Spiritually clothed in sackloth and ashes, literally dressed in a humble dark suit, I presented myself at Porn Central at 11AM today, Monday, 5/4/98.

Porn Central is 4523 Van Nuys Boulevard in Sherman Oaks, the home to Jim South's World Modeling Agency and to PAW (Protecting Adult Welfare) - a division of the porn industry trade group, the Free Speech Coalition.

Speaking of the FSC, when I arrive home at 4PM, I had an invigorating anal reaming waiting for me on my telelphone answer machine from Gloria Leonard, president of the FSC. She took exception to some things I wrote.

"Luke, this is Gloria Leonard. Can't you ever get a f---ing thing right? I am really pissed off about what I downloaded today. You are a mean-spirited, ill-advised yuck! Again, when it comes to the Free Speech Coalition, f---ing call me and get your information right. Your dates are wrong, your information is wrong! You're an asshole!" Phone slammed down.

I checked in at 11AM with Bill Margold who was manning the phones, answering questions and generally holding down the fort. No new HIVs today.

I got a copy of the Caroline HIV genealogy list update. Those who performed with the HIV positive Hungarian who must wait 21 days after working with her to take the PCR/DNA test include Earl Slate (worked with her 4/13), John West (4/18?), Rob King (4/17), Alec Metro (4/10), Alex Sanders (4/11), Elle Divine, Myka, Inari, John West (3/20), and Shanna Edwards.

Those cleared of danger include Tom Byron, Shelby Byrne, Buck Adams, Rick Masters, Jake Steed, Brick Mojers, JJ Michaels, Brandon Iron, TT Boy, Johnny Thrust, Mark Davis, Vince Voyeur, Alexandra Nice, Cassie, Mia Smyles, Bobbi Bliss, Charles….

A list for those exposed to Marc Wallice has not yet been prepared but it seems that he worked more than the "once in the last two months" that he told me.

PAW counselor Sharon Mitchell spent the late morning/noontime with recently HIV positive diagnosed Marc Wallice at the office of a Beverly Hills medical specialist. The specialist charged about $600 to run the same PCR/DNA HIV test that PAW and the other three porn clinics offer porn talent for $85-$95.

The overall atmosphere at Porn Central seemed lighter and more upbeat than Friday 5/1/98.

Various porn stars wandered in to take the PCR/DNA test from an attractive, curvaceous blonde nurse who was constantly getting hit on by the male talent.

Tom Byron gave me a copy of his negative test.

I met veteran pornographer Jim Malibu who has been in the industry since 1972. He started on the East Coast (not NY) then moved to San Francisco where he shot for the Mitchell Brothers and others. Bill called Jim a northern California version of himself.

Jim staggered under the weight of that honor. Malibu, who assisted Bob Vosse for years, mainly shoots pretty couples fare for Vivid and VCA. He chatted up a couple of cute chicks who came in for tests. He paid for the $95 tests for those who plan to shoot with him.

Vosse has retired to the south, near David Friedman in Arkansas.

Bill to Luke: "You received a compliment today from Jeffrey Douglas of the Free Speech Coalition. He thought your postings on me were very accurate. It was, aside from a few misspelled words. It is "Vultures at the Grate…"

Redhead: "I am scheduled to work with Tom Byron on Thursday."

BILL: "I would suggest that you push it to Friday. So you don't agonize. We want to cross all our children off [the Caroline genealogy list]. Byron is one of the great ones."

Luke to Bill: "I would like to extend an olive branch to the adult industry. If there is some way that I can help, perhaps advice on dealing with the media. Advice on how to set up better protection for performers' real names and addresses."

BILL: "We're vulnerable to these two sets of identification laws, so that stores wind up with IDs of all the performers, including their home phone numbers and addresses. It's amazing. Stores with each set of tapes get complete sets of IDs with pictures of drivers licenses…

"We are only open two and a half hours a day. We just happened to be in a unique situation, located next to porn's center of the universe.

"If things work out, we will open up a branch office at Reb's one day a week. But his office does not generate enough business yet to justify that…

"We tested 222 people in April [with the PCR/DNA]. And 73 people in March. We were only open part of the month."

