Katy Zvolerin: 'Shame on Primetime'

I emailed all the industry publicists I knew for their reaction to the show and whether they would recommend to their clients to cooperate with a similar show in the future.

At least half of the publicists had not seen the show.

Adella from Digital Playground replies: "I don't like not having any control over the project and edits. We have never participated in any of these shows."

Katy, the publicist at Adam & Eve, replies:

Shame on Primetime for its tabloid-esque attack on the adult industry. It’s unfortunate that we optimistically keep giving these “news” outlets access to our business, our contract stars and our sets, only to have our stories twisted and edited beyond recognition. I believe this episode of Primetime simply reinforces the viewers’ beliefs on the adult industry. Those who were morally opposed still are. Those inside the industry and willing to see beyond the smoke and mirrors of network “sweeps” recognize how responsible this industry, as a whole, truly is. Would Adam & Eve do anything differently now that we’ve seen the final edit? Definitely. But I believe it’s important to remember that we are in the entertainment (albeit adult entertainment) business, and we have to keep trying to get our message across. Even when we know the message that will be presented is not the one we intended to give.

A journalist emails:

I like Katy at Adam & Eve a lot, but come on, should she really be so shocked about the Primetime piece? These TV producers are not our friends. They have a story arc in their head before they ever shoot a minute of video, and I can promise it is not positive. Being naive and thinking they may actually have the good of the adult industry in mind rings of the typical, "Oh, she's not your typical porno girl" nonsense.

Conclusion: People are dumb.

Tricia Devereaux writes on ADT about Sophia Lynn: "I was in Tampa with the girl for a week, and she had major issues that NOTHING to do with porn."

Conky posts on XPT: "I have been on-set on two separate occasions when a mom and then a dad (different chicks) both stayed to watch."

Wayne Hentai replies:

The first question I'd ask a client with regards to dealing with the mainstream press is to weigh the benefit of being exposed nationally against the possibility of being used as a tool to boost the show's ratings.

There's always the possibility, particularly during sweeps, that the only thing that will be featured are the more salacious and titillating aspects of the business. There’s also the possibility that the piece will be nothing but glowing about you and the industry. More of then than not, it’s something in between -- believe it or not, some reporters are interested in giving this business a fair shake.

However, the most important thing to remember at the end of the day, even if the interview and the final, edited news package goes your way, is that the people who like porn will see things your way. The people who don't like porn will condemn you, no matter how eloquent and reasoned you come across. The best you can hope for is that the people who have no opinion when it comes to adult entertainment understand that this is a legitimate, legal industry that contributes to the economy and that people come into this industry on their own free will.

One good story won't make the anti-porn whack-jobs embrace the industry — but one bad story’s not going to stop anyone from buying adult product if they were a fan. If there is to be an acceptance of the industry by the society at large, it's something that will take time and require a consensus by the industry as a whole to turn the tide of public opinion our way. Hunkering down and cultivating a bunker mentality of not talking to the media isn't a solution either, because then it gives all of the attention to the organizations who are firmly against our business.

Bloggers Horrified By Sunny Lane

I put "Sunny Lane" into technorati and found bloggers were appalled that Sunny's parents managed her career in sex work.

I've noticed that everybody identifiable in and around the video industry (such as Tara from Freepornstarpix.com and Mike South) say that Sunny was fabulous on Primetime. The GFY webmasters as well as the general public (who've made a public comment) were disgusted by Sunny.

John Turner blogs: "I am all for parental involvement in their child's career but this just feels...creepy. It may, however, explain why ABC News is garnering top ratings for its evening newscast."

Elusive Butterfly writes:

I am an open-minded person. I have seen my share of adult movies. But there is just something creepy about the idea of Mom and Dad playing such a big role in a daughter's pornography career. What are they getting out of this? They admitted on camera that porn has been their "marriage counselor" all the years (30) they have been married . How much are they being paid to approve of it? Would they approve of it if they didn't make money?

At one point, the reporter had questioned about the parents making money off of Lane. Lane seemed offended and said her parents do not make money off of her...within about 15 seconds, she stated she paid her parents for their work as her manager. They don't make money off of me...I pay my parents. So, which is it?

Lacy writes on MySpace:

Jonas and I were a little horrified, especially looking at our beautiful baby girl knowing she wouldn't live that life or anything remotely similar. I watched as this proud father helped pick out outfits and say he's happy that his daughter is having sex with these other actors and not a man that would break her heart. OMG!!! Oh and tons of pictures covered the walls of their home featured and scantily clad, sometime nude daughter. And at this huge Vegas convention her father was talking about how hot his daughter looked. The mom wasn't any better either, she packs her daughter's bag full of her "clothes" for her next movie shot or promotion. Sunny's parents were even looking into getting an anotomically correct doll of their daughter manufactured to market. Ewwww.... These proud beaming parents reminded me of a child's parents after they win a spelling bee. They were quoted as telling their daughter, "if you got it, flaunt it!" Oh and Sunny Lane is fine with it and doesn't see a thing wrong with it. She wouldn't have it any other way and enjoys what she does. I just don't know, I was appalled, grossed out and just shocked. I knew there were some way-off parents out there, but I would have never imagined that. It's just wrong. It made me feel icky.

