Deep Inside Digital Donna
2002-11-21 14:37:59

The [former] head of Digital Playground's internet division says she doesn't like the internet.

I spoke Thursday 11/21/02 by phone with Donna, who oversees internet operations at Digital Playground.

Luke: "We've never met."

Donna, who has a tattoo behind her neck: "I'm the one with glasses [and black hair] who sits behind Joone during the Tera Show and laughs a lot."

Luke: "You look really smart. How long have you been at Digital?"

Donna: "Since the 28th of February, 2002."

Luke: "This was your first time in porn. Why?"

Donna: "I was out of work for eight months and this one fell on my lap. I've worked in the internet industry since 1995. I had my own web design company, Web Creation. I've lived in New Zealand most of the last five years, and in Australia during most of 1999. I married a New Zealander. We're now in the process of a divorce.

"Before I moved back to the States, I was the studio manager and creative director at The Advantage Group, the largest E-commerce company in New Zealand. We had clients that were the New Zealand equivalent of Wells Fargo and AT&T. I managed a team of web designers."

Luke: "Have you ever dated a porn star?"

Donna: "Never. What are you asking me?"

Luke: "I'm a scurrilous gossip columnist."

Donna: "You are so scandalous."

Any porn stars who've dated Donna should email Duc.

Luke: "Would you consider dating a porn star?"

Donna: "No, I'm too jealous."

Luke: "That's intolerant. Are you a swinger?"

Donna: "No."

Luke: "Has Tera ever tried to make a move on you?"

Donna: "Every day."

Luke: "Are their intimate photos of you on the internet?"

Donna: "Not for human consumption."

Luke: "What were you told your job was going to be when you started at Digital?"

Donna: "I had no job description."

Luke: "So what have you been doing?"

Donna: "I look after the web team here."

Luke: "Those asian guys who post pictures of themselves on their computers sucking on porn star's breasts?"

Donna: "Yes. I have no control over their personal life."

Luke: "You haven't told them that they should remove pictures of themselves fondling porn stars because you consider it sexual harassment and it creates a hostile work environment?"

Donna: "No. It may create a hostile work environment for people such as yourself."

Luke: "Because I'm uptight."

Donna: "I encourage them to suck on nude porn star breasts for inspiration. All work and no play makes the coder a dull boy."

Including Donna, Digital has four people working on their internet sites. Two are Asian, one is Turkish and Donna is 100% Iranian though born and raised in the US.

Donna: "Can you hold on a second, Luke?"

She tells to someone. "Call Cavecreek and ask them to give you more."

Digital operates www.digitalplayground.com, www.terashow.com, www.devonxxx.com, www.tabithastevens.com, www.nikkityler.com, www.anitadarkxxx.com, www.rockiroads.com, and www.pussyman.com. None of them exactly knock Alexa.com's rating services on its back. Digitalplayground.com gets the most traffic, ranking at 33,908.

Luke: "How do you drive traffic to your sites?"

Donna: "We have a webmaster affiliate program [located at www.digitalplayground.com/partners] up since August. We provide exclusive content from each of the sites to the webmaster affiliates in addition to 50% [of the first month's subscription]. We have the hottest girls and everybody wants to have content from these girls on their site. We've put the girls' sites on every major search engine. We put TGPs [Thumbnail Gallery Post] on picture post sites to drive traffic to our sites. If someone goes to Terapatrick.com, browses around, and then closes the browser, a window will pop up that has links to our other sites.

"I like to have a relationship with the other adult webmasters out there, not a personal one, of course. (Giggle)"

Luke: "How far would you be willing to go to get someone to join your affiliate program?"

Donna: "Oh my. I'll put some suggestive smileys in my emails."

Luke: "You don't send your affiliate webmasters to third-world countries where they can boff starving women for free?"

Donna: "Just to Christchurch to find your grandmother."

Luke: "There is a big Australian webmaster program, sextraffic.com, that does that."

Donna: "This is a family business."

Donna hasn't yet attended any webmaster shows.

Luke: "How are you reaching out to your fellow webmasters?"

Donna: "Entirely online."

Luke: "How did your family react to your new career?"

Donna: "My family thinks I'm a freak anyway... My brother [Frank Fortuna] has been in the industry for about six years. He works on both sides of the camera. He wanted to keep me far away from this industry. He said to me, 'Our parents moved us from Hollywood to the Valley thinking we'd be safe from all of this...'"

Luke: "Maybe you guys have a genetic predisposition towards porn."

Donna has accidentally seen still photographs of her brother in hardcore but she refuses to watch the moving pictures. Donna and her brother did not meet until they were adults.

Luke: "Do you correspond with anybody in jail?"

Donna: "Never."

Luke: "Have you ever posted on any of the webmaster boards?"

Donna: "I've tried to post on the pornresource.com but every time I get an error. What is a webmaster board?"

Luke: "Netpond.com. Do you post on any newsgroups?"

Donna: "No, I don't really like the internet. I met my husband online through IRC (Internet Relay Chat). I don't like corresponding through mass communication networks. Whatever needs to happen for work is great but in my personal time, I don't spend time online."
