ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Cardinals capped a postseason nobody figured they’d be part of by defeating the Texas Rangers, 6-2, Friday night in Game 7 of the World Series. The resilient Redbirds couldn’t be vanquished.
In the waning days of August, St. Louis had a 0.2 percent chance of reaching the playoffs, according to AccuScore, a company that calculates probabilities by running thousands of game simulations. Expressed another way, the Cardinals faced 1 in 500 odds
And that was to make the playoffs. Their chances of winning the World Series were miniscule, like a speck of Midwestern dust somehow reaching Manhattan or Malibu. It might have been the greatest comeback in baseball history.

LaRussa is still a douche. That is pretty much my whole opinion. I’d have liked to see Texas win their first, but I got no real hate for the Cards.

I do hope this helps them keep Pujols. He couldn’t handle a major market, and it is good to see guys stay somewhere their entire career.

  2. Larry Horse says:

LaRussa is a major penis! Wonder if him and Ron(Jeremy) use the same shit to darken their hair.

  3. Don’t be hatin’ on Tony and his small-ball skillz. Texas didn’t deserve to win the fucking championship. They played a shit game and thought that walking half of the Card’s roster was good strategy.

    Go Rally Squirrel!

That was fucking awesome! And you could sense it coming, even when the Cards were down to one strike, two runs down, two times in game 6. I’m gonna watch game 6 again on mlb.com… one of the greatest playoff games in baseball history!

The Cards season was magic, very 2012ish on the positive side, reminding us that anything is possible. Nolan Ryan had his Steinbrenner face on, the opposite aire and attitude Carpenter (who was smiling, even at the brink of defeat) had. I don’t know why you guys are dissing LaRussa. He finally did the right thing in game 7 putting Berkman behind Pujols, instead of Holliday who should’ve taken a holiday much sooner, or at least flip flopped in order behind Berkman. Washington fucked a couple of things up big time in game 6, one of them was pinch hitting for the pitcher who should’ve pitched the next inning, putting it all the shoulders of a likely to fail pinch hitter, then giving up one of their better and much needed closers at that time. The other fuck up was walking Pujols to pitch to Burkman. Burkman, in spite of Al’s historic 3 home runs in one game, was the bigger nemesis average-wise this post-season. I wonder what Washington’s dance would’ve been like if Texas won it all. Perhaps we’ll never know. Everything is big in Texas, including losing.

  5. St. Louis does’nt deserve shit! They need to send a big thank you card to the Atlanta Braves for choking the last couple of weeks of the season. THe St. Louis Cardinals can suck my ass!!

  6. jeremysteele11 says:

They all choked, PF. The top two teams in baseball, Philly and the Yanks, couldn’t make it pass the first round. You can’t thank the Braves for that. Baseball reminds me of the original days of the UFC, when you had to fight three fights, three different opponents (no classes or divisions, and few rules) to win it all. In baseball and the old school UFC, players are all banged up and exhausted by the end of it, and guys can slip in as fresh alternates, who no one was paying attention to. Baseball is a game of failure. The top players fail most of the time. You can never say for sure who’s gonna go all the way, who is burnt out at the end of the season and who takes it to a level which is not the norm when it’s day in, day out, during the regular season.

  7. It doesn’t help that they made the schedule so long to squeeze in as many games as possible (160+) to milk the most money they can from the fans. The pitchers/catchers start in feb/mar and the season ends at the end of October.
