The Defense Department will reopen its investigation into employees who are alleged to have downloaded child pornography, a spokesman said Wednesday.
The Pentagon’s Defense Criminal Investigative Service will review 264 cases, according to spokesman Gary Comerford. The department had stopped the reviews because of a lack of resources, he said.
Some of the cases may be referred to military criminal investigations, while cases where it appears a criminal investigation cannot be done will be sent to Defense Department leadership for consideration.
The incidents were part of Project Flicker, a nationwide child pornography sting conducted several years ago by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The Department of Defense released documents pertaining to the sting earlier this summer.
A Yahoo News investigation found that the department followed up on only a fifth of the cases after federal investigators informed it of employee involvement.
"I have tasked Defense Criminal Investigative Service representatives with reviewing each and every Project Flicker and related referral DCIS received so as to ensure action was taken regarding these allegations involving employees of the Department of Defense," James Burch, deputy inspector general for investigations, said in a statement released Wednesday.
Among the employees identified in a series of reports released by the department were some listed as having security clearances at the top secret level or higher. They worked for groups within the department such as the National Security Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office, two of the country’s top intelligence agencies.
Some of the employees are suspected of having used their work computers to view pornographic websites.
Some employees involved in the investigation have pleaded guilty to charges of child pornography, but other inquiries were dropped or are still open. One case against a Defense Department contractor who allegedly admitted to having viewed pornographic material of children was dropped "due to a lack of resources," according to one of the reports from 2009.
Anyone that watches or downloads child porn is a moron and should be punished severly. To work for the govt. and download it at work are folks that are extra stupid. Remember these mental midgets are the ones that are supposed to be keeping our country safe. Its sad to think that people that are as bright as a 5 watt light bulb are in postions of authority and security.

Child porn is just the tip of the iceberg for these fine fellas. There’s not enough money to investigate just like the gov’t limited money to investigate 9/11, once the thread unravels, they might have to then look into child prostitution, and possibly even mind-controlled sex slaves (sounds nutty, but so some say). But if even Clinton apologized for mind control experiments done by the gov’t then logically it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. You’ve heard of human trafficking being a problem. I personally think that the porn industry often PURPOSELY draws porn consumers to the child porn genera (in many instances they at least introduce the concept into the viewer’s mind). Many porn producers go out of their way to depict women who are OF age basically as children and it’s sick. Hell, look quite a few of the supposed “top porn” stars – most of them at first glance look like children.
Fortunately the true “adult” look is making a comeback and quickly – but seriously – as long as you have “women” in porn who are 5’2″ and titless with their hair in pigtails as your “icons” for the adult industry, what do you expect.

I read the Raylene post regarding the disparaging comments regarding her size, Monica. But you stated “as long as we have women who are 5’2″ and titless”, which to me suggested a kind of disparaging remark about such types, which further suggests that perhaps the solution is fake tits in to make more of a “real” woman.

