LOS ANGELES (Sept. 15, 2009) – As Rammstein prepare for the release of their first studio album in four years, LIEBE IST FÜR ALLE DA (Oct. 20, Universal Music Germany), the band is unveiling a video for the single “Pussy” that will likely be banned by video sharing services and simultaneously be one of the most viewed music videos of the year.
Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, the video (available via Rammstein.com) will premiere on Sept. 16 at 4 pm eastern/1 pm pacific (with ongoing availability thereafter). Teases from the video have been splashing across German TV in the overnight hours with websites posting the grainy images worldwide. Åkerlund has an impressive resume including directing the feature film “Spun” and videos for Madonna (five videos including Grammy winning video “Ray Of Light” and “Celebration”), U2 (“Beautiful Day”), Metallica (“Whiskey In The Jar,” “Turn The Page”) and Lady Gaga (“Paparazzi”).
“Pussy” will be released as LIEBE IST FÜR ALLE DA’s first single exclusively in the U.S. via iTunes on Sept. 22 with album track “Rammlied.”

These guys are the most controversial German band ever. They became world wide famous when director David Lynch included 2 songs from their self titled debut album in Lost Highway soundtrack. They’ve been dominating Billboard charts and concert venues evre since, and with each album they push the envelope further and create a new controversy.
Some Rammstein trivia:
Since 1999, Rammstein are prohibited from performing live concerts in America due to the huge controversy they created during a show in Massachusetts. What happened was that Till Lindemann, the band’s singer, chased Christian ‘Flake’ Lorenz, the band’s keyboard player, on the stage with a liquid ejecting dildo. They were arrested after the show, spent one night in jail and were told they can no longer perform live concerts in America.
In music video for their cover of Depeche Mode song Stripped, they used footages from Leni Riefenstahl’s Olympia, a Nazi propaganda movie.
In 2004, the video for the song Mein Teil caused considerable controversy in Germany when it was released. It takes a darkly comic view of the Armin Meiwes cannibalism case, showing a cross dressed Christoph ‘Doom’ Schneider, the band’s drummer, holding the other five band members on a leash and rolling around in mud. However the controversy did nothing to stop the single rising to No. 2 in the German charts.

There are of course many good German bands from Scorpions to Accept, Helloween, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, and the list goes on; but none as controversial, daring and innovative as Rammstein. Besides, here’s the interesting part: all other internationally famous German bands sing in English, while Rammstein songs are in German with a few exceptions like Stripped, and yet they’re wildly popular all across the globe because they’re so unique in their music and style.

I know Rockbitch, they were British. They did a fine job at combining punk music/attitude with Pagan beliefs and sexually explicit performances. They were hardcore fans of porn star Annie Sprinkle.
