Is Porn This Lame?

I know the adult industry is not crowded with the creative luminaries of the world, but can't we at least come up with original titles? In the past two days I saw that Nectar is putting out "7 Deadly Sins" (the title of the award-winning Vivid film starring Janine from a few years ago), and AMA Video just put out the second volume of "Swallow My Pride." For those who didn't know, "Swallow My Pride" is the title of a long-running Red Light District series. Unless AMA paid RLD for the rights, that's pretty fuckin' gay. It's one thing to rip off a title from 1978, but one from 2003? Speaking of AMA, I heard they asked a distributor to sell a bunch of product, only for the distributor to find out that AMA was selling the stuff direct to the same buyers for half the price. Needless to say, the distributor looked pretty ridiculous and had to accept a lot of returns. Great way to do business.

Rob Longshot from AMA writes:

Our title is Swallow Your Pride, not Swallow My Pride. So it is not the same title, secondly that distributor your talking about, if it is who im sure it is.... is full of shit and tried to rip us off.
"Swallow Your Pride," "Swallow My Pride," close enough. Is it OK to launch a new gonzo company and create the lines "Breaking Them In," "Up and Comers" or "Nasty Nymph O's?" In my opinion, no, it's not OK.

As far as the distributor, I'm going to take his side. I have known him for years and while he does dumb stuff once in a while, I don't think he rips people off.

Porn as Post-Modern Art

From Reuters:

Italian vacationers admiring the view from a fairground Ferris wheel at the Munich Oktoberfest got more than they bargained for when a porn shoot suddenly began inside their cabin, authorities said on Friday.

Having settled down to enjoy a leisurely spin on the wheel at the famous beer festival, the group of Italians were quite unprepared for the arrival of two men toting cameras and a woman who started to use a vibrator.

Unable to stop the shoot, the Italians informed local police, who promptly arrested the actress and her crew, a political scientist and a 25-year-old student.

"They said they weren't doing it for commercial reasons but that they wanted to see how visitors would react," police said. The three have been charged with public indecency.

Julie Robbins Dies After Crash

Amy writes:

I hope you will take my email seriously. My husband's cousin is "Julie Robbins" or as we know her Brandy. I have terrible news about Brandy and wanted to somehow be able to let her friends know what has happened. Her family has no way of alerting her friends as Brandy was a very private person and kept this life seperate from ours. Although Brandy and I made different life choices, I am a human being and cared for her no matter what. As a mother like Brandy, it is painful what has happened.

I hate to do this and sound so callous but I'm afraid you may think I'm some crazy person. Brandy was involved in a car accident in her hometown on 9/22 around 2:15p.m ET. Brandy was alone so her daughter, thankfully, was not in her vehicle. I'm sorry to tell you this but Brandy's car burst into flames as her vehicle hit a telephone pole. It is my belief that she may have fallen asleep. Many, many witnesses to the accident tried in vain to get her out of the vehicle but the heat was too intense. Brandy, God bless her, was burned over 95% of her body. She was alive when they were finally able to get her out of the car and airlifted her to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. Brandy passed on 9/22 @ 11p.m. with her family surrounding her. Brandy will be laid to rest on Sunday, September 25th in Lexington, NC.

I hate to do this this way but I thought it only fair to let the people in Brandy's life know what has happened. I don't know if you have a way of contacting agents of some of the other individuals to let them know - but I hope so.

With sad regrets,
Amy

I just spoke with Amy and her husband Kevin (Julie's cousins) in North Carolina and they filled in a few details. Julie had been put on a new medication recently which had been causing drowniness, and they believe it caused her to fall asleep at the wheel.

If anyone would like to make a donation, the family asks it be made to Brenner Children's Hospital in the name of Brandy Koontz. Here's the info:

Big Scoops

Alex writes:

Marc Kramer at LFP has been fired as of yesterday, Friday the 23rd of September. You may hear he quit, but word on the street is he was fired. No one has touched this story yet. Not sure if his buddy Drew (formerly of 5533 Satsuma Studios) will still have a job but as of late Friday night he did.

There is WAY more good juice to this story, so rest assured this is only the tip of the iceberg!

I was told that Gina DePalma was the porn star in question who was arrested in Chicago for hooking. Also, Farley Cahen from AVN says he is not leaving the company anytime soon.

More Departures Coming at AVN?

I'm hearing through the grapevine that Aly Drummond and Farley Cahen are both leaving AVN. Is there any truth to this rumor?

Joanna Angel's Premiere of "The Repenetrator"

Tara writes:

Here are my photos from the BurningAngel.com screening of "The Repenetrator": http://freepornstarpix.com/joanna/

Joanna Angel was there along with her friend Dana De Armand. Eve Mayfair was there serving beer. I got some funny sound bytes from the girls, they are hilarious. The theme for the screening party was 'zombies', so most of the people were dressed like zombies or mad doctors.

FBI Forms Anti-Porn Squad

From The Washington Post:

The FBI is joining the Bush administration's War on Porn. And it's looking for a few good agents.

Early last month, the bureau's Washington Field Office began recruiting for a new anti-obscenity squad. Attached to the job posting was a July 29 Electronic Communication from FBI headquarters to all 56 field offices, describing the initiative as "one of the top priorities" of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales and, by extension, of "the Director." That would be FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III.

Mischievous commentary began propagating around the water coolers at 601 Fourth St. NW and its satellites, where the FBI's second-largest field office concentrates on national security, high-technology crimes and public corruption.

The new squad will divert eight agents, a supervisor and assorted support staff to gather evidence against "manufacturers and purveyors" of pornography -- not the kind exploiting children, but the kind that depicts, and is marketed to, consenting adults.

"I guess this means we've won the war on terror," said one exasperated FBI agent, speaking on the condition of anonymity because poking fun at headquarters is not regarded as career-enhancing. "We must not need any more resources for espionage."

Among friends and trusted colleagues, an experienced national security analyst said, "it's a running joke for us."

A few of the printable samples:

"Things I Don't Want On My Résumé, Volume Four."

"I already gave at home."

"Honestly, most of the guys would have to recuse themselves."

Federal obscenity prosecutions, which have been out of style since Attorney General Edwin Meese III in the Reagan administration made pornography a signature issue in the 1980s, do "encounter many legal issues, including First Amendment claims," the FBI headquarters memo noted.

Applicants for the porn squad should therefore have a stomach for the kind of material that tends to be most offensive to local juries. Community standards -- along with a prurient purpose and absence of artistic merit -- define criminal obscenity under current Supreme Court doctrine.

"Based on a review of past successful cases in a variety of jurisdictions," the memo said, the best odds of conviction come with pornography that "includes bestiality, urination, defecation, as well as sadistic and masochistic behavior." No word on the universe of other kinks that helps make porn a multibillion-dollar industry.

Popular acceptance of hard-core pornography has come a long way, with some of its stars becoming mainstream celebrities and their products -- once confined to seedy shops and theaters -- being "purveyed" by upscale hotels and most home cable and satellite television systems. Explicit sexual entertainment is a profit center for companies including General Motors Corp. and Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. (the two major owners of DirecTV), Time Warner Inc. and the Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt hotel chains.

But Gonzales endorses the rationale of predecessor Meese: that adult pornography is a threat to families and children. Christian conservatives, long skeptical of Gonzales, greeted the pornography initiative with what the Family Research Council called "a growing sense of confidence in our new attorney general."

Congress began funding the obscenity initiative in fiscal 2005 and specified that the FBI must devote 10 agents to adult pornography. The bureau decided to create a dedicated squad only in the Washington Field Office. "All other field offices may investigate obscenity cases pursuant to this initiative if resources are available," the directive from headquarters said. "Field offices should not, however, divert resources from higher priority matters, such as public corruption."