So, was the line crossed? Yes. It was trampled. There are bad parents out there and sick ones too. I've now come into a whole new definition of a bad parent and one that gives me the creeps. It's beyond bad to bring your child with you to commit a sex crime. Plain and simple. And it's sick to be a parent that endorses and seems to enjoy their's daughter's life as a porn star. I just am not sure what to expect any more these days. All I have to do is turn on the television and there's a whole new extreme.

Mike Lee posts:

Good job Heather and Sophia's family, who continued to reach out to her and pray for her in the midst of her wandering. Good job! I can't help but wonder if God hadn't used "Heather" in the capacity He did. What if she, after being saved and reformed, listened to the "pharisees" and only spoke in churches about the dangers of porn? Sophia, and other girls like her, might otherwise never hear God's story.

Miss Kristen blogs:

Sunny Lane is such a cute girl...her family is creepy though, very very creepy. The first time I saw her was in this cute lil ballerina outfit...which now gives me the heebie jeebies cause her mom prolly made it for her to wear that day, while her pa stood on the sidelines watching. I have nothing bad to say about pornography, and I think parents should support their children in all their choices...unless they're a massive druggie or hooking on the streets...but there is a such thing as going too far.

DJVelvetPants blogs:

Sunny Lane is apparently, a very big commodity in the Industry. She has "image consultants, pubic relations experts, security, lawyers, and managers"- HER PARENTS. Her parents manage every corner of her career (they moved into her apartment in LA-amid thousands of naked pictures of her everywhere). HER PARENTS. I continued to keep an open mind and give them the benefit of the doubt, trying desperately to see through the thick shroud of "normalcy" they tried to portray for the camera. I'm sorry, but no parent in their right mind would allow their daughter to objectify herself like that. They are her pimps no matter what way they want to rationalize it.

During an interview with Primetime producers, Sunny's father admitted he would rather see her have random sex with complete strangers [in all the movies she stars in- (she comes home from what they like to call "dates")] then to have a REAL boyfriend who is just "going to end up hurting her in the end." (which end? Just kidding.) What?! Are you serious? Honestly? You really believe that? God lord. Then. Then! He looks at the camera and with the strongest conviction says, "At least she didn't turn gay." What?! You'd prefer to raise your daughter with no shred of morality whatsoever then to love her if she were gay. You sick bastard. I couldn't go on watching after that. (Another thing he exposed to the camera was his looking at his daughter in a really (really) short skirt commenting on her nice legs.)

This is sicker than anything I have seen in on TV in a long time. The brother and sister couple I mentioned before I did not think were as appalling as this family.

I feel very sorry for Sunny. She doesn't deserve to have to live like this. I think she has it harder than most in this Industry (I'm guessing) because her parents are so deeply involved, she has no one to give her guidance and advice. She has not place to go that's "safe." No place to really call "Home." She says over and over in the interview that she is the one in charge, but is she really?

Sunny Lane Smashes Porn Stereotypes

Tara writes on FreePornStarPix.com:

The interview revealed that Sunny comes from a very stable home, and when her ice skating career was curtailed by injury, she looked for another place where she could be it in the spotlight and found in the adult industry, with the proud support of her parents! Take that one, conservative America!

After winning all of the adult dancer awards possible, Sunny spent some time at the Bunny Ranch where she learned a great deal about how to make a man feel good. The ranch acted as a sort of X-rated finishing school, and after a very successful time there, the next step for Sunny was of course videos.

As usual, the tv crew tried to twist things, but Sunny and her family handled them easily.

Heather Veitch Was The Star Of Primetime's Porn Show

I call her at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Heather: "I've met Sunny Lane and spent time with her in the bathroom. She really is the sweetest girl. People are starting to email me, 'That girl Sunny Lane...' I don't know why they think we're called to judge her."

John writes to Heather Veitch's MySpace page: "Sunny is probably the best actress I have ever seen. She has been acting so long she actually believes she is happy. The poor girl has parents who are more interested in fame and money at any cost. Sunny needs some DEEP prayer. However, we still have a God that Loves her and wants her to come to Him as she is. I pray for her soul."

Primetime

Mike South writes:

When will porners learn that there is no way a primetime television show is going to paint this business in a fair light. Primetime's Outsiders wasn't ten minutes into the show before they made the child pornography link, the lost soul link and the which one "escaped" link.

Sunny presentted herself and the business extraordinarily well, with her youthful exuberance and her enthusiasm and positive outlook it's hard to see her as any sort of prisoner who needs to "escape" no matter how ABC tries to paint the picture. But that isn't why "Outsiders" wanted Sunny, they wanted her because her parent's help manage her career. That's the hook for the audience, painting them as bad parents. I like Sunnys parents and I commend them for supporting their daughter, if it works for them who am I to judge?

