So here’s what happened. I went into my Edit Profile to add 2 new links: one for my Ebay auctions (http://www.kylieireland.com/ebay/index.html) and one to vote for me and my movies at the upcoming Nightmoves Awards Show (www.nmaea.com). And you know what I discovered after much frustration and wondering why my links weren’t working properly? That I had done all my html correctly and my URLs were all correct…but for some reason the links on the actual profile page kept going back to a MySpace page. Why? It seems MySpace has implemented a new script that automatically changes all your newly added links (and most of your existing ones too) to this.
Nope. I am not fucking kidding you. And it’s not just links to porn sites that it changes either – it’s EVERY link. Every link on my profile page was changed to their URL. Even the banner links. My podcast links too. Very occasionally I get one to stay put – very occasionally. And when I went in to correct them, making sure to do it carefully and correctly, as soon as I changed it and hit save, their script changed it back. So WTF is that about?
I had Eli check his page and most of his had been converted too. I have been banging my head on my desk all afternoon.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is this MySpace quietly taking control? Is it just the porn sites? Please check YOUR links and let me know – I am dying to find out what’s going on and why this mysterious script has been implemented. It seems to me MySpace is censoring all of us by deciding what we link to on our pages. And I don’t take kindly to being censored.
I have the feeling it might just be porn MySpace pages and I told Eli that it’s just a matter of time before they boot all the porn people off MySpace altogether. I’ve been wondering how long it would take for Rupert Murdoch to make those changes.
I have heard buzz about a lot of people switching to other similar sites like Facebook and CherryTap…is this why?
I have been on MySpace for about a year, have abided by all their rules and have been extremely well behaved about my content and my pictures. I like MySpace and have never abused my privileges and have enjoyed being able to reach out to friends and fans. I promote their website since I am on it via all forms of media that I touch, including my radio show on Sirius Satellite.

The link to Kylie Ireland’s eBay auctions works for me, but the one for Nightmoves goes back to myspace.
Myspace turned all of our links into msplinks to catch spammers. Don’t worry, even though all of the links are turned into msplinks, it still will link to your original URL’s, or at least it should.
Myspace put a notice out that they did this in order to catch spammers so even though your code looks different, it should still be linking to your same URLs. If not, contact myspace tech help. They’ve always answered me pretty quickly.
