A license application by brothel owner Dennis Hof received the approval of the Nye County License and Liquor Board at its Tuesday meeting.
The board voted unanimously to approve Hof’s license applications for both the Cherry Patch and Mabel’s brothels in Crystal. The approval clears the way for the purchase of the two brothels, which are currently owned by Joe Richards.
“I went through a learning curve on the other place,” Hoff told the PVT. “We’re going to take over hopefully in the next week or so. We’ve got to close escrow, and the previous owner, of course, doesn’t want anybody to take over his property until the escrows close.”
Hof said he plans to make changes to the two Crystal brothels, initially just to the décor but also to expand the buildings to include a restaurant and a bar.
“We want to build a place where everybody in Crystal can just come down and have iced tea or a beer and hang out and talk to us and just make it a very friendly, friendly, place. That’s what we’re about,” he said.
Hof is the owner of two other brothels in Nevada: the Moonlight Bunny Ranch and the Love Ranch, based in Carson City. He is also featured in the HBO series “Cathouse,” which revolves around the day to day goings-on at his brothels, and which is now in its ninth season.
“We’re going to make it fun, just like the Bunny Ranch,” explained Hof. “The Bunny Ranch is the most successful, most well-known brothel in the world, and very soon the Crystal properties will be the same way.”

I realise Hof may want to make the place look plain from the outside…though the fence round the place and name Bunny Ranch give it away, but on the inside, as we see from Cathouse, its a dive. The bar is right out of someone’s 70s basement, the girls’ rooms look like an Ed Powers set or worse Regan Senter’s. The girls and the johns would be more comfortable in that converted office with the leak stained tiles that TT Boy films his shit movies in.