The other girl they found was the perfect story for them, a sunday school teacher who reluctantly goes into porn and loses her "soul" but can't get out because the money is so good blah blah. They did hit on the fact that she did drugs but they down played the amount and essentially blamed the industry for her "imprisonment". Because she blew off her obligations to her Company that contracted her, Adam and Eve, they considered this "escaping".

When Adam and Eve signed Sophia Lynn I actually questioned it. Sophia's rep wasn't verry good, but she was a really pretty girl. I know Adam and Eve's interview process for a contract girl and they are very professional and thorough. In the end Adam and Eve handled the whole thing professionally and probably learned a little something in the process, no doubt signing her cost them a lot of money.

But lets get back to the show....around the middle they had footage being shot and some really stupid mother fucker injures the female talent in a "rough sex" scene, genius....whoever did that shit (director and male talent) should be booted from this biz FOREVER. Of course they won't be. The rough sex and "extreme" sex was a recurring theme in the show as well...sadly on this one, we are guilty as charged.

Has it occurred to anyone in this biz that the reason we are losing market share and companys like Adam and Eve and Digital Playground are doing better and better is because people are tired of the train wrecks? Has it dawned on any of these idiots maybe well shot, fun and sexy scenes are more erotic than trying to come up with new ways to degrade, injure or try to kill the girl?

In the end Sunny represented this biz better than anyone ever has on primetime television, kudos to her for that!

Taryn Thomas Update

She replies to me:

Ive been living in Arizona since March of last year for one, common sense would have told anyone that follows my career or me that. I only shot about 20-30 movies last year. And my case was reported. An honestly my medical health is no ones bussiness and if people want to go around and continue publish untrue facts about me and my health. I will sue them for lible or slander.... But yes I did have ecoli.

If you would like to come over to my house in Arizona and inspect the way my bowels are since then you are more than welcome to. I am sure it is nothing you really want to see or smell. This is something that is going to affect me for the rest of my life and i would appreciate it if I am left only regaurding this once and for all.

Also I am asking you now not to post anything about me any further. Unless it is something good and you have actual facts about it, from myself, my agent, or pr.

Hank Rose emails:

How time flies when old friends fall to ruin. EVN was the debut company I worked for when I first wet my wick in this biz in 1988 almost 20 years ago. Margold used to direct for them. And later on I did a lot of loops for them with Jesse Eastern.

Unfortunately, by the time the quickie turnover gonzo era came about, they went the cheap route and didn't upgrade their editing and duplication from 3/4 analog to HD digital. The long term result was that they relied more on comps and resale content from other distributors. So I'm not surpised that they are insolvent in the cyber age.

My last contact with them was trying to order one of my old movies --Breastman's Triple Xcellent Adventure. Instead, they sent me the wrong title. Now it all figures.

Sunny's dad says she could've turned out worse. "She could've gone gay on us."

Here's the audio of the first seven-minute segment on Sophia Lynn. Part two.

Sunny Lane. Conclusion.

Some choice quotes from the show:

"The fantasy that Sunny is selling is that she's underage."

"I have an empire. I have a massive team backing me," says Sunny.

"When she comes back home [from a porn set], I just ask her how her date was," says Sunny's dad Mike.

"Her parents made a cameo appearance in one of her films [Dark Angels 2]."

"Most parents would be horrified," says therapist Fred Kahane. "It doesn't sound like mom has a lot of protective genes."

Sophia Lynn says her Christian family found out within a week that she was doing porn.

"I have very low self-esteem," Sophia says.

ABC: "She lives on energy drinks, stomach medicine and sugar food. And she's always rushing from one appearance to the next."

Sophia keeps saying how tired she is.

ABC: "Sophia often doesn't know where she's going and what she has to do."

"At the club, I'm getting paid to go," says Sophia. "They want me to drink and talk to people, whatever."

ABC: "It's like she's just going through the motions."

Heather Veitch shines. "You can't have the life of a porn star without getting wounded."

Sophia Lynn: "Either they want to get under you, on top of you or run you over."

"Do you understand how lonely it gets?"

ABC: "She's now suspicious of every man she meets."

ABC: "Sunny makes her stay at the [Bunny] Ranch sound like a teaching gig."

Sunny: "I taught them confidence. I taught them how to love themselves."

On the HBO show Cathouse, Sunny says: "Yes, I sell my body. Why not enjoy it?"

ABC: "Sunny says she did it just to help the ranch get publicity."

Sunny: "I gave it a try to see what it was like and I realized it was not for me."

ABC: "Not for her? According to Dennis Hof, Sunny turned tricks for almost a year and gave him half of her earnings."

ABC: "You were a prostitute at the Bunny Ranch?"

Sunny nods. "For a moment."

ABC: "Mom and dad say that the Bunny Ranch experience was a positive one."

Mike: "She was able to see how safe the environment was. They were fed regularly."

