Blonde porn star Tia, born around 1963, rebelled early against her conservative upbringing.

"I grew up in Covina and Hollywood. My father is an Assembly of God preacher. I have two older brothers. One died.

"I've known [rock star] Vince Neil since age seven. He was my neighbor. We'd run around Hollywood together.

"He used to throw rocks at me and make me dance my way to school. I hated him.

"At age 12, he introduced me to playing doctor. We had sex. We were together from age 14 on."

Tia remembers Vince as a quiet teenager at Charter Oak High School, "into himself, but nice. He was the cutest kid inschool withlong hair past his shoulders. He was manly, not a wimp, not a pussy whipped guy. He stood up for himself. He knew what he wanted and went after it. He didn't care what others thought. When he bleached his hair, other kids made fun of him but he didn't care."

Tia danced topless and mudwrestled nude at the Tropicana in Hollywood to support Vince and his struggling band. They all lived in a one bedroom apartment above the Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood.

Tia was only 18 but she used a fake i.d. to strip.

"They didn't check 'em back then like they do now."

Tia says she was married to Vince Neil, but persons who know both of them, such as Ron Jeremy, say that's not true.

One night in early 1994, Tia was in the Rainbow Club where she saw a handsome young man walk in.

"I want that," Tia told her girlfriend. "We started talking and we've been together for two years. He initally told me he was 29. But after we'd been together for a year, I found his driver's license in the car and saw that he was 21."

Tia's new mother-in-law looks after her three children (from her second marriage) while Tia's on the set, which has been most of her first year in porn. Tia's new husband - her third - works in a factory and sings in his own rock n'roll band.

"The long hair, the tattoos," says Tia describing her husband. "It's in my blood."

Tia likes supporting her wild men. "I feel more safe than depending on anyone. And if my relationship falls apart, I can depend on my career to support me and my kids."

All of Tia's children know she works in porn. In fact, everyone who deals with Tia knows. She's become notorious in her conservative Simi Valley community.

"I get judged from the way I look. My kids can't play with the neighbor's kids, for example. I even get this from people who don't know what I do for a living. They tell me that I don't look like a regular mom."

Tia's daughters are seventeen and ten years of age and her son is nine."It's hard for me to hang out with anybody. But with people in the porn business, the sex is already over with. Everybody gets along. It's not like, "You're going to go cheat on me." Sex is not an issue. And nobody judges anybody."

Most performers echo Tia's sentiments. Because outsiders frequently look down on them, they, the performers, spend most of their time with other persons in the biz. This helps make it difficult to leave porn, because you're leaving most, if not all of your friends behind, and you're leaving a particular lifestyle.

Tia says she doesn't drink or do drugs. "Porn is like the rock n'roll scene. I was surprised by how many girls take drugs [in porn]. They do it because they're not happy.

"They're working porn because they need the moneybut the other half of them can't handle it - that people look down on you and label you a whore.

"I've run into a few girls who have it together. But if you don't enjoy what you do, you shouldn't be in it.

"If they [female porn performers] were doing a Warner Brothers movie, everyone would praise them, even if they were doing a sex scene with Brad Pitt sucking on their tits. That's acceptable and people will pat you on your back. But when you do a porno, people will look down on you, even though they're buying or renting your movies. They look on you as nothing but trash. And that's the part that gets to the girls because you get no respect.

"When people find out what you do for a living, people back away from you. They think you're going to f--- their husbands or boyfriends.

"There's this whole look they give you.

"People are more open today than when I was a child.

"I live in Simi Valley, an old fashioned town. People come up to me and recognize me. "You're Tia, you do Playboy. Or, you do porn." But they wouldn't invite me over to their house to eat with me.

"They talk behind your back and whisper about you when you're around. They rent your movies but won't admit to it."

"It's funny," says male performer Kyle Stone. "Porn is a multi-billion dollar industry but no one ever rents the stuff. It must be just one guy in America who buys billions of dollars of porn each year."

Tia lacks friends either inside or outside of the business .She's a loner who prefers her own company or that of her husband and children.

"My friends are always trying to drag me out of th e house, but I like to stay put. I rarely go anywhere."

If a stranger asks her what she does for a living, Tia tells them. "They always look shocked. Then, the first question I get is - Do you really have screw all these guys? Are you really having sex? Yeah.

"I used to go to this tanning place. They asked me what I did for a living. I told them and then they stopped talking to me. Eventually they asked me to go to another tanning place because they didn't want their other customers to see a porn star walking in and out of their place.

"I get black-balled a lot because I'm so honest. From neighbors, shops, etc..

"The public school that my kids attended took me to court. They said I was an unfit mother because I do porn. This happens a lot to porn mothers because they look at you as trash.

"I won the case because the school couldn't prove that I exposed my kids to porn.

"When I first visited the school, they told me - "Our concern is to protect the kids. We don't want them around porn."I told them that my kids are not around porn. I leave my house to do my job just like anybody else. I get in my car and mommy goes to work.

"They look down at you. We're teachers, and we're on the school board and we're sophisticated.

"I told them that my kids have the best clothes I can buy them. They've got all the toys in the world - a computer, and all kinds of crap. I buy them everything from Toys R Us. I spoil them rotten.

"I don't mix porn with my personal life. When I leave the set, I'm a wife and mother.

"I don't care what my neighbors think or what other kids at school think. I'm a good mom.

"I never lie to my kids. I don't want someone coming up with a Hustler magazine and showing my kids. "Here's your mom."

