"He was working as the set dresser on a soft porn film (porn films need set dressers? "You gotta move cameras around, and ashtrays; and continuity is apparently an issue") when Jennifer Westfeldt, who was at that point a distant acquaintance of Hamm’s, invited him to be in a play she was working on in New York. "I came in after another 12-hour day [on the porn film] to this message on my answer phone, and I was so exhausted and depressed and bone tired that I called her back immediately: ‘Yes! I don’t care what it is!’"
There’s never more than 1 or 2 degrees of separation between anything and porn, these days.
Hamm could’ve easily ended up a cock monkey meat puppet instead of a set dresser on a porn set or a mainstream flavor of the month… Then he’d be plenty dignified while plowing them babes.
He has talked about this before. No I don’t think he would have ended up in porn. This was more then 10 years ago when more $$$ was put into those late night skinemax movies and most of the guys and girls weren’t established porn talent, but were people that were still trying to make it in mainstream Hollywood.
Funny enough, there were quite a few gay men who worked in skinemax softcore movies at the time including the guy that played Dr. Craig Wesley on Days of Our Lives (Kevin Spirtas), and Robert Gant who was on Queer as Folk for years.
