Though he insists on using condoms, Tony Tedeschi remains one of porn's top dozen studs of the '90s. Tony met performer Britt Morgan while working as a DJ at a strip club in Providence, Rhode Island.

"There are persons in the industry who treat women badly. I speak against that. With the success of cable TV, I think much of the dirt bag crowd will be left behind as we move closer to the mainstream.

"I think Max Hardcore's work, for instance, is disgusting. It's not right. I don't want to go into detail," Tony said in June, 1997, obviously burned by his past outspokenness. "I don't want to get screamed at by a bunch of assholes... There's too much he said, she said stuff in this business...

"AVN's Boneyard, for instance. Gossip doesn't belong in a trade publication. But for some infantile reason, AVN needs to have scandal and act like some trashy rag. They think that belittling the people that pay their bills is good. They have no respect for talent. A lot of people in this industry treat talent like cattle, like a commodity to be brokered and traded. But that's changing.

"For the most part, Hustler Erotic Video Guide dumps on the people who are assholes and deserve to be dumped on. People that f--- with people. They know. It's poetic justice.

"My mother worries about me... She feels better that I use condoms. My grandmother is an old-school Italian Catholic who despises it...

"My friends from childhood think it's cool that I do porn. I appear on Spice all the time. I'm from New England and there aren't many people there who appear on TV. Most people in America now appreciate porn. It does a service. Jacklyn Lick told me that a couple wrote to her and said they kept a picture of her by their bed. They watch her movies and if they conceive a child after watching one, they will name it after her."

"I try to look out for girls new to the industry and let them know what's up and what the truth is. I don't want people to take advantage of naivete through false threats to make them do things that they don't want to do. I love women and want to look out for them.

Tedeschi's theory on the prevalence of Italians and Jews in porn is that these groups "have more ambition and drive than most people."

After Barbara Doll tested HIV positive on April 10, 1995, Tony began insisting on condom use in his sex scenes to decrease the likelihood of transmitting disease and to send a responsible social message. The Italian-American generally appears in the bigger budget productions of such companies as VCA and Vivid.

Tony says porn attracts people with oral fixations, which is why most people in the business smoke. Serenity attributes the prevalence of cigarettes to long periods of waiting on a set.