Shelby: "They had a chef, maid."

Mike: "They were tested. I know exactly where she's at."

Sunny about the porn industry: "They're always pushing it to the envelope and beyond."

ABC on Sophia Lynn: "She's been told she's not performing well in her scenes."

ABC: "One day on Sophia's set, another girl is injured when her partner is too rough."

Injured Girl: "I think he saw an opportunity to take advantage of that I wasn't going to say much. I wasn't going to stop the scene altogether. I don't want to be blacklisted."

Who is this girl? Who was the guy who injured her?

Fred Kahane: "Most of them do compartmentalization. They don't feel much. But you can't just turn the heart on and off."

ABC: "Fred Kahane says many performance split off or numb themselves with drugs."

ABC about Sophia: "She calls home, struggling to hold on to the person she used to be."

Sophia: "Hey mom, it's your baby girl. I love you. I'm still your baby girl, k? You've got to say a prayer for me."

Sophia's sister in Tampa: "I felt like she wasn't my sister. Somebody else was taking over."

ABC: "Sophia turns back to her Christian roots."

Sophia is shown walking happily with Heather Veitch.

But Sophia keeps making porn.

Heather: "She has to be tough right now to continue doing it."

Heather: "At 14, I was raped. It just changed me. I became promiscuous. I thought sex is what makes me good."

Mike, looking at his daughter Sunny: "She looks great. I picked that outfit out. Those legs. Those are skater legs."

ABC: "While at the conference, [Sunny's parents] looked at getting anatomically correct sex dolls molded of their daughter."

Lukeisback.com and XPT are shown speculating about Sophia's disappearance from porn.

Sophia talks about her drug abuse and spiral downward: "When you surround yourself with the wrong people because they are the only people who are really around, you tend to just go with whatever."

ABC: Sophia was arrested a few years ago on drug charges and just after she started making adult movies, Sophia lost custody of her daughter.

"It takes your meaning away," says Sophia. "When you lose everything, what do you do? You do other things to make you forget."

Sophia moved back to Florida with her sister and claims to be done with porn. She wants to become a speaker at churches.

Sophia's main goal is to regain custody of her daughter.

She's trying to make it in the spa business.

ABC blanks out a lot of faces in the show. Is this because they have to or are they just being nice?

Tod Hunter, Mark Kernes and many pornographers say a porner should never talk to the mainstream media because whenever it profiles porn, the odds are high that porn will be make to look bad.

Porn looks horrible in this Primetime piece. So was Primetime distorted or is porn that bad?

In most in-depth reports, porn looks bad.

Roger Pipe emails: "Great shot eh? I'm inches from Sunny's ass and I'm photographing the trophy. I can hear the chants of "loser" from ADT and XPT now."

A1R3K writes on GFY: "WOW! This Primetime show is really trying hard to make adult look bad. Sunny Lane is rocking it though. Glad to see that there are girls that can take the heat from the slanted journalists with ulterior motives and turn it around on them."

StickyGreen posts: "They're basically playing the "poor girls are abused and on drugs" card. Most sluts these days are on drugs regardless of being involved with porn."

A1R3K writes:

sophia lynn sold us all under the bus as the "wrong people" to hang out with. i want to meet the person that went to her house with a gun and made her go into the adult business. that sucks that she was hunted and dragged from her cozy little bed into the business. i bet she didn't do anything voluntarily. go figure we kidnap people from their homes. cry me a river. this is a business, the few models that have treated it as such are millionaires. the ones that drug out and stay fucked up end up a trainwreck. go figure, she ended up a trainwreck.

RawAlex writes: "This only goes to support my point of view when it comes to the media and porn: they will only pick up the weirdest and nuttiest things and run with them. Which means any time anyone in the industry does something stupid, that is what the media is likely to use to broad brush us."

Anthropophobiac writes on XPT: "Parents are not supposed to support their daughter's porn "career". It's wrong! In every possible way. Period. I don't care if they are trying to "protect" her or whatever, Sunny Lane's parents are her pimps. They are pandering her. They are making a living off of her daughter's orifices. Now, that is something to be proud of, isn't it?"

I Feel That We Failed Sophia Lynn

She was unhappy in porn. And where were we? Too busy jerking off to notice her pain?

All those times I was taking her picture, making her look like the happiest, most glamorous woman in the world, I thought I was helping. Yet I was practicing the most cruel deceit.

Why did I never take the time to ask, "Sophia, how is your soul? Are you dying inside with every money shot you absorb?"

This Primetime show has convinced me to turn my back on glamor photography. Instead, I'm going to try to photograph souls.

Open your heart to me. One is such a lonely number.

An Open Letter to Egoist Entertainment

Raoul Duke emails:

Dear Brian and Jennifer,

Words cannot express the outrage I feel at the latest incident involving your "star", Kurt Lockwood.

