Obama Apologizes to the Special Olympics

Last week on Jay Leno. President Obama talked about his bowling. He mentioned that he had recently bowled in the white house bowling alley and had a high score of 129, which "was like the Special Olympics or something."

The President later called Timothy Shriver, Chairman of the Special Olympics and apologized and said he would like to have some of the S.O. kids come over to the white house for some bowling.  (NL- Why? So they could kick his ass?)

Does this gaffe piss you off? Was it an okay joke? No big deal? Should it not have been said? What did you think about it?

NL-I think it was a really stupid insensitive thing for him to say.  I thought Obama was smarter than that. (this story and subject matter has nothing to do with porn, but it’s important to a friend of mine. You know who you are.)

  1. He definitely shouldn’t have said it, but I’m not holding it against him. He just goofed. I don’t joke about disabilities. I think Michael Phelps looks like a retard, but that’s because he does, which is different. I have a half brother that’s austistic and joking about things people can’t change is in poor taste. Racial jokes are different depending how they are handled. I think if you want to make fun of someone, do it for their actions.

  2. I agree he shouldn’t have said it. He call the head of the Special Olympics before the show aired and apologized for what he had said, now that is classy. Other politicians would have waited until it became a huge deal before apologizing.
But yes he should have never said it.

  3. The Colonel says:

Fuck this politically correct, cowardice, hypocritical, bankrupt American culture. What’s wrong with calling a retard a retard? It’s calling a spade a spade. Besides, I like retards. They’re funny, they make me laugh.

  4. Everything about Obama is classy.

  5. Haven’t you guys seen The Ringer?

I don’t think that the current crop of national politicians are any good at spontaneous speaking. They all have memorized stump speeches or rehearsed answers to questions the press may ask.

  7. I never saw the Ringer, but I think what they do on South Park, or say what Howard Stern does is different because besides South Park, where are there characters on a show that are retarded? The jokes don’t come from making fun of them, but the shit that they do which is just real life. Same with Howard, they’ll have some jokes at their expense, but he’s still giving them an opportunity.

I agree with the colonel. Fuck political correctness… period. You do not have the right to “not” be offended in this country. You know the old saying “if you can’t take a joke, fuck you”. Sacred cow are good for one thing. That is slaughtering and making hamburger. We are raising spineless wimps in this country. If what a politician or celebrity say’s hurts you and scars your delicate psyche. Then I say you need to go and just hang your self and get out of humanities way. For we don’t need more of the week to reproduce. It is just sick how far over the top political correctness has gone. Political correctness means to lie and deny the truth, and reality to accommodate feelings and or emotions. I say fuck any of you adults and your emotions. Grow up already and deal.

that’s cows sorry i left off an S. I meant “weak” instead of “week”. correction for the anal.

  10. I wasn’t offended at all. Everyone has the right to do what they want. Some make choices to be tact. If tact offends you, I don’t what to tell you. I’m not sure why you equate being tact and being weak.

  11. You ever notice how the “moral” people are really the biggest pieces of shit?

If you know someone who is affected by disability, you are not going to be apt to trash them. If trashing the disabled is spreading the truth, you have big fuckin problems.

  12. The one time Obama leaves the house without his teleprompter and look what happens.

  13. MissBiatch2U says:

    THAT was funny Nekro…..

  14. It’s funny, but it would be funnier if it were true. Compare Obama to Bush and Clinton. Bush goes without saying but loose lips Bubba messed up lots of off the cuff remarks, like his impromptu declassifying of certain things.

  15. This wasn’t about Bush but if you want to go there then if Bush made this same kind of joke there would be shoe throwing and people just flipping the hell out. There hasn’t been much of a scandal over what Obama said and it wasn’t horrible. I think it was tasteless but I’m not going to be crying about it. I just think he needs to keep his teleprompter with him for shows now since he uses it for everything else. Reason I find that funny is because people talk about what a great speaker he is. Kudos to his teleprompter. Bet he takes it to bed with him. 🙂

And I have a cramps so I took something to “relax” so if this makes no sense blame the pills!!!

  16. There are different consequences for different individuals. Obama is known for being very discrete with his tongue, while Bush was always putting his foot in his mouth. So if Bush said the same thing, people would get more upset because he has a reputation for saying stupid things and so the response is not just over the comment, it’s the fact he still hasn’t learned.

Obama has the same white house teleprompter which didn’t help Bush much by the way.

Also, I don’t think the comment was anything crazy, but if you are President you shouldn’t be saying it.

  17. I personally think Obama is already getting away with too much. This guy came from a racist church and he pulled the ignorance card and it was forgotten in five minutes.

And since Bush was known for foot in mouth disease then it shouldn’t be as shocking like when Obama says something stupid.

I heard Obama uses his teleprompter more then any other president. I will have to find links for articles I read this. Ugh I’m sorry my writing is bad. I just woke up and still dealing with eh female issues.

Sorry for making this all political.

  18. The US Media is totally supporting Premier Obambi. All pretenses of impartial coverage are gone.

Just take a look at Newsweek, Time and Vanity Fair.

  19. are you trying to say they are covering up all of his mistakes? if so, what particular mistakes do you think he has made? the things you disagree with haven’t panned out yet. The markets are doing better though.

  20. The reason it didn’t get as much play was because once The President got on Air Force One he called Timothy Shriver the President and apologized, before Leno aired. That is what makes him different from all other Presidents. The others would wait until it blew up and never took responsibility for what they said.

“These words in some respect, can be seen as humiliating or a put-down to people with special needs,” Shriver said. “This language needs to be a teachable moment, I think, for our country.”

    Very well said Timothy!
