A nude dancer, Kimberly Jade responded to an ad placed by Jim South's World Modeling and entered porn in September of 1996. She became severely ill with a virus at the beginning of 1997, returning three "inconclusive, indeterminant, abnormal" HIV tests (Dr. George Boros 10-Minute Clinic in Venice) at the same time as John Stagliano and Nena Cherry tested positive.

About the time Jordan McKnight tested positive in April of 1997, Kimberly recorded a negative HIV Eliza test and reentered the industry, working constantly. Over the next six months she appeared in almost 100 videos before slowing her performing pace while still stripping at Bob's Classy Lady.

On May 19, 1998, shortly after chopping her hair off, she received the results of her first PCR DNA test - positive for the HIV virus. Since then she's retested (DNA) several times, and each result has been positive.

On May 30th, she was caught driving with a suspended license. Because she had failed to pay traffic ticket, and owed community service hours, she was thrown in jail for 33 days until Jeffrey Douglas of the Free Speech Coalition obtained her release. Jade remains on house arrest through August 14.

On Monday, July 27, 1998, I interviewed Jade at Rob Spallone's Star World Modeling agency. She was returning home from a doctor's appointment at AIDS Project LA. It was the first time she'd spoken to the media. Several times during our 60-minute talk she broke down in tears. A strong intelligent soul, her sharp blue eyes flashed when emphasizing key points.

We began by discussing her entry into the industry.

Luke: "Did Jim South make you suck his dick?"

Kim: "No. I've heard about that… I've heard that other girls had to do that. I'm a strong personality. Don't f--- with me. If I do something, it's because I want to do it. I'm not going to be coerced or badgered into doing anything.

"I don't know yet where I got HIV but I have every intention of finding out. That interview Sharon Mitchell gave to Mark Kernes of AVN was filled with lies."

From the second paragraph of the 7/98 article: ""She did not work with Marc Wallice, by the way. I think that's what everybody needs to know here," said Miss Sharon Mitchell…"

In truth, as I reported weeks ago, Kimberly had worked with HIV positive Wallice, performing unprotected anal sex towards the end of 1997.

"The article is filled with severe contradictions of things that she said to me," says Jade. "It makes me look like I was promiscuous outside the business. Makes me seem like I had not been doing anything for six months [in porn], is not true. There are many things that still need to be disclosed.

"Sharon Mitchell did hook me up with AIDS Project LA. We're getting all my AIDS tests… "

Luke: "Did Jeffrey Douglas forget to show up for one of your hearings?"

Kim: "Yes he did. He got me back in front of the judge for reconsideration. They get you up at 3AM to make sure you get to court on time. A little after 10AM, they send the public defender in to see me. I say, 'where's my lawyer?' Earlier that week, he'd been in Sacramento.

"We'd talked the week before… The courts forgot about me, and didn't pull me [Kim's case]… They pulled me the following week. I called him Wednesday, June 26. I left him a message reminding him about my court case the next morning. He had been accepting my collect calls and he did help me to some extent… [Then Thursday, 6/27, Douglas forgot to show up for Jade's case.] So [Thursday] I call his office. His secretary says, 'he's about to step into a meeting.' I say, 'he's supposed to be here.' She gets back on line and says, 'just tell them [court] that he's [Douglas] been unavoidably detained, and that he's on his way.

"Now, he had set this all up with the judge… So yes, he forgot about me… And I was hysterical… They housed me [in the mental ward] with heroin addicts and prostitutes. The counselors would talk to me and say, 'you seem pretty normal, what are you doing in here?'

"I never expected to be in jail so long. I was told time and time again [that Kim was about to be released]… By the fourth time Jeffrey Douglas said, 'I've got you approved. They're going to let you out,' they finally did [release Kim].

"I had to show up in two different courts. The woman at Hollywood court sentenced me to 12 days concurrent. But Jeffrey didn't check the paperwork, and it read consecutive. So I wrongly had more time added on to my sentence.

"After reading that article in AVN [7/98]… As far as I'm concerned, Sharon Mitchell's talking out of both sides of her neck. I understand that I am not her highest priority…

"In early 1997, my health care worker told me, after my indeterminant and abnormal HIV test results at the Dr. Boros clinic, to finish taking my antibiotics… They are strong. Wait a week or so, and retest. I went back [April?], and I was negative.

"I was at the Tricia Devereaux meeting [in early February, 1998]… I asked the doctor [Dr. York] whether medications could screw up test results… He said that I'd probably still be indeterminant. At that point, I started to think. 'What does he mean?' Maybe many of us have been misled?

"On May 19th, 1998, I was told that I was HIV positive. I called my boyfriend. We went down to the North Hollywood Clinic [which told Kim that she was pos]. Sharon Mitchell met us there. In this interview with Mark Kernes, she says that "Elizas are f---ing worthless." If that's true, why did she have me take an Eliza test that day?

"At that point, I didn't know much [about HIV]. She had my boyfriend take an Eliza test too. Our Elizas came back negative and so did his DNA.

"PAW helped me with a one month car payment and one month for storage… They claim that they pay $250 an hour for Jeffrey Douglas [legal work]. I was thankful for their help. Jeffrey is nice, but they should get some of their money back…but the fact is, he forgot about my court date… He allowed 12 days added on to my sentence. Everybody seems to have their own motives.

