Los Angeles County Department of Public Health officials have shut down the San Fernando Valley-based health clinic that serves the porn industry.

[Updated at 11:42 a.m.: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said the clinic was based in San Fernando. It is in Sherman Oaks.]

“We’ve told the clinic they have to notify people of test results that have already been taken and make appropriate referrals. But they cannot provide new services,” said Dr. Jonathan Fielding, the county’s public health director.

Fielding said county public health staff went to the clinic Thursday morning and issued a cease-and-desist order based upon state regulator’s denial of the clinic’s application for a community clinic license.

Adult Industry Medical healthcare’s general manager and lawyers did not return phone calls Thursday. AIM staff answering the phone Thursday morning said the clinic was still open.

Clinic officials were notified that their license application had been denied Tuesday. They applied June 7, state officials said, but Fielding said the application was “incomplete.”

“They hadn’t done all the things necessary to comply,” he said, but would not elaborate and referred questions to state public health officials, who did not immediately return phone calls or e-mail Thursday.

The nonprofit AIM clinic opened in 1998. Fielding said county public health officials did not become aware that they were operating without a license until April. In May, he said they sent clinic officials a letter advising them that as a nonprofit, they could not operate under an affiliated physician’s license and needed to apply instead for a clinic license.

Fielding said former patients at the clinic are welcome to seek care at county clinics.
“We have on our website a number of places where people can go for testing,” he said. “All the places that we’re involved with are certainly places where people can feel safe — the privacy and confidentiality are maintained.”

Porn producers had relied on the clinic to maintain a database of performers’ test results that they could check prior to filming. It was unclear what would become of that system.

“I don’t know the answer to that — you’ll have to ask them. Our feeling has been that that is not sufficient to fully protect the performers,” Fielding said. “They need to use condoms so that these workers will not be put in a position where they are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases.”

  1. Well, since it seems nobody has made a comment let me be the first.

HELL YEAH!!! It’s about time the Health Department did the right thing and cared about the health and safety of performers.

For anyone who wants help, Pink Cross is here for you and we’re not going anywhere. We the ex porn stars are going to fight every lie, disease and cruel and illegal treatment that performers are subjected to and we will NEVER give up.

God really loves and cares about you.

    @SL
If you are lucky to shut down the industry, then those ex pornstars will have to work in the other adult industry, i am sure you know which one i am referring.
in that industry there is no regulations whatsoever..

btw, since this guy is now an ex pornstar with a disease, i am guessing you are helping him with support and treatments?

  3. @SL Ok, so AIM is shut down. Where are adult film stars going to get tested now? AHF?

I wonder if the entire industry is eviscerated, then what would happen to you and your little foundation? Would you go after pro wrestling next, since they have “comparable statistics” to the porn industry with the suicides and all?

  4. Not to worry My God has a plan! Get ready for the impossible! He loves you and has an awesome plan for your lives!!

Need to test while aim is shut down? Talent testing services in reseda is open 9am until 430 pm tomorrow 12-10-2010 call them first to let DUDE know you ALL cuming in to test. They have to sound the samples to MIAMI to run through there labs. I knew this was going to happen! Only in LA(shithole capitol of California). People have no teeth here anymore. Happy holidays.

Thats your God Shelley, not mine. Even the Pope is more respectful than you. You know what’s gonna happen, wildcat productions, you gonna help those folks Shelley? Damn you Shelley, you got your wish, oddly you could be adding names to your silly porn death list cause of your stupidity.

  7. Religious people like Shelly are the most hypocritical in the world. Of course, she had to hit rock bottom before she became victim to the oldest scam in history.

“You’re poor? You’re a scumbag? You’re a diseased ridden drug addict? Here, take my hand and trust in the Lord. HE, Who is almighty, omniscient, and all knowing will take care of you. WINK! WINK!!!”