Hitherto, I had been content to engage in my own private boycott of Egoist, watching in amused schadenfreude as other porn fans did the same, over Mr. Lockwood's unprovoked assault on journalist Gram Ponante. More amusing still was your company's inexplicable defense of Mr. Lockwood's thuggish behaviour, your improbable decision to retain Mr. Lockwood on your company's payroll, and your incomprehensible insistence that Mr. Ponante referred to Mr. Lockwood as a "fag," despite the fact that repeated searches of Mr. Ponante's writings failed to turn up the offending adjective. Given Mr. Lockwood's well-known and oft-documented "backdoor proclivities," it is not surprising that someone called your "star" a fag. But it wasn't Gram Ponante. All in all, it has been an amusing couple of weeks.

Until now.

On March 11, 2007, your "star" was interviewed by Steve Javors of XBiz, during the course of which, Mr. Lockwood was quoted as saying:

"There are guys dying in Iraq and some people are worried if I pushed Gram or not. It’s ridiculous." Excuse me?

I've heard some egregious statements in my time, many from your "star," but tell me what right does a violent, dildo-taking Bi-polar narcissist have to compare himself in any way to the dead in Iraq? The "nearly over eleven hundred women" (sic) who were paid to have sex with him that he brags about so often? Being given an Honorable Mention for "Orgasmic Analist," an award normally reserved for women? His legendary combat skills, as demonstrated during his recent assault on a free press? His demonstrated negligence as a Dog owner? His refusal to wear a shirt? His "choo-choo tattoo?" Brian, Jen, please tell me, what right does this steroid-pumping twink have to compare himself to these Honored Dead?

I lost a family member in Iraq last month. He was killed when his helicopter was shot down over Anbar. He was a great guy, and a terrific uncle. He joined the Marines right after 9/11, like so many other New Yorkers. Never shirked his duty. Even extended his tour by six months so he could go to Iraq with his unit. He could have stayed in Okinawa and come home in April. But he refused to abandon his Brothers, and chose to face the same danger they did. He was killed less than two weeks after his arrival in Iraq, while on a rescue mission to pick up wounded Marines. Mr. Lockwood's comments are a despicable insult to his memory and the memory of the 3,195 other brave man and women who gave their last full measure of devotion defending their country. It's reprehensible. It's intolerable.

And it won't be taken lying down.

Since you've repeatedly defended Mr. Lockwood's indefensible behaviour, I'm going to go out on a limb and presume you'll continue to do so. Such bunker mentality has not been seen since the latter days of the Nixon Administration, but no matter. The walls came crumbling down for Tricky Dick, and they'll come crumbling down for you. I am going to wage all-out war on Lockwood, Egoist and yourselves personally. It will not stop with the millions of Porn fans you've alienated, who are already inclined to boycott your company over Lockwood and your inexplicable defense of his behaviour. It won't stop with distributors, or on-line and brick-and-mortar stores. It will not stop within the industry at all. I will bring in Veterans Groups. I will bring in Gold Star Mothers. I will bring in Politicians. Yes, I will bring them in. What do you think their reaction will be when they find out a violent, 'roid-popping, Meth-Abusing, Back-Door taking Twink has publicly mocked American War Dead? What will you do when investigators from ten Congressional Committees start swarming all over your studios and offices? What will you say when the rest of the industry blames you for the heat coming down? If you haven't already made yourselves pariahs, just you wait. I may even lobby the Mental Health community for Mr. Lockwood's commitment and forced medication, which seems to be the only way to protect society from his deprivations, and Mr. Lockwood from himself. In short, I am going to open the proverbial can of Whoop-Ass on you, unless the following conditions are met:

1) The immediate termination of Mr. Lockwood's employment;

2) Your immediate repudiation of Mr. Lockwood's behaviour and statements, including the incident with the building manager, the incident with Mr. Ponante and the disparagement of the Troops;

3) Your immediate, public and sincere apology to the building manager, to Mr. Ponante, and to the Families of the Fallen Troops;

4) Your immediate, public and sincere apology to the Industry as a whole, for your role in dragging the industry through the mud, your unprofessional and inexplicable behaviour, and your continued enabling of Mr. Lockwood's Thuggish conduct; and

5) Your pledge to join with the numerous other directors and producers who refuse to work with Mr. Lockwood in an effort to Blackball him from the industry permanently.

It's a shame that you've let things come to this pass. I was perfectly content to simply watch the train wreck as it unfolded, laughing to myself as the excuses for Mr. Lockwood's behaviour grew more and more surreal. But then he had to open his mouth, insult those who, in life, were better men than he will ever be, and bring your company to the edge of an abyss. In only a couple of weeks, you've managed to alienate millions of fans, make an enemy out of a prominent journalist, become the laughingstock of the industry before you've even released a title, and, now, brought yourselves to the brink of all-out war with a sick Irishman who knows more about motivating interest groups, public relations and rousing rabble than you will ever know about pornography in your combined lifetimes. This is the price you pay for your denial. The problems continue to haunt you until you either address them or they destroy you. Make the right choice: Axe the Twink; repudiate; apologize; join with the others. Before your "star" becomes your undoing.