Luke takes a look at Marc Wallice's PCR/DNA test which reads "DETECTED." Date collected: 4/27/98. Date reported: 4/29/98 at 21:01 (9:01PM PST).

Luke checks in with World Modeling. Jim South was schmoozing with three blonde newcomers who appeared in their early 20s. He later took them to lunch. I shook hands with Steve Austin and Jim South Jr, talent coordinators. I gave Jim Sr a copy of our interview on Friday.

Meanwhile, Chuck Martino chatted briefly with Bill Margold about Marc Wallice. No one knows yet how long Marc was HIV positive and if he was responsible for the recent string of HIV infections. As soon as I returned to the PAW office and clicked on my tape recorder, Chuck got the hell out of PAW.

I saw him Friday with some sweet young blonde on his arm, either Shay Sweet or Farrah?

A young male performer wandered in who needed to take the PCR/DNA test. I think he performed with Caroline. He lacked the money to pay for his needed test. He already owed Paw money. The young had tattoos all over his arm.

PAW counselor/volunteer Lauretta vouched for the man's commitment to pay.

Bill to Luke: "…It was summed up eloquently by a friend of mine. "If you [Bill Margold] had not been here, think of the trouble we would be in now.""

Phone rings. Margold: "Protecting Adult Welfare."

Voice on speaker phone: Yeah, it's Reb [Sawitz of Pretty Girl International].

Bill: Luke F-rd is here.

Reb: Huh? I am real upset. Really f---ing upset. Did you know there was a gangbang Friday?

Luke: Saturday.

Reb: How many people did you see wearing condoms?

Luke: I wasn't at the set. I have sources though. I will find out.

Bill: We can't tell people to stop working.

Bill: The freight train is death… The freight trains are those who control the major links to distribution. Those major links may frown upon this, and therefore what was shot may not see the light of day.

Jasmine St. Clair and her boyfriend Earl Slate enter the office with Aja aka Barbara Holder. Aja is getting PCR tested. She still performs at times and operates her own production company.

Earl has performed in over 200 videos in his two years in the business. A tall good looking well-built blonde, he has rocketed to the top of the male talent. He's dated Jasmine for a year.

"There was a gonorrhea epidemic that I picked up. I may have passed it on to a few people, before I realized I had it. But once I realized, I got treated. But a person [Jackie Lick] has taken it upon herself to say that I was the one who brought it into the industry and worked for several weeks knowing I had it.

"But it was going around for weeks before I got it.

"This person was probably just concerned with the welfare of the talent, but she may have gotten her information from bad sources.

"Sharon Mitchell told me that there was an epidemic of gonorrhea in LA county earlier this year, with over 3000 reported cases.

"Starting rumors is inconsiderate and damaging. I had to employ a lawyer who told me to have PAW sit her down and tell her to not do that. If she continues to spread these nasty rumors, my attorney will start an action against her.

"If directors want to hire me, but girls don't want to work with me [because of these rumors], I can't work."

Earl says he has never used IV drugs nor had a homosexual experience.

"I am not the only person who has been victimized by this person. There were a group of five guys. One did deserve to be attacked. Because he was trying to work even while he was the quarantine list."

Tom Byron came in and gave me copy of his HIV negative test.

Earl entered porn in May of 1996. "At first I got in for the glamour and excitement. That wore off after the second scene. Now I am the business 100% for the money. It is not fun. It is not pleasurable. You don't do it like you would do it in your bedroom. That would be fun. On the set you do it the way the director wants it done. You stop, you start.

"I've moved myself into the A-list of guys. And I get paid well. It's common for me to do a two-to-three thousand dollar week which support my habits such as boats, cars, apartments on the water in Marina Del Rey, eating out breakfast, lunch and dinner… It's an expensive lifestyle.

"I've been out of work for a month now because of this last scare [Caroline's HIV+]. The minute they told me she came up positive, I cancelled that day $3000 worth of work. I'm in today getting the new PCR/DNA test.

