Big Change at AIM

Very reliable sources are telling me that AIM is going to become a private for profit clinic. They are dropping the 501cs status

I wonder if that means there will be change in leadership etc.

  2. Yes doc, there will be a change.
The Board of Directors will now become OWNERS, and make alot more money. And they will no longer be constrained by 501c3 rules regarding political activism.

Yes, AIM is dropping the 501cs status.

I fisrt suggested this in May 2004. This is long overdue. This is a great move Mitch, the County’s ability to continue its harrasment of AIM is severley curtalied by this move. Of course there are pros and cons to every decision made in a political battle, but in this case the pros far outweigh the cons.

I can only imagine that Mitch did not make this move without serious consideration and good advice from several sources. To anybody who is critical of Mitch for doing this I will just say one thing. Walk a mile in her shoes and then get back to me. No matter what AHF.OSHA or the County does, Mitch always lands on her feet. This couldn’t have been an easy decision. I would just like to see some industry people publicly voice their support for AIM and Mitch, they both deserve it.

@joe Directorship does not equal ownership. Directors of both non-profit and for-profit corporations can earn fees and salaries, or take none. We will have to see exactly how the corporation is restructured.

As for whether or not they might make more money, there stands a good chance there will actually be less money to go around now that the corporation’s revenues will be treated differently under IRS rules.

There’s rarely really anything as a “non-profit” organization, anyway. My dad’s one of the rare exceptions- created a small foundation and doesn’t take anything for it, no salary, no nuthin’. He believes in karma, and stuff like that, which is why he created it.

    non-profit is bs
lots of churches are non-profit organized but the ministers pay themselves a fat pay-check, whats non profit about that? thats the way it is for non profit organizations such as AHF, i am sure the directors and “employees” make good money on others misfortune..

Scientology is also a Church. All it takes is MONEY and you can purchase any kind of status. All you need is money and you can buy your own dream team. Just ask the Big Pharm.