Public corruption, officially, is fourth on the FBI's priority list, after protecting the United States from terrorist attack, foreign espionage and cyber-based attacks. Just below those priorities are civil rights, organized crime, white-collar crime and "significant violent crime." The guidance from headquarters does not mention where pornography fits in.

"The Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's top priority remains fighting the war on terrorism," said Justice Department press secretary Brian Roehrkasse. "However, it is not our sole priority. In fact, Congress has directed the department to focus on other priorities, such as obscenity."

At the FBI's field office, spokeswoman Debra Weierman expressed disappointment that some of her colleagues find grist for humor in the new campaign. "The adult obscenity squad . . . stems from an attorney general mandate, funded by Congress," she said. "The personnel assigned to this initiative take the responsibility of this assignment very seriously and are dedicated to the success of this program."

Adult Industry a Breeding Ground for Disease

From Reuters Health:

Investigators at the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services recently became aware of four cases of HIV infection related to work in the adult film industry. The infections occurred despite a widely adopted voluntary program of HIV and STD testing in the industry.

As reported in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, the first identified case was a 40-year-old man who tested HIV-negative on February 12 and March 17, 2004, but tested positive on April 9. Dr. H. Rotblatt, with the Los Angeles Department of Public Health, and colleagues report that, on April 20, the LA County Department of Health Services started an investigation to identify HIV transmission from this case.

During the time between his two negative tests, the patient had engaged in unprotected sex while producing a film in Brazil. After returning to California he engaged in unprotected sex with 13 female partners, three of whom tested HIV-positive in April and May after negative tests results were obtained one month previously.

HIV strains obtained from the four patients and sequenced by the CDC showed that they were all identical, supporting the conclusion that the male patient was the source of the HIV infection.

In September, the California Department of industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health, cited employers of the workers for failing to comply with the state's bloodborne disease standard, failing to report a serious work-related illness, and failing to prepare and follow a written occupational injury and illness prevention program.

MMWR editors comment that in Los Angeles County there are approximately 200 production companies employing 1200 workers who engage in direct work-related sexual contact, which is often prolonged and performed without condom use.

"In addition to the testing program being inadequate as the sole source of protection from HIV transmission, the costs of testing are typically borne by the workers themselves," the authors note. "The cost burden of health services could cause some workers to reduce the range and frequency of HIV and STD screening or to avoid or delay pursuing vaccination for hepatitis B virus."

They conclude that "workers in this industry need to be made aware of the risks associated with participation in various acts, to be able to participate in decision-making about their health and safety at work, and to benefit from prevention practices."

Porn Star Arrested in Windy City for Prostitution

Anyone know who it is?

From The Chicago Sun-Times:

The Chicago Air and Water Show attracts a lot of business to the city, but this is a new one on police.

A "porn star" who turns 49 next month apparently timed a visit to Chicago to coincide with the show, and was arrested after she unwittingly arranged with an undercover officer to perform oral sex for $1,000 at a downtown hotel, police said.

Nicole M. Hamrah was charged with prostitution and is to appear Sept. 27 in Branch 43 court, officers said. She posted her planned visit to Chicago for the Air and Water Show on the Internet, investigators said.

"She was on her farewell tour," one officer joked. "She'll be in Branson, Mo., shortly."

Hamrah, of Las Vegas, may not be on the A-list of porn stars, but her videos are in stores, said Cmdr. David Sobczyk of the Chicago Police Vice Control Section. He refused to divulge her showbiz name, saying he didn't want to help drum up customers.

"According to her, she was a recent guest on the Howard Stern show," Sobczyk said.

The magazine Adult Video News wasn't familiar with her work, but editors were surprised at her $1,000 fee.

"For oral sex?" asked AVN editor Dan Miller. "Wow."

Hamrah, who was arrested Aug. 23, advertises herself as a "sexy porn star escort" in New York City, Barcelona and the United Kingdom, Sobczyk said.

"She actually autographed one of her DVDs for the arresting officer before she realized he was a police officer," said Central District Capt. Joseph Vaclavik.

Authorities weren't surprised at her age. "In today's world, 48 is not what 48 was," one said.

Angels on the Fairway Sex-Less?

Crystal Williams, Guardian Angel writes:

Whomever is telling you the Angels On The Fairway is a FuckFest is an absolute liar! I first attended this event their second year and was never told that I had to have sex with anyone. I had a great time and since then, I've been helping her with the organization of the event. I can assure you or anyone else that proceeds from this event definitely go to charity.

Simone Sheffield is one of the nicest, sweetest, most generous people in the world. She would never condone such behavior at her events.

You really need to get your facts straight before you start posting such nonsense.

Nick Manning Shakes Down Distributors

I saw firsthand today that champion load-dropper Nick Manning means business. Manning and his new studio Platinum Blue Productions is shooting porn the modern way, but "doing business" the old school way. When a distributor recently failed to pick up Platinum Blue's line, Manning's wrath was felt. He marched into the poor guy's office with his weapon of choice — a wiffleball bat taped for action — and before he left the building the distributor had picked them up 30 deep for every new release. "Take your pick," says Manning. "I either leave with a purchase order or a pint of blood." Beware.

More on Eva Lux

VJ writes:

One of the forums says it was a heroin OD: http://www.livejournal.com/users/alsana/75520.html

"I will say it but only because it's outa the bag-overdose... just hours after I shot my first girl girl hardcore scene with her she relapsed and at some point they pulled the plug on her life support. I'm going to come out and say that I used to be a heroin addict a many years ago and though I still have wounds from those days I am past them. I was hoping she could get to the same place and we often talked about our mutual pain and struggles because if you've ever been a junkie you know it never ends. I only wish she would have confided in me... but maybe she was protecting me from that terrible world that she returned to which I had put behind me cus that's just the kind of girl she was. Regaurdless she was a ray of sunshine in my life and everything will be a shade darker without her. She really lived by the rule of "if you can't say something nice.." she really lived by the golden rule too and gave all that she could to her friends. I always have and will admire her for that, I hope I won't become jaded and forget the lessons Eva has taught me as they are things I see decreasing in the values of our current culture/society. Whether or not she knew it, it took incredible strength to be as kind and sincere as she was. Eva/Leticia was a rare rare gem that we will never find again."

Rumblings & Grumblings

The Lovely Miss Elizabeth calls:

Metro vs. Defiance... redux

Another tidbit about Metro's (pending?) lawsuit against Defiance... I hear from reliable sources that Defiance director Vincent Voss is none other than longtime Metro director Mike Adams, the beau of Jade Marcella.

Update: I have been informed that Mike Adams never had a contract with Metro, either written or verbal. Therefore I can only assume he is free to direct for any company he chooses.

Remember when porn wasn't boring?

Joel Stein writes in The LAT:

When I asked Steven Hirsch, co-CEO of Vivid, the country's largest porn company, why he'd never thrown a premiere, he said he had considered doing it for the upcoming movie, "The New Devil in Miss Jones," but "we couldn't dismiss the embarrassment factor for some of our guests."

...The discomfort, however, never arrived. For the first 20 minutes, the very young, exceedingly tattooed audience kept yelling back, "Rocky Horror"-style, at the screen. They also enjoyed clapping wildly at the climax of each scene. The audience members not only weren't squirming, they were bored. An hour in, the yelling and cheering died off and everyone felt fast-forward-deprived. Cassandra got so bored she left. Remember when they made the mistake of super-sizing "Friends" into 40-minute sitcom episodes? Imagine that in porn time.

