Bisexual movies are a '90s trend. "We're not talking standard porn bisexuality
(two girls, one guy)," writes Michael Louis Albo of HEVG, "but two guys
and one girl. The primary audience seems to be closeted gay dudes too
afraid to rent a tape like Butt-Fucked Blonde Beach Buddies and vindictive
girlfriends trying to get back at you for making them watch those lesbians
films you like so much. Films like Intropic's Switch Hitters 3 and Catalina
Video's End of Innocence are typical of the genre. Not much of interest
for heterosexual male porn fans, but at least you'll get a chance to see
stars like Danielle and Samantha Strong in non-traditional roles."
"A lot of these fetishes - spanking, whipping, humiliation - are a variation
of some sort of childhood experience," says Dr. Susan Block, a sex therapist
and host of a nationally syndicated radio talk show. "Perhaps the submissive
player in a domination scene was often sick as a child, thus he associates
all loving acts with pain, because when he felt pain, nurses and his mother
took care of him. On the other hand, wanting to dominate sexually may
be a desire to get control over something in your life or over a person
who may seem unattainable. It's a universal feeling, the desire to have
power over someone." (Hustler)
A ruby welt rises on Kym Wilde's naked ass. It seems a harmless blemish
at first, but then it bubbles under the strain of a leather whip in the
hand of P.J. Sparxx. While the birds in the nearby Hollywood Hills sing
an afternoon serenade, the leather strap lashes again into Wylde's previously
white flesh. Slaaap! "Do you like that, bitch? barks Sparxx.
"Yes, Mistress," Wilde says. The domineering blonde grabs a handful of
Wilde's brunnette mane and hurls her headfirst into a swimming pool.
Wilde surfaces, gasping for air.
"Get the fuck out of there!" Sparxx demands, politely assisting her by
pulling Kym's goose-bumped nipples until her breasts look ready to pop.
Back on dry land, Sparxx drags victim along the textured cement deck.
Purple bruises emerge on Wilde's knees.
The scene shifts to a shower, where Wylde, according to her mistress's
orders, holds out her meaty tongue for Sparxx to suck like a stiff cock.
When Wilde pulls away, Sparxx gives her slave an open-handed slap across
the face. "You're a good bitch," Sparxx beams. (Hustler's summary of Kym
Wilde's Sessions #1 from Redboard Video.)
"There's been times when I've been beaten so much, I got light-headed
and felt high," says Wilde. "I've passed out twice after a serious whipping.
I just lose all sense of where I am. That's exciting to me."
Wilde says you should be careful playing these games at home. "These
movies and acts aren't for everyone. It's important to know your limits,"
she says, rubbing white cream into her red butt between takes.
"I happen to like bizarre stuff. I just did a movie called Ocean View,
where I was suspended horizontally from the ceiling with my legs spread.
Candles burned underneath me; so I had to keep arching my back so the
candles wouldn't burn me. Finally [the dominant partner] burned my underwear
off and dripped candle wax all over my pussy. That was incredibly erotic.
"I would love to make bondage movies that also have explicit sex," Wilde
says. But that would bring down on producers and distributors of the product
a hail of lawsuits.
"By law, bondage tapes can show no penetration or cum-shots," explains
E.Z. Ryder, marketing director for Bon-Vue Productions. "In Europe, anything
goes. Bondage scenes can show sex, urination, anything. But in America,
anything approaching rape, urination, or bondage and sex together is illegal."
Petite porn powerhouse Tami Monroe has been told to strip. Standing on
an apartment rooftop, the diminutive slave removes her bikini top and
slips out of her bottoms. A mangy male dominator spreads her legs to ensure
the pussy remains open, and ties each ankle to stanchions. Once his prey
is secured, the man takes liberties with Monroe's titties, giving each
a painful slap before moving to her splayed cunt. (Hustler)
"You better be good," he mutters, running his grimy, biker fingernails
along the pussy's pristine lips, "or else I'll leave you up here forever."
With that, he leaves.
