Dave Cummings On Politics & Porn

I’ve been in battles many times, be it with grade school bullies, scholastic deadlines, or the Viet Cong. Now into my 17th year of involvement with the Adult Entertainment Industry, current battles are many and some seem considerably ill-targeted, for example; religiously radical and/or self-appointed (fundraising?) civic/business organizations and legislators who seem to think that their God, or the 2010 elections, gave them extraordinary power to reload their shot guns and target politically legitimate porn. Why can’t they instead vigorously go after child porn, terrorists, government ineptness, illegitimate stuff, policies that cost the economy and jobs, and the many other mega matters that America needs targeted like laser-guided bombs?
Also, the continued threat of the U.S.C. 2257 monstrosity which seems like a perfect example of a huge and unnecessary record-keeping bureaucracy that seemingly wastes tax payer dollars during these times of huge deficits by using sledge hammers to break an egg, instead of merely querying porn producers by email/fax/letter/etc to obtain copies of actresses or actors date of birth documents should they have any doubts about a film participant not being the legal age of 18 at the time of the filming—this is 2011, and communications can cheaply and effectively replace manpower-heavy teams of federal costly regulation-writers, “researchers” and inspectors.
Likewise, the State of Californian, via its CA/OSHA, is threading into on-set health and safety issues that might well be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and will shut down or severely hinder legitimate Freeman v. California porn-making by requiring barriers such as condoms, and possibly even dental dams, for the same actions that off-set Americans in California privately anticipate in with regularity without CA/OSHA oversight. If CA/OSHA gets to control and mandate job-killing regulations  on present day porn sets, might they subsequently be someday mandating and somehow monitoring their regulations in your bedrooms, too?  Will legitimate California porn-making be forced to take it’s jobs/tax revenues  and money to other locations, or “underground”, just because it’s the only way to provide condom-less porn and provide viewers with the reality entertainment that so many demand to see? Will (some harsher?) porn from other countries become a black-market in America, further eroding jobs, sale taxes, income taxes, and spendable revenues—will it wrongly connote to some viewers that treating woman roughly/fisting/choking is normal lovemaking? Yikes!
The most worrisome present battle seems to be the ILLEGAL piracy and copyright infringing that’s killing off porn production companies because of the ILLEGAL copying and uploading for subsequent ILLEGAL downloading by the masses of past customers who now “take” porn off of the Internet without LAWFULLY paying for it. I keep hoping that someone will soon surface with a hack-proof way to embed porn in such a way that it can’t be uploaded or downloaded by the people who are ILLEGALLY pirating and/or criminally downloading porn.
Yes, the battles are many, and the outlook seems relatively dismal to me. Now, what I expressed above in merely my personal opinion, but more and more, I’m worrying that porn-making in America is looking like it’s heading towards a hospice situation where recovery is extremely “iffy”. YIKES!
Be well, safe, healthy, and happy.

Condoms for oral, vagina and anal, dental jams and latex gloves for finger banging would still not make porn “safe”, only virtually worthless. Does anyone dispute this? We’re talking about sex or “making love”, not a doctor’s visit.

Porn will always have risks and ramifications, but it is our inherent right to choose, not any Orwellian dick-tatorship!

  2. Thank you Jeremiah for finally just saying flat out that pornis not safe.

But employees do NOT have the ‘right’ to choose wheter or not to follow the law in the workplace.

NOBODY has the ‘right’ to choose wheter or not they will follow the law. Just becuase you WANT to do something does not mean you have the right to do it.

  3. Jeremiah, Please read the AHF proposal. It explicitly eliminates dental dams, goggles and gloves for adult industry workers. Why do all you porn guys keep making references to goggles and dental dams when they are specifically left out of the AFH proposal.

Ask Mr. Whiteacre, he claims to have read the proposal. He knows what I just wrote here is a fact, of course he will never admit it.

  4. Michael Whiteacre says:

@Joe – Yes, I have read it, Joe. But AHF doesn’t promulgate regulations. AHF is not OSHA, and all of the proposals and briefs I’ve seen with OSHA’s name on it include those things, INCLUDING the OSHA presentation which was included in (though not presented live at) the UCLA School of Law “Condoms In The Adult Film Industry” panel that I — and you? — attended in November 2010.

Weinstein knows that if he proposed a regime THAT ridiculous, porn studios would SURELY flee, and then AHF, and the other condom peddlers and salesmen for big pharma, would lose the best advertising that money didn’t have to buy in order to maintain HIV/AIDS hysteria — condoms included in every porn movie!

They want to use adult films as a marketing campaign for their agenda. On this point Jeremy and Clark Baker are 100% correct. If the regs are too strenuous, however, AHF’s plan fails because movies which would comport themselves to OSHA’s standard would never be made.

So, yes, what you wrote above is factual, it’s just totally beside the point.

What are you talking about, Joe? I was quoted in the L.A. Times during the OSHA meeting for saying making things safer still does not make it safe.

And laws are made and unmade. Originally when the Constitution was written women and blacks were not amongst the men who were all created equal.

The government is supposed to be expressing the will of the people. We tend to forget that.

Forcing condoms on genitals is fascist and still does not quarantee safety- it will cause more problems without solving any. If any performer of producer insists on condom use than it is their right to require it and it is the performers right who are booked to work with them to go along with it or to not work for that producer or with another performer who insists on using a condom. The authority should remain with each individual acting in concert with other individuals and companies.

The porn industry can never be as dirty and a money grubbing whore as the AHF. Their latest claim is “people before profit”, but Weinstein is filthy rich and seeking more money and power through his attempts at controlling our sexual expression.

We need a revolution against these tyrants such as is happening in Egypt. Just because Weinstein wants more profits and power doesn’t mean he has a right to have his hands on my cock.

There’s a reason AHF has been accused multiple times of EXTORTION!!!!

Who the fuck cares what they propose? The AHF are NOT our elected officials! They are a for-profit organization pretending to be a non-profit organization and their proposal falls far short of safety, anyways. 80-90% of the population “has oral herpes”. If they really want to make us safe they should just seek to outlaw porn and outlaw sex, altogether except for purposes of procreation, but again they are not our elected officials, and if our elected officials are working for them and not us we should run them out of office!

  7. Who is the blonde???

  13. Damn, you got some researching skills, Fartz.

  14. working in a porn shop + bad economy + internet = I can find just about anything porn related.

  15. Wow, Jeremy, it’s amazing how much sense you actually make when you’re not playing your famous Six Ways from 911 Conspiracies game.

  16. jeremysteele11 says:

    Thanks Fartz.

It all comes down to how far down the rabbit hole you are willing to go. The further down the road of discovery you travel the stranger things become, but remember the truth is stranger than fiction.

And since you brought up 9/11 I would recommend
    pilotsfor911truth dot org
    or scholarsfor911truth dot org

Actual pilots and scholars say the official 9/11 conspiracy theory is completely bogus. Now are you going to tell an airline pilot or air traffic controller that he doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about in his field? Of course not!
