Whiteacre on Weinstein- “fucking idiot”

(NL-this is a comment I have made into a post because I totally agree with EVERYTHING Michael has said, including that Weinstiein is a fucking idiot)

OP/ED by Michael Whiteacre

Here’s Weinstein — the man with an honorary degree from Whittier College — trying to explain HIV testing, what was done wrong, and why AHF system is so much better:

Weinstein: “Labs work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I don’t know the particular lab they were using or what the situation is, but I mean, it is possible to get a confirmation—I mean, in the test sites that AHF operates, for example, we presume a person is positive if they have two different Rapid tests. I mean, when you have two different Rapid tests, for example, the statistical possibility that that person is not positive is infinitesimal. So that would be one way to make it a much shorter period of time to actually start getting the other people in to be tested. I mean…”

Here is the description of the Orasure test AHF uses, directly from the manufacturer’s website:

– OraSure is not as accurate as a blood test — for example, it will miss finding 1 to 2 people with HIV out of 100 positive persons tested

– as with blood tests, six to twelve weeks must pass after infection has occurred before enough antibodies have been produced for the test to detect them

– an OraSure test performed three months after the potentially infectious event (sex without a condom or shared intravenous drug needles/equipment) is about 95% accurate

– a test at 6 months will be the most accurate

– all positive rapid result tests require us to draw a blood test as a confirming test.

Okay, as you can see, Orasure is an ELISA-type anti-body test with a window period of 3 to 6 months, with 6 months being the gold standard. It’s about 95% accurate at 90 days. The PCR-DNA is 95% accurate at TEN days. AHF’s claims — and their protocols — are full of shit.

Q: “But assuming they don’t do that, there are other tests that do take longer, right?”

Weinstein: “Well, there are less effective or efficient methods, but in an emergency, you would think you would use the best practice that’s available.”

To quote Ernest Greene, a former director of AIM, on the matter: “In an emergency, Orasure would be like calling in the UN for a traffic accident. What we have used in the past is a combination of two PCR-DNA tests, a Western Blot and an ELISA to cover all bases. That does take more time, usually a few days. And in past cases, ELISAs have turned up negative on new cases with viral loads in the tens of thousands. Anyone who walks away from an ELISA of any sort with a negative result and feels safe is delusional unless they’ve had no no sexual partners in half a year. Hardly workable for our community. FSC IS using the best practices available.”

In other words, since the patient in this instance is allegedly a NEW infection, the procedure Weinstein recommends would be THE STUPIDEST thing in the world to do, because the patient would not have had time to develop the anti-bodies which could be picked up by one or two or a thousand Rapid tests at this point in time. What a fucking idiot.

And now you see why Mike Weinstein is so down with condoms..basically, it’s to cover his ass from the failure of his own testing regime…and to make money off of Lifestyles condoms.

I may have to repost that comment over at BPPA. Without the “f-bombs”, of course.

  2. Michael Whiteacre says:

This man runs the largest global AIDS organization, and he’s apparently incapable of understanding — let alone explaining — HIV testing.

He’s too busy trying to sell people on AHF inferior (but cheaper and more profitable) Rapid test.

    What a sack of shit.

Here’s more of his incoherent ramblings from the press conference:

“You could also do, as I said, a couple of Rapid tests, which are available—it’s an on-site service. I mean, we do a test where someone rubs their gums with a device. If you have a positive PCR, that came back positive, there is a presumption that the person is positive. The chance that they’re not positive is, you know, miniscule… If they did the PCR test, for example, and then they did a rapid, and they presumed the person was positive and started testing the other people, they could still do a Western Blot test as an additional confirmation. But based upon those two tests that I described, it would be urgent to get those other people to be tested. Now maybe they’re already doing that. That just contributes to the cover-up; if in fact they’re already, you know, preparing a quarantine, then it should be known to the people, and there should be information flowing to the county and to the performers.”

