Holly Moore Interview
2002-12-13 07:32:02
Holly Moore writes: Hi! I finally found your site tonight. I wish I'd managed to find it sooner! There was quite a bit of helpful information for me in the (enter porn) section. I wish I'd read it before I did anything. Anyway, people tell me they have differing opinions as to what makes someone a porn star. Some have told me that once you star in a movie, you are a porn star, no matter what position you hold in the film.(even when girl number 4). Others say you have to be on the box cover and it has to say "featuring" or "starring". Who knows?

I am very new to the industry. I shot four movies with Coyote Black Studios [in the past month]. http://www.wingkongexchange.com/talentfiles/hollymoore.htm

I have also worked with John Higgens doing an amateur BJ internet scene for his site: Eye Cum I've shot with Nick Millilo who produces a catalog of sexy videos . The catalog is called Promotions USA and has tons of amateur type videos in it. I also did a video for him which is entitled Oral Auditions (probably volume 2). I've shot with Harmony Concepts and Dreamtank as well.

There is also plenty more work to be done when I return to LA from my little town of Kentucky next month after the adult expo. I would love to know how long I need to be in the business to qualify as a bona fide porn star.

I phone Holly in Kentucky Wednesday evening 12/11/02.

Luke: "I didn't know there was a porn industry in Kentucky?"

Holly: "No. I just live here. I travel to do my porn movies and stuff. There are no producers in Kentucky at all. Anybody knows that."

Luke: "How did you get into this industry?"

Holly: "It's really weird. I work as an escort. I was going to go to Chicago and I posted on the Bigdoggie.net board that I was coming to Chicago. Somebody contacted me and said they were going to be shooting in Chicago and they wanted to know if I was interested in doing adult movies. I emailed back and asked them for an example of some stuff they've done. They gave me a website avn.com. I asked people who watched porn and none had heard of AVN [Adult Video News, porn's trade magazine]. I couldn't tell anything from the website. It had something to do with an awards show. So I deleted the email and didn't respond.

"But I got to wondering what it would be like to be a porn star. There's a website called adultstaffing.com. I found some ads for video performers and magazine models. I started sending my picture in to people thinking that nobody would be interested at all. I wasn't ignored. Overnight everything happened. My email box was flooded and my phone was ringing off the hook and I've been working ever since.

"I did my first video for Coyote Black Studios in Washington D.C.. We did a scene where I play a school girl jogging in the park. I get kidnapped and taken to this warehouse where horrible things happen to me. It's all acting."

Luke: "Was it like simulated rape?"

Holly: "Not really. I got kidnapped and taken back to this warehouse by this evil man whose hands are everywhere. It was perfectly ok for me to enjoy it. At first, I pretend this is terrible and I don't do things like that because I'm a college girl and I don't have a lot of experience. Then I'm allowed to really get into it and stop the pouting act and the sniffling.

"I grew up in Chicago."

Luke: "How did you get into the escort work?"

Holly: "I was in college."

Luke: "And you majored in escorting?"

Holly: "No, I didn't major in escorting. They don't teach that at school. I majored in sociology."

Luke: "That's sort of like escorting, right?"

Holly: "No. I may use some of my knowledge of sociology for conversation purposes. Sociology is the study of groups and social problems. We did study porn for one of my classes. It was a presentation about how porn was bad for women. That it gave false images of what women look like and how they should behave. But they used Max Hardcore films as the extreme example."

Luke: "Do you think Max Hardcore films are a good model for how men and women should interact?"

Holly: "No. I don't think that's a good model for what porn is because I've never shot anything that was Max Hardcore-style.

"So I needed money. I had a rich boyfriend and he refused to help me financially. I didn't even ask him but he flat out told me he wasn't going to help me. I had a work-study on campus. If you've been to college, you know it doesn't pay much. Instead of going to Myrtle Beach or somewhere exciting, I spent my entire Spring Break looking for a job. I didn't get anything that would coincide with my class schedule. I had been a [nude] dancer but my boyfriend had a problem with the dancing, so I had to quit. I had to do something so I thought if I did escorting, he wouldn't find out about it.

"I thought I'd just do it for two weeks to save up some money and get ahead a little bit and maybe I will have a regular job at the end of the two weeks. I went to the phone book and I picked out an agency name and I called them up and I started working for them."

Luke: "What was it like the first time?"

Holly: "Oh God. The first time I went in, two years ago, I was all dressed-up because I had read that escorts really dress up and look nice. I went in the guy's hotel room and I don't know if they told him it was my first time or not, but I was so nervous, I was shaking. So he brings out a joint and asks if I want to smoke it. I don't take drugs but I was so nervous that I did it. Then I felt relaxed. He took off his clothes. I took off my clothes. And then I just followed his cue. Whatever he wanted to do, I did it. Lucky for me, he was pretty quick. I could leave after that. He didn't want me to stay the full hour.