XPT ADT

Brian Scott, owner of Egoist Entertainment, emails:

Luke,

I thought that Sunny Lane did a fantastic job. As well as she could have given ABC's desire to make her look like a victim.

Also, had to response to the Raoul Duke post;

1. You are a sick Irishman, but I am still very truly sorry for your loss.

2. Mr. Lockwood is not an employee of Egoist Entertainment.

3. Mr. Lockwood did not compare himself to the troops in Iraq.

4. In fact he made it clear that the troops dying in Iraq are more important than he is.

5. I never defended Mr. Lockwood's behavior outside the set of "eXXXtra eXXXtra".

6. I never said that Mr. Ponante referred to Mr. Lockwood as a "f-g". 7. If you want to try and harm Egoist Entertainment, then stop writing about us as you are the one keeping this in the press.

8. My brother heads to Baghdad in two months leaving behind my sister-in-law, nephew and niece, so I would never associate with anyone who insults the memory of any of our brave men and women.

Underaged Performers In Tranny Videos?

Vladtepes emails:

As I fished for crappie, thinking to myself that maybe my minnows were too small, I had an epiphany but then maybe the fish just aren't biting....

While thinking some more as I am wont to do...... I wondered if there were underaged performers in tranny videos.... I began to question my root values... "At which point does that become important.

I consulted my half vast library. According to Mark Twain, Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society. (Has Larry Flynt considered this?)

Another Twain quote I find fitting is.. Don't tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.

Vladdy leans back into the Lazy-Boy and ponders some more. Vladdy loves Mark Twain.... All things being said... all this street fight crap and tempest in a teapot stuff... Mark Twain said it best.... Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.

Bear well with us Luke and Mike... and carry a Glock.

What Happened To Director Mike Metropolis?

Metropolis directs for Devils Films, Combat Zone, Smash Pictures, and internet porn sites. His voice mail is full and he wont return anybody's phone calls. Talent ranging from Nina Hartley, Kylie Ireland to Lola have been waiting over 3 weeks to get paid and his excuse is that he's waiting for a check from Devils Films.

I rang Stuart Wall head of production at Smash Pictures to get his side of the story and Stuart explained that when he hires a director he has them sign a contract and cuts them a check for the full budget. "I'm not pleased with Mike Metropolis's actions and the only communication I can get from this guy at this stage are text messages. Mike is responsible for these debts. My owner is on vacation yet once I inform him of this I know he will make good on these girls checks which Mike has been paid in full for in advance. All our other directors have great reputations and I've never been dragged into a situation like this due to an unprofessional director. I sure hope Mike gets this cleaned up sometime this week."

Metropolis' problem are compounded by the fact that he has some weird phobia with banks. He refuses to leave money in bank accounts, and usually deposits cash just in time to make sure checks clear. Obviously he didn't make it this time.

Why Are There So Many Jews In Porn?

Joe: First, the Jewish religion is relativist: in other words, as long as it doesn't hurt anybody, anything goes.
Joe: (reform, ok, not orthodox)
Joe: Second, until fifty years ago, Jews were excluded from most professions and businesses. This is why a disproportionate number are in entertainment and are entrepreneurs.
Joe: Third, the Talmud teaches us to question authority, to question everything, and not to accept assumptions about morality or anything else.
Joe: Finally, many Jews, particularly those with artistic bent (ok, I flatter myself, but someone has to do it) love to challenge authority. In part, this is because we were the object of state hatred for so many hundreds of years.
Joe: what do you think?
Luke: I agree. Also, Jews are more secular than any other ethnic group.
Joe: true. and no concept of hell.
Joe: no omnipotent god watching us when we do the nasty.
Joe: altho pretty specific about adultery
Joe: since it is one of the sins that can't be undone.
Luke: The more Jewishly active the Jew, the less likely they are to be in porn.
Joe: true. you don't find too many conservative jews in porn.
Joe: except for you, of course but i don't really count you as being "in" porn. Joe: but everyone is the straight world would, as i have discovered.
Joe: even though we've never hired a performer, or put an X rated picture on any of our sites.
Joe: people, sadly, still consider us to be pornographers. the truth is, they are not interested in explanations, distinctions, or subtleties. That is not salacious or interesting.
Joe: i don't need to tell you straight people get pretty geeked out.
Joe: fortunately, when you tell people you're in "internet marketing" in these parts, they never ask what we market. instead their eyes glaze over.
Joe: in la, you're screwed. people are too saavy out there, they make you lie.

Kimberly Kane Interview Part Two

Joe writes: "Those bitches at Ronnie's party look diseased, not merely morally, as well as spiritually and intellectually bankrupt. Looking at the photos, I thought I was going to get eyeball herpes."

I arrive at the club Element at 9:15 p.m. and there's already a long line of press waiting to get in.

We finally get in just before 10 p.m. We're jammed together. I'm in the second row. Behind me, some paparazzi use stands to get above the crowd.

