April Fools joke perpetrated by Rising Star PR (“Signs John Holmes”) was beyond disgusting

Cindi,

As the co-producer and principal interviewer on the award-winning feature documentary "Wadd: The Life and Times of John C. Holmes", as well as the author of "Long Time Money and Lots of Cocaine", I am better acquainted than most with the ignominy of John’s later years (the material relegated to the proverbial cutting room floor in both the movie and the book is vast and profoundly disturbing).

The April Fools joke perpetrated by Rising Star PR ("Rising Star PR Signs John Holmes") was beyond disgusting and, believe me, I am no Holmes apologist; in fact, I walked away from "Wadd" in the post-production phase because director Cass Paley’s vision of the film as a sort of valentine to Holmes didn’t quite jibe with the sociopathic monster I had come to know over 13 months of interviewing principals in John’s life, both on screen and off, an adventure that I recounted in a 1999 cover story for Eye Magazine, "Exhausted: The Dark Secrets of Johnny Wadd."

What will Rising Star PR do for publicity next? A John Belushi Memorial Speed Ball Competition at the Chateau Marmont? A Linda Lovelace Hotdog Eating Fest at Pink’s? Tasteless, tacky, and shameful, proving once again that porn never has attracted the best and brightest minds but at least we now know who occupies the bottom of the gutter: Rising Star PR.

(Yes, this is for publication)

Best,
