CYBERSPACE—Anybody remember Luke Ford? No? Count yourself as lucky.
We first ran into Luke Ford in the mid-’90s on a Vivid shoot at the "round house" set on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills. He seemed harmless enough, though his was the first yarmulke we’d ever seen on a porn set. He asked a few ineffectual questions, hung out with the rest of the media, then went on his way.
Little did anyone realize he’d turn out to be such an asshole.
Born in Australia to a Protestant minister, and later a convert to Judaism, Ford’s stock-in-trade was gossip, and from about 1995 onward, he’d post, either on his own website or on the rec.arts.movies.erotica (r.a.m.e.) site, pretty much anything anyone told him, good or (mostly) bad, about people and events in the adult industry, with rarely any attempt to ascertain whether what he was told was true. He even created a page on his site that listed performers’ stage names paired with their real names—prime material for stalkers……

Its funny that some stars don’t want to be on this site because people are mean that comment. If a porn star has a really really bad boob job and we say she has a bad boob job they get pissed? Aren’t we just telling the truth?
Couldnt Dingle write a piece about Lukeisback without kicking Luke in the sac? It sullied what was a good piece about Cindi, but still showed the positives about lukeisback. Like him or hate him, Luke did offer a contrast to AVN’s wall of silence. He did do some good investigative reporting.
I agree with you Larry on the fact that Luke did offer something different than AVNs canned pablum catering to companies that pay AVN for the over priced adds. I do think Luke was a dick for disclosing personal information regarding talent. AVN has jumped the shark as far as relevancy with their magazine. Even their online site is mostly trite fluff. The trade shows they used to put on are all but over. For example the ANE founders show this year in Burbank in July will have all the major novelty buyers there. I speak to many of these people on a daily basis and they are not going to Miami in August for the AVN show. I mean how many stupid trade show do you really need to pitch the same products to the same buyers in a year? Why would a company pay major bucks to do a trade show for the same crap a month later? The trade shows are becoming over saturated and stupid. The only purpose they serve is an ego stroke for a lot of douche bags. That’s The Truth!
Scott Fayner writes- Hey, I found the Mark Kernes story funny in that he put down Luke for never checking facts before posting on the old LukeFord.com, but in his current AVN piece about Lukeisback says that I bought the site from Luke, which is untrue. I first worked for LukeFord.com while Net Video Girls owned the site, and then I bought it from them. I believe Luke sold the site for $11,000. I bought it for a few dollars more than that, and then sold it for a few dollars more than that. If you’re writing a story about a man who never checked his facts I would think checking your facts would be of most importance. But I’ve been known to be wrong.
Good point, Karmafan. Criticism doesn’t mean fans are trying to disrespect performers, personally. Don’t parents, sibling and friends (especially the best ones) also criticize?
I think Mark Kernes was too kind about Luke’s careless and oft times fictitious and malicious journalism, although he should be corrected. Luke started in ’97, not ’95.
I believe Bill Margold is credited with having said “Luke Ford is the journalist we deserve”. I must admit Bill did make a good point, as Luke reflected the careless, salacious, morphing telephone gossip of social circles within porn, which can all too often took little to no responsibility in regards to accuracy and it’s damaging affects.
As I’ve said, why let the truth get in the way of a good story? We still hunger like sex addicts for reckless journalistic driving, regardless of whoever it runs over, as if it’s all just a Grant Theft Auto video game. Not so much for the latest long meanderings on Judaism, however; another thing most of us probably don’t miss about the original Fluke Ford.
Who posts would you rather read about the porn industry, Luke Ford or AVN propaganda?

