ICM’s Site- Propaganda?

NL- Talk about Spin Doctors! Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, and to me what they are saying is about as opposite to truth as possible!  Below is just a small part of the "information" on the ICM website. It says "launch in  22 days" , launch as in sales of .xxx domains.

The Progressive New Home For Adult Entertainment Online
The Internet is home to a wealth of content, suitable for a wide range of ages and values. The adult entertainment industry has, and always will, account for a large amount of this content and while it is enjoyed by some, it is not suitable, or of interest, to all internet users. Regardless of your views on adult content, it’s here to stay, so let’s be adult about it.
Increasingly, internet users are coming into contact with content that they do not wish to see and in turn, others finding it hard to locate exactly what they are looking for, due to a decrease in availability for precise and clear domain names.

The creation of .XXX will create a clearly signposted place where adult entertainment can be accessed and allow surfers to have a clear idea of the nature of the site before they click, rather than after.
.XXX isn’t just a helpful distinction. It’s the progressive new home for adult entertainment online.

For Consumers

.XXX will provide a clearly sign posted place where adult entertainment can be accessed, secure in the knowledge that the website operators is operating under self regulatory, published guidelines and policies.
Every website in the .XXX domain is scanned daily by McAfee for Malware and to ensure consumer standards are constantly adhered to The Internet Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR) will also monitor websites.
For those wishing to avoid adult content .XXX easily allows Internet users to filter out all unwanted .XXX content thanks to its unique MetaCert Tagging system.
For Industry Professionals

.XXX will provide a consumer friendly online environment, which will encourage more trust and therefore higher usage of adult entertainment brands within the .XXX space. Thus creating highly attractive long-term (and hence valuable) online ‘real estate’.

For Non-Adult IP Owners
.XXX gives the confidence that you can now control the exposure of your Intellectual Property in the online adult space thanks to our revolutionary Sunrise process.

  1. Michael Whiteacre says:

How about the fact that 4 out of 5 businesses registered for .XXX domains have no connection to the adult industry.

    http://mobile.techworld.com/news/personal-tech/3295352/businesses-buying-xxx-porn-domains-to-protect-trademarks/

Or the fact that the first site to go live (as part of ICM’s “Founders Program”), Casting.xxx, “is registered to a Really Useful Ltd, which appears to have been set up purely to build sites on .xxx domains, of which Casting.xxx is the first of several,” according to DomainIncite.com. And that was after ICM went around BEGGING adult webmasters to be part of the Founders Program — right up until the launch of Casting.xxx.

Someone ought to ask Joan Irvine (excuse me, “Dr.” Joan Irvine) where that site’s RTA label is — oh, that’s right. Joan jumped ship from ASACP and went to work for ICM.

.XXX = XXXtortion, plain and simple.

  2. Jaycee luv says:

so… does this mean we are forced to buy new domains just to keep folks from stealing our stuff??

  3. I think its more you don’t want them to sit on your .xxx domain name and possibly steal/leech customers. So if I had http://www.brazzzers.com (not a real site) you would not want some leech to buy http://www.brazzzers.xxx and steal your customers.

Most internet porn sites are planning to get both for their business.

  4. Michael Whiteacre says:

@Jaycee – Bingo. That’s the ICM business model. You can hear industry attorney Allan Gelbard (and others) explain and describe it here, in the press conference following the .xxx protest footage:

Also, today Free Speech Coalition has made available a letter template for adult online business owners to send to ICM Registry, to demand that their trademarks be protected from sale on .XXX domains to third parties.

Currently, ICM is offering “sunrise” period pricing for adult and mainstream businesses willing to pay to block sale of the trademarks in the .XXX domain. The letter template refers to sunrise period blocking practices as “inadequate,” and that ICM is not relieved of liability in the event of trademark infringement or other possible intellectual property violations.

The template letter is available at the FSC blog (I’d link to it, but I think this comment will go to moderation if I include two links).

@Karmafan – Most adult businesses ARE NOT planning to get both for their businesses. Do you have any idea how many domains a business like Kink.com owns?

How about mainstream businesses, like Disney? Every Disney character has its own URL.

  5. You are right. Cindi posted a couple other new articles explaining that the established sites are not gonna buy them but have lawyers block the sale of their web sites as a .xxx.

  6. commonsense says:

    MIke:
You are laser like on point. glad to see Mr. gelbard ESQ get some exposure instaed of this weirdo fattorosi. My opinion if i was a fenale talent based on his tweets and e-mails i would not even have a phone consultations.

ACTUALLY IN FACT IF ANYONE HAD USED HIS SERVICES WHERE HE HAS YOUR PRIVATE AND PERSONAL INFO. I WOULD GET A COURT ORDER MAKING HIM DESTROY IT.

  7. commonsense says:

I believe he was involved with safe 2257, i would be shaking in my boots if i used that service. i personally have no trust in fattorosi.
