Pornhub uploaders getting the boot
 by Nate Glass from http://takedownpiracy.com/
After hammering the Manwich people relentlessly about how they are not implementing or enforcing a repeat offender policy, they finally relented a few weeks ago.  Thanks to a combined effort from RemoveYourContent and Takedown Piracy, the top uploader to Pornhub (JJ09) had his account removed.  While the uploaders there lamented the loss of the patron saint of copyright infringement, they had no idea what was to come.

In recent weeks more and more prolific uploaders have had their accounts cancelled.  Eat and Beat, Great Gonzo and Jakkups were all uploaders with hundreds and hundreds of copyright infringing uploads.  If the people behind Pornhub had 1% the integrity that Youtube has, these users and all their videos would have been gone a LONG time ago.  But in true scumbag fashion, the Manwich people showed that not only will they not show any ethics until they are absolutely forced to, but even in doing ‘the right thing’, they have found a way to still be scumbags.

You see, unlike YouTube which has a 3 strikes policy, Pornhub has no clearly defined repeat infringer policy.  This leaves them open to numerous lawsuits since a repeat offender policy is required by the DMCA law to earn safe harbor.  But even when Pornhub does remove repeat offenders…they don’t delete all the uploaders videos.  They simply move them to their in-house “anonymous” account.  That way they can still get all the traffic and benefits from the clearly copyright infringing movies.  This shell game of copyright infringement won’t look good when it comes to light especially in a court of law.  So enjoy it while you can Pornhub, your reap what you sow.

And to the uploaders of Pornhub, why are you still doing this?  Why give a shady corporation your hard work so that they can earn millions while you get nothing in return and they can drop you at their whim?  Time and time again we’ve seen examples where those engaging the ‘work’ of piracy seem to believe that the site they do it for is somehow some sort of socialist utopia, and time and time again we see that myth obliterated as these site owners are shown to be nothing more than the same greedy capitalists the uploaders thought they were rebelling against.

  1. Obviously measures to shut down piracy should have been taken several years ago but it’s never too late. A lot more needs to be done but this is a great start. Hopefully by years end it will be next to impossible to download gigs after gigs of the latest porn with free abandonment.

  2. Unfortunately, this accomplish nothing since torrent sites like Pirate Bay (which is what 99% of filesharers use) are still up and running.

They never, ever remove anything unless it’s child porn.

  3. And the award for predictable “take a shit on anything positive” award goes to….*drumroll*….VINCE!

So Vince, please enlighten me. If 99% of filesharers use Pirate Bay, then how do you explain the Alexa ranks of ALL of the other piracy sites? How was Hotfile.com in the top 80 sites in the world? Ranked higher worldwide than TPB was? Rapidshare? Megaupload? How is torrentz.eu #216 in the world? Who is using Isohunt at #223 in the world? How’d Filestube get a #135 alexa rank if 99% of filesharers aren’t using them? So 99% of the filesharers use TPB but yet these other sites have killer traffic of…I guess just typo traffic or something? I don’t get it.

How can you explain the alexa surge of Cheggit when the industry got Empornium and PureTNA shut down? Why is there a 50+pg of Hotfile uploaders whining on wjunction who got their uploader accounts killed thanks to the adult industry and the MPAA?

No doubt that TPB is out there and there’s nothing I can do about them. But to take the, I’m sorry but just stupid, stance of straight up negativity…makes you look exactly like the prototypical internet wannabe knowitall that exists solely to take a shit on anything everyone else ever says. Don’t you have some amusing yourself to do by posting what you think are witty snark comments on youtube videos?

  4. Way to go Nate, keep on telling internet geeks like Vince the TROOF!

  5. Having followed the Pirate Bay trial(s) very closely, I think it’s very safe to say that PB is the gigantic elephant in the room and most definitely the biggest offender. I have never even heard of some of the sites you are mentioning – and I’m your average internet surfer. But the world knows PB, as they know Rapidshare. I think it’s great that someone is making a successful business removing illegal content, however until you can put a stop to beasts like PB, (and most likely not even then) you will never win the war. Sad but true.

  6. While they are busy blocking all the folks from downloading illegal content maybe they can spare some time to look at all the folks in the porn industry doing sneaky stuff to rip off the people that buy the DVDs (which drove them to try and get content for free).

Companies that double bill paying fans, or make it a reoccuring billing and to cancel this you have to jump thru hoops of fire, charge people for movies and they never get delivered? Once I bought a movie with Lisa DeLeeuw on the cover and when the movie arrived she wasn’t even in the movie. Or the way the companies repackage the same scenes and call it a new movie. You order the movie and when it gets delivered its the same movie you already have with the same scenes only it has a new name making you think its something different. I see this alot in IR scenes. A bunch of Shane Diesel stuff is like that.

If I go to Amazon.com and order Star Wars or The Godfather I will be 100% sure that when the DVD arrives its the movie I ordered. With porn you always wonder if you are gonna get what you paid for.

More then once I bought a DVD and when the movie arrived it was on a home made DVD like the guy burns them in his garage and they aren’t even in the original box with the color box cover with the girl on the front. The porn industry is full of scammers and if you want to be seen as a legit industry like movies, tv, or music then you gotta start cleaning up the crooks as well.

  7. Prices are too high given the excessive quantity and superficial quality of all content in distribution and THAT’S the elephant in the room.