VCA/Black Mirror Director Joe Gallant

A director writes me:

I'd like to bring to your attention the fact that I shot a gal last week and we were all talking of all the crap in the industry where people get sick and dont tell anyone and yadda yadda but this gal told me a performer by the name of Aylanna Miles had informed her that she should not shoot anything done by Joe Gallant the owner of black mirror productions and the director shooting for VCA. He is infected with [a certain STD, not HIV] and still performing with talent. He has told no one but a few close people to him in confidence.

He had told her it was from the older days of bands and drugs. This is the kind of s--- that has to stop in the industry. Why would someone want to hurt people like that for a few thrills?

U.S. pornography looks to go mobile

With the advent of advanced cellular networks that deliver full-motion video from the Internet - and the latest wave of phones featuring large, bright color screens - the U.S. pornography industry is eyeing the cellphone, like the videocassette recorder before it, as a lucrative new vehicle for distribution.

A 1996 Letter From Reuben Sturman

I've received some of Reuben Sturman's correspondence from jail. Here he writes to a music producer of his wife Naomi Delgado. It was written March 5, 1996, about 18-months before Reuben died:

Dear Mike,

What a pleasant surprise and a shock to receive your letter. I will endeavor to answer to the best of my ability. Speaking of the ABC story, didn't Naomi look good?

Talking about my problems, for a guy that was supposed to be brilliant, I was extremely stupid. The government took everything that Naomi and I had. I am dead broke. They took our homes, our cars, all our money, in short, everything. They are very bad people and are the worst kind of thieves. If all goes well, some day I will you the story. You will die!

All of the people who I thought were my friends, all of my business associates, all of my help, turned their backs on me. A few of the girls who worked for me keep in touch. I value their friendship. My son, David, testified against me. He is no longer my son. My other son, Lee, is also not my son anymore. My daughter Pegyy is loyal forever. So is Erica. She will be eight in April. She is sweet, loving, and bright. I miss her a lot. Naomi is in jail. She received two years. She blames me.

I can't call as I am only allowed 30 people on my phone list. This is filled up. Between friends, attorneys and family, I am not able to add anyone more. I get enough money for my commisary. I am able to buy once a week. I am enclosing a commissary list for your pleasure. Also a recent picture of me. I am now 71 years old. Physically I am ok. Mentally, on a rating of 1-10, I am minus 17. I don't work. I read a lot. I sleep a lot. I work out daily and am in good shape. The food is adequate. The recreation yard is great. I large track, six basketball courts, a baseball diamond, four handball courts, a large weight room, etc.

The weather has been lousy. All our rooms are two men rooms, but I live alone. We are not locked up. We have a large main floor where we play cards, chess, checkers, etc. We use this floor at our convenience. We have three TV rooms available at all times.

LFPers Tattle on Hustler

The Hustler Tattler writes:

The Hustler Tattler recently asked current LFP staffers and ex-staffers to send in their gossip and the response was overwhelming!

“Liz Flynt would love to fire me. That little bitch fired her own sister.” Hustler Editorial Director Bruce David recounting Liz Flynt’s firing of her sister Lori Berrios from LFP.

“Bruce is scared that they are going to give his job to (managing editor) Morgen (Hagen) because everyone likes Morgen.” Hustler Features Editor Carolyn S-nclair on Bruce.

“Because Bruce is so obsessed with KPFK and Aura (Bogado), no one will do interviews with us. We’re going to be talking to ourselves.” Carolyn confides to a LFP staffer about Bruce’s “war” with Bogado and KPFK, which has alienated progressives such as Amy Goodman and Noam Chomsky.

“Now, in the wake of an insane obsession with political correctness, the Left joins the Right in its zeal to suppress facts it doesn’t like." Bruce David whining about censorship in his article “ZMag, in Support of Militant Feminists, Turns its Fire on HUSTLER.” Ironically, this is the same jackboot Bruce David who censored Mike Albo on Adult StarsNews.com by calling web site owner Dennis Hof and telling him to gag Albo. While Larry Flynt took a bullet for the First Amendment, Bruce David put a bullet right through it.

"I can't hang out with you because Mark (Cromer) is taking me to the L.A. County Fair." Armed with her meal-ticket tastes, Carolyn blows off a friend for then-Features Editor Mark Cromer. She was trying to play Mark for more work and eventually get his job.

"I can't hang out, I gotta go to the Cat N' Fiddle with Cromer." Carolyn blows off a friend again for another opportunity to work Mark Cromer.

"Mark is sitting on my stories while I'm going broke, the bastard." Then freelancer Carolyn rips her buddy Cromer behind his back. Ironically, it was actually Bruce who was sitting on her stories.

“I’ll be much easier to work with and much more fair than Mark Cromer was.” Safely secure in Cromer’s job, newly named Features Editor Carolyn rips Mark repeatedly over the phone to a freelance writers.

“You’re not getting anything.” The new benevolent Features Editor, Carolyn S-nclair, hissing at a freelancer.

“He almost got me fired, the fat piece of shit.” Bruce on entertainment editor Tom Farrell after the Mark Cromer debacle.

“The media owns him.” Carolyn on Tom Farrell and his Star Trek obsession.

“Dude, let me have the video game page and I’ll bring in advertisers!” Tom Farrell convincing Bruce to axe freelancer Gus Mastrapa from the video game page. Tom has yet to bring in one ad, but is cashing Gus’ checks.

“Dude, those girls in Thailand are sold as sex slaves at 9 years old. They take em' right off the farm. It’s sick.” Entertainment Editor Tom Farrell rips Carolyn S-nclair’s article “An American Woman in Thailand” (June 2004, Hustler) which glamorized the Thai child sex trade industry.

“It’s a dirty prospect, but exhilarating, trying to pick up men who are picking up other women.” In her article “An American Woman in Thailand” (June 2004, Hustler), Carolyn reveals her dating secrets for picking up predatory sex tourists who come to Bangkok to buy and prey upon underage Thai girls. She fell in love with one of these quasi-pedophiles whom she boasted was her "best friend" and later referred to him as "the man who is raking up the leaves of my heart..."

“Bruce would come home from the office and cry because everyone at LFP hated him.” Wendy David, Editorial Director Bruce David's long-suffering wife, confides to a LFP staffer.

“Editorial Assistant Hans Feuersinger has written more articles for Hustler than Features Editor Carolyn S-nclair and he has worked at Hustler far longer than she has. Why isn’t Hans the Features Editor?” LFP staffer who requested anonymity.

“Bruce (David) did magic tricks to impress me when we smoked downstairs. It was like he was trying to pick me up. It really creeped me out.” A former 20-something temp recalls Bruce’s not-so-smooth moves.

“I have a PhD in comedy!” Bits and Pieces Editor and Keith Valcourt brags about his vast comedic skills which include failing at stand-up and hosting a farting video.

“His sex parodies stink. They look like (Allan) MacDonnell’s.” Hustler Editorial Director Bruce David on Bits and Pieces editor Keith Valcourt.

“I never said that no one in Ireland had a career. My Irish husband Ronan said it.” Carolyn S-nclair clarifies her position on Ireland. (Bono and U2 please take note).

“Do we have to show the cum shots in the face in every girl set? It’s disgusting.” Carolyn complains about the hard core porn in Hustler.

“…militant feminist Diana Russell has said, ‘How I wish Flynt’s would-be murderer had been a better shot.’ Does anyone think that such a statement isn’t a suggestion that militant feminists commit violence against Flynt, and thus is clearly threatening?” Bruce David whines about Diana Russell’s comments in the November 2005 issue of HUSTLER. This is the same Bruce David who called for a national day of prayer for the death for Bill O’Reilly, started a Dan Rather suicide pool in hopes the anchorman would kill himself, and featured a Dick Cheney heart attack death game in the pages of Hustler magazine.