Under the glare of the summer sun, Monroe squirms for ten minutes of
solo torture. When her dominator finally returns to untie her, she laps
his stained boots like a grateful puppy. (Summary of Tami Monroe Tied
at Home.)
Bondage and discipline tapes have their own subgenres - roping videos
such as the Bound and Gagged series from Redboard Video, where young half-naked
girls are tied to radiators or bound squirming in the open trunks of automobiles.
"I don't think movies incite violence," says director Roger Thornhill.
"Violence is a major part of our life, and movies reflect that."
"I don't shoot videos with any intention to incite rape or violence -
I'm addressing fantasies. I think of myself as a very caring person."
Almost everyone thinks of themselves as very caring persons, even pornographers
who tie up young naked women and whip the hell out of them on camera so
thousands of male voyeurs can jack off.
Thornhill's next production features girls bound and gagged in trash
dumpsters - another major theme in our society. I just saw several naked
girls tied up in my trash dumpster, so I emptied my food rubbish over
them. They screamed with ecstasy and experienced multiple orgasms as rotting
banana peels caressed their breasts. Boys from the ninth grade of Beverly
Hills High School stood around the dumpster and jacked off over the girls
as Action News helicopters captured the action live for viewers around
the world. As the sun set behind me in rotting hues of orange, I wearily
walked nine paces home to my word processor and resumed writing this book.
"To some people, S&M is like Hannibal the Cannibal," laughs Goddess
Sondra. She's a beautiful blonde dominant who writes regularly for HEVG.
"The men I deal with are upstanding and productive members of society.
This is simply a form of escapism that takes care of some deep-rooted
lustful needs of being controlled. It's a form of letting go."
"Most men don't hate women," says Dr. Block, "they just don't understand
them. Men fight, but you don't see many women fighting physically; so
when a man sees this on a tape, he goes, 'A Ha,' they're just like us."
HEVG: "Without belaboring the obvious, there's something inherently erotic
about two beautiful naked girls beating the shit out of each other."
"These videos play on a fantasy of two women going at it physically like
they do intellectually in real life," explains Ken Kirk, president of
Napali Video.
"Tao Productions produces a line of spanking vids for the viewer craving
hand-to-cheek control. What male executive hasn't fantasized about bending
an insolent secretary over his knee, pulling up her tight skirt, pulling
down her frilly panties and giving her ass cheeks a new reason to take
dictation seriously? Spanked Secretaries (Tao) satisfies that urge. (AFW)
"Platinum Video offers a series of ticklers like Tickling Part I, in
which three sorority girls pull off each others' sweaters and shorts and
proceed to menage-a-tcikle each other mercilessly to the point of peeing
their panties.
"Messy Fun Video offers a full line of "splosh tapes," in which pretty
girls in high heels and lingeries subject themselves to a variety of viscuous
liquids, from sloppy dirt to creamy food to colorful paints. Mud has never
seemed so appealing as when it drips from a woman's butt crack.
"Along the same lines as relief therapy, is relaxation treatment designed
to appeal to the discriminating viewer wanting to forget the pressures
of adulthood by reverting to infancy. Phantom of the Diaper shows a man
regressing out of his business suit and into a diaper and bonnet. While
he drools like a baby, his "Mommy" tends to his needs, powdering, diapering
and putting the big baby to bed in his crib." (Hustler)
"Fetishists are very specific in their wants," explains Palmer Lawrence
Jr. of Platinum Video, which specializes in spanking, cat fighting, enema,
foot worship and tickling shows. "Some people like either long toenails
or short. Some like them painted, some not. We have people who want bald-headed
women. One guy has written every six months for four years - he likes
[women wearing] moccasins."
Foot fans may want The Agony of D'Feet (Sorel Productions), where Mistress
Leah LeFleur crushes everything from cream puffs to light bulbs to men's
bare chests with a tall pair of spiked heels.
"Don't be afraid to try something new," advises Redboard Video Director
Thornhill.
