What Would You Like Explored In Future Porn Star Interviews?
2002-12-14 18:45:42

Fred writes: There are a few things I would like to see explored in future interviews.

Do most porn stars view themselves as being essentially different from other women? Since most other women would never do porn, what characteristics do porn stars have that cause themselves to go into this line of work?

Rob suggests: I suspect they view non-whores as being foolish for giving away a product that many men will gladly pay for.

Are these women exhibitionist? If so, why do they think that is?

Rob: Clearly they are exhibitionists. My guess is this is a symptom of a childhood abuse, molestation or mental illness.

What sort of "exit strategy" do they envision for leaving porn?

Rob: It is delusional to even consider an exit strategy as most careers last a few months. With rare exception the industry "exits" them once they are used up.

Do they escort? If not, why not? What is it about having sex with folks that they don't really know in front of the camera that makes it preferable to having sex with folks that they don't know without a camera?

Rob: The majority do. In fact, porn is frequently used as a marketing strategy to pump up their escorting rates. Men pay extra for bragging rights on porking a porn star.

What is their perception of whether porn feeds an ego need? What is their perception of whether porn is glamorous/socially acceptable/socially unacceptable?

Rob: Seen the E! Channel lately? All the porn stars appear on it regularly. Though porn is the lowest rung it is still 100% mainstream entertainment.

Do they ever think in terms of exploiting their sexuality as a way of exerting power over men?

Rob: Promiscuity is a common symptom of childhood sex abuse. A way to "take back" their sexuality.

Do they perceive porn as the most lucrative thing they could possibly be doing? If there were a similarly
lucrative but dull thing they could be doing, would they still do porn?

Rob: I think most porn satrs and most porn reporters, for that matter, are lazy. They could pound the pavement, knock on doors, go to auditions, but dropping their knickers is an easier way to fame and has a much lower ratio of rejection.

How much of this is personal thrill seeking (vs. some other motivation)? How much of this is getting back at Mom/Dad/boyfriend? How much of this is "My boyfriend wants me to do this?" How much is it a matter of youthful rebellion?

How do they perceive themselves in terms of looks? Intelligence? Generally a good person?

Rob: They must be secure in their looks. Most attractive women that I know are still insecure when it comes to wearing a bikini in public. Intelligence? They probably run the gammit, but don't have a clear view on possible reprecussions of their career choice. Good person? Sure.

Ask them if they could explain how it is that they can muster the sheer willpower that they must be using to avoid jumping on your bones? Where did they amass such super-human self-control?

Have they ever done it with a patent lawyer?

Try a couple of questions like this with a couple of girls, and see how it turns out.