“I won’t hang out with you on Christmas because you don’t have a family. I am going to hang out with a family on Christmas.” Carolyn spreading the holiday cheer to a friend without a family in December 2004.

“Being a Buddhist has made me enlightened and definitely more caring.” Carolyn preaching what she doesn't practice.

“Tell Ladi to go f--- himself ASAP. No, don’t tell him I said that, or he’ll run to Larry.” Bruce David on photographer Ladi Von Jasky.

LFP's Head Of Production Marc Kramer

An insider writes:

Sure, Marc Kramer was brought in to straighten up LFP Video and bring in the big budget features and get rid of all those who were robbing the LFP bank. He was "the cleaner." Sounds pretty good, huh? Well, I'm sure that's what Marc Kramer thought, too, as he's talking all over town about himself in this way, and preaching to Larry and Dustin these very things…. He talks a good game sure…. "The days of the Hustler's open bank policy are now closed." His heavy rhetoric is what any company owner wants to hear. But the truth…. All the skimming off the top and into his pocket. One of the recent LFP directors called it a "finders fee", as he paid Kramer 10% of his director's fee. All that other stuff has been known for a good while. He flies off the handle at the drop of a hat, etc, etc, etc. He's not a good manager of people. He certainly doesn't have an understanding of the creative spirit, let alone good porn vs. bad, regardless of the genre. And the only business he seems to profit is his own cheap suit pocket. Van Styles and Kat Slater were continually two of LFP's biggest money makers. They're both now gone from LFP. Would it really make sense for a company to want to get rid of the directors that make money for the company? All that stuff about Van, and Jack, and Joanna's insider LFP bad reviews… yeah, that would be called…. "They speak up for themselves." That's the problem Kramer has with these directors.

And sure, the whole Vivid approach wouldn't be terrible. That is…. If they had some contract girls, starting with knowing what the hell to do with the one they do have. Short of those names and knowing how to push those names correctly, and allowing a qualified person to do this job, does anyone really think those movies are going to stand out in the porno glut these days? Well Marc Kramer and Dustin Flynt think that you're going to buy anything to which they've slapped the Hustler name across. And that's about all the business planning those two seem to have… oh yeah… and keep everything cheap, unless it's going into Kramer's pocket. And oh yeah….. Larry doesn't think gonzos look pretty. Sure Axel Braun is happy. Kramer brought him in. I haven't heard a word from any of the directors which Kramer actually brought in on his own. And let me ask you… If you're into Axel Braun movies, and you can buy a recent one cheaper at another company…. Why bother buying the Hustler Axel Braun video? Hmmm… makes you wonder, huh?

Everyone heard about the Kimberly Kane incident. Has anyone heard about the financial statements LFP owes to Jon Dough, per a fully signed contract by then in charge Mark Hamilton, and have not made good on for at least 6 months? How about the shit they tried to pull on Denis Marti, despite his contract… threatening not to pay him, and/or trying to find a way of getting out of the contract they have with Dennis, because Dustin Flynt doesn't like Denis' looks, and didn't understand why the director was also in his video as talent? How about the $10,000 they've owed to Kat Slater since April, for three movies she directed, per a signed invoice by then in charge Noel Bloom. Kramer is still stringing her along on that payment and probably has no intention of ever paying her. And Jack The Zipper…. They still haven't paid him for the first StuntGirl! I ask you…. Who is it that doesn't have their shit together?

None of those who are speaking out or have left LFP video under Marc Kramer, are doing so because of envy. I mean, where was this envious rage when Mark Hamilton or Kat Slater were there? Kramer is a little man who is to be pitied. I, for one, hope Larry does finally get what Kramer has done and continues to do at LFP.

Delilah Strong Beaten Up On Anabolic Set

A month ago, she was punched and dropped head-first on the floor and went to the hospital. The director was Mason.

Delilah was bruised and so smashed up that she didn't look human, says a source.

Here is a link to the video in question. For the next couple of days, her face was swollen and she looked bad.

She didn't sue or make trouble.

Delilah Strong wrote on ADT (August 26): "i personally enjoy being roughed up and don't beleive that i lowered my self respect or dignity by doing so... i have also worked with mason and she is one of the few that understand girls like me."

Brandon Iron replies: "I'm so happy when I read that! I just want to cr-uh-y....uh, I mean, slap you."

Mason writes on ADT 8/25/05:

Look up the word [degrading] in a dictionary. It's not about the loss of free will.

This doesn't mean that some women have been forced/coerced/manipulated into doing degrading things. It certainly can happen. But, non-consent is not a prerequisite.

I enjoy a lot of degrading sex acts in my private life, but, none have ever been forced upon me. A lot of times, I have begged and pleaded for such acts to be done to me by men who just weren't down for the program. And that was cool, because I respected their boundaries.

>I'm sorry you have lowered self respect.

I think the problem is that you feel sorry for the wrong people. I'm doing just fine, thank you very much.

However, I do admire your concern for the performers' health and agree with many of your points. I myself will no longer shoot cream pies, no matter if they're vaginal or anal, and I let everyone around me know my feelings about shooting such acts. I have spoken to other directors and studio heads, asking them to reconsider shooting cream pies. I have also stopped shooting people being choked out.

If your intent is to gain as much support as possible, maybe you should rethink your approach. You are pushing a lot of potential supporters aside with your attitude.

I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, and again, admire your intentions.

>I cannot say I like seeing a beautiful woman getting strangled. Nothing arousing at all.

What about an ugly one?

Variety Covers Pirates Premiere

Directed by Joone, "Pirates" measured its production in weeks rather than days and spent five months in post for special effects such as CGI skeletons.

However, the reality of watching a 129-minute porno proved too much for some audience members. The full house began to trickle out after an hour, preferring to wait in front of the theater and poke through their goodie bags, which, of course, included a copy of the "Pirates" DVD that goes on sale Sept. 26.

Bill writes: "What makes anyone think that fans would watch a 129 minute porno movie. Don't they know these things are viewed in spurts?"

Rodney Moore Emails:

I wanted to clear up an inaccuracy regarding Shelley Lubben, aka Roxie. She mentions that one of the scenes she did for me won an AVN award. We only worked together one time, in 1994, when she was 24, for Cumm Brothers 3, The Boys Go to Traffic School." That movie did not win any award (though it should have!!), but rather the Cumm Brothers series won an award for Best Pro-Am Series in 1997, which did not include the one she was in.

Also, Luke, I'm a little surprised that you refer to me as "Pornographer Rodney Moore." I've always felt we've had a good relationship the few times we've spoken. I was never among the ones who condemned you in the past. Surely you know that the term "Pornographer" has a negative connotation to a lot of people. I'm an adult filmmaker and performer working in the legal adult film industry. The movies I make are not obscene, they are not degrading and I never ask any woman to do anything that she is not comfortable or willing to do in a film. In fact, I usually try to find out what a woman LIKES to do sexually and film her doing that. I feel it makes for a much more exciting scene if the female actually is doing something she enjoys rather than trying to get her to do something she doesn't. I'm sure you would prefer to be called a "journalist" rather than a "smut gossip columnist."

In fact, I have been outspoken against "degrading" adult films, and have never jumped on that bandwagon to make an extra buck. Of course, there are those who feel any adult film is degrading to women. On the other hand, there are those who will say the market regulates the content, and that if there was not such a huge demand by the public for such so called "degrading films," they would not be made. This is certainly true in any industry. If violent video games weren't such big sellers, game manufacturers would simply stop creating them. Abraham Lincoln, one of our greatest presidents, once said, "Prohibition goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."

