It’s Not A Good Day

I know that everyone has tough times in their lives, I guess this is one of mine.

Six weeks ago, my mother had a back ache.  Two weeks ago she had a swollen gland.   Last week she went to the emergency ward, they admitted her.  Her gland had cancer in it.

Then she had four rounds of chemo in three days.  She isn’t eating. She isn’t drinking. She isn’t getting out of bed.

And I am in Florida and she is in upstate NY.  I’m sad. I’m scared. I’m in shock.

There is a phrase I say quite often to friends who are complaining about something, ‘ IT AIN’T CANCER."

I don’t say that anymore….

Cindi, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I hope your mother gets well soon. Let us know how she’s doing.

  2. I’m so sorry to hear that Cindi! I’ll be praying for your mother and hope all the best for the new year.

Yes as Jeremy said check into alternative treatments too. It depends on case by case which is best. But seeking many other opinions has never hurt.

Cancer is a business, not a death sentence. Educate yourself. Don’t trust the med/pharma establishment same as you wouldn’t trust a lawyer or auto mechanic. Check out naturalnews.com and read everything there about cancer. It just may help save your mother’s life. Good luck!

I feel you. My grandmother had another “episode” last night. She went to the emergency room yet again, and nothing was different other than she keeps forgetting that she isn’t eating and she is on way too many medications.

    Best of luck. 🙂

  5. Believe or not, I do believe in science. Try to get your mother into one of those testing programs that the FDA demands to life saving cancer drugs and ensure that the drugs are not going to be available on ten years and cost ten grands.

My father died of lung cancer (yes he smoked) and the experimental drug that could have saved or prolonged his life was developed about 2 months after his death and still is mired in bureaucratic testing today.
They use the same smart principle that the new anticocaine vaccines being tested now. Put chemical makers on the cancer cells to allow the body to destroy them themselves instead of the shotgun tactics of Chemo.

  6. Cindi, I am so sorry about your mom, but I am sure that it was caught earlier enough and she will battle back. I have had many people in my life receive this “cancer” diagnosis and I am happy to say they are still with me.
If you trust her doctors keep them, if not get as many opinions as you can. New York has excellent doctors, and I have a few in the business. If you would like to run some names by me, I am happy to check them with my doctor friend for you.
Stay busy and talk to her as much as you can.
Chemo is going to put her in a sleep stupor, so don’t stress if she is always sleeping when you call.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Keep hope alive! Cancer can be beaten. Happy & healthier 2009 to you and your family, NL.

  9. i had a cancer scare a few years ago.The tumor grew to 10 pounds in a few short months. It wasn’t cancer but the emotions tied to the whole process was unnerving. I pray your mother gets the right treatment, the right doctors and gets her life and health back as quickly as possible.

  10. Cindi, I just sent you an email on this…
