Ginger Lee, the retired porn actress who has been a top feature dancer for over seven years and one of the most requested models, has met with some difficult times as of late.
Ginger, who is well known for being a sexual abuse advocate, fights for women’s rights and affordable health care for all, was at an outdoor photo shoot at the end of August and slipped on a ledge while barefoot. She severely broke her right foot in the unfortunate accident.
At the time the doctors said she would be in a cast and out of work four to six weeks. But nearly 11 weeks later she is still in a cast and has not been able to work. Ginger has Lupus and that has prevented the bones in her foot from healing. To make matters worse, her doctors took her off some of her Lupus medications because some of the medication contained NSAIDs and that was also preventing her bones from healing.
Her orthopedic surgeon told her she needed surgery to repair the more serious breaks. But since Ginger is self-employed and has a pre-existing medical condition, she is not able to get health insurance. Without health insurance and no income coming in she is not able to afford the surgery.
Ginger has to pay for anything and everything out of pocket and that includes all of her medical expenses. The orthopedic surgeon is going to have Ginger keep the cast on until after the first of the year. It may be mid January before she is able to get back to doing the things she loves like feature dancing and modeling.
Until then she is in dire need of help with her finances. Ginger’s bank account is on thin ice right now so she has setup the ‘Ginger Broken Foot Fund’ hoping her fans, friends and people she used to work with will have a kind heart and make a small donation to help her pay for everyday bills and living expenses like; electric, mortgage, car insurance, home owner’s insurance, medication that she is allowed to take for her Lupus, and food.
“Due to pre-existing conditions, mostly Lupus related, I am uninsured, so I’m paying for anything and everything out of pocket,” Ginger said. “Already being ‘sick’ and then breaking my foot has put me in a…rather odd spot.”
Ginger is one of the most kind-hearted persons you could ever meet, but she is stubborn (she will be the first to admit that) and self-confident. It took a lot for her to ask for help and she knows with Christmas fast approaching people will be tight with their money.
“I am stubborn. I’m really crummy at asking for help,” Ginger said. “ But…I need my ‘regular’ medications next month, as well as funds to pay stuff like my electric bill, mortgage, & buy some food along the way. So here I am.”
Ginger is very much into crafting, reclaiming and repurposing old furniture, picture frames, old windows and anything that unique that she can sell from her Etsy account. She can only make so much from that and although it helps out some, it is no where nearly enough to keep her afloat. Often when a porn girl gets hurt or sick they ask for help (or someone asks on their behalf with a fund raiser). I always wonder the same thing. They probably made 10x-20x what I make and they put $0.00 into health and life insurance and don’t plan for the future when their porn career is over.
I feel bad for her and the others with troubles (as I’ve been there) but they gotta start planning for tomorrow and not just living for today.
She could make quite a bit escorting, cast or no cast. Do the whole thing independently, don’t work with any agency and charge the reasonable sum of $1K per hour. 5 gents a month and she will be sitting pretty.

Its not safer but she does not have to give 50% or more to a pimp.
But if a proper pimp is doing his job then he’ll screen out the whackos and undercover scumbags who ought to be doing better things with taxpayer money then interfere in mutually consensual transactions. And if a ho is busted a proper pimp will be on the ball to bail her out right away so the ho doesn’t throw it all on and take it out on her significant other.
If she doesn’t want to do all the legwork herself, hire a booker. But don’t give a 50% cut to a pimp.

I gotta cry Bullshit! on the can’t get health insurance statement. That has been eliminated by Obamacare. She CAN get insurance.
What’s the old parable about giving someone a fish and teaching them to fish? 🙂 Instead of asking for handouts to pay this months bills just in time for next month’s bills to be due, why not get her into a FREE credit counseling service?
The provision in Obamacare about the insurance companies not being able to deny a person with a pre-existing health condition does not go into effect until January 1, 2014.
She has applied for coverage on numerous occasions and has been rejected every time because of her lupus.She had health insurance when she was diagnosed with lupus and the insurance company dropped her.
She is extremely good at handling her finances. Better than a lot of people I know. Paying out of pocket for her lupus medical bills and now with her broken foot issue has drained her life savings.
People really should get the facts straight.

Uninsured people with pre-existing conditions in every state now have access to coverage through the new, temporary Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan. This serves as a bridge until 2014, when insurance companies can no longer deny or limit coverage or charge higher premiums to anyone because of a preexisting condition. That is a government plan, not private insurance companies. She has applied for that temporary plan. However, it will be several months before she finds out if she has been accepted or not because of the backlog of applicants. While she is waiting on word from that plan she is still getting denied coverage from private insurance companies.
Here I have been defending her and what has she done with the donated money (I just went to the link in the story and it’s over three grand), she went on a vacation. Not only has she duped the people who made donations, she duped me and everyone else who believed in her. I am sorry to the other commenters. You were all right about her. The person who wrote the piece, she got you too.