Also, Shelley says she is lucky to not have gotten AIDS. The chances of getting HIV infection in the industry are very slim when one considers the huge number of adult scenes shot on a daily basis each and every year all over the country. In fact, a little research will show that every case of HIV TRANSMISSION WITHIN the industry came from what is known as "Anal Cream Pies." After the last outbreak, I editorialized in AVN about this and called for the banning of Anal Cream Pie shots in the industry. Had it not been for that, the industry would be 100% HIV free (not counting people who came into the business already positive, or got it outside of the industry). However, telling adult film producers to not make a profitable cream pie movie because someone might get HIV is like telling tobacco companies not to make cigarettes because someone might get lung cancer.. People know the risks, and in a free society, one should have the right to make their own decisions. Just as Shelley all her life has made her own decisions. Again, I'm glad her more recent decisions have led her to a happier life, if in fact she is truly happy.

Shelly Lubbens writes:

If I made a mistake and don’t’ remember every detail from my old fantasy life that I am the first to apologize”. I just believe I was in this movie and it says it was a winner in a series. I stumbled on it one day while researching my past and figured it might have something to do with the call I received about being nominated for some award years ago. Hey, it’s been a long time Rodney. I could care less if I was nominated for a prestigious porn award. If anything, I should have been nominated for nastiest street-hooker award, ey? You’re right, I was one nasty woman and I am just thankful God reached down and pulled me out of the dump and made me into His “girl next door.”

And I agree with you Rodney, Luke shouldn’t of called you a pornographer. That’s a pretty strong word there Luke. It makes it sound like Rodney is the worst person in the world. The truth is we are ALL like filthy rags and unclean to God (Isaiah 64:6). But He loves all of us anyways. I think you’re one pretty special guy Rodney and I thank you for your well wishes towards me. I wish you well too!

Gene Ross Talks To Jonathan Morgan

From Adultfyi.com:

Morgan is touting his latest porn comedy Camp Cuddly Pines Power Tool Massacre, a spoof of horror films of the Eighties and Nineties. First, I'm curious as to how you get a title of that length on a DVD boxcover. Morgan explains the design of the cover of the 2 1/2 movie.

"It's a roller coaster ride of adult cinema entertainment," Morgan laughs. "If you liked what we did with Space Nuts you will love what we did with Camp Cuddly Pines."

I ask Morgan if the Internet rumors are true that Steve Orenstein isn't happy with the project. Morgan says he plays racquetball with Orenstein that if the boss ain't happy he probably would have heard about it by now.

Red Light District Sales

Typical titles sell 7,000 copies out the door. James Avalon's movie Darkside sold 10,000 pieces even though many say it is not very good.

Penthouse tried for months to get a distribution deal with Red Light but they could not agree on financial terms.

Masters Of The Pillow

Kris Roc writes: "I recommend you watch the movie/documentary "MASTERS OF THE PILLOW". It stars porn star Layla Lei. It talks about racism in American sexuality culture. It has many interviews in there as well. It's a good film and good for your gossip sight. The director is also looking for people to help "promote" it. Maybe you should interview him."

From HollywoodBitchslap.com:

God knows, there seems to be no shortage of adult entertainment in the world today - but there is one particular sub-genre that has yet to be filled. Darrell Hamamoto, a Japanese-American professor of Asian American studies at UC-Davis, sets out to make the first all Asian-American adult film, SKIN ON SKIN, and director James Hou brings a documentary film crew along for the ride. The result is part political statement and part celebration of Asian-American sexuality.

From Goldsea.com:

Parents of UC Davis students worry that their kids are being pushed into becoming pornographers by their Asian Studies prof.

A case in point is James C. Hou, a former student of UC Davis Asian Studies Professor Darrell Hamamoto. Hou isn't a pornographer, exactly, but he's the next best thing: a filmmaker who has made a documentary about the making of an Asian American porn video. Who's the pornographer being documented? Professor Hamamoto himself.

The good professor became a pornographer not for the usual reasons — though he isn't above endorsing them — but for a noble one: to liberate the Asian American sexual imagination from its state of colonial enslavement. The abundance of Asian female porn stars and dearth of Asian male porn stars, argues Hamamoto, is both a symptom and a cause of this sexual colonization. Hamamoto writes in his essay entitled “Joy F*ck Club, Prolegomenon to an Asian American Porno Practice (1998)”):

Jessica Darlin Update

Willy P. writes on ADT:

I know some of you read stuff that was pretty shocking from Jessica Darlin. I just moved to Vegas and made the strip club rounds. I met Jessica at Jaguars. She was very soft spoken and totally unlike what i read on other sites. I had to ask what all that racist crap was about. She told me a little story of a f---ed up husband who wanted her to leave the business. They used to sit down together and write press releases. When she kept on doing interracial and continued her career it pissed him off. She said most people know her husband and everyone that has asked her about what she said understood that HE was the asshole. He used her name and went on those rants. She didn't appreciate it at all but was afraid to say it. She did admit to being sick with cancer. She looked great but i guess i can't see her insides...

I always check movie memorabilia on Ebay and ran into the Jessica Darlin collection. I guess the fact that she's sick has brought her to get rid of her whole collection. She has awards, wardrobe, her Extreme contract and all types of other stuff. I haven't seen girls selling that type of stuff before so i'm going to bid as late as possible! I was always a fan of hers and it eases my mind to know that she wasn't saying those things-If my money can go to her helathcare-(she's got no insurance)-than the stuff will be a cool addition to my collection. To let you guys know-She's worth every penny! If you guys are interested-her collection has some vivid photos-at least you can get a free peak at her stuff!

Do porn stars fabricate their life?

Charlotte Stokely writes on her blog:

In a lot of the shoots that I do, they interview me for BTS (behind the scenes), and they always ask questions about past sexual experiences and ex boyfriends. I just want all of you to know, that sometimes they tell me what to say so please dont take anything about the BTS seriously in any of my dvds, internet, or magazines.

Kimi Lixx writes:

Yeah! Vivid put down that my favorite food was chili cheese fries. ME!!! EAT THAT? OH EM GEE!!

I think Vivid also said I was from Boston. Oh yeah, right! Someone else screwed up my birthday and instead of 9/3 it's 3/9 - and that spread around the net. So more than half the bio sites I see say March instead of September. Nobody has my birth year right (hehehehe, I'm not going to correct any of them, some have me down younger than my kids!) I've seen bios that say I have a male cat (nope, she's girlier than me) and that my cat's name is "Pussy-O" - fer sure! NOT! My baby girl would spaz out if I called her that. I have different numbers of children (from none to 4), I been to different schools, graduated and have degrees, own businesses, and just all sorts of random stuff.

Have I ever lied in an interview? I don't think so, but sometimes I've avoided giving answers to questions I am uncomfortable with. Most of those questions are icky and aren't anyone's business unless I specifically want them to know.

Janine Lindemulder Pictures

Harry Wild writes on ADT: "I want to tell you all that I was a big fan of Janine before her plastic surgery. She has now something going on with her nipples! Janine still has that gorgeous face of hers and legs but everything else is not attractive at all to me; especially her body!"

Janine replies:

Ouch Harry....didn't your mama teach you any manners? Look, I don't have "anything going on" with my nipples.......I'm a woman pushin' 40 with a teenager and a toddler both of which I decided to breastfeed and by doing so it will usually change a womans breast/nipples. I love my big, pancake mama nipples, my big ass, and my grey hair.....I earned it! My kids are my priority....I don't give a s--- what it does to my body. Next time..... try and phrase your opinion a little more gently.........I'm only human and that kinda s--- hurts.

Bud Tugley writes:

Janine has so much ink on her that she looks like a railroad boxcar left in an East LA switching yard for a week. I don't like tattoos, piercings, bleached-hair, or boob jobs so she isn't what I desire in porn actresses--which is too bad since she seems likable. But, I'm sure some of you folks love that. Buy her videos. I won't rain on your parade.

