Charles writes- I cut this video for Dave’s memorial. Only 7 minutes long, but captures some of Dave’s varied history, the bulk of which most people in the Industry don’t know about. He was a respected journalist and writer with several published novels as well as graphic novels, etc., and then had another life as a blood-letting performance artist (well ahead of the cultural curve) in NYC and San Francisco. Dave was also an accomplished musician whose band, False Virgins, put out two CDs, both produced by Lee Renaldo of Sonic Youth. His career as a porn director was the latest incarnation of a brilliant and complex man.
