Red Light District is widely regarded as the number one gonzo company. It was founded and originally run by David Joseph's half-brother Dion. The brothers had a falling out in Mid-December, 2003. Dion decked David. David then booted him out of the company and Dion seems largely removed from porn since then. David is liked and respect around the industry. He doesn't scream and yell. He speaks quietly, pays his bills and does not seek the limelight. Why Is Redlight District's Talent Leaving The Company? 11/30/05: What's going on over there? I believe owner David Joseph got greedy. He probably thought, "Why am I giving these producers 60-70% of the take when I can keep it all?" He probably thinks the RLD brand and infrastructure is the reason for sales, not the directors. David probably told all the directors that there would be no new ownership deals, and some of the existing deals would be faded out gradually. Manuel Ferrara's deal is up next spring, he will be gone. Steve Holmes is gone. Eric Everhard has moved to Evil Angel. John Strong will stay around. He is the backbone because he does scenes every day for all the directors there. It seems there isn't a RLD-release without at least two John Strong scenes. Gonzo will always need solid performers David Joseph seems to have the same mindset that Chris at Anabolic had a few years ago when he let all his directors (Everhard, Vince, Lex, Jon Dough) leave. There is probably a two-to-three-year period where a drop in quality doesn't affect sales numbers, but eventually it catches up to you. Just ask Patrick Collins. Mike John Leaves Red Light District 1/1/06 He was their best-selling director. I wonder if he will join the string of director who've left Red Light and are suing the company. I hear they have formidable cases. Vince Voyeur, former RLD production manager, is leading that suit through attorney Allan Gelbard. I suspect Mike John will head to Voyeur's new gonzo company (financed largely by Steve Orenstein). The computer harddrives at RLD with all its accounting have been seized so that there can be no tampering with the evidence.