Those who get off on insects raping and murdering women have to satisfy
themselves R-rated movies. In Galaxy of Terror, a crew travels to another
planet where they're caught by an alien who's able to read their minds
and use their worst fears to kill them. One of the women on the crew,
played by Taafee O'COnnell, despises insects so the alien kills her by
turning into a giant worm and fucking her to death. "I remember the worm
tearing off her clothes, wrapping around her, and then something went
inside of her from below," writes N. Smith in rame newsgroup. The movie
also starred Erin Moran from Happy Days who dies with her clothes on,
squeezed until she explodes. In Horror Planet, an alien abducts Judy Geeson,
pinns her naked onto a light tabkel, injects her and then has another
big-worm looking alien impregnate her. An alien insect in Forbidden World
impales June Chadwick from crotch to shoulder and giant cicadas rape Kitty
Moffat and Bebe Besch in The Beast WIthin.
AFW: "With Bizarre Video, the name says it all. This New York-based specialty
manufacturer is to adult entertainment what Disney is to children and
families. And like their Hollywood equivalent, Bizarre just keeps growing.
"Nobody covers Fetish erotica like Bizarre Video, with more than 500
titles from directors like F.J. Lincoln, Henri Pachard, Sir Gino Colbert,
Chi Chi LaRue..."
"Fetish tapes are getting hotter and more interesting," notes David Aaron
Clark. "The cultural craze for S/M has resulted in an influx of fresh,
attractive on-screen talent... But while qualty has suddenly become an
issue... things have yet to reach critical mass - there are still no equivalents
to the Greg Darks, the Andrew Blakes, the John Leslies who are responsible
for the low-profit, high-profile flagship features invested in by straight
porn companies. There's still no single tape a fan can point to as the
pinnacle of the genre... For every Ernest Greene who brings passion, versimilitude
and a legitimate connection to the underground fetish scene to his bondage
opuses, there's a bored porn hack who's just moonlighting..." (AFW 97)
"I suspect," writes Dr. Stoller, "that many men see women's bodies as
having only the external anatomy of femaleness; women's erotic desires,
these men think - you can see it in heterosexual pornography for men -
are the same as men's (in some depictions, nsatiably so): as if real-life
females, thoug crazily unpredictable, are eroticaly male in the soul.
So, for instance, breasts are...phalluses-on-another-place, and if a woman
does not cooperate... she is teasing, frigid or snotty, not erotically
different. Women's pornography dreams of the opposite: men who are male
women. The tough cowboy-soldier-sheik ends up, by the power of tenderness
in a good woman (schoolmarm, nurse, fair-skinned slave), amenable to giving
up...masculinity.
"Perversion is far more common in men than in women," writes Dr. Robert
Stoller. "Women practice almost none of the official diagnoses." Stoller
doubts that this is merely a counting error - that women's perversions
are hidden from researchers. He also doubts that women are less perverse
because of society's repression.
Stoller traces many of these male-female differences to testosterone
- or whatever we call the interplay of brain and endocrine organs. From
puberty on, boys are more driven by their erotic physiology than girls,
which helps account for the "raging energy spent by young men in sports,
violent crimes, car accidents and warriorhood."
Listening to patients in analysis, Stoller heard the urgency of most
men's stiff cocks which contrasted with most women's greater capacity,
even when excited, to wait. "For men - the younger the more so - engorgement
dominates engagement."
Creating fetishes is normal for males but not for females. Though women
can admit to gazing on men's parts and can be turned on to pornography,
Stoller believed that a man's personality is a more reliable erotic stimulant
for women than is a woman's personality for most men. "Men's pornography
- heterosexual, homosexual, transvestic, whatever - does not depict relationships,
does not focus on affection and love."
Men worry more about sex performance. "In almost all cultures of which
I have heard, the definitions of masculinity tend in a macho direction,
wherein manliness is the fear of being feminine and is expressed by the
capacity to be cruel, uncommitted, physically dangerous, untender, and
uninterested in the woman (whole person) into whose reproductive organs
- a complex land of mystery and miasma - the man is expected to plunge."