"I got in my car and I drove home. And I cried all the way home. The whole way home I cried I felt like such crap. But after that, I was ok. I kept working."

Luke: "You didn't quit after two weeks and take a regular job?"

Holly: "No. I couldn't. The money was too good."

Luke: "Did they give you work-study credits for your escorting?"

Holly laughs: "No."

Luke: "Did you drop out of college?"

Holly: "I did this year. I was a Junior and on the Dean's List. My parents are upset but I've been doing so much traveling [for pleasure, escorting and porn purposes] that I couldn't stay in school. It was either make money or stay in school and don't make money. "

Luke: "Did your boyfriend ever find out?"

Holly: "Yes he did. He got the website of the agency and saw my picture on it. Even though they didn't show my face, he recognized my body. I was so busted and he was so mad."

Luke: "Why can't men be more understanding of these things?"

Holly: "I could explain it to you but we would have to go into evolutionary psychology, which is really boring."

Luke: "Did he give you a choice of quitting?"

Holly: "No, he just broke up with me. If I did quit, he was totally pissed off that I had been with all these men and they were probably better than him. They were. He was really hurt so he broke up with me and I haven't had a boyfriend since."

Luke: "When do you think you will go back to college?"

Holly: "I think I'll be blazing a trail [through porn] for about eight months. Then in the fall, things will probably quiet down. I'm new right now so I'm going to be popular now and then things are just going to fizzle out."

Luke: "Did you get breast implants?"

Holly: "I've had those for a while. I got them before college. I may get some other kind of surgery in the future... I love my new breasts. I haven't had any problems with mine because I went to a good doctor. I've heard about these women having all these problems but I had saline implants. They are big but in proportion with the rest of my body. Most people don't even know they are implants unless I tell them that they are. They look natural and you can barely see a scar.

"My clothes fit me nicely. Any dress I try on usually fits. Guys like it. Guys like big boobs, don't they?"

Luke: "I think so."

Holly: "I'm beginning to think so too. I fill out a bikini very nicely."

Luke: "Has your attitude towards men from your work in the sex industry?"

Holly: "Yes. It's hard for me to consider having a relationship with a man because I think that he's mainly interested in just the sex. I don't feel like I could trust a man in a relationship. Let's say one day I'm not in the mood to have sex. I'll probably think that he's going to go out and get it somewhere else. Because I've been on the other side. I've seen a lot of married men who aren't interested in thier wives anymore. There are all kinds of reasons they come and see me.

"In a positive way, it's effected my sexuality. I'm less inhibited and more open to trying new things. I have a more open mind about masturbating and using toys and talking dirty than a lot of regular women."

Luke: "Would you like your daughter to work as an escort?"

Holly: "Umm, that's a good question. I would probably rather that she didn't. Any mother would feel that way. If she chose to do that, it wouldn't matter to me."

Luke: "Do your parents know about your video work?"

Holly: "No."

Luke: "I hope your Dad doesn't rent a video one day..."

Holly: "I hope not either. I hope he doesn't look at any porn magazines either. I don't think he does because my Mom won't let him. She's pretty nosey and it would be pretty hard for him to hide something like that. If they ever confronted me, I'd say, That's me. I have brothers. I'm more worried about my brothers seeing me than my parents. Nobody knows. I certainly don't use the family name either. Holly Moore is a stage name.

"As long as there's work for me [in porn], I want to do it. I don't think I'm ever going to be famous. It's hard to tell if I am ever going to be made a big name in the industry and have sculptures of my pussy sold in sex shops."

Luke: "Would you like that?"

Holly: "Sure. That would be great because I think mine is really pretty. I guess I'll work at it as long as the business wants me and I'm having fun at it. As soon as the business stops being fun, and any kind of drama pops up, I don't want to do it anymore. With escorting, I've had a few bad experiences. I get the usual stalkers and crazy people I have to deal with. I've had people threaten to tell the university what I was doing but they didn't do it.

"I had a problem recently with a guy [Michael Walsh from Gym Models] who was trying to be a manager. He found out that some studio wanted to shoot me and they got my picture from Coyote Black Studios. He was upset that they didn't want to go through him to get to shoot with me. He was really abusive to me on the phone. When I was in LA, he drove me around everywhere I needed to go. He did get me a good bondage shoot with Harmony Concepts. We had an actual script and we had to act.