Looks like I have to point out the obvious, because nobody else has. It’s all clear now, this is a conspiracy, the whole thing from start to finish plays out like a nice little conspiracy story: OSHA meetings, AHF complaints, various law suits and now the latest excuse about the state regulator’s denial of the clinic’s application for a community clinic license. It’s all funded and orchestrated by AHF, and it has nothing to do with the performer’s health and safety. It’s all about the business and the money. AHF wants to drive AIM out of the business and take over the adult industry market and create a monopoly. They were working on this plan for more than a year. Once AIM is out of the business, more likely OSHA, with AHF’s participation, will set some lousy guidelines and encourage the adult industry to use condoms in porn scenes. However, nobody is going to enforce anything on anybody, they don’t have the resources for policing an industry as diverse as the adult and they have no intention to interfere with the adult industry’s business, either. All along, they wanted to expand their business and have a piece of the pie, and looks like they’re going to get it.

As for the performers, it won’t make a difference where they get tested and who they pay for their tests. On the upside, perhaps AHF offers more convenient prices.

Meanwhile, fools like Shelly Lubben put their ass on the line and lobby for sleazy organizations like AHF and delude themselves they’re helping a greater cause and doing the works of an invisible god. Some things never change.

In the next few days, I might write a full article on this topic and explain it in further details.

  9. Their is only one problem with your theory Colonel.

AIDS Healthcare Foundaion has never, and never will charge anybody for HIV tests. Every single HIV tests AHF has ever done has been FOR FREE to the patient.

Colonel, read the article on AVN.
AIM’s property lease says AIM HEALTHCARE,,,,the licens applications says ADULT INDUSTY MEDICAL

The two dont match,,,that is why they were closed. It willbe cleared up BEFORE the end of business tomorrow…..It is hilarious to see all these conclusions that everybody is jumping to before getting even one shred of the actual facts.

But dont let the facts get in the way of a good story.

One more major flaw in your theory Colonel,,,,OSHA does not have the authority to make PRE EMPLOYMENT testing mandatory, nor do they have the authority to oversee any voluntary program. Ive mentiond this on this site at least 20 times in the last two years.

OOPS one more major flaw,,,Enforcement for OSHA would be SIMPLE,,,just use the ACTUAL film itself,,,as they have done SUCCESSFULLY in the past.

only in Shelley Lubben’s mind does closing down the center where porn performers safely test for diseases equate to making the industry safer. huh? what did i miss there? Once again, how is closing down the vehicle that righted the porn ship in the face of the Marc Wallice phony HIV tests HELP our industry? I must be missing something.

  11. Tim Tritch says:

How dare these health care officials try do deny medical services to anyone, let alone on the basis of an incorrectly filled out government form. Taking away a patients right to choose where to get their helatcare needs filled is a violation of civil rights and legal action should be taken.

Time for perfomers to step up and take control of this situation.

Shame on these charlatans for their underhanded, unethical behavior.

  12. The Colonel says:

    Joe Know says:

‘AIDS Healthcare Foundation has never, and will never charge anybody for HIV tests.’

Perhaps not directly under the name AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), but they have and will continue to make money off AIDS, STD, research, testing, etc. Sleazy organizations like AHF have a variety of interests and operate under various different names and slogans.

I know what the alleged reason for shutting AIM down is: The state regulator’s denial of the clinic’s application for a community clinic license. Some bullshit Mickey Mouse excuse, but the question is why now, why it took the authorities 12 years to figure that out? Perhaps AIM will come up with a defense and open shops tomorrow, but if AHF is hell bent on taking over the adult industry, they’ll continue to take their jabs at AIM until run them out of the market for good. The thing is it’s between two business organizations and the outcome doesn’t make a difference for me. I don’t give a shit who’s going to take my piss sample. Period.

I didn’t say OSHA is going to enforce condom regulations, I said it’s likely that they make some lousy guidelines, and if they do, nobody is going to enforce those guidelines and nobody is going to give a fuck.

As for finding the evidence in actual movies, check this out: In one of the recent complaints that OSHA filed based on reviewing the actual movies, 16 companies were listed. One of those companies was Anarchy Films. Here is the interesting fact about Anarchy Films: They haven’t shot anything in the past 3 years. Anarchy Films are the adult industry scavengers who buy recycled scenes from amateurs and freelancers for a cheap price and release those scenes on DVD. Most of the scenes they buy are several years old, and by the time those scenes are being released, most of those amateurs and freelancers who have originally shot the scenes have quit the adult industry and are gone. Talking about chasing the ghosts.

