Evil Angel Reveals More on Brian Pumper’s Dismissal
After being warned, the director/performer turned in incomplete test results for scenes he shot

VAN NUYS, Calif. — Less than 24 hours after releasing a statement about the end of its DVD distribution arrangement with Brian Pumper, Evil Angel has released more details about the director’s dismissal.
Since yesterday’s announcement, Evil Angel has fielded numerous inquiries from the adult media and the industry regarding the reasons for Pumper’s exit “and we weren’t going to lie about it,” company publicist Tricia Devereaux told XBIZ.
Citing a desire to put the speculation to rest, Devereaux confirmed that Pumper played fast and loose with STD testing requirements on three separate occasions.
Initial speculation ran rampant after gossip site MikeSouth.com posted an item from a source close to Pumper who claimed that the director was faking STD tests.
On two of the three cited instances by Devereaux the female performers’ STD tests hadn’t come back before the scenes were shot; in the third instance (which subsequently led to Pumper’s dismissal), the performer had not tested prior to shooting a scene with Pumper. A post-scene test revealed that the female performer was positive for chlamydia.
In all three cases, it was Pumper who worked with the female performers in question, telling Evil Angel that he thereby didn’t put anyone else at risk, “a stance we just absolutely did not agree with,” Devereaux said.
Pumper’s lax attitude about STD testing was discovered by Evil Angel’s record keeper when certain production dates, and the performers used in those scenes, didn’t correspond with valid negative test results.
“Essentially, the creative differences statement we made yesterday is the start of why we had to release Brian,” Devereaux said. “Evil Angel has a very strict testing policy. Due to Brian shooting some newer girls, a few hadn’t had their gonorrhea or chlamydia tests back yet. Even though we require a clean test for those two plus HIV as a minimum, he didn’t agree that that was necessary and would slip up.
“We reminded him that a test that hadn’t come back yet is not a negative test. We discussed this with him and reiterated our testing policy a few times. It seemed like it was understood. But after repeated discussions and him not adhering to our testing mandates, we decided we couldn’t work together going forward.”
Pumper was brief in his comments to XBIZ about the reasons surrounding his release.
“That’s not true about the testing,” Pumper said. “And yes, it’s true that we had creative differences. Simple, that’s it. That’s all.”
When the sex workers in the business are going to take this issue seriously? The same story is happening in Europe all the time…Spain is a fucking chaos with the tests, people go to the sets with fake tests or without them. Fortunately only a little part of the companies allows this.
The other day two performers and a director from Italy came to shoot their own movie to Barcelona, What happened two days later? One of the female performers was infected with Chlamydia and only fucked with the Italian performers and the Director…This is crazy, Obviously they were who infected to the girl because she had the tests ok because I went with her to get them in the clinic.

I think it was on Christian’s blog but a while back I read how he went to Europe and he said they test for more STDs than AIM does. AIM only tests for three – HIV, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea. He showed his AIM test and those are the only three. I still have to write a story on this too. Never seem to have time for anything anymore.

I haven’t kept up with Jack Napier’s recent flicks but I saw an awful lot of women enjoy him in their scenes (and some of them mentioned it at the AEE conventions how they liked working with him). Unlike Diesel who so often has to hold his cock to maintain the semblance of an erection, Napier either does so most of the time or is edited to look that way, my comments driven from seeing the movies he is in, not some personal knowledge of his antics in real life.
As far as Shorty Mac is concerned, his work with Tim Von Swine was amazingly funny; the banter between them tearing into each other a lot funnier than the parts where they kicked the women to the curb after servicing Shorty. When Swine left that company, their work quality dropped so much and so quickly that I lost interest in keeping up with it.
The biggest problem with Lex is that all too often, his scenes seems to be more about Lex than the women he works with. From showing his face during the pop shot to his sweating body when he plugging away. Not all of his scenes are like that but there’s a reason why his best work is directed by others such as Jules Jordan.
Sean Michaels is one of the best males in terms of getting a woman off, having a large cock, and showing some enthusiasm for what he is doing. He generally doesn’t try to be ghetto lame, too cool for his own good, or abusive beyond what his female partners want from him; it’s a shame that he’s been fucked over so many times regarding ownership.
Another top black performer (a top performer of any color too) is Tyler Knight. He can act better than most, perform as needed, and seems to balance out his needs with those of his partners. He may not be as proficient as Sean sexually but he is definitely worth his pay.

Michaels is getting on in years (and frankly, looks skinner than he has in the past). While he was a pioneer, shouldn’t he be like guys of his generation running their own uber-successful production companies and doing a few scenes here and there (more so for kicks than for $). If anything, a guy like Michaels should be making movies, not directed by him as he’s even worse than Lex when it comes to ‘directing’, centered around Tyler Knight.
Tyler’s been in some major blockbuster titles (Not the Cosbys XXX, The 8th Day, etc.) but I get the impression that most black guys get put off into the niche of interracial-only for most of the gonzo/vignette work they do. As a critic, I focus mostly on the ladies but when they work with the horde of terribly lame mopes out there so often, I ask myself the same thing.
And while this discussion has changed away from Pumper’s issue into a more general “what black men suck as performers”, look at how few men in general are not bottom of the barrel types worthy of blow bangs and other circus act sex extravaganzas (ie: there are a LOT of white men out there that should find alternative employment too).
