Melissa Lauren Interview

I've been reading the wit and wisdom of Melissa Lauren on industry chatboards and I've been hearing about her extreme scenes. So I sent her an email and asked her for an interview.

She calls me back Thursday evening after a hard day's work.

When you were a little girl in France, what did you want to be when you grew up?

"I wanted to be a pilot in the Air Force. I wanted to be a doctor. I wasn't into studying, so I went to a cooking school. I studied there for three years. I worked as a cook. Then I started in porn."

How did you get into porn?

"I was reading a newspaper and I was looking at the job offers. There was an advertisement for a French director (Jean B. Root). I visited his Web site. I called him. I did my first scene six days later. It was June 2003.

"I've done about 100 scenes, most of them in America. I did about ten Internet scenes. About 30 movies in Europe."

How would you compare the industry in America to the one in Europe?

"It's pretty much the same. Europeans go to America to shoot and Americans go to Europe to shoot."

What did your family expect of you?

"They expected me to study and be a lawyer or a doctor. They're ok with what I am doing now."

How did you tell them?

"They found out from somebody else. I didn't know how to tell my parents -- oh, I'm a porn girl now. I started in June. I was interviewed for a TV show in France. They filmed my second scene. It was my first DP (double penetration). It was on TV in September. My father saw that and he called me right away.

"He said, 'I saw you somewhere on TV. What were you doing there?' It was right in the DP. I was like, oh, yeah. At first, they were really scared. They thought I'd be doing drugs and being abused. They had a bad vision of this industry. Then I told them I was happy with what I was doing. I was not doing drugs. I was just like normal. They were ok with that and they told me to go for it."

How do you like Los Angeles?

"I like Los Angeles. The weather is nice. The work is great. I travel back and forth from France to America."

What do you love and what do you hate about the industry?

"I hate the stupid people who are irresponsible and f--- with strangers without condoms, without tests. I hate all the STDs. I hate that most of the girls are f------ drug addicts. I started in porn because I love sex. I wanted to try new things that I didn't do in my private life before. I love that I get to travel and meet new people."

What was it like the first time you did double penetration?

"It was scary. I was in France and one of the two guys was huge. I didn't know if I could take it. But everything went well. The guys were really nice."

So you haven't had any bad experiences?

"I've had bad experiences when some directors tried to abuse the girls. They would try to force you to do things that you don't want to do. That was just when I started. Now I am clear -- I don't do this. I don't do that. I'm not ok with this. I take my stuff and I leave. You have to have a strong personality."

Did this happen in Europe?

"Yes. I've never had any problems here."

What do you want to get out of your time in the industry?

"A lot of sex. I'm not looking for anything special. I don't care about being a huge porn star. I just want to have fun and try everything I can try."

What do you do when you are not doing porn?

"I like to hang out, go to movies, go shopping, go to the beach. I work out, so I go to the gym. I have a regular life outside of the set."

What do you want to do with your life once you leave the industry?

"I want to get married and have kids. I want to open a restaurant."

Do you ever think about how being a porn star will affect you in the future?

"I thought about that a lot before I started and I just don't care what people think. I'm just living for myself. I don't care about these people who will say -- oh, you're a whore. I don't care because I am having fun."

Have you had a lot of people who have given you a hard time about your work in porn?

"No. My stepmother did. When I was in France, people recognize me in the streets sometimes because I was on TV shows and stuff. Usually it was nice comments. I've never had anyone come to me and say -- 'Oh, you're a f------ whore. I have no respect for you.' I've never been in a situation like that."

You've got a reputation for doing some extreme stuff on camera.

She laughs. "I do. I'm doing what I like. I like rough sex. I like crazy stuff like double anal. I like to perform in films I'd like to watch. I watch a lot of porn. I'm always trying to give my best and do what I think is going to turn on people."

How do you feel after having done double anal?

"First, I was scared. I didn't think I could do it. In June, I was in Europe shooting for Platinum X Pictures. It was a two-girl six-guy scene. I just say to the guys -- now, let's do double anal. It went really well, really easy.

"Some people say it is dangerous because you have more chances to transmit HIV and STDs. I don't think it is more dangerous than doing a cream pie [where multiple men ejaculate inside a woman]."

Have you ever gotten injured from doing porn?

"Yeah. Last March, I got a really serious infection. My pussy was really sore, really bad. It was a pelvic inflammatory disease. I went to the hospital in Los Angeles. They had to send me back to France to go to surgery. I was freaking out. I thought I could never do porn again. The doctor told me that when you do ass-to-pussy, or other girls' pussy to your pussy... I don't do that anymore now. They told me they are not sure that I can have kids or get pregnant.

"I think most of the girls are not aware of what they risk by doing that. It is very bad.

"Aside from that, I've had chlamydia two times."

How have you changed from working in this industry?

"I'm totally different. My personality has stayed the same, but sexually I've changed a lot. When I started, I wasn't confident about my body. I didn't want people to see me naked, even if it was just my boyfriend. I was shy. I learned how to suck cocks from movies."