"But his personality had a lot to be desired. If we were driving in the car and someone cut him off on the 405, he'd start screaming out the window. Every other word out of his mouth would be the F-word. He almost cussed out a waitress at Norms. That's really embarrassing to me because I like guys who are respectful to waitresses.

"There was one guy who wants to shoot with me but I don't want to shoot with him, but he calls me all the time because he wants to go out. I shouldn't say his name. Things might change in the future and I might decide to go ahead and shoot with him."

Luke: "Could you see marrying one of your escorting clients?"

Holly without hesitation: "No. Absolutely not. I've had some wonderful clients who've become good friends but I have no desire to get married."

Luke: "Did you like the movie Pretty Woman?"

Holly: "Yes. I watch it a lot. I like Julia Roberts. I like the story. But I don't fantasize about that happening to me because I'm a very independent person and I'm not waiting around for some rich guy to come rescue me. I'm trying to get rich myself. That's a good question."

Luke: "I'm always amazed at the number of regular women who love that movie."

Holly: "I think it does glamorize prostitution. Julia Roberts is very pretty. If she was really a streetwalker, she would probably be very successful. She probably wouldn't be on the street very long. I saw a streetwalker once and she was extremely unattractive and extremely unhealthy looking. She had the skinniest legs I've ever seen. A lot of movies glamorize prostitution. The movie Beverly Hills Bordello really glamorizes it."

Luke: "What movie best describes the world of prostitution?"

Holly: "I haven't seen one that describes it as it is."

Holly Moore phones me 12/13/02 while driving through a cold Kentucky rain: "I was thinking about the questions you asked me the other day. And I noticed you didn't ask me if I had any good experiences with being an escort or doing movies?

"I've had a lot. Some of my clients have been good friends. They treat me better than any boyfriend has in my entire life. I've had eight marriage proposals. I turned them all down because I don't want to get married. I had a tonsilectomy last March and my parents couldn't come stay with me. My mom is a college professor. She had school. One of my clients stayed with me at my house while I recovered. He made my pharmacy runs and went to the grocery store for me. He even fed me one day.

"It hasn't been all bad and I'm not all jaded and everything."

Duc laughs: "You know the media. It always like to sensationalize."

Holly: "The media tends to be powerful. If you're reporting, you can influence your audience with the emphasis of certain words, certain facial expressions. You can ask certain questions to make someone appear one way or another. You can tick them off to make them seem like jerks. I've seen it happen."

Luke: "What's good about being less inhibited?"

Holly: "I feel like society raises men and women in different ways. Women are socialized with that madonna/whore complex. They're supposed to grow up to be madonnas. They're sweet and don't talk much. They don't get angry. They don't express their sexuality. If they talk about sex, it's only with their husband. I don't think that's right. I don't think women should be raised to be trashy whores either. I think they should be raised to be who they are and to be comfortable with themselves and their bodies."

Luke: "Does anyone ever call you a whore and how do you feel about that word?"

Holly: "It doesn't offend me. I've been called a whore, but it's usually during dirty talk while we're having sex. That doesn't bother me. If that is the only word in someone's vocabulary that they can come up with to insult me, I'm just not insulted."

Luke: "How many men have you slept with in your life?"

Holly: "I don't know. Probably several hundred. I lost my virginity at age 14 to a 36-year old man. I was sexually active after that."

Luke: "Do you ever orgasm with your clients?"

Holly: "Yes. Some of them are really good. A lot of them try to please me. They ask what I like. So I tell them, touch me here. Lick me here.

"It's raining. I don't like grey weather. It puts me in a weird mood. It's very cold. I've got my fur coat on today.

"Hustler magazine rejected me. They sort of beat around the bush about it. Well, I'll have to talk to Larry Flynt. I think they want me for their videos but not for their magazine. I think I'm too fat."

Luke: "How tall are you and how much do you weigh?"

Holly: "I'm 5'3" and 112 pounds. I'm curvy. I have more of the girl-next-door look and now the blown-out porn star look. I don't like to wear a lot of make-up. I have unusual features. I have a big nose. I'm 34D-24-34."

Luke: "Do you like living in Kentucky?"

Holly: "I absolutely hate it. I tend to intimidate a lot of guys here. In school, there were guys who wanted to ask me out but they'd come up to me and start talking but they'd stutter and stumble over themselves no matter how nice I was to them.

"I'm not bragging or anything but I'm really smart. I was on the Dean's List. I participated in discussions in class. I think that intimidates a lot of guys too. I've never dated someone I've gone to college with because I intimidate them. Maybe they expect me to ask them out but I don't do that.

"I loved all my sociology classes. I'm a liberal feminist, the type that's easy to get along with."

Holly graduated from high school in 1998.
