I know that everyone has tough times in their lives, I guess this is one of mine.
Six weeks ago, my mother had a back ache. Two weeks ago she had a swollen gland. Last week she went to the emergency ward, they admitted her. Her gland had cancer in it.
Then she had four rounds of chemo in three days. She isn’t eating. She isn’t drinking. She isn’t getting out of bed.
And I am in Florida and she is in upstate NY. I’m sad. I’m scared. I’m in shock.
There is a phrase I say quite often to friends who are complaining about something, ‘ IT AIN’T CANCER."
I don’t say that anymore….
