Recently it’s been brought to my attention that there is a woman or women or a man on the Internet, who are posing as our adult film actresses and asking for money to be sent to them for hospital bills, or some other kind of emergency. This seems to be a growing problem that there’s individuals out there using the girls images and masquerading as them under false pretenses. I won’t mention which of the girls that this happened to recently, but some are our clients here at Galaxy Publicity, so that’s how we found out.
They are using actual pictures of the girls, taken from their sites or from various sites on the Internet. In some cases we understand they write to guys singing some sad story about how they left the porn industry and want to start a new life, but they had a financial emergency and needed money fast, and to please send them money to help them out.
We don’t want to start a panic, and we understand that this is something that has happened a lot on the Internet, recently NBC’s Dateline did a story on this, but since these individuals are targeting adult film actresses, we thought that we should alert everyone about this.
We’ve alerted the authorities, but we thought it might be a good idea to alert the members of our industry about this, so they can keep a look out.
This could be damaging for a girls reputation, and possibly the industry’s reputation, so just be careful. Do a check online, Goggle the name, and check around online, and see what comes up. Especially be careful with social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook and My Space.
It’s pretty bad that individuals are posing as the girls to make money for themselves, and we’d like to see this stopped.