Hustler magazine also once had Luke Ford as it’s featured “Asshole of the Month” around 1999, I think. I think Hustler should also pick an “Asshole of the Year” out of the 12 monthly winners, and then maybe pick an “Asshole of the Decade” (no pun intended with “pick an asshole”).
Btw, it’s just an idea, Cindi. Why don’t you change the name of this site but with LIB still being the address that leads you here? Luke is Gone and he ain’t coming back! Anyone who’s interested in but not familiar with porn news and gossip probably doesn’t find this site name interesting or relevant to porn.
Luke did do a lot of good in many of his stories exposing what needed to be exposed. Not all of it of course but he did do a lot of good work.
I went to AVN mainly for their pictures. But now it seems they got rid of their photographers and get their pictures now from EMMreport & Industry By Rick. So I go to those places now to look at the pictures.
I go to XBiz to mainly read the computer/tech/online stories.
I go to XFanz to watch their videos.
I don’t go to either to read any stories because you can clearly tell it’s very fluff and caters to the industry. How else explain how they sugar-coated what Kayden Kross did to that family and their four children. AVN even allowed her to blame the family who lost their home while Kayden was the one who walked away with over 6 figures. They didn’t ask her anything about the interviews Scott Fayner and Gene Ross did with the key people involved. And they also didn’t ask her what her relationship with Detective Freeman was.
It’s AVN that are the real assholes here. I even remember them backing Slizzy Borden when she made a vile comment in that PBS “American Porn” documentary back in 02.
Anyway, AVN is NOT journalism anyway, just a floundering trade magazine.
I also hate how many of my linking back to AVN is now gone. Dead links or just completely deleted. Stories, videos from AVNLive, and pictures. Why spend all that money when you end up deleting it all? Why even delete the stories? It’s only text which doesn’t take up much bandwidth at all unlike pictures & videos. I checked a link days ago to pictures I had linked to and it’s a broken link. They have the money to hire a webmaster to fix all those links or invest in good software to detect which links are broken. But many are not broken links but are instead just deleted.
Hey Darrah Ford, I bet Luke Ford is lonely. You two should get together. Oh yeah, I think he said he as gay. Or maybe that was just a joke. Probably not. Or maybe you are Luke Ford, himself, after he went permanently off the deep end, masquerading as his feminine alter-ego and his biggest fan. Or maybe “Real Luke Ford Fan” is Luke. Just speculating here.
I often wonder if Luke’s conversion wasnt cause of spiritual growth with the richness of Judaism but cause of wanting to suffer because of the History of Jews. He should try just being a normal person, he wasnt suited to the family’s Adventism and now to his orthodox Judaism.

If AVN keeps selling awards and (now) making talent pay to go to there own awards, AVN won’t be around much longer. Many stars even right now, go to the convention for the fans, but skip the awards.
I know talent had been complaining because AVN actually tried seating stars with fans and fans were un-ruly and propositioning girls. I know a couple people that almost got in a fight in the middle of the awards a couple years back because of this. They just ended up walking out of the awards instead.
I know some of them had refused to go back.. AVN’s numbers are slipping big. A Black talent told me this year that they were at the awards and saw like less then 10 black performers thier LOL.. but hay AVN could give a flying fuck about black people anyway..
They just don’t let it be publicly known because they can’t afford to loose anymore advertising then they already have.

My personal favorite was on red carpet of the first UrbanX Awards and someone yelled out my name and asked for a video interview.. I said yes and started walking over.
As i got to the young gal I saw the AVN box on the mic. I started to walk away, and she was puzzeled. I figured an explanation for my walking away was in order so i turned back. I shortly explained my position and tried to make it clear it was’nt her fault. I coined a phrase right thier and I still believe it.

Funny how AVN doesn’t do stories on blacks as they do on whites but yet they wanted tto cover the Urban X.. i thought that an insult but understand why Stiltz would let it happen
Look back thru the last 18months of AVN mag and look at the articles.. you will see tons in fact almost all articles about stars are about “white” stars. If you ever see an article in AVN about a black person (which is almost never) it’s always about the same people.. I hate to tell ya folks, but Lex, sean, marcus, justin slayer, marie luv, and jada do not account for the black stars shooting the majority of black on black or IR in SFV…
They work and alot true enough, but for those 8-10 performers that AVN acts like are the only black performers in the world puttin out good scenes and quality movies and worth writing about, I will show you another 20 that work more and put out just as good quality product.
The problem and reason… because AVN has neglected to shed light on the blacks and give them credit where credit is due, blacks are over AVN and AVN knows it.. So AVN doesn’t even approach the ones that don’t HAVE to deal with AVN.
second AVN follows the money and if the vivds and wickeds and other white breed and shoting comapnies are givin the dough then AVN is gonna promote the talents that are in there movies which I think we all know is NOT black talent..

It’s funny to a point of absurdity realy.. AVN will publish a story about an ex and retired white female star opening a winery in Napa CA but they won’t go interview a Ray Black who 1 1/2 years into the game had been to Japan with me twice working for the japanese, and also created, produced, and shot four movies through Antigua as his distribution deal.
Maybe AVN just does interviews with white and prodomonately female stars because it get’s em closer for those sexual favors that they cited as the reason they let one of there tops exec’s go 2-3 years ago over. Oh, well that and selling the awards to companies like Vivid..
XBiz never even ran anything David Aaron Clark and Aunt Peg dying earlier this year. They also didn’t say anything about Jamie Gillis dying until two days after he died.
