Syria’s Internet Shut Down

Today at 10:30 am Syria time, the whole country’s internet service disappeared. Syria is in the midst of a battle between the government and rebel factions. Syria’s government says that the black out was done by terrorists cutting lines and the government was working to get the service back up. Many news agencies outside the country are saying the government themselves shut down the web to block communications between rebel forces.

Current cellphone service in the country is partially shut down.

Can you imagine if that happened in the US?

  1. I was thinking that myself. Can you imagine if that happened here? I mean the insanity that would follow … I couldn’t even begin to imagine.