Ron Jeremy, the honored guest, arrives at 11:15 p.m. with Dennis Hof and Stormy Daniels.

Feeling suffocated, I fought my way out at 11:30 p.m. I was having no success until a bouncer, with persistent effort, created a path for me. As he did so, someone who sounded like an owner told him, "You've got to be nice to these people. They're my heavy hitters."

Rachel Worth blogs:

Ron Jeremy's birthday party took place on Saturday, March 10, 2007, at a club in Hollywood called Element. Not one person coming out of there had a good word to say about the place. One person was heard to say, "I will NEVER go to another event at that place!" More than one made the same comment.

Sorry, Ron, everyone wanted to help you celebrate your birthday, but, unfortunately, this was not a good place for it. A small meeting even took place outside where a group of Ron's friends were talking about taking him elsewhere, but he said he was committed to stay there until 2 a.m.

It began with the usual waiting in line that occurs outside any of the clubs. The club hadn't gotten everything set up on time, which one person waiting near the front of the line said always is the case at Element.

The Press area there is entirely too small. It was difficult for the Photographers and Video Press to do their jobs and frustrating for the celebs. Some people had to rush along the red carpet and not even take the time to pose to make way for the next group of people.

Once inside, the problems increased. As the night rolled on, it kept getting more and more crowded inside, and the noise was deafening. One attendee said, "I was trying to hide way back in the corner, because the music was WAY too loud. I finally couldn't take it any more." And, he left early. Another party-goer left early complaining of the elbow-to-elbow crowd and the intense heat. "Look at me. I'm drenched in sweat."

It was so crowded that a friend of Ron's left, saying, "I guess Ron never showed up," not realizing he was, in fact, there. Others (many, many people) complained of being treated very rudely by security guards and even by James, the owner of the club. By all acounts, James and many of the security guards were nothing more than loudmouthed bullies, yelling at everyone and throwing around their authority in a deplorable manner.

Another comment overheard: "This was the most disorganized event I've ever been to." One example: People were told a few different times that the event was closed and they weren't letting any more people in, but other security staff was telling them to get in line. When asked about the mixed messages, a guard commented, "There is a lack of communication between management, staff and promoters."

The club allowed people to get way too drunk and when some of them staggered out, they couldn't even walk without being held up by friends. A few fist fights began between drunk couples; others between groups of men. Many fights were close to breaking out as more than a few loud verbal assaults were made, along with the threatening posturing. Friends had to drag the opposing parties away to separate them.

People did not feel safe, inside or out. Upon exiting the club early, one person who is an ex-cop said, "I'm leaving because I can just smell a fight brewing." Security guards from a neighboring club remarked that Element lets in a lot of gang members and there are always problems there. One spoke of a recent shooting and another of a recent stabbing in the parking lot next to the club. They did not approach the crowd leaving Element who were about to have a brawl because, as one stated, "This job isn't worth losing my life." Instead, he said, he called for police backup. Luckily, the unruly crowd soon broke up.

Happy Birthday, Ron, and if you have another celebration in a better location, let us know.

Luke, your rolling with 2 US passports, 2 SS#’s, two complete sets of quasi legal ID’s yet you play like I don’t know what time it is and you expect me to do the same. Pull the file, pull Jerry Garfinkle’s first fed parole file, he cops to dropping ketamine on underage girls going back to the 70’s. his wife and the OBGYN offices that she worked at, as with the shit that he had ‘sealed’ in the early 70’s, it is all still accessible if your ask the right people. Pull his queen for a day sheet and stop playing, just because you don’t know where I fit in doesn’t mean that everyone else doesn’t know exactly who and what you are, a connected pornographer.

Gram Ponante Files Assault Charge After On Set Altercation

“The police have decided not to pursue this and I’m content with leaving it at that,” Lockwood told XBIZ. “It’s really hard to believe everything you read and anyone who has been so overly concerned needs to get a life. There are guys dying in Iraq and some people are worried if I pushed Gram or not. It’s ridiculous.”

LAPD Wants To Talk To Kurt

Gene Ross writes on Adultfyi:

"This has gotten a little crazy," says James who was directing a fight in downtown LA when a movie broke out. Basically there was a shoving match involving Lockwood and journalist Ponante. And we're saying shoving match because Ponante's, now, evidently, showing bruises as evidence from the altercation.

"It's escalated to the point where the law has been brought in," James continues. "I thought this whole thing was silly and no big deal but I got a call from the LAPD- she was a detective and very nice," continues James. "She wanted details of the episode and said assault and battery charges were going to be filed. She said Gram had gone in and had spoken to the police dept. He had shown them pictures of bruises and bruises on his chest which I find hard to believe considering I was standing right there. It seems hard to believe that the little shoving match could have caused anything that would have been noticeable."

