Does actual popularity matter when it comes to winning awards?

Not to long ago we talked about the top 10 most Googled porn stars of 2015. Those where the girls who the fans were out there “searching” for.

It will be interesting to see how that type of popularity will compare during awards season. This Friday night (January 15th) is the XBIZ awards show. And what I noticed is, not a single girl in the top 10 most Googled porn star list is nominated for the Female Performer of the Year.

Although I will say a few are nominated in the Best Actress category – specifically Asa Akira and August Ames.

Best Actress – Feature Release

So here is my question for you … do you think their overall popularity with the fans online will play into the judges decision when it comes to winning the award of Best Actress? What do you think matters more when it comes to winning an award like Best Actress …. how popular the performer is or which studio released the movie she was in?