Axel Braun writes:

Janine Lindemulder to me is still by far the most attractive adult performer in the business. Ever. No matter how much ink she has on (which I happen to like), she's got way more class than she gets credit for. On top of that, a woman who puts her kids at the top of her priorities is incredibly sexy, if you ask me.

Les writes: "To answer Janine saying: "My kids are my priority" well, I guess every pornstar who at one point in their life decide that family is their priotity...they should have the wisdom to do like Asia Carrera and...retired. So is Jenna suppose to do if she ever manage to get pregnant."

Thoughts About LFP Production Head Mark Kramer

How many LFP directors did Mark hire? Quite a few. So if these directors are having trouble, then Mark bears responsibility. If they're doing good, then it is to his credit.

Why did Kramer lose jobs at Vivid, Digital Playground and Pleasure? He's good at getting hired. Why does he keep getting fired?

Is Kramer a druggie? Well, he definitely rolls his own.

Quasarman writes: "I have no direct knowledge as to what's going on over at Hustler with Mark Kramer but I can tell you that he worked for me for almost a year and he was always organized and professional. If any of what has been said about him is true, it's certainly a side that I didn't see. It is my understanding that he was brought in over at Hustler to reign in runaway budgets and instate some accountability. I don't find it surprising that he might be disliked because of it."

Week #2: What's Wrong With Christianity?

Shelley Lubben Was A Porn Star

In 1993-94, Shelley made about 30 porn movies (she was 25, 26).

We speak by phone Wednesday afternoon.

Luke: "What was your stage name?"

Shelley: "I've never revealed that. But I looked on your website today and saw Sky Lopez, Aria and them [porn stars who've found God], and I thought, 'They've got to live with their crap,' so maybe I should say my name. I'm not going to put it on my website because I have a lot of sex addicts I'm helping. A lot of them are Christian and there's a chance that they'd go and view that.

"I went by the name Roxy. The problem is there are so many [porn stars by that name] online. I've researched it and I know which movies are mine."

After our conversation, Shelley writes me about this list:

Not all of them are my old movies, but about 7 of them are plus some others that aren’t listed there. "Used and Abused 2." "Roxy, A Gang Bang Fantasy." For some reason they have it under Roxy Rider. Some of my movies are under other Roxy’s. Should of picked a more unique name like – Hot Lava. Just wanted you to know I’m for real. It’s gross to put it out there but if it helps others to see I’m for real in order for them to get help, I’ll do it.

Shelley: "I was more of a rising starlet. I worked with Ron Jeremy, Peter North, Nikki Sinn, Bionca, Max Hardcore... They re-released two of my movies last year. The Lord is leading me back into the world to reach people.

"I'd say I did about 30 movies.

"I knew Rodney Moore when he was in the movies. One of our movies won an award at AVN. Someone else called me in 1993-94. AVN wanted to nominate me for Best Newcummer. I freaked out and left.

"I knew Bobby Hollander well. I loved him so much. He was wonderful to me. I'm not mad at these people. I used to hang out with Peter North. He was a really nice guy. He was sweet. Most of the men were sweet. I'm not saying there wasn't abuse going on, because there was. But I have a big heart for them.

"It was mostly the women who were bitchy, although there were some nice ones like Bionca, who was very kind to me."

Luke: "Do people recognize you from your work?"

Shelley: "No. I don't look anything like I used to."

Luke: "Did you stay in touch with anyone from the industry?"

Shelley: "No. Just recently, I contacted a few people. I wanted to reach out with the love of God. Keep it real. Keep it simple. Rodney Moore told me it was ok if I wanted to believe in Santa Claus."

I send Shelley to JCsgirls.com.

Shelley: "Oh, how cool! They're so cute! I just think it's cool that it's not some frumpy Bible-thumpers. It's hot chicks. I'm putting together a team of girls like Charlie's Angels. We're thinking about calling it God's Angels."

Luke: "You wrote that porn actors and actresses are desperately unhappy. Do you hold by that?"

Shelley: "I hung out with them. They were so desperate for company. They were always saying, 'What are you doing? What are you doing?' I was a prostitute at the same time. I'd been doing that for years before porn. I ran a prostitution house. I was really into the money. If we weren't making money, I didn't want to party.

"[Porners] would be [desperate]: 'We're going to have a party and we're all going to be here. Can you come?' Geez, these people must have no friends, no life.

"I've seen girls vomiting in a bathroom after a scene. I see 'em getting drunk and smoking Marlboros around the corner from the set. It's nasty. It's gross when there's catered food and rags full of you-know-what on just around the corner from the catered food. It's really disgusting."

Luke: "For some people, porn has helped them get straight. I've known people who were drug addicts [such as Chloe] and they came into the industry and found a substitute family and it helped them kick their drug addiction."

Shelley: "I totally agree with that. If they didn't have anyone, and you can see why I don't like religion a whole lot, they had to go find another family. The porn industry is one big family. Camraderie. Because they're outcasts.

"I was so new, I was also working as an LA Mermaid. We got to do the Oscar party one year at Chasens. We were hostesses. They didn't know I did porn. Some [porners] wanted to get into the Oscar party and they wouldn't let 'em. I said, 'I'll try to get you in.' I was leading these triple lives. They were outcasts. Hollywood was like, no, no, no.

"I had clients who were Hollywood producers. I don't know what it is like now, but back then [porners] were not welcome into the Hollywood community. So [porners] are like this little family. They're always having barbecues. It's like a church barbecue only people are naked and playing volleyball.

"Not everyone could be trusted in the family. We all said that we were going to stay faithful. 'I'll just sleep with you. I'll just work with you.' And we'd all go sleep with a bunch of other people. It's a sick, twisted family.

"A lot of that time I was intoxicated. I'd have to see the movie to remember. I'm looking at some of the movie covers to see if that helps me remember so that way I can validate... I care about helping people. If this helps me help people, then I'll do it. I'm at the point where you could send me an anal shot, and I'd say, it's no big deal. I'm totally healed.

"The church I go to, Valley Bible Fellowship, is really cool. The Christian community has been very supportive. Sexindustrysurvivors.com just asked me to revise their 12-step program. I'm going to try to hold workshops in the San Fernando Valley helping women recover [from sex work].

"My husband totally supports me. We're a really strong family. I have three daughters. That was my main reason I didn't want to come out but God told me, 'Either you trust me or you don't.' They go to Christian schools. I let the schools know who I am and what I'm about. If they don't like it, my kids don't need to go there, but they all support me."

Luke: "I know some porn stars [such as Papillon and Robert Lombard sends his kid to a Jewish school] who send their kids to a Christian school."

Shelley: "I think that's cool. Everybody thinks they know God so well, but I think people can even come to Jesus through porn stars.

"God hung out with me when I did those movies. He drove me nuts. I was like, 'Leave me alone.' I can't tell you how many times he saved me from murder and things like that. My ten near-deaths were no coincidental. He raised me up for such a time as this.

"I slept with someone who slept with Marc Wallice. I came so close to AIDS.

"I saw you were into Jewish theology. I'm a theology geek. I don't even know if I'm Christian or Jewish or what. We celebrate some of the Jewish holidays. My oldest daughter is really into Judaism. She wears a Star of David in a Christian school. Some of the kids make fun of her because it's a conservative community that we live in. My daughter just loves Jewish people. Her whole room, Jewish stuff everywhere. I love studying the Old Testament, the Tanach. I'm studying Hebrew.

"You don't know the crazy strange way that God is going to use you. The XXXChurch. That's not what we grew up in Sunday school learning."

Luke: "I think porn girls are in it for the attention."

