Power Outage Disrupts My Interview With October Penthouse Pet Melissa Jacobs

I call her at 1pm PST, 9/10/05

She says that as a kid she wanted to become a tightrope walker. "For a long time, I wanted to do something in the medical field like nursing. I ended up falling into accounting [she plans to graduate with her AA in a year].

"I bet if you asked somebody I went to highschool with about what I'm doing now, they wouldn't be surprised. I was that wild girl. I've always been a free spirit and all about having fun. I was in theatre and anything that got me out there in front of the public eye.

"I submitted my photos to Penthouse.com. Stacy [Valentine], who's in charge of model recruitment for Penthouse, contacted me and had me set up for a test shoot. They brought me out to LA. It turned out so they brought me back for a possible Pet of the Month spot.

"It's put a lot more travel into my life. I've seen places that I've never gone to before. I'm getting recognized in places... The other day I was in the gas station and he knew I looked familiar but he couldn't exactly say where. I laughed because I knew.

"It's funny how uptight some people can be. They don't want to let you know that they know. I'm an exhibitionist. I'm proud of my body. I'm not embarrassed in the least and so I wouldn't expect people to be embarrassed if they look at my photos.

"Accounting and modeling is two separate worlds. It hasn't affected [her accounting work] too much. My boss knows what I'm doing. She was really excited when I told her. I wasn't expecting that. I've been blessed with having everyone being really supportive.

"It's possible that it could hurt me down the road, but I'm willing to take the chance because there are a million accounting jobs out there. There's going to be somebody who wants me to work for them and understand that just because I've posed nude doesn't mean I'm not intelligent.

"My love life? I'd think it'd probably make me a pretty popular person.

"It's common for people to think that they understand me from reading my bio in the magazine and looking at the pictures. I realize that and I'm more than willing to explain myself but I can't see it hurting me.

"I'm single. I'm having fun. I'm young. I'm not looking to pick one particular man to spend my life with.

"My mom was not surprised at all [when Melissa posed for Penthouse] because I was doing promotions around the area [Melissa lives in Wisconsin] with radio stations. I told her what my goals were with Penthouse. She knew even before I submitted my photos. She stood behind me 100%. I've got two younger sisters. They think I'm the coolest thing. We're not as conservative as some families are. I can't say that they've seen inside the magazine. I sent them copies of my headshots. My mom called me up as soon as the issue came out and she congratulated me."

Power around Los Angeles goes out at 1:08pm and stops my interview.