Any other ways you have changed aside from sexual things?

"No."

On Set With Melissa Lauren 11/8/04

Lee, Dick Lee, Dick Melissa Lauren Melissa Lauren Melissa Lauren Melissa Lauren Melissa Lauren Melissa Lauren Bono, Melissa Bono, Melissa Bono, Melissa Melissa Lauren Melissa, Lee Bono, Melissa Melissa Lauren Melissa Bono, Melissa Bono, Melissa Bono, Melissa, Dick Melissa, Bono Melissa, Bono Lee, Melissa, Bono Lee, Melissa, Bono

When I arrive on set at 9:45am, I join Melissa and a group of guys in the backyard of Dick in Woodland Hills.

Melissa says it changes the dynamics of a relationship once a director sleeps with his talent. It makes the talent less likely to do what he says. Dick says he's never slept with a porn girl. Aside from that blowjoy a few years back.

About 18-months later, the girl called him. She wanted him to tell the LA Sheriff that her husband knew she was working in porn. Why? Her mother-in-law had hired an investigator. They couldn't find the gun. What gun? The gun he used to kill himself.

Has Melissa, born in 1980, ever heard of the pop group Air Supply? No.

Bono, a reviewer on ADT who flew in from Arizona to be on the set, says his parents bought him the LP Lost in Love when he was eleven. He asked them if Air Supply would ever be as big as the Beatles.

I recite lyrics from Air Supply's song, Making Love Out of Nothing At All.

John Knowles, co-owner of NJ Films with his buddy Nelson, says "making love is something my girlfriend does while I'm f---ing her."

I ask John if his biker friends would throw him out of their clique if they knew he was making porno. "No way," says John. "They all have their own meth labs. I don't have a meth lab. I just make porno."

John and Nelson had a song in the Rod Lurie movie Deterrence (1999). They also had a deal with an independent record label. Then there came a day when their music died, and they concentrated on making porn.

John is the financial guy behind NJ Films while Nelson, who used to shoot stills for Playboy.com, is the creative guy. Nelson says he keeps an eye on the books but he won't let John touch the camera.

John's funniest moments in porn:

* Getting an offer of a BJ from the trannie Vanity

* Working with a girl who'd had a stroke and was left with little sense of balance. She fell over during a scene.

John bought Alex De Renzy's last three features after his death (from Alex's widow).

John says Alex's shooting style influenced Dick, who watched his movies and copied him. Alex said to find the girl's face and hole and keep the camera on both.

Dick outlines the scene scenario to Bono, Melissa and Lee. Melissa plays Bono's wife. He wants her to get harmonica lessons from Lee, who appears to be blind. She plays the harmonica while Lee takes it to her.

Dick tells Bono after the first take -- "you are on your way to stardom. Just do one little thing for me -- don't look in the camera."

I ask Melissa what language she likes to talk dirty in while making love. She says English. French was too elevated a language. It would be gross. But English is perfect for talking s---.

Melissa Lauren Shooting For Kahn Tusion

Melissa writes: "I've been shooting some stuff for Khan Tusion. I've always been into Khan's stuff. so when I met him and he asked me to shoot a series for him, telling me 'I want you to let everybody know what's in your head,' it was great for me. I didn't want to disappoint him...and I didn't. The website www.hellfiresex.com will be on line in 2-3 weeks.... Any person offended by S-M and bondage content, anal stretching, tears and screams, milk enemas, and hard f--king, should not watch..."

I emailed Melissa some questions and she wrote back:

* Why are you choosing to do this?

Because I've always been into bondage, SM, and hard sex. I wanted to give people my vision of it mixed together.

* How do you decide what your limits are?

My limits are the talent's limits. If they want me to do something that is considered "obscene," I'll do it anyway. Then the editor chooses to leave it in or not. The only thing is I will not leave permanent marks to anyone.

* Isn't this type of content all about humiliating the girls and isn't that bad?

That's what people don't get. For me, it's not about humiliation. It's about trust and seeing how far I can push them... They have to trust me to let me tie them up, knowing what's gonna happen. I find it amazing and erotic, to see how far they re willing to go for me. They discover they're able to do things they didn't think about before. I know it sounds weird but I'm not drunk.

Kelly Wells recently said in an interview, that after the scene she did for me, she wanted to do more SM scenes. Same for Alektra. She cried, it was hard, but she never stopped me, and now she posts on the internet that she loved it!

* How are you able to handle so much more pain during sex than the average woman and the average porn star?

I just love it. I love the feeling of the whip/flogger/paddle. If you haven't experienced it, you won't understand it.

Melissa Lauren's Bad Meatholes Experience

She replies to me:

I never did Meatholes. Well, let's say I did one but off-camera. I wouldn't use the word horrible. Intense and interesting. I learned a lot about myself afterwards, like I shouldn't drink so much.