Shelley: "Money is number one. Then attention. A lot of these [Adult] entertainers I met had a lot of talent, a lot of gifts. Some of our parents said, 'We don't see anything in you.' So when the porn industry said, 'Wow! You're somebody!' We think, 'That feels so good.' All of a sudden, we're somebody. Recognition.

"I tell my girls every day how awesome they are."

Shelley has not seen the movie Boogie Nights. "I have not looked at anything like that in 13 years."

Luke: For a lot of porners, porn is the first time they've succeeded at something.

Shelley: "That was me. Now I'm succeeding at everything. No one developed me so I became my own parent with the help of God. I'm also a computer programmer and designer.

"I always knew as a kid that I was intelligent but nobody saw this in me. And the porn industry saw it. I was always very dramatic as a child. I'm very competitive. Unfortunately, I did some hardcore stuff because the other girls couldn't handle it. I said, I'll do it. I'm Italian.

"I was so angry.

"I totally believe in the Devil and he empowered me to do a lot of things that I currently can not do. I was definitely on a weird high back then.

"I only wanted to do one or two movies, but right away I just had to be the best."

Luke: "It seems that for a lot of these girls, they don't have a good relationship with their father."

Shelley: "Big time. That's the number one reason. I'm very careful how I bring that out on my website. I want to honor my parents. I want to live a long life. You know that law. But that is the number one reason -- my dad spent no time with me. He was into his hobbies in the garage. He would rarely say, 'I love you,' or hug me. So I went crazy for boys at a young age."

Luke: "This porn star I interviewed the other day said something shocking -- Joanna Angel said, 'I wish my dad would've molested me. I wish my dad would've paid attention to me.'"

Shelley: "Ohmigosh, that's so right on. That's hardcore. She needs to write that down. I've got to tell my husband what you said. He said damn. He said he'd die if his girl said that.

"A lot of us do stuff to shock our parents. I used to call my mom drunk and say, 'I'm a lesbian.'

"I couldn't clean and cook, so I never washed clothes. I had to constantly buy clothes. I had few life skills."

Luke: "Some of the porn stars do it for years. Nina Hartley has been doing it for over 20 years. She loves it and she's an intelligent woman."

Shelley: "Isn't that crazy? Once you do it, you become so jaded. It means nothing any longer. It took me about six years to get any kind of sexual feeling back in my body. I couldn't even feel penetration. They can say they had all these orgasms on a porn set. I never had one.

"Porn is harder than prostitution, where you are treated nice if you are in the luxurious side of it. Porn was totally degrading and shattering. None of the men in prostitution treated me sexually like the men in porn did.

"The men in porn were nice after the sex, but during the sex, we had to do things that I've never done in prostitution. I'd go out with Jewish men who'd take me to concerts and offered to take me to Israel. I didn't go to Israel. I regret that now because I'm a theology student.

"There are so many interesting bizarre people [in porn]. I'm so non-judgmental. I see God in all of it because they are his creation.

"I was thinking of going down to AIM and just saying hi. I've written Sharon Mitchell. People usually think that if you're Christian, you are against them. Not true. Nowhere on my website do I call myself a Christian because I don't want to be associated with religious people who judge. Jesus didn’t judge. I'm a believer in Jesus Christ and God. I'm a lover. I'm really embarrassed about the Christian church as a whole. When I go down there, I just want to love them. I just want to be their friend. I just want to take them to lunch and hear their story."

Chaim Amalek writes: "Given the preponderance of Jews in porn (at least behind the scenes) why do you never write about people leaving porn to return to a Torah lifestyle?"

Because it doesn't happen. Why is that? Because Judaism doesn't embrace sinners as much as Christianity does.

Chaim writes: "Why are Christians always returning to the Church and leaving porn behind, but not so with Jews? I guess if you are a sinner trying to turn things around and in need of help, it is better to be Christian than Jewish."

Fred writes: "Luke, do you think that one of the big aspects of Christianity is responsibility avoidance? Sort of like saying "I sinned, but I believe, so I get to avoid taking resonsibility for all my screw-ups." Judaism requires much more contrition for one's sins."

Helpful writes: "As the only Christian on the panel I must say that the whole blanket forgiveness thing is a real plus. I went to a bukkake. Hey, Jesus forgave me. It rules!"

Khunrum writes: "Hold it Rob. I'm a lapsed Protestant, now somewhat of a Buddhist like my wife. Buddhism is also a soft core, forgiving religion. Picture if you will the 100 monk gang bang."

ADT thread on Shelley Lubben.

I asked pornographer Rodney Moore about Shelley. He replies:

Shelley sent me an email which said nothing but that she was someone from my past, and I responded just asking her why she emailed me and I did say I was glad she had found happiness living a fairy tale. This was her reply email:

Just wanted to say hi. I've been living the fairytale for 10 years now and it's better than the "fantasy" life I was living. Sex is better that's for sure. I didn't want to offend you or anything. I'm actually very cool and LOVE the porn people lots. Not here to preach religion. Just here to say, hey I'm here if someone needs a friend. I care. Be blessed and happy. You're a very special man Rodney. Your life means more to me than you'll ever know. Shelley

Anyway, I have little memory of her, other than she looked very "street hookerish" the one time I shot her, way too much eye makeup, and way too nasty looking for my taste. She came from an agency, I shot her one time only, and really don't remember very much about her other than that she looked very "hardened" compared to most of the girls I shoot, which tend to be more natural and "girl-next-door" types.

I have no problem in people doing whatever it takes to make them happy, provided they don't infringe on anyone else's rights. I did do a quick scan of her "story" on her website, and I will say two things about it. I would guess she has grossly overplayed the bad aspects of her life in the sex industry, though I didn't know anything about her when I shot her. The other thing is that there seems to be an attitude on her part that because this was her life, than every woman who does porn has the same experience. I'm sure that you would be the first to admit that this is totally not true, as there are many happy and mentally stable female adult sex film stars. That is not to say there are no hard luck stories out there. However, I feel the miserable life that Shelley claims to have had has much more to do with her childhood, her parents, her background and certainly herself, far more so than the adult film industry which she had absolutely no contact with until she was 18, a time in her life when her thoughts, her choices and her life path were already well formed. If she has truly found happiness, I wish her well.

Porn Scoop

A source writes:

LFP: After a passle of unhappy dirtectors either leaving or complaining -- Van Styles, Jack the Zipper, etc. -- there are about eight or nine who've publicly or privately refused to work for the company again -- Larry Flynt has gotten fed up, and Marc Kramer is out. He just doesn't know it yet. As other LFP insiders know, once Larry decides, it's all over. Just takes a little while for him to hand you your ass and kick you out. Wonder who the next idiot will be...?

A source writes: "Just spoke to somebody at LFP. Kramer is not out. Unfortunately when you're in a position of pover a lot of people suddenly hate you. Envy is a really bad thing, huh? Marc has a lot of experience and is doing a great job as far as I know. The directors are "leaving" because they can't get their s--- together, that's all."

I hear that the directors left because LFP is following Vivid's lead into making movies that fit the broadcast and hotel market. This market will make more money and be more socially acceptable (less likely to be successfully prosecuted for obscenity) than the raincoater market. The porn fanatics who write to boards like RAME, ADT, XPT are not the silent majority of the total porn-viewing populace.

I'm hearing of bad reviews from inside LFP about the work of Van Styles, Jack The Zipper, and Joanna Angel.

Axel Braun responds to what my source wrote me: "I am honestly very happy with LFP. I am non-exclusive, so I shoot 2 movies a month for Sin City/Mayhem, one for Hustler, and one for EXP. I am getting paid axactly what I asked for by all of them. I actually really like working for LFP and never bitched with anybody."