I see your point Jeremiah, my comment could be read as a bit insulting to adult women who are child/teen sized – however you can not deny that quite a large percentage of the adult content produced does depict “women” who are styled to look like young girls/teens (take a look at the recent release Bus Stop Girls – the bus is even a SCHOOL BUS).
If the young girl look floats your boat – fine. However I do feel that all of this teen and “barely legal” porn can and often does plant the seed of pedophilic tastes and tendencies within the porn consumer community (it might even activate/awaken such latent tendencies within some individuals). I’m convinced at this point that many porn consumers probably can not tell the difference at first glance between true “kiddie porn” and porn with talents that are of age but are depicted as appearing quite young. If you need examples I’ll be glad to link you to some.
Just recently Lupe Fuentes was involved in such a case of which she was accused of being underage when in fact she was not – you’re telling me Jeremiah that “Little Lupe” didn’t encourage the concept of sex with an underage girl? Come on. I think it’s possible that her being viewed and depicted repeatedly as a “little girl” could have led to her rather large implants she’s sporting today.
I’ll even go as far as to say that some women in porn DO make the choice to get implants in an effort to get away from the “little girl” image which can (and does) really warp an adult woman’s mind when she’s constantly viewed and treated like a teen (both on and off set – lets be real here).
I feel Rebeca Linares is an example of that. She looked great prior to her implants (and she still looks great post implants) but I DID read an interview she did in regards to her surgery of which she stated that she wanted to feel more mature. Being that she’s so small in stature, I can understand her view point. She was CONSISTENTLY type casted to be a “little girl”.
My issue is that quite a few people currently creating content DO feed off of the “child porn” niche` – yet act “oh so appalled” when consumers fall into getting hooked on TRUE child/early teens porn.
The fact that so many “top porn stars” look like incredibly young girls is disturbing AND quite telling. I’m not just talking body, but FACE too.
Now though I hate to use them as example, I do give props to agencies like La Direct and Adult Talent Managers LA that primarily have rosters of women who look like actual mature ADULTS. I don’t feel you have to have huge breasts to look like a “grown up” but I do think that a bit of a more mature overall look needs to be the standard in adult content (as it was only a few years ago).
Women in their late 20’s and/or early 30’s who are adult industry talents should NOT be feeling like they’re “over the hill” simply because many of the men doing the casting as of current are emotionally stunted at about age 16.

I don’t deny the obvious Monica- girls being portrayed as underage is all the rage. Edgar Allen Poe had a 13 year old wife. “Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed” used to be the creed.
As for America, very few porno people are shooting or performing, so I’m told. I’ve also read that 1 in 7 Americans are now in “poverty” status but I’m sure it’s considerably worse than that because I believe that’s based on last years or the year before’s data. I hear you Jeremiah on America not being what it “used to be” but nothing in life is ever a constant – as the world changes (and in this case as porn changes) you have to improvise and change/adapt along with it via following the trends.
From what I’ve heard as well, many porn talents are not working – and yes, that sucks if you’re someone who only around 6 years ago were averaging 2 to 3 median paying shoots a week. The thing is, 6 years ago – as a porn talent you really didn’t have to use your brain to much – you just would do as your told where as today (and tomorrow) the porn talents are being forced to go Brainy Smurf.
There are other options for adult performers that I don’t see too many talents taking part in, and there are quite a few new technologies that I’m not certain are being utilized to their full potential when it comes to creating adult content.
For example (though I’ve discusses this in the past at great length), even a semi-established adult talent can make quite a bit webcamming. In your situation in particular (if you’re not already) – I feel you and your girlfriend Lucky could be making a KILLING doing couples shows via webcam daily. LIVE couples shows are a huge niche right now.
There are SOOOOOOOO many guys that would pay a pretty good chunk of change to see a live couples webcam show – plus the fact that you’re an “IR” couple, you could probably pull in about 500 a night for only a few hours of work daily if you stick to a set schedule. That is comparable to each of you doing 1 scene a day at today’s lowered adult talent wages.
On top of that you could record the shows and resell them as archives which would make you even more money long term. Oh, and to top it all off, you’d actually own your own product.
Essentially you could build a whole sex reality website featuring you and Lucky that in the long term would wind up becoming pretty popular because you’re an actual REAL couple and you both have a very “hey, we’re everyday people living a fun sexy life” look.
Considering your stance on people having too many kids, you could even promote condom sex in your scenes to show that “safe responsible sex IS sexy sex” and that “over-breeding ain’t cool”.
If I were in your situation I’d see this downturn in the porn world as an opportunity for you to shine and profit. Then again maybe you already know all this…
Thanks for your thoughts Monica. I’m not too knowledgable technically on how to start webcamming, I’m only aware of the web-scammers who want to pay 5o cents for every 5 dollars I earn. I think Lucky and I should just do the church debate tour, like Ron and XXX Church (everytime I hear ‘xxx church’ I go-huh?
