Veteran cameraman Jxxx Kxxx, born in 1945, is best known by his porn name Jane Waters. He also works in mainstream productions.

Waters takes up a chapter in the book by Robert Stoller and Ira Levine, Coming Attractions, about the making of VCA's Stairway to Paradise, a 1990 video directed by Sharon Kane and produced by Jim Holliday. "This film was a collaborative effort between about five [Ira, Jane, Jim, Sharon, Falco] of us. Because we were handed this sixty-seven page script [by Holliday] that was absurd. Like a seven page dialogue about Jesse James reincarnated before a hand even touches another human. We all looked at each other at this meeting with Mr. Holliday. Jim had written the script with Sharon. When I left that meeting, I said, 'Sharon, I can't do it in two days; so I won't do it. It would take four to do it. I can't even say I'll try and do it in two days.' We told Sharon that we would support anything she wanted to do: 'Go ahead and make this script workable. Rewrite it so that we can do it in two days.' So we supported each other while Mr. Holliday stayed in the hallway making sure the actresses' bras were on straight." (Coming Attractions, 1993)

At age 21, "Jane", an actor in New York, was hired for a film in Colonial Willimsburg. Feeling bored during the six week shoot, Keeler began studying the Éclair camera and the Nagra recording equipment. He eventually became an assistant to the director and helped edit the movie. John later worked on TV commercials before moving to Los Angeles in 1983, and shooting porn.

While working on Stairway to Paradise, Sharon Kane and Jane Water began an affair.

"I've been involved with four women in six years in this business," Jane Waters said in 1989. "Women are very jealous about my involvement with anyone else on the set. Traditional jealousy. My theory is if you're [woman] f---ing for a living and you can pick and choose who you f--- on a set, then I should be able to. The sexuality should be open. The concept of a monogamous relationship eludes me when your job is to f--- for a living while I must maintain my monogamy with you.

"Whatever your job is in this business, it's expressing your sexuality… I can touch these people, snatch them off the set, and go home and play with them. Part of my payoff is that I can f--- as many people as I want to. The one with Sharon was wonderful. A charged rapport that allowed us to get this film together." (Coming Attractions)