"Phil Berman told me that they only had $1800 in their bank account, and that was for people in serious emergencies… Ok, I don't know if they are under any obligation to help me. I'm grateful for what they did give. That money is there for people to take tests so they can continue to work. As I can't work, f--- me.

"In all my time in porn, I've never read much about myself. I didn't want to take the chance of reading something bad. And when I read that [7/98 AVN], and remembered the things she [Sharon Mitchell] had said to me, it was two-faced.

"She led me to believe that she really wanted to help me, and that she had no ill intentions. She couldn't tell me, but she could tell Mark Kernes that I had come up positive in the last six months. She can tell that off of one Western Blot [test] and one DNA [test]? When we were sitting in the office, she said that she couldn't tell me how long I had had it.

"I haven't started my medications yet. I'm feeling good.

"I wasn't promiscuous. I have not done IV drugs. I did not do escort work. The first guy I dated since I entered this business, was Scott Stiles, who's since left the business. The boyfriend I met in between is negative. And so is my most recent boyfriend Keith.

"Sharon explained to me that they had spent a couple of thousand dollars on blood work for Keith and me. For two DNAs and two Elisas?

"I'm still frustrated. I haven't been able to let it all soak in…"

Rob bursts into the room, talking on his mobile phone. "The girl's negative… She's freaking. I want to give her the good lawyer. I want to give her Jake. Let him sue the pants of them. I got Luke right here.

"That girl that was positive at Sharon Mitchell's office? Kristin. She's come up negative three times on the Western Blot and once on the PCR. And Sharon Mitchell told everybody, including on TV, that Kristin's positive."

I talk to someone who confirms the above information.

AIM faxed out information about ten days ago that Matt Zane's girlfriend Kristin had tested positive. Since then I've received vehement reports that she is negative. The controversy again calls into question the competency of the PAW/AIM clinic at Jim South's office.

Kim: "I've gained weight since all I can do is sit at home. It's really tough. I wouldn't wish this on anybody…" (She breaks into tears.) I'm scared. I can't work [because of house arrest]. I have bills. The negativity of it all…They all [at PAW] don't get along with each other… So and so doesn't get along with so and so at the Free Speech Coalition… These are supposed to be the people protecting adult welfare and they don't even get along in their own realm?

"Rob Spallone has been there for me more than anyone else. And the people at Fat Dog. Rob and his mom visited me in jail. And Matt Jade. I'm still in shock. My family is supportive, but upset. At first they thought I was like a freshly cut rose that was going to wilt right away. I have a young daughter who does not know… I have no intentions of telling her now.

"I haven't had a chance yet to talk to the other girls like Brooke Ashley…

"I had unprotected anal sex with Mark in San Francisco [late 1997]. A Rosebud production. That's all they do. I'm not ready to throw out a bunch of accusations at Marc. I don't know.

"I've smoked pot and done a few lines [of cocaine] but never any needles. Escort work? Not really. I've done bachelor parties, but no sex for money.

"I have mixed feelings about this industry. Many people are great. It can be brutal. I've seen what it does to young girls. The industry chews them up and spits them out. Some girls do well and succeed… It depends on how each individual handles it.

"I was born and raised in Southern California. I used to swim competitively. I got good grades at school. I did well at several day jobs, including waste hauling. I was commercial sales manager and recycling coordinator. I'm going to take a course in this at UCLA in September. I'm lucky that I'm bright. I've just made some stupid mistakes along the way. We all do. I just had to suffer more for mine.

"I don't know if I even regret coming into this business, even if this is where I got it [HIV] from. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a purpose. I don't know the reasons for why I got this. Perhaps it's God's way of saying wake up. It's time for you to move in another direction."

Jade lists her two best movies as Poke A Hot Ass 2 and Lucretia McEvil. "I really enjoyed doing Kimberly Jade Erotic in LA for Fat Dog, which stemmed from the first Erotica LA show. It's a shame that ran into copyright problems with the Erotica LA show. There was a blow job scene shot on the floor of the convention of Candy Apples with John West. They had to reedit the whole movie [to remove it after insistence by the Erotica LA organizers]."

Pat Riley comments:

>"Sharon explained to me that they had spent a couple of thousand dollars >on blood work for Keith and me. For two DNAs and two Elisas?

Hmmm. Does seem strange.

1) Loading the test cost with an overhead charge for running PAW/AIM?

Nah. That would require a sophistication well beyond these people's capabilities.

2) The lab (Tricia Devereaux drooler Dr. York?) is getting some big bucks for "advice".

3) Sharon is crying poverty to forestall further demands on the PAW purse.

4) Kimberly is lying.

BTW the Elisa test (i.e. the actual physical kit) costs about $6-8 per person/test but you have to do a number of people at a time (32 or something like that). The Rapid test does one person at a time and costs $8-10 for the physical packet from the mfg. I don't know how much the DNA tests cost [$64] but didn't Luke post that Rob Spallone had an arrangement for about $80 including the service portion?

> The controversy again calls into question the>competency of the PAW/AIM clinic at Jim South's office.

Aw gee, another screw up. Why am I not surprised. Well, let's have the chorus of "Luke F-rd must be lying" from the usual people--it's about the only wiggle they have left.
