By now many of you have heard that Max Hardcore was sentenced to 46 months in Federal Prison for his obscenity charge. He will spend his time in a minimum security prison and was fined $7,500 personally and $75,000 to his company on 10 counts of distributing obscene videos through the mail and the Internet. He will appeal the decision of course, but it looks more and more like Max will spend a considerable amount of time behind bars.
I have reviewed Max’s movies for years. I’ve had some good things to say about some of them (Max World 16 and Video Games). I have also had some harsh criticisms of his work over the years. (Hardcore Schoolgirls 16 to name one.) We have not had a great professional relationship over the past several years either. When he was with Legend he had every box from them labeled “No Max” once I was removed from a screener list. No big deal there. Companies and individuals can and do pull people from screener lists. He also refused interview requests and made it fairly clear to anyone who would listen that he didn’t think much of me. Also fine. I don’t expect people to buddy up to me when I say harsh things.
Over the years I have heard so many things about Max that I could probably have made him a constant topic of conversation. Most of these things were said off the record, in casual conversation or in interviews with people who just didn’t want to stir up trouble. Other items were said in confidence or were things that I didn’t want to print to because they were pretty horrible and ultimately not things I could prove. To be fair I also heard some good things about Max. Performers I trust told me in private conversations that they enjoyed working with Max, that he was respectful and that they would work with him again.
So was I filled with mixed feelings when Max went down? Was I happy to see him busted?
In short, no. Because I think he is a great guy? No. Because I think that every rumor about him is untrue? No. Because I think he is an innocent victim? Hell no.
I am unhappy that Max is going to prison because he is going there for making movies. The Feds got him for obscenity. They are sending a man to jail for nearly four years for making adult material between (As far as we KNOW) consenting adults. Max is going to prison not for the things many accuse him of (Including by the way some truly horrible acts that SHOULD land anyone who commits them in jail for much longer than 4 years), not for violence against women, drugs, rape or any number of things. He is going to jail for making PORN.
Let that sink in. That should scare the living shit out everyone reading this. You may not like Max’s porn. I haven’t watched in years and wouldn’t want to. But so what? If someone makes movies you don’t like, writes books you don’t like, sings songs you don’t like or paints pictures you don’t like you simply ignore them. You don’t put a person in jail for the art he or she creates. There are many of you reading this who probably figure “Hey, he got what he deserved” and you are welcome to that opinion. Maybe he’s done some horrible things and deserves to be in jail for something. I just can’t sit around and be happy that anyone, even Max, is going to jail for this. For making fucking movies. What happens if it’s John Stagliano next? Or Jules Jordan? Or Eli Cross? What then?
Before any of you think that I’m defending Max or declaring him innocent of all things, stop. That isn’t what I’m doing. I am not ignoring the things I have heard, the things I believe and even the things I know. He just wasn’t on trail for any of those things. I’m not playing Devil’s Advocate here either. I don’t buy into the idea that we necessarily have to forgive all sins just because he’s up there fighting for freedom. Max is who he is. Many people despise him and for some this will always be cosmic justice. (Like OJ going away from something small after getting away with murder or Al Capone going to jail for income tax evasion.) I can understand those feelings, but that is another discussion for another day.
I am genuinely disturbed that Max is going to prison for obscenity. He is not going to jail for what he might have done, what people say he did or what a lot of people would like to see him behind bars for allegedly doing. If he had been convicted of beating someone, raping someone or killing someone I would feel completely different. In this case I am concerned with what he was convicted of and that scares the shit out of me.
Regardless of what I may think of Max, what he may think of me, what he may have done or what he may represent to many people, he is going to prison for making movies. And on that, I have no mixed feelings, none whatsoever.
NOTE: I welcome all feedback, agree or disagree. This is an important issue and I would love to post as many differing points of view as possible.

You think as long as a camera rolls, that will justify any heinous and vile act of abuse, dehumanization and traumatization, and that’s one of the most horrible and pathetic excuses I’ve heard in my life. Back in the 90’s when Serbs invaded Bosnia to kill all the muslem population, they used to film raping pregnant women and young girls and boys and killing them in brutal ways. By your logic, those atrocious acts must be justifyable, too, only because they were filmed, Serbs were ‘making movies’. I don’t know if you ever talked to girls who were in a Max Hardcore video, but I have talked to several of them, and they all agree on two things:
1. Prior to shooting the scene, they didn’t fully know and understand what they were getting themselves into, they signed on to do an anal scene, but they ended up saying disturbing things about their parents, puking and drinking piss. Max might have shot a disclaimer with them after finishing the scene, and they had to say whatever he wanted them to say on that disclaimer just to get their money and get out of his house, but that doesn’t fool anybody with half a brian.
2. Many months or years later, many double penetration and gang bang scenes and wierd private clients later, the events of that single day of working with Max Hardcore still huants them and disturbs them, and that speaks in volumes.
If any of you have mixed feelings or doubts about Max Hardcore’s situation, then try this: imagine he’s ‘making movies’ with your own duaghter or sister or girl friend or wife, and see you would you feel, then. I hope the prison bleeds Max Hardcore financially and breaks his spirit so once he’s gone, he stays gone. Despite how bad the world is, but still it would be a better place without him.