“I mean, there’s been total radio silence from the industry this week. There have been no press conference, there’s been no details; they’re refused to speak in front of the camera or microphone, so I mean, the burden of proof is on them, if they’re not doing this in a conventional fashion, where there’s cooperation with public health authorities to explain what’s going on. To the degree that there’s a name floating out there which, you know—I don’t like the idea of it; if it’s not true, you know, it could hurt that person, but if there’s a name floating out there, and the people that performed with that person could be having very high anxiety; they should know now whether or not that is the person. So this guessing game should end, and it should end by the public health authorities in Florida and California notifying the people of a possible infection and be brought in immediately to be tested and to find out who their sex partners are as well. I mean, what’s happening now under the Free Speech Coalition actually is worse or less information than has come out previously. This is, you know, more of a closed process even than what we saw before.”

Again, I quote Ernest Greene: “The talk of cover-up is pretty funny coming from a guy who sued AIM out of existence, ostensibly for releasing too much information too soon. There is not cover-up, just adherence to medical privacy laws and reasonable caution in the face of still-ambiguous data.”

    Here’s Weinstein’s next quote:

“I don’t really see any justification as well for why Free Speech Coalition hasn’t given even general information about what the circumstance is, and it will lead to rampant speculation which we don’t see as being helpful. In the absence of any information, that’s what’s going to happen.

So, Weinstein calls a press conference based on rumors on a porn gossip site, and then castigates FSC for not contributing to the rumor mill by releasing as-yet unconfirmed information, and this silence by FSC, in his mind, will lead to more rumors and speculation. You get that?

The whole AID$ thing is a $cam and Whine$tein is part of the proof. They’ve been using terror-fear tactics, absurdities and lies (including murder by diagnosis and perscription) for years to keep the money flowing.

If Jesus were around he’d surely be over-turning tables in AIDS’ den of thieves.

  5. Michael Whiteacre says:

@Jeremy – I thought Jesus hangs out with and talks to Shelley Lubben every day? Maybe she should send Him over to her allies of convenience at AHF? Come to think of it, her friends at broke-ass Morality In Media could use some help too.

  6. I don’t think Weinstein is an idiot. I don’t think anyone in this situation is. I think most who are making a lot of noise are actually really smart with some well thought out agenda’s but due to having to be politically correct have their hands tied and can’t say or do what they really want to, so since I have nothing at stake, I’ll say this:

    Solution:
*Take steps to legalize escorting in California. That way the primary adult talent agents and studios can be viewed as actual adult industry “professionals” instead of gangsters, criminals and human trackers cause we all know that escorting is the real cash cow for the porn biz.
*Make a POZ arm of “straight” porn – I think it probably exists on the downlow anyhow.
*Make active talent waive their right’s to patient confidentiality and make their STD status publicly known and keep it up to date on IAFD.com – that way the public (especially the Johns) know what they’re getting themselves into when they hire a pornstar escort.

There you go – transparency – the Obama way. Those 3 easy steps are your solution and there would be no more drama that wouldn’t be expected.

And as for Weinstein – it could totally work out really well for him and he’d have a brand new purpose…here’s what it would be 🙂
The AHF could be for the pornstars who never get rich who already are POZ or who later become POZ but can’t afford their meds.
In my view, the AHF could simply partner with LA Direct Models, ATMLA and TYPE 9 and open up POZluxurycompanion.com – their cut of the tricks they book would cover the meds for everyone!
Since the AHF already has a huge database of potential Johns and escorts it’s a win / win!

Oh, I also think Manwin needs to go ahead and sponsor all the non-POZ talent STD testing – if it gets too pricey, it wouldn’t be too difficult to have a POZ give all the remaining non-POZ’s “The Gift” – then in time, you could do away with STD testing all together – after all, in some people’s views HIV doesn’t even really exist (I think it does, but then again I might be totally brainwashed).

  7. Actually if someone did all of the above, it would create a ton of new niches for both live and pre-recorded adult content.

Here’s something Porno Dan could do since he already started Fuck A Fan.

GiveMeTheGift.com – it would be a live webcast for non-POZ peeps who want to be POZ. Just pair up a “Gift Giver” with a bug chaser (err – maybe call it a “Gift Receiver” – that sounds better) and for maybe just $9.99 people could watch someone get The Gift LIVE! Controversial – yes, but LUCRATIVE!