Women fear men's physical strength and the paranoia that enhances it
while men fear women's psychological strength and the patience that enhances
it. Women do not fear they'll become less female if intimate with men,
but men fear to merge with women because they believe it threatens their
masculinity.
"Our first humiliator is a woman. I think that becomes unbearable to
most males and bearable to most females."
From the age five on, men try to get the clothes off women, seeking total
revelation. Yet, few men can bear the sight of the unadorned woman. "Every
girl learns that what drives men wild is anticipation, not total access
to flesh.
"To save themselves, men avert their full gaze and shift into aesthetics.
We see this at its most efficient in pornography, with its arranging in
advance the settings, lighting, and poses... The classic cowboy movie
- the Great American Myth - has the hero struggling manfully against the
schoolmarm who tries, by tenderness, to lasso - castrate - him into civility."
(Observing the Erotic Imagination)
Romance novels are a form of women's pornography. Janet Daily has written
about 100. Her technique is to use innuendo. "You say "his roaming hand"
without saying where it's roaming. The reader's imagination will supply
that. To go too far in print is not romantic."
When we accept another, we can be intimate with the person's body and
personality. Perversion is the solution to a failure of intimacy. The
nonperverse person does not fear intimacy, because he does not worry that
merging will swallow up his identity. (Stoller)
"When I feel a little low, I buy women's underwear," writes Michael Segel
in his 5/96 Esquire column "The Male Mind".
"Lost amidst a surfeit of sexy thingies, each one destined to trace a
special rondure of breast, thigh, and buttock, I feel my spirits soar
like the selvage of a skimpy silk chemise. Holding one up, I admire its
filigreed trimmings and clever infrastrcture, and I picture its fit. Just
so. I even get a perverse excitement from knowing the salesclerk is trying
to suppress her doubts that my purchase will ever adorn a female body.
"A friend of mine buys his wife's footwear. His spouse prefers sensible
walking shoes. He sees her in sandals with straps that climb halfway up
her calves, snakeskin flats, glossy pumps. Decorum prohibits our discussing
exactly when she wears these items, though we both know. He's willing
to run a gauntlet of snickering saleswomen to have his way with their
erotic life.
"Are he and I fetishistic? A little. We're aroused by dressing up our
mates and, like most men, whose partiality makes them ass, leg, or tit
men, would admit to a fondness for a particular zone of their bodies.
On the spectrum we're well in from someone who snatches women's undies
off clotheslines - and from Marla Maples former PR man, who was caught
having a "sexual relationship" with a pair of her pumps.
"Fetishes are one category in a sexual syndrome know as paraphilia: a
dependence on unusual, narrowly focused, or forbidden stimuli - to the
exclusion of all others - to achieve arousal. There are many paraphilias,
ranging from frotteurism (compulsively rubbing up against strangers) to
acrotomophilia (an attraction to amputees). Their most striking feature
is that they are an almost exclusively male phenomenon.
"Obsession with a fetish object distances - perhaps defends - a man from
real involvement with a partner. What are the origins of such behavior?
A toddler, tickling his erect penis, scans his surroundings and seizes
upon a rubber ducky or his sister's Barbie. From where he sits, he also
sees a lot of his mother's shoes and legs. Lacking a mature concept of
sexuality, his little brain makes a logical enough association: Whatever
boosts my erection must have sexual significance." (Esquire)
The spatial skills that males evolved as hunters and gatherers probably
contributes to our dependence on visual stimuli for arousal. For the fetishist,
visual foreplay lengthens this natural remove. As psychiatrist Robert
Stoller observed, "A fetish is a story masquerading as an object" - but
it's a story with no surprises. "Control over the highly nuanced plot
is everything." For instance, to achieve arousal, some fetishists have
to pay their partners - even their wives.
Fortunately, there is such a thing as will. We have choices, as was apparent
to George Braque and Pablo Picasso. One afternoon, the two artists saw
a pair of black lace undies in a French lingerie shop, and Braque promtply
purchased them.
"Are they for your mistress?" asked Picasso, a legendary philanderer.
"No, for my wife," said Braque. "That's what makes them interesting."
