VCX

VCX was one of porn's big companies during the 1980s.

Matt writes on RAME: "VCX is a great source for golden age videos but of course the newer distributed ones have some politically incorrect stuff (B+D w/sex, GS, fisting, underage theme, incest, rape) cut out from the original versions.

"If the cut themes matter to you I would check for a couple things to make sure it is as uncut as possible.

1- Make sure the label on the cassette inside itself has a reproduction of the boxcover art on it, not just the text title. VCX's real old titles (pre-1984), when they had more pride in their product, took the time to put a cool label on the cassette and made it more collectible and back then only fisting and GS stuff was cut. They changed ownership in the mid 80's so there was an overhaul of the inventory then and stuff was cut out.

2- If there is any sign of the following phrases on the box then beware:"All photography contained in this material was completed prior to November 1, 1990" (With this on there you might still have a good uncut copy from them, it varies from company to company though with that quote). If you see, "This product and all graphical materials associated with it are exempt from the requirements of 18 U.S.C. section 2257 because all visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct appearing therein were made before July 3, 1995. Manuactured by ...." (With this on there you most definately have a copy of the film with all controversial scenes cut to oblivion)

As a collector I might buy them for $10 or less for the old box art, but I'll usually get a copy of the uncut movie from a dupe service to put in the box if it is a newer copy that was inside the box. I like to see the cut copies anyway to appreciate the fact that I also have it uncut. This great hobby costs a bit but it is fun and life is short. Get Volumes 1,2,5,6 and 7 of the X-rated Videotape Guides by Patrick Riley and Robert Rimmer to read up on the stars of those films and scene details that describe the themes that are cut nowadays from those films."

Pat Riley: "VCX were one of the biggies, probably on a par with Select/Essex, VCA, and VHL. You must remember them. Up front of each video they have a very irritating Oriental woman telling you how they're the greatest thing since sliced bread while in a pre-Pers Comp age photos of their boxes spin around.

"Lots of classics on their lineup but you have to be careful of WHEN the tape copy was made. In the last few years they've edited the tapes to cut out any offending scene--schoolgirls, non-consensual sex, etc.--but if the store you've found carries copies that were duplicated back in the eighties you should be OK. Litmus test: do they have Little Girls Blue parts #1 and #2?"