In the shoving match, James said Lockwood pushed Ponante and Ponante in turn threw coffee on Lockwood. "Things started coming off of Gram, like his glasses- it was stupid," continues James. "Kurt's point was that this guy had said bad things about him and he should have at least said them to his face. This was one of those situations where both people were at fault. You can't go around shoving people who say bad things about you. In this business we all have targets on our backs. On the other hand, to be able to say anything you want against anybody, to insinuate and hide it in cute words and clever analogies- that's really not fair, either. One should be responsible for what one says."

Conky writes on XPT:

At least this goes to show that if you want to be part of a civilized society, you have to follow society's rules. The insistence of so many people on this production that it was all just nothing still amazes me. Jennifer James has done herself absolutely no good whatsoever in PR terms with her little speech to Gene. Claiming that Ponante wants to write "whatever he wants with impunity" is just a load of horse puckey. Gram simply doesn't feature gossip on his site. He's one of the straightest, funniest writers in the industry. If James had a clue about this business, she'd be aware of that. She would also know that he's far more popular with most companies because of that; he doesn't just print rumors or gossip. It's not his market. And with Fleshbot, that's a far larger market than she perhaps realizes.

Regardless of the legal outcome, it's high time someone took a stand and just said, "No! That is not acceptable behavior."

Full marks to Gram for not being cowed by a porn director and her crew into silence. Jennifer, please remember your main professional aim in life is male ejaculation. It's your buyers who are important, and you court them through people like Gram, Luke, Gene and the wider adult press like the web, skin mags etc.. Alienating them is just a bad, bad idea.

In a perfect world, I'd like to see Fishbein's take on this (yes, I know he's not universally popular, but...). If this industry is ever to achieve public acceptability or shield itself from the government, the perceived 'leaders' need to address this sort of behavior, drug abuse and the crooks and hang them out to dry.

Calvin writes on XPT:

This may work at recess for a 2nd grader, but in the adult world it does not excuse assault if your victim allegedly wrote bad things about you. It just makes it premeditated assault.

What a radical political agenda. If the founding fathers had wanted us to be able to write whatever we want with impunity, they surely would have said something about it in the Bill or Rights or somewhere.

I don't know if it has ever been established that Gram actually used the "F" word with reference to Kurt. But even if he did, Kurt is, in this context, what he has always wanted to be: a public figure. This means that it is only libel if it is known to be a falsehood. One does not even need to prove that the printed claim is true, only that it is consistent with their public persona.

Dragging everyone into court in order to prove whether one person called the other a fag, and whether the other person was then justified in assaulting them, complete with showings of "Put Your Finger in my Ass #4" as evidence is just what porn needs to prove that it really is the "adult" industry.

Asia Carrera's Rich

She blogs March 9:

The life insurance policy went through. I came home to find a FedEx envelope informing me of the new account that has been set up in my name. I won't ever have to go back to porn or work at WalMart or do anything but be the best mommy I can be to my two little babies. I am just bawling like a bitch all over my keyboard. Thank you everyone who kept us in their thoughts and supported me in so many different ways during this unimaginably difficult year. Finally I can look to a future with hope for me and my little ones!

Scorpion emails: "E! Well they finally showed it. Pretty much a puff piece with Asia living happily ever after thanks to her fans."

Bianca Dagger (22yo) interview.

"I didn't hang out with the kids in high school," she says. "I hung out with the older kids. I hung out in bars. I lost my virginity at 15 and I probably had sex with 25 people that year."

In high school (Bianca grew up in San Francisco), "I had a meeting with the principal and my parents. 'Young lady, if you don't go to college, what are you going to do with your life?' I said, 'I'm going to be an exotic dancer.' A few years later, I became an exotic dancer."

"My dad wanted me to become a nurse. I went to community college for two years and decided this is boring. The whole cleaning up throw-up thing."

Bianca is surprised by how quickly people in the porn industry connect to one another.

"I was a bad kid," Krystal Jordan says. "I was never in class. I'm rebellious. It's more fun."

From the Bible belt (near Oklahoma), she's lost almost all her friends from back home since getting into porn (and doing about 100 scenes in a year).

Jack tells me that India Summer's nether regions are the most beautiful in the world. "It doesn't even look real," he says.

Luckey Ross has been in porn for a week and has done five scenes.

Luckey says she wants to be the next Jenna Jameson "and as big as Ron Jeremy."

My attorney Justin Levine walks up. "What's going on here?" he asks. "I thought there was an art exhibition."

That's in the next room.

I chat with an embarrassed T.J. Hart.

A couple of weeks ago, she'd called me at 3 a.m. and left a message: "Hey, I really enjoyed seeing you on set. Let's get together and have coffee."

I call her back twice but she does not return my call.

Tonight she's embarrassed. She says she was on Ambien.

JP emails:

asia carrera: now that she got her lifeinsurance money, i wonder if she will return any of the money people/fans sent her when she asked everyone to help her ?

kurt lockwood: since when is it ok to beat somebody just because they have said bad things about them. seems to me kurt has a problem with violence which is apparent in some of his productions where he chokes and gags the female talent to the extent of... physically hurting them.
