Tuesday afternoon 8/22/00 I talked to porn star Shay Sights, a new contract girl with Bobby Rinaldi's Wildlife Video.

Shay: "I just show my first big feature for them. And I did my first threesome with two guys. And it is called "Summer of Shay." I've seen the art work. It looks great. And the movie should be out in September."

Luke: "When did you get into the industry?"

Shay: "I've been dancing since 1992. I've been doing movies for 18-month. I'm from Canada and I was featuring up in Canada. And I kept bumping into Dyanna Lauren. And she gave me her number and took me into Vivid and World Modeling and the rest is history."

Luke: "How was your experience with World Modeling?"

Shay: "Ahhh, hmmm.... I'm not going to say anything on that end. I tend to work without other agents now. I find that I work hardest for myself. Because there aren't 300 of me. But if my pictures are in someone's book and someone calls and I get a job through one of the agents, I will always pay commission. And I am very honest. I just don't pay commission for jobs that I get.

"Are you a close friend of Jim South?"

Luke: "No. But because he's the most powerful agent, I ask about him."

Shay: "He is. And because he has so many people, it's really tough to keep a lot of people busy. The only way to get a lot of work with World Modeling is to sit in the office all day and I have a lot of stuff to do with my website...www.shaysights.com.

"Once you start shooting a lot, people start calling you, through word of mouth. Because all the photographers and directors, if you put out a good scene, you get referrals.

"I've done about 35 XXX videos and I do a lot of fetish stuff too. For some reason, they really like me in the bondage industry. And lots of spanking..."

Luke: "When did you get your breast job?"

Shay: "Five years ago. It really hurt."

Luke: "Are you glad you got the implants?"

Shay: "Yeah. I feature dance and it definitely helps... I was a 36c, and now a 38DD. I was busty but it was more to share the shape. I wanted to go for that perky look."

Luke: "How has your view of men changed from working in the sex industry?"

Shay: "I don't know. I seem to be pretty good at separating sex from relationships. I'm a romantic at heart. My relationships veer more towards romance and my work veers more towards hard sex."

Luke: "I see lots of photos of dogs on your site."

Shay: "I have two dogs now. Dyanna Lauren had me adopt another chihuaha."

Luke: "How did the reality of the video business compare to how you thought it'd be like?"

Shay: "I don't think I had any expectations. I was nervous. But it's been everything I wanted it to be. And I've had a great time so far. I have't had any bad experiences yet. But I've been pretty happy and I think I make a lot of people happy. I hope I do.

"I think this business has a lot of people who try to take advantage, but as long as you can recognize that, you're going to be ok. And if you can't do that, they're are a lot of people who are willing to manage you.

"It's real easy to let people push you around. There are certain days when you feel, I can't shoot that day. And you let people push you into it. I haven't made any huge mistakes... I always stick to my rate... I haven't gone for the old 'let's see how good you are before I hire you.' I've heard a lot of sad stories."

Luke: "How did your family react?"

Shay: "On one side they are supportive. They're not ecstatic. But now that I've been doing it long enough they see that I invest my money and that I am buying a house... And the other side is a little disappointed... But you've got to do what makes you happy in life."

Luke: "Does working in this industry make you happy?"

Shay: "It does. I am my own boss. I go to shoots and come home and I can't believe I got paid. I don't work with anyone I am not comfortable working with. I insist on condoms. Except with Miles Long, the first person I did guy-girl with. He's my DJ on the road."

BigDoggie.net reports: She's apparently available through Nici's new endeavor, NYC-fantasies. She listed on the NY-Exotics website. Just saw an extremely nasty photo layout in "the best of Fox" magazine... definitely hot!

I chat by phone Tuesday evening, 3/18/03, with porn star Shay Sights.

Luke: "Tell me about your preparations for your new production company."

SHAY: "Renee [LaRue] and I are taking it slowly. We're doing the paperwork, setting up the bank accounts, talking to lawyers and accountants."

Luke: "What drove you to set up this new company?"

SHAY: "It was a few different reasons. I used to help [Shay's ex-boyfriend] Nick [Manning] run his company. I had the production and directing knowledge. We want to do high-budget feature films with a message."

Luke: "When did you enter the porn industry?"

SHAY: "I shot my first movie about four years ago up in Canada. I ran into Dyanna Lauren several times. We were both featuring at different clubs. She'd started directing for Vivid. I followed her lead. She directed me in her first movie for Vivid.

"My [now ex-]husband [Miles Long] and I got into the industry together. For a while, I only worked with him and with girls. He does camera work and teching on the sets of Jill Kelly, Michael Ninn. We're close friends. Nick, Miles and I used to go out together. Some people are better as friends."