Interesting. Lucky had someone from AIM draw her blood drawn in her car today and then she peed. too. lol. Btw, she’s also on the cover of this weeks LA X-Press again.

Hey Tim, you speak of Patients’ Rights to choose, but patients have lost and are fighting for that right when it comes to AIDS “health care”. Being violated by the immensely rich and powerful AIDS, Inc. is just business as usual.

Up = Down if some lobbyists spend enough money telling you it’s so.

Again, as said, this condom thing is big money for Big Pharm and fulfills an agenda. Meanwhile, as said, condoms don’t make anything safe. The official data states that the chance a condom will break or slip is much greater than the chance of HIV+ transmission without a condom. Meanwhile, most have had some form of herpes. A healthy immune system normally eradicates it just as it did with chicken pox.

Condoms are a violation of our freedom and rights. You want Big Pharm sponsored AHF forcing rubbers on us? These guys are like Hitler. They won’t stop until they rule the world and kill a few million in the name of “saving” them with ADRs.

We are organic creatures with immune systems. Who the fuck do these toxic chemists think they are, God? We should not believe in this madness! They’re making way too much profit to be considered trustworthy and their drugs don’t claim to cure, yet they force us to take them. Eat your heart out, Huxley.

And Shelley, if God wanted us to wear condoms we would have been born with one!

  14. jeremysteele11 says:

AHF has so many fuckin’ dollars. That’s why they have so many fuckin’ billboards all up and down Hollywood and L.A. That want to rule the porn industry. They want everyone to test so they can get more presumptive positives and then push their deadly and extremely expensive chemicals on them. That’s why they offer free testing. They want to get you hooked on Sustiva, which is such an evil fuckin drug that if you try to quit it you can die! Of course they say you’re getting sick because you stopped taking your meds. Anyone who’s done any research into that drug AZT they were pushing has got to have their head deep up their heinie to ever blindly trust these legalized dope pushers.

You want truth? Don’t ask someone who profits based on what they tell/sell you? Clark Baker does his work for FREE, assisting attorneys. One of them already confirmed with me that he was instrumental in getting charges of a serious HIV-related crime dropped. We need to start going after the truth and the AHF, etc. the way the AHF and Big Pharm have been going after us!

  15. Reader Email/Twitter says:

On page 22 today there is the story of AIM being shut down. There is also an obituary of John Leslie. I can only recall 2 other obituaries of porn figures in the Times, John Holmes and Marilyn Chambers. I can only think of 3 others who may qualify, Nina Hartley, John Stagliano and Sharon Mitchell. My interpretation of yesterday’s quote from Dr. Fielding the public health director is that non-condom productions are now banned. Has non-condom production halted?

Anarchy Films, where Johnny Thrust can always get an extra $100, wonder how many of those scenes he shot on someone else’s dime.

  17. Michael Whiteacre says:

@slubben: Don’t worry, crazy eyes, we will NEVER give up exposing you for the fraud that you are.

  18. freepornstarpix says:

What is the Pink Cross going to do for Patient Zeta?

  19. Michael Whiteacre says:

Don’t you know, freepornstarpix? Shelley is going to cure him of his homosexuality.

Check out the video on YouTube entitled “Shelley Lubben Speaks The Truth About Porn Industry” part 4 of 5. It was uploaded in June of 2008.

About 6 minutes and 40 seconds in, she recites some blessed miracles she witnessed while ministering in a California prison:

“God was delivering demons out of people, he was healing them. I mean, gays were turning straight, God was doing miracles right in front of me — it was like being an apostle, it was like ‘Wow!’ This is the life for me!”

Don’t you know, gays need to be cured of their gayness because, according to Shelley, it’s one of the miracles that God told her He does.

  20. Freepornstarpix,,,
What did the adult industry do for Lara Roxx, Missy Arroyo, and Jessica Dee?(Lara Roxx got one 1500.00 check from the Jenna jameson fund),,,can you tell us ANYTHING that the industry did besides that one thing for that one girl)

LETS SEE IF YOU GOT THE BALLS TO ANSWER THIS SIMPLE QUESTION!!!!!!!!
