The groundbreaking adult film “Deep Throat” which The New York Times called “Porno Chic,” will be screened at alt film festival CineKink in New York City this Friday, August 4th at 9PM at Wild Project at 195 E 3rd St. New York, NY 10009 (betw. Christar Says “We look forward to being on ‘In Hot Water’ to talk about the events which lead up to the making of ‘Deep Throat,’ and being on location in Miami during production. We will share stories of the impact that it had not just on our family, but on American culture.”
Her brother Gerard adds “Some theaters have been reluctant to show the film for fear of pushback based on comments that Linda made years later while being coached by anti-porn feminists. Her story is a very complicated one. There is no doubt that she suffered greatly at the hands of her husband. People assume that he beat her because she didn’t want to perform in the film, but the truth of what actually happened on the set of “Deep Throat” is very different.”
On what would have been Writer/Director Gerard Damiano’s 95 Birthday, CineKink will honor him with a screening of his most notorious film “Deep Throat.” His son and daughter Gerard Jr. and Christar Damiano will appear to present their 4K restoration, which is considered to be the definitive version of the film, live. This will be followed by a talkback moderated by CineKink Founder and Director Lisa Vandever. The Damianos will share their stories of being on location in Miami during the filming of “Deep Throat” and growing up with “The King of Porn.” They will be joined by a panel of illustrious guests to discuss the history, cultural impact, and controversy surrounding the film, which includes:
Kaytlin Bailey host of The Oldest Profession Podcast and Founder/Executive Director of Old Pros, a non-profit media organization creating the conditions to change the status of sex workers in society.
Women’s Studies, and Gender Studies Scholar Whitney Strub, who is the Co-Editor of “Porno Chic and the Sex Wars: American Sexual Representation in the 1970s” and Author of “Perversion for Profit: The Politics of Pornography and the Rise of the New Right.