PENTHOUSE: The suits in Florida are really unhappy that they couldn't flip Penthouse immediately, so they're going to stop shooting hardcore movies and try to dump the ones thay have shot. In true form, they just canceled a whole slew of dates again.

My sources tell me that Penthouse is shooting all-out.

My sources say the owners of Penthouse have never stopped supporting the Republicans. They’re business men. They didn’t buy Penthouse because they’re Larry Flynt or Hugh Hefner. They're happily married men. They bought Penthouse for the name and its branding power. They're not going to dump Penthouse until they get a huge return on their investment. Penthouse CEO Marc Bell raised $45 million to launch Penthouse TV. Marc Bell owned Globix, which was a huge huge internet provider to a lot of porno sites. "They’re not exactly babes in the woods when it comes to adult entertainment," says a source.

DIGITAL PLAYGROUND Well, anyone who was at the "Pirates" premiere will tell you that, as predicted, all those effects that were in the trailer aren't really in the movie, except the clips that were finished for the trailer. That's 'cuz Joone's brother does all that crap, and he wasn't about to do CGI for an entir4e movie for free.

A source within Digital Playground says: "The entire movie was filled with CGI special fx - if you watched the movie you will know that - there are over 300, closer to 400 to be exact."

Also, you might have noticed that Jesse Jane is hosting the AVN awards. That was Connelly's doing. He promised it to Digital in one of his...rampages behind his locked office door.

My DP source says: "Gary (AVN producer) noticed Jesse at last years show - this has been talked about since January with Paul and Gary ONLY and Paul Fishbein made the FINAL decision."

Incidentally, I believe that Tim Connelly is despised by Digital Playground for his write-up in AVN of Tera Patrick leaving the company (it was pro-Tera Patrick and had a giant pull quote from Tera "I f------ built that company.' Tim and company may consider Digital "high maintenance," and he may have wanted to try to get into their good graces again, he might've asked Jesse to host the awards, but she's perfect for the post anyway.

ZERO TOLERANCE Apparently they've been really riding collections lately, trying to get everyone to pay net 30. That's a sure sign that a company is starting to feel the pinch.

Anyway, their number of employees keeps rising as does its sophisticated equipment. The just bought a half-million dollar coach (like Steve Ornstein's) which Greg Alves will use for sales trips.

NEW SENSATIONS The special effects company that did all the work for Dark Angels 2 is getting ready to drag Scott Taylor into court...

WICKED Steve Orenstein spent over $150,000 on Jonathan Morgan's "Sleepaway Camp" horror movie parody, and [is not happy with it].

REDLIGHT Naturally, "Darkside" is going to get huge reviews from AVN, but everyone inside the company thinks the movie stinks. All the powers that be were really disappointed with the soft sex that ended up in the final product. James Avalon. Duh! Were they expecting Rocco? Of course all the egotistical in-house guys are smirking at Avalon at the same time that they resent the press and budgets he's being given.

ADAM & EVE/KSEX/TEAM TYLER Adam & Eve is going to dump their sponsorship of KSEX. They're very unhappy with several of the current shows, and have realized that the whole operation is a big 2257 nightmare waiting to happen, and Phil Harvey has enough s--- on his hands right now. Also, the Adam & Eve people want KSEX to fire Wankus.

Rick Williams saw some of the footage from Team Tyler's first release and he wants to back out of his distribution deal.

A publicist from Adam & Eve responds: "Adam & Eve has not yet made the decision as to whether or not it will renew its contract with KSEX. That decision is always made towards the end of the contract term, which is not up until the end of the year. We initially entered into such an arrangement because of Wankus. He is KSEX – he’s one of the main reasons we decided to sponsor the station. In fact, Chris Rick –from KSEX- will be here in the office to discuss our futures together very soon."

A source writes: "Adam and Eve might be upset with KSEX because of the drug use going on behind the scenes before certain hosts go on air. Mofo gets high before his show along with whomever is co-hosting."

Ric Williams, owner of Black Widow, replies: "Absolutely not true...this guy is full of s---! The movie is great and we start shipping it on September 26th."

A source writes: "In other Redlight District news, the stats area for their affiliate program hasn't been working for the past week or so and no one has emailed affiliates about why they can't check their stats. The site is redlightrevenue.com."

James DiGiorgio On XXXChurch Radio Show

I met these guys a few months ago.

One pastor: "JimmyD [on his blog] spends most of his time speaking out against the industry. I see JimmyD in a year not doing porn anymore. I think he makes porn for a living. I don't think he really likes what he does. Why is he so angry against the industry?"

Jimmy comes on around 7:20am: "It's not an early person's industry.

"I came into it like many people do -- through stand-up comedy.

"You guys cost me a lot of money.

"I fell into it. I'm a lazy person. It's an easy way to make a living."

Jimmy says he has a problem with misogynistic porn that degrades women. "I don't have any problem visually depicting sex.

"If you were going to take your kid to the park, would you leave them unattended? If not, then why would you leave them unattended on the park that we call the internet?"

The pastors say DiGiorgio will be out of porn within a year.

James DiGiorgio writes me:

lukey, let me clarify a few things for you. first, i don't spend most of my time "...speaking out against the industry." I spend most of my time working in the industry. Next, I am not "...angry against the industry." I'm simply a guy who makes his living here and I'm someone who's not afraid to share his opinions about this business; positive opinions as well as negative opinions as well as neutral opinions.

People who know me well will tell you that i'm not one to give a s--- who my opinion agitates, irritates, or outright pisses off. I have no axe to grind with this industry. I have worked in it for well over a decade, i think 12 or 13 years or so, and I've probly shot more porn in that time than many of today's shooters have.

I do think this business has more than its share of assholes, scumbags, morons and egotists. but, it also has more than the usual share of really great people. i think this business is too-often self-destructive or, at least, seems to head down (in my opinion) self-destructive paths.

finally, i'd like to say that if anyone thinks i owe some kind of blind faith allegiance to anyone in this business, or to anyone or anything else for that matter, and that i'm not entitled to my own opinion on whatever i want to have an opinion on, they can go f--- themselves. does that clarify where i'm at with all of this?

The XXXChurch: Jerry Falwell in a hip package?

AVN Editor in Chief Mike Ramone (well-read in the writings of famous agnostics and atheists) wrote a critical opinion piece about the XXXChurch back in September 2004. There’s no link to it on AVN.com, but here’s an excerpt:

There’s a cancer on our industry.
O.K., maybe just a polyp.
It’s called the XXXChurch and perhaps like me, you’ve noticed them quietly hanging around the sidelines of our industry the last few years, taking booths at conventions and trade shows, and not quite knowing what they’re all about. XXXChurch? What’s that? Some kind of sacrilegious adult website? Or some porn-lovin’ — as absurd as it sounds — Christian group?
Wrong on both counts. While Mike Foster and Craig Gross, the two youngish fundamentalists who run the XXXChurch aren’t on the surface your traditional in-your-face-fire-and-brimstone-porn=sin=Hell types, that’s exactly who they are underneath. They’re essentially Pat Robertson/Jerry Falwell/Lou Shelton wrapped in a young, “hip” disguise, ministering to us here in Porn Valley uninvited, peddling the same old, same old. Needless to say, they are not our friends, even though they undoubtedly think otherwise.
Check out their website, XXXChurch.com on which they rail against the glue, uh, make that the goo, which binds together this industry — masturbation.
After stating, “OF COURSE WE’RE NOT PRO-PORN (sic),” their FAQ page posits, “What is your stand on masturbation?”
“Here’s the truth,” they answer. “You want to live a life that is honoring to God, then start pleasing him and stop pleasing yourself.”
