Shelley have several crusades going on at the same time. The two more worthiest are, getting porngirls, escorts and strippers who are unhappy and miserable but cannot quit their jobs because they are addicted to drugs, attention and easy money and feel that they cannot do anything else in life to take the big step to quit and search for help elsewere. The second is increasing in evangelical churches awareness of the side efects of a abusive childhood on adult women and how that leads some women to sex work or/and abusive relationships.
More controversial if her porn is bad stance. But since porn have been glamorized, many girls do not know what are getting into need that info and porn if doing a bad job rejecting the girls that should not be here. And negative for Shelley is her ties to the religuous right and the Jesus is the only answer position. Many she should say Jesus is the best answer and have non religuous alternatives at hand. And the lets ban all porn policies of the religious right not only are imposible to comply but also are worse for the women involved. Legitimizing porn even in a marginal but legal part of society in change will make it behave like a responsible industry. Will any legitimate industry allow high levels of substance abuse among their workers? Will allow a high number of workers with mental illneses? Will pay no compensation for work related injuries and diseases? Will allow non authorized use or a worker image? By threating porn as a legitimate industry actually you make it more human.

Shelley Lubben could improve her witness. Catfighting, even against those women she regards as “bitchy,” distracts, and hardly displays compassion. Contending who was the real deal, with accompanying particulars or roles and acts, distracts. I could elaborate; someone may call me on that.
Certainly many have come to porn from unhappy and even abusive backgrounds, but others have not. Not every peruser or consumer of porn has the problems Shelley Lubben speaks of and accompanies with ostensibly scientific findings. Credibility is important.
What if all porn actors and all porn consumers came from awful backgrounds and had awful experiences caused by porn? What if all porn actors and all porn consumers came from sound backgrounds and avoided all dire adverse effects of a non-spiritual nature? The basic message presented to them, from a spiritual standpoint, should be the same in either case, at least if the New Testament carries any weight.

In the UK we have the Citizens Advice Bureau a kind of poor persons lawyer which is free and almost totally non judgmental so anyone can walk in there and be given fee information about any options available, its used mainly by people who have debt problems. They draw a line a anyone being homophobic and racist in the interview room.
Maybe that’s what P.A.W. should be doing for the business.

Well there is a reason why Bill Margold good efforts failed.
First, I think many pornographers what legality without responsablilty. Second, as Since 96 told, there is no common filter to screem the women and some men who are entering the industry.
There is a denial that fucking strangers for money might made some people mentally unestable. All is blamed on bad choices by said individual instead of mental illness.
About that Jesus think, while I agree there should be a altenative answer, many movements in western culture started as especific Christian movements before becoming secularized. I have been following with interest the sex workers recovery/survivors of sex industry concept for a while and I have found that they eventually will follow the same path. They are a by product of the legitimacy and grow of the sex industry and the internet, which made difficult to ex-whores to hide their past and made posible for like minded women to network. Even if I disagree with Shelley evangelical christian beliefs, I agree that first, the high power stuff is more efective that the almost not existant secular alternatives. Second that being a evangelical she have deeper pockets that more ecumenical minded alternatives who are almost unknown. Third, that right now there is not secular alternative to Ms Lubben, Dust, Veitch, Lobert and others.
I remember that in a feminist forum an Australian prostitute posted, “is not easy to stop being a whore, I what to quit but dislike the right wing Jesus thing.” The best answers the feminists could find were some non profit colectives in Chicago and San Fran. Undefunded, underpublished. And even those are faith based, often Catholic or mainstream prostestant. The truth is that for the rest of society whores are disposable women. Once they are used up or shotout their future or lack of it does not matter. I do not see agnostics or atheists lining up to help.