Perhaps you just didn’t read what I wrote carefully enough.
I never said that a camera justifies “any heinous and vile act of abuse, dehumanization and traumatization.” In fact I was rather explicit in pointing out just the opposite.
All of what you have heard may be 100% true. That doesn’t change the fact that Max wasn’t charged with rape or assault. He was charged with what was on those DVDs. His content was found to be illegal and landed him in jail.
I understand your point. The problem is you’re fighting against a point I never made.
As I said in my post the arguments you listed are completely valid and should be discussed. If Max is guilty of everything you lay out here he should be put on trial for that. But that isn’t the case so we are left with what we can prove in court.
Rog, the judicial system in this country is complex and corrupt, there are only a very few people who still believe in justice, and they’re in an all out war against a crippling system that most of the times rewards the criminal and turns a blind eye on the victem, hence they must fight tooth and nail and get dirty to get the things done.
Everybody knows and agrees that Max Hardcore is a sadist abuser who violates and scars naive girls physically, mentally and emotionally and does it all under the pretence of making movies and taking advantage of his first amendment, but due to complexity of our beurocratic judicial system, most probably he could never be put on trial for the actual crimes he’s been committing for years, so they found an alternative in obscenity charges, remember, Al Capone didn’t go to prison for organizing a crime band, he went to prison for tax evasion charges, but the end justifies the means, the important thing is that Max Hardcore is going out of the adult business, he can no longer damage lives, and even though I support the first amendment and freedom of expression, but I will not support someone like Max Hardcore who violates defendless victems and hides behind the first amendment.

Like Roger, who I agree with wholeheartedly in his sentiments here, I have been made privy to a wide variety of performers that claimed he was not the demon some make him out to be (even suggesting they would work for him again). When you make such claims as “Everybody knows and agrees…”, you come across as far more omniscient than your previous statement that relied so heavily on how you “talked to several of them”, a case of embellishment perhaps?
Max has shot hundreds, maybe thousands, of scenes with a huge number of women over the years and while many (myself included) find his work distasteful, even gross, there is NO PROOF by any credible witness that those scenes did not involve consenting adults. You don’t have to rally around him as though he was your hero to understand that there is a slippery slope involved with obscenity cases, many people around the world perfectly willing to join you in closing down the entire industry because they don’t want any of us to have a choice in what we watch.

In regards to your other claim that some girls portray Max Hardcore as a nice guy and suggested they will work for him again, I have met those girls, too, and found them financialy unstable and mentally ill, one of them who lived with Max Hardcoer for a short period of time, was in a previous relationship with a drug addict who during his parties, used to force her to sit in the bathtub so his guests take turns and piss on her. These are the kind of girls who might say Max Hardcore is a nice guy, I’ll leave that to your intelligence and integrity to determine the credibility of those girls.

Col, circular reasoning such as you repeatedly use is fine for grade school debates but it doesn’t impress very many adults. Masters & Johnson has a substantial body of research that indicates “rough sex” acts are popular enough to be labeled as something other than a small niche (research that has replicated a number of times by a variety of clinical studies) and a lot more people enjoy watching it. Just because their tastes differ from yours, Roger’s or my own does not negate that it gets them off.
I appreciate that you are unable to differentiate between “acting” and real life but those that enjoy such material (either participating in it or simply watching it) have seen fit to vote with their dollars and buy it long enough for Max to make a darned good living. Regarding your Nietzsche-tainted rhetoric, don’t be surprised when your turn at the wheel of justice comes around and the crowd murmurs something to the effect that “all pornographers should burn in hell” while they find a rope and a tree to circumvent that evil justice system you rant about on one hand while praising it on the other (I’m not too comfortable with the idea that a select few may engage in a star chamber form of justice based not on the rule of law but on “people in this crippled and corrupt judicial system who go above and beyond the frustrating bureaucracy and limitations to do what is necessary and needs to be done”).
If the government would be willing to provide a list of sex acts or specific conduct they would be prosecuting, I’d be less concerned but whether you agree or not, there are communities in this country that would likely find a copy of Playboy obscene so go ahead and turn yourself in to the nearest gulag since you have such contempt for our Constitutional protections and rights. And as far as “Max Hardcore’s situation has got nothing to do with the government”, you might want to look at the document that charged him with a crime, ask to see who employed the prosecution, and remember that a criminal trial has everything to do with the government, especially a system that would hold him responsible for the acts of a government witness (Jaded Video sold those movies to a community Paul expressly told them not to, not Max).
Max is a piece of crap, still think the charges in Florida for obscenity were weak. He should’ve been tried here(CA) for what he did to the girls here, on and off film, especially when he’s loaded. I watched an old euro style scene he did with Fawnna and Cloey Adams. Cloey was his accomplice here. Of course, he has Fawnna do a disclaimer after the shoot that everything was okay. Col, whether I know him personally or not is not the issue. The issue is that the government brought charges against him for distributing a movie in a specific location when he did not authorize said distribution; a movie made by consenting adults for the benefit of other consenting adults, and all your fascist rhetoric doesn’t change that.
If Max has done all that you say and you have personal, first hand knowledge (or even from credible sources), by all means go be a snitch and drop a dime on him.
