Interview With UK's Terry Stephens Of One Eyed Jack Productions

* How did you get into porn?
Terry: I started out selling dodgy quality pirates back in 1996 from a free ads paper and was propositioned by a customer to make a video. I found another couple who were also customers who agreed to do it. The woman was an old alcoholic. That was my first home made movie and I was allowed to keep the camera as a gift...I didn't get into the amateur scene until a year later when I paid for my first shoot. I guess my career really started from there.
* What do you love and hate about porn?
Terry: I love the psychology. This industry is filled with interesting, varied and complex people. I just hate the misconceptions people have about porn. Like you have to be abused to want to do this...How about some people are just plain f---ing horny and don't mind getting paid well for what they would have done for free.
* What are your ambitions?
Terry: I've started distribution here in the UK and would like to raise my profile for doing reality based porn in the US...Then I would like to move into porno animated movies...Disney watch out! Animation has always been my goal. Porn has been good to me, making a living and in the end I believe it will take me there.
* When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Terry: I wanted to be a space man, then a racing car driver, then I became a complete nerd and drew comics...I was a moderate comic fan...I love Peter Bagge!- Yo Pete love your stuff!...Then I became a pornographer. Its funny how life turns out.
* What were you expected (by parents, etc) to become?
Terry: My mum encouraged my artistic streak and thought I was going to become an artist of sorts...I guess I am now. In a way. All she wanted me to do was finish college and do what ever I wanted to do as long as I did college....She's not too disappointed in me for what I do now. In fact she doesn't mind at all.
I'm working on Saharas dvd here in the UK. I am also responsible for a lot of the new girls who were launched here coming to America, such as Angel Long, Amy Ball, Rio Mariah, Jazz Duro.
I've also recently launched the UK Adult Producers Forum www.ukadultproducers.com from a meeting we all had at the recent Erotica exhibition in London. The show was boring but it was well worth it for the ideas we tossed around. There were no egos involved and everyone seemed genuinely enthusiastic that we, as a collective could bring about that much needed change to the UK adult industry by networking and collaborating on new projects such as marketing and changing attitudes to the way we are seen here and abroad.
Everyone is still doing their own thing of course but helping each other out to maximise our repsective business potential. The site is password protected so that only producers are allowed inside but we do have a general forum for fans who have something to say to us directly and a models forum where the girls can find a pool of producers without having to struggle through a sea of back street fly by night amateurs that sometimes put girls off the industry as a whole.

More Discontent About Black Widow Productions
Terry Stephens aka One Eyed Jack replies to my inquiry about Black Widow:
Hi Luke, I'm not happy for the same reasons. Payments are always later and later...I still havent received a payment for 2 months now and i do consider it a breach of contract with the VODs...In the contract it stipulates they can do whatever they want with it but not without prior consent from the licensor (me).
The worst part of it was they didn't even tell me, I found out through another source. This is not a good working business relationship at all. I've voiced my concerns to Ric who swears he would never rip me off a cent but how can sales be so poor in the US when they have performed a lot better in the UK which isn't even the size of Texas, and with the fact our sales are restricted to some 400 sex shops where they can only be legally sold here. It does invite distrust and suspicion the way they have conducted bsiness so far.
I am not happy at all with my treatment there at Black Widow. I can speak for my clients also at Mad At it Productions who have Hard Days At The Orifice with them and Jay Kennedy with his Real British Hookers and Kat Vargas Gang Bang Club I have the Naughty Shorts and Real Life Couples line with them. I don't think I will be doing further business with them until this is all cleared up.