"I don't worry much. I don't believe that straight guys can get HIV from a woman. Most guys who get it are sharing needles or being homosexuals. The woman is not putting fluids into my body.

Jas: We have a life outside.

Earl: We don't really associate with the industry.

Bill: She's winning a lifetime achievement from the Free Speech Coalition for her work Class Act Positive.

Jas: I read her letter in AVN. Do you think this whole industry will go condom only?

Bill: I think that the main players will go condom only. I endorse creative condomism. Luke: Has Earl met your mother yet?

Earl: She met mine.

Luke: And did you guys hit it off?

Luke: Does she know you're in the biz?

Earl: When we were there, we were going out to a job, and she was mad that I wouldn't let her come watch. She really doesn't like it that I am in it, but as she can't stop me, she wants to witness a scene.

Jas: My mom doesn't like anyone I go out with… She'll be nice to him then she'll start getting all snappy and sarcastic. And he'll just be sarcastic right back.

Earl: I'll do to her what I do to you. I'll gag her, tie her up and throw her in the closet until she behaves. That's the only thing that works.

Luke: Do you guys play kinky games?

Earl: To be honest with you, we have a mild sex life. A couple of days a week, an hour at a time, sometimes less. To me, kink is show, pornography. It is not intimate.

That's ok. She'll come to terms with what I do. If not, my male cousin will appreciate it more. He'll get free autographs for his friends. I think she is too close-minded [cousin]. She is still a virgin. She says in the letter, "I don't know how to tell your mother about this." I am going to send her a letter and an autograph [cousin] just to mess with her.

Earl: Send her a videotape of us having sex.

Jas laughs.

Jas's mother lives in NY. "She is supposed to come out here this weekend. I don't know what is going to happen. She will meet him. She puts all my guys through this bulls--- thing. He wouldn't stand for it.

Earl: I will take her sailing with me if she doesn't like me. I take two types of people sailing: My friends and my enemies. Only my friends come back.

Earl says he prefers to perform only with condoms but that he will abandon his condom-only policy if he can't get enough work.

Sharon: "Marc is in good spirits. He is really concerned about the buzz going around that he had knowledge that he was HIV positive and was falsifying tests. It was his belief that you just picked his name out of a hat, and did not target him based on any evidence with the rumor… That could've been anybody. The hearsay of the week that Luke picked out and chose to put on his web site. Because that is what you do. And I thought that was a pretty healthy attitude towards it considering what I've heard. And I said, 'Great.' He is very concerned about his career and where he is going from here as a producer, director and possibly as an advocate for safe sex within the industry. And condom use. He really needs the help and support of people to squash these insane rumors going around.

"We haven't yet figured out who infected who. The window between Tricia and Marc is so close. And as a counselor, I can tell you that not everyone cuts loose with what is really happening. There is always the possibility that something is going on in his personal life."

Luke: Did Marc work with Caroline and Brooke?

Sharon: Yes. Yes. Yes.

I have verified that he has gone in for his last few HIV Elisa tests. I verified that. They were all negative.

Luke: All my sources were just people in the industry. I'm just a conduit.

Sharon: I understand that and Marc understands that. His mental health is my main concern. The rumors will blow over.

5/6/98 CLARIFICATIONS:

It seems that my RAME posts and internet site www.l-keford.com have gotten some sweet people in the industry into big trouble, so I want to try to extricate them with the following clarifications.

Earl Slate went out of his way to not name Jackie Lick as the source of the rumors about him. I already had heard about her, and the controversy with Earl's gonorrhea. So I put her name in there. Earl wants nothing but peace with Jackie and other female talent, because unless they like him, he does not work.

Also, Earl wants to make clear that he did not catch gonorrhea at the Shayla LaVeaux gangbang. He believes that he caught it a few days before. He just noticed the day after the gangbang that his dick was dripping, and he went in for a check up.

Jasmine St. Clair wants to add that she has nothing but respect for John T. Bone and Charlie Frey, and their anti-condom leanings.

Jasmine also wants to emphasize that she did not go in Jim South's office on Monday. She only went to the PAW office which is next door.