Luke: "How did you meet Nick Manning?"

SHAY: "On a set for Playboy about two years ago. We spent two long days together and got along well. We moved in together a few months later. Nick is six years older."

Luke: "When did
things start going wrong in your relationship wtih Nick?"

SHAY: "I wouldn't say going wrong. In any relationship where you are having an open relationship and sex with other people, there are fine lines. When you care about somebody, it is tough. There were blow-ups here and there as there is in every relationship. Nick and I tried to work together and live together. We had tough times and great times. There wasn't anything horrendous that happened."

Luke: "Who was the driving force behind the break-up?"

SHAY: "It was a mutual decision. We're still close friends but we see some things differently."

Luke: "Do you think it's possible to maintain a relationship in this industry? I don't know anyone who's done it."

SHAY: "It takes two open-minded unconditional people. With men, you've got a lot of ego and when you're dealing with women, you've got a lot of emotion. That's a tough combination. It's hard to find a woman who's emotionally stable, open and secure and it's hard to find a man who doesn't let his ego get in the way. But it's possible to do it. Renee LaRue and her husband have been together for 14-years. Kim Chambers and Scott Styles. Chennin Blanc and Scott Collins.

"Could you date someone in this industry?"

Luke: "No, no, no."

SHAY: "It's tough to meet other people as well. You see girls who meet someone, quit the industry for a couple of years, and then come back. Quit for a couple of years and then come back. It's a short career. So after you've spent time digging your nails in, do you really want to take a couple of years off?"

Luke: "Have you ever been close to quitting the industry?"

SHAY: "I thought about it when I met Nick. I talked to him about it. It was one of those things where either you completely quit or you be completely ok with everything. We tried to do that."

Luke: "What books have you been reading?"

SHAY: "I'm studying The Course in Miracles. I'm reading Dark Side of the Light Chasers by Debbie Ford. It's about getting touch with everything around you instead of judging people. I listen to CDs in the car all the time. Wayne Dyer. Deepok Chopra. I've got zillions of book that I haven't touched yet. I just like to have them around me."

Luke: "Isn't it incongruous to speak of spirituality in this unspiritual industry?"

SHAY: "If it doesn't exist, don't you think it should exist? I don't study organized religion but I know a bit about Jesus and he definitely went into the brothels and brought light to places nobody had ever thought of. Doesn't it makes sense that I was put here for a reason? All it takes is one match to bring light to darkness."

Luke: "Everything we do comes with a price. What price have you paid for doing this industry?"

SHAY: "I know what you're getting at. I choose to look at it more as being confronted with life lessons. Something I've definitely been confronted with is being alone."

Luke: "Because the industry is socially isolating?"

SHAY: "No. I would because it is tough to have relationships. It's tough with people in the industry but it is very difficult with people outside of the industry. If you would've told me ten years ago that I would be doing porno, I'd have been disgusted.
Then, once you get in, it seems so normal and you get in touch with your sexuality. But it is difficult to show that to somebody outside the industry.

"I have an extensive life outside the industry. I do a lot of healing work. I take classes. The types of people I'm surrounded by in the types of classes I take don't care what I do."

Luke: "When did you discover that you had the ability to heal?"

SHAY: "Nick probably showed me that. When I met him, he was always sick and angry. I put my hands on him and give him energy. I didn't know what I was doing exactly but it made me realize that I had a gift I could use to heal people. When I started taking classes in reiki (reiki.com, energy work), I intuitively knew the hand positions.

"A close friend of mine does a new moon ceremony every month. We have a large group of women in Hollywood and Beverly Hills who come to that. I work on women at that and on my friends and family.

"I will be doing my first sex scene with Nick [since the breakup] for Michael Ninn."

Shay has the website www.shaysights.com. "My ex-husband runs it. I answer all my own emails. It's amazing how happy you can make people."

Luke: "How does your family feel about you working in the adult industry?"

SHAY: "I'm an only child. My father is a successful engineer. It took him a long time to realize that I managed my money well and that I had a good head on my shoulders. They were upset in the beginning. My Mom is supportive. I've got a lot of her spiritual outlooks and my Dad's business sense."

Luke: "What do you love and what do you hate about this industry?"

SHAY: "I never use the word hate. What I love about the industry is the opportunity to make people happy. The lifestyle I'm able to lead and still be in a state of joy most of the time.

"I don't like what the industry does to people who don't want to be here.

"You can't heal from a place of sympathy. You have to be neutral. I was just reading this book, Power vs Force."
