Gay to Straight

Various male performers have gone back and forth between gay and straight. Though man-to-man porn pays more, there is far more work in heterosexual porn. Most of those who have done both, are thought to have "graduated" from gay to straight.

Al Brown began in gay porn using the name Matt Ramsey before he moved to straight under the moniker Peter North. Don Weber gay performer became Marc Wallice. Charlie Stone - Eric Price. Mac Reynolds - Joey Verducci.

Primarily straight performers with gay porn pasts include Byron Long, George Payne, Marc Stevens, Wade Nichols, Marc Simpson, Francois Papillon, Greg Rome and Tommy Gunn.

Primarily gay performers who've done straight include Jeff Stryker, Rip Stone, Andre Bolla, R. J. Reynolds, Jack Wrangler, Mark Andrews, Rod Garetto, and Johnny Davenport.

(Information largely comes from RAME, in particular, Tim Evanson.)

Numerous gay performers (Chad Knight, Chance Caldwell, Chris Dano, Dean Glass, Karl Thomas, Johan Paulik) screwed women in bisexual porn.

Tim Evanson says that most bi men cannot integrate the two halves of their bisexuality. "I've sat in on a large number of panels concerning bisexual men's roles and identity over the years, and almost everyone -- whether they be scholars and academics, bisexual activists, volunteers in bisexual community services organizations, or just "your average bisexual off the street" who stands up during Q&A -- bemoans the fact that most bisexuals act heterosexual around straights and gay/lesbian around gays and lesbians. There is no "bisexual identity" as one might talk about a gay identity. There is also no "bisexual community" as one might talk about a gay community. There are no "bisexual ghettos."

"Plot lines can address bisexuality in any number of ways. There are a hundred thousand stories to tell about men and women who come to an understanding and appreciation of their bisexuality late in life. It may be cliched, however, to address these in porn (although certainly they do contain a LOT of erotic heat). But why can't there be OPEN bisexuals? And why can't we find men willing to top AND bottom for other men on screen in bisexual films??? And what about a bisexual man who can f--- other man, and comes late to an understanding that he can BOTTOM for other men, too? Or the same situation, but a bi man who can get head from women but eventually learns to like f---ing them?

"I also find myself getting pissed off at a LOT of performers. How many times have we heard some bastard tell us in an interview, "Oh, I'm bi, but I do gay porn." And then when he's in a bisexual movie, he looks as if he's having sex with a woman for the first time in his life? How many gay performers have said this, and then REFUSED to bi movies? How many straight male performers are bisexual in their private lives, but REFUSE to admit to this much less show it on screen by doing a bisexual film? It's as if the gay performers are supposed to be the ones to f--- women, but god forbid a straight male performer should f--- a man. Didn't anyone ever think it is about as yucky and un-arousing for a gay man to f--- women as it would be for a straight man to f--- men? And yet, for some reason, the gay performers find it in their masculinity to be able to do this while the straight ones whine and bitch and moan about how "disgusting" it is (all the while asking women to do A2M and take abuse on screen). We viewers are supposed to believe that porn is not "sex," it's a job. And as a job, they "act" on screen. We are not supposed to believe that Rocco likes giving his wife a swirly, or that Max likes raping women anally until they're weeping and screaming in pain. "It's all a fantasy," we are told. "I'm just making a buck, being f---ed in the ass is not the real me," Chad Connors tells us repeatedly in interviews. Every single issue of "Manshots" contains a small editorial in the response to letters from fans, advising us that "Bill Henson was straight and just making a buck" or that Matt Ramsey and Marc Wallice and Jack Wrangler and Eric Price were just "doing it for the money." OH YEAH? Then pray tell why can't Jon Dough or T.T. Boy or Alex Saunders "do it for the money." After all, T.T. would probably be paid $20,000 to do a gay film; more if he'd bottom. How many lousy straight films does he have to make to earn what he would in ONE gay film? 100? 150? Gee, if this is all "just a job" then why does he, Pappillon, Saunders, Zane, Borda, and the rest hold back?"

RAME's Tim Evanson says the PERFECT BISEXUAL FILM would include:

1) ALL the men topping and bottoming.

2) Fewer "punked out" performers (i.e., looking like "alternative lifestyle" folks) and more "mainstream" performers.

3) Plot lines that deal with bisexual identity issues such as coming out bi, holding together relationships when one comes out bi late in life, coming out bi physically, coming out bi emotionally, integrating gay and straight friends into one bi lifetstyle, managing the conflict that gays

and straights put on a bi person to "make up their mind," etc.

4) More one-on-one scenes and fewer three-ways.

5) More situations where a bi person has to choose between male and female, and the film shows us why.

6) More S&M and leather (after all, 90% of the women in the S&M community practice in the GAY S&M community because the straight S&M community is so pathetic).

7) Fewer dildos applied to women, more applied to men (by men AND by women).

8) Being bi but having to come out to gay friends.

9) Plots that deal with the naivete and simplistic assumptions most people have about bisexuality.

10) More foreplay and erotic play than straightforward f---ing.

11) Fewer "surprises"; too often, we see a man f---ing a woman and SURPRISE he's penetrated from the rear by a man.

12) More gangbangs of MEN by women and men, and fewer gangbangs of WOMEN by men and women.

13) Longer running times (no more 70 minutes; let's push it to 120).

14) More complexity in bisexual identity (less 50-50).

15) Better production values (god, the lighting and editing in bi film SUCKS).

16) More emphasis on the pleasure of bisexuality, especially when someone has sex with a gender he/she normally does not have sex with (i.e., show a man

who rarely has gay sex REALLY getting off on his rarely-engaged-in sexuality.)

17) HARDER DICKS.

18) MORE lesbian sex, and less "straight man's view of lesbian sex."

19) More first-timers having first-time bi sex.

20) REAL AMATEURS or first-timers having bi sex for the first time in their life, ON SCREEN.