Then once The Gift takes effect, they could go on to become the next super hot POZ pornstar and go on tour across America like that new “Are You Hardcore” America’s Got Talent rip off Brazzers put together (isn’t it ironic that it’s BRAZZERS? LOL). It could be called “Are you ready for The Gift” – I’d suggest setting up camp directly outside local highschools and colleges to find contestants.

All you gotta do is glam up the image of being POZ! It could work.

(now if anyone follows through with these ideas, just send me a check for about 1% of what you rake in – thanx).

  8. Such enthusiastic capitalist pursuits are what made America great!
I’m not taking the piss (entirely) here, Monica, that is some genuine blue sky thinking which may actually move the debate forward.

  9. “POZ arm”? Monica, porn has a lot of douche-bags. But straight-porn is not wicked enough to do that. You know better…

  10. For once, I agree with Monica. Anything that puts Porno Dan closer to AIDS is A-OK in my book.

  11. Larry Horse says:

Havent there been stories that the shoot where the positive test was used was on a Mofo’s set, which is owned by…Manwin, so while Brazzers may be defamed…well its like look what’s in my other hand. Porno Dan’s dick isnt big enough to catch HIV, besides Fuck A Fan is bullshit, if they use real guys they’re tested and most of the time they use “ringers” a fair amount newbie crossovers, just like Can he Score and Fuck team Five. Usually Dan fucks most of the girls in FAF anyway, and it is not a nice sight. I will give Porno Dan some credit, he isnt afraid to show his face on screen unlike Rapin Roy. I still want a chance to debate Margold, scumbag, and now he’s taking over the late Jim Holliday’s spot as a pornstorian, him and Holliday were friends and enemies but Saint Bill could never fill Jim’s shoes.

  12. Michael Whiteacre says:

@Larry – There has been NO evidence presented that a positive test was ever presented and ignored, in order that the performer could shoot. NONE. It is scurrilous rumor.

  13. Hey Origen:

““POZ arm”? Monica, porn has a lot of douche-bags. But straight-porn is not wicked enough to do that. You know better…”

Oh really? Are you sure – here’s something I noticed today…

Check out therealpornwikileaks.com and read the post by Daisy Dare.

The douche who runs adulttalentregistry.com Marc Dresher apparently conned the girl to leave home where she was safe and probably doing just fine webcamming for herself to LA with the false promise of making more money via porn shoots.

When she got out to LA he trapped her in his pimp house via debt slavery and said she’d have to pay him back for her travel and room and board via the webcamming earning’s she’d already established independently rather than with the shoot earning’s he’d claimed she’d be making via his efforts (yep apprently he’s too lazy to pay his own rent).

He had this girl most likely doing multi-people scenes on webcam and I have a feeling that all these peeps were not tested. What if one of them was POZ?

I’m wondering how many people in the LA area are regularly doing what would essentially be “mini porn shoots” on webcam without tests? I bet a bunch.

This is how the POZ arm of porn will be formed. It’s inevitable if something doesn’t change asap.

Larry Horse: “Havent there been stories that the shoot where the positive test was used was on a Mofo’s set,”

Oh god and jesus and baby jesus please tell me it wasn’t a shoot with Bernie Kosar’s smoking hot daughter. She’s done 2 scenes for them so far. Please keep her GORGEOUS tan ass from getting infected. She hasn’t done anal yet and MY EYES NEED TO GAZE UPON THAT GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!! Her wonderful starfish would make the prettiest little gape. Please lord in heaven, keep her healthy and fucking in 1080p.

    amen.

  15. RickMadrid says:

OK…..So how about letting us all know about the second round of testing and if these people who have been exposed came back negative this second time around testing??

  16. Michael Whiteacre says:

There have been NO reports of anyone else coming back with a positive test. However, using an abundance of caution, these parties should be re-tested after some time has elapsed. I’m not a doctor and I don’t know what that recommendation is/should be, but the testing being done is meant to be in full compliance with state and county guidelines.

  17. jeremysteele11 says:

The bottom (no pun intended) line is no one can be positive that anyone’s positive! And I’m positive of this because test kits themselves say they’re not positive and more tests are needed; in other words- don’t pin this shit on me. I don’t want to be liable for the possible consequences. A myth has been purchased as “science” do to the power of the almighty dollar! So holla for da dolla. Dream green thoughts.