"I don't believe in telling your kids that se [outside of marriage] is wrong. My parents always preached to me that everything I did was wrong. Bleaching my hair was wrong. Wearing makeup was wrong. Trying to look like a woman was wrong.

"It wasn't until I was almost 30 that I realized that sex wasn't wrong. I don't have the guilt anymore.

"I love the way I look. I'm not ashamed of what I do for a living. I chose this career and I enjoy it. I meet a lot of nice people.

"My kids know that I'm a porn star and that I take my clothes off for men. But I don't say, "Sit down and watch my movie." They don't see porn.

"Everybody thinks that because you're in porn, you have orgies in your house and you do drugs and alcohol and let your kids sit there and watch it. And I don't.

"I won my case with the school. They don't harass me. They only ask that when I come on campus, I cover up. But I'd dress that way anyway. They think I'd come as a happy hooker?

"When I sought a regular job, I couldn't find any because everyone blackballed me for working in porn. K-Mart handed me my application back because the guy knew who I was. He said, "I can't hire you." Why? "Because you do porn. Everybody in town knows what you do for a living."

"When I go to guy groceries, everybody is staring and whispering. It's a weird feeling. I rarely get treated rudely. Some people are nice and others give me the cold shoulder.

"I am who I am. I'm happy with my life and these people simply don't understand porn. It's like these women who've never been to a strip show criticizing strippers. You can't condemn something until you've been there.

"Incidentally, you used to be able to make good money in stripping. Now, unless you're a feature dancer, you're lucky to make $50 a night. So a lot of strippers are getting into porn to make more money.

"I don't judge people for what they do for a living, even the girls who use drugs, I don't condemn them. It's their business and I stay out of it."

Tia is a rare porn star who uses her real name.

"I'm not trying to hide what I do from my family. I've sent my movies home to my parents."Tia laughs. "My dad will look at the boxcover and say that I look pretty. But he won't watch the movie. My mother will watch and say "Oh my." I did the Over-40 magazine by lying about my age, and I sent them the magazine with a big layout of me. I send it all home. "This is what they did with my body this day. This is what they did with my body that day.""

Tia's family has long regarded her as its black sheep. They knew about her stripping at the Tropicana at age 18 when legally you had to be 21.

"My parents tell me: "We love you. We don't approve of what you're doing. We wish that you'd do something else with your life, but we're not going to hate you becauseof what you do.

"I call them up and tell them that I'm getting ready to go on the set. And my mom will ask, "What are you going to do?" I'll say: "I'm gonna screw on a car today or I'm going to screw on top of a bar." And my dad will say, "I don't want to hear it." But my mom's always asking what I'm doing."

Tia has over 60 boxcovers amongst her 220 flicks, all done in the eight previous months to February, 1996.

Tia began performing in softcore flicks in 1985. She says she appeared in a few Warner Brothers movies and did commercials for Pepsi, Reeboks, and other companies. Tia started doing videos for the Playboy Channel in 1990.

Then one night in November of 1994, her life forever changed .She walked out of a Hollywood club when out of nowhere someone knifed her over a dozen times - five times in the stomach, four times in the chest. She lost her right kidney, her breasts, half of her stomach, her ovaries and many teeth.

Tia remembers nothing from the attack. She got to White Memorial Hospital "Dead on arrival," Tia says.

She woke up 24 hours after the attack. Police suspect that someone was in the middle of stealing a car when Tia unexpectedly showed up.

"I'm a fighter. For a while I hibernated. I wouldn't go out of my house. I drove my old Camaro and wouldn't buy a new car so as to not attract attention.

"I've pulled out of it and bought my new flashy car. Once in a while I get scared, but usually I'm fine.

"The assailant stole the car but the police don't know who to look for. The person probably feared that I saw him, and therefore he sought to kill me."

After reconstructive surgery which included a DD breast job, Tia looks good. I would've never noticed anything unusual about her appearance unless Tia pointed out her scars to me. She plans laser surgery to get rid of faint scars.Tia says Playboy no longer wanted to use her after her stabbing because she "was damaged goods." So Tia went hardcore.

Money primarily motivates women to enter porn, says Tia and about everybody else in the industry.

"In the '80s, I could make two thousand dollars a week stripping, but the money is no longer there [because of a greater supply of beautiful women ready to strip]. So strippers now do porn because they have to survive. There are a lot of single moms in porn. Neither welfare or stripping can support them. By doing porn they can feed their kids and take care of themselves without a man.

"Some girls do porn to get money for drugs. Others do it for the fame which they can't get any other way. I'm in it for the money, pleasure, fame and the people in the business."

Tia has a fan club and a 900 number, and she appears in sex magazines such as Hustler and Cheri.

Ron Jeremy, John Decker, Crystal Gold and Kimberly Kummings are among her favorite persons to have sex with on camera.

Aside from her work, Tia stays faithful to her husband who doesn't like her career.

"He doesn't want to hear about it. He asks me to come home in a way that doesn't look like I've been screwing all day. I used to put my hair in a ponytail and shower at home. But he couldn't handle that."He won't go on a set with me. He came once but didn't like it. To him, I'm his wife and he doesn't want thoughts of me with other men and women going through his head.

"When I'm on film, I do my job. But when I'm not on film, don't go f--- some guy in a corner. I don't do it with anyone else off camera."

Tia orgasms frequently on camera. She has a vibrator that makes her squirt.
