Japanese Porn vs American

XXX-fan-UK writes on RAME:

Does anyone else think that Japanese porn is generally far far better than the majority of gonzo porn made in the USA. I'm not sure if i'm jaded with American porn but recently I have been getting into the Japanese stuff and find the American stuff all rather boring. It's not that the Japanese stuff is harder or has nice looking women, it's that the scenarios seem to be far more erotic. For example I watched a japanese film the other day that revolved around a cute japanese women wearing a swimming costume. This may sound boring and tame but it was really erotic and different from the standard American stuff. Does anyone have any thoughts on this subject. I dont really know much about Japanese porn so i'd also like some recommendations for series and info on the various types of films released.

Rollee writes: Yeah, the Japanese do have some more and different films out there. I recommend you visit www.jmates.com and also www.jlist.com. They have many films, interviews, etc, that will let you know what is out there. For example, a recent phenomenon is a rash of films that came out wherin the guys get their cocks and balls kicked by women in either high heels or barefoot. Believe it or not, supposedly guys were lining up to have their balls bashed by these girls!

CE vs Homegrown

Spike Goldberg, CEO of HomeGrownVideo.com, writes:

The defendants opposed our request for injunctive relief in federal court and argued that the arbitrator should rule on the issue. The injunction was to stop Trade News from using copyrighted matter in marketing the Site as New Destiny/Homegrown never authorized Trade News to use the copyrighted material nor did New Destiny/Homegrown sign any marketing agreement with Trade News. The District Court judge said it was "very likely" she would have granted the injunction but she felt the arbitrator should rule on the issue. The arbitrator agreed to hear the arbitration motion and on the day we filed and served our injunction motion in the arbitration proceeding, CE responded with its announcement. Homegrown is very happy with CE's announcement. If people have a need to read up on the case you can at this link.

The main TRO briefing we filed in federal court is the following link.

The Adventures Of Don Lemmon And Asia Carrera-Lemmon In Hawaii

By Don Lemmon

I receive emails daily congratulating my wife and I for our happy new lives here in Hawaii and most of them ask what a typical day is like for us. I would hardly call anything we do typical but then again, it is probably boring up against what you imagine our days to be. Living in paradise is fantastic, there is nothing like it, but to me, a day is only as good as the person you spend it with. I wouldn't enjoy half the things I see or do if it weren't for my wife. If I were here in Hawaii or living somewhere less tropical like Connecticut, I couldn't be happier... Thanks to her.

But what is a day like? Let's start with the night... I go to bed between 11 and 12 pm each evening and then sleep until 7 or 8 am. I get up, usually without an alarm clock and if it is closer to 7 am, I will ride my stationary bike on the patio until my eyes are completely open. If it is 8 am, I will do some calisthenics, Bodylastics exercises and isometrics. Yes, that is all I need at this point... After exercise, which is 5 days a week, I spend the next 4 hours working on whatever is there left on my "To Do" list from the day before. This is perfect for me, working early, despite it being 3 to 6 hours of a time difference between here and L.A. or NYC because Asia doesn't go to bed until 4 am. She is a total night owl who sleeps until noon. So, that means I can take advantage of this fact and work until she wakes, eats, and shakes off the morning grogginess... Another note, I do not rush because I already know that unless I am up at 3 am, I can't help the early bird in New York and whether I am up at 7 or 8, it is mid-morning shift or lunch time for those in California... "Hang Loose!"

Recruiting porn models that are still in high school?

Brad Shaw writes on JBM:

From our good friend Steve Lightspeed. I guess that new Viper is coming in handy cruising the high schools.

"This one started while she was still in Highschool (over 18 of course), we even have footage of her graduation that we shot."

Steve is an idiot. He represents a good bit of what is wrong with this business. I do not need to rehash old stories, seach gfy.

He has attempted to clean up his act in the last year (laying low hey and maybe getting off drugs), but a zebra does not change his stripes.

Hamilton Steele Unloads

Hamilton Steele has apparently left the porn industry. He gives a sizzling interview to Jennifer Leigh:

One of the most subversive tricks used in the biz is to keep them broke and hungry. I have seen it happen where a girl shows up on set and is expecting to just have sex with me but when she gets there it's myself and another male and it's double internal. You can just see it in her eyes that she needs the money, and even I was keeping my mouth shut because I didn't want to be out of work. I have learned over and over again that some of the most malevolent people in the industry never bounce a check and are loved by all.

British gay couple offended by double bed ban

LONDON (AFP) - It was a true clash of cultures. Stephen Nock, a gay man from London, assumed it would be a matter of routine to book a double room at a remote Scottish guest house for himself and his long-term partner.

But Tom Forrest, owner of the bed-and-breakfast accommodation in the Scottish Highlands, where a sometimes stern Presbyterian spirit remains strong, had other ideas. He would be happy to rent the couple a room with twin beds at the guest house in the village of Kinlochewe, "but we will not condone your perversion" with a double bed, he wrote in an e-mail, the Times newspaper said Wednesday.

"I have had bent people coming to stay, but they have had a twin room and respect our wishes," Forrest was quoted as saying.

Jason Sechrest Gets A Boyfriend

Jason Sechrest writes:

So I went into a bar looking for sympathy, a little company. I tried to find a friend. It's more easily said. It's always been the same. This type of modern life, is it for me? This type of modern life, is it for free? American life. I live the American dream. You are the best thing I've seen. You are not just a dream.

And so with great wariness and much anxiety, I have yet again entered the world of dating. Sweet glances over dinner, public displays of affection in the streets, making out in movie theatres, all the regular raptures that getting to know someone brings. There's only one thing not so regular. I'm dating a porn star/escort.

I'm always in awe and suddenly ill at ease when I find that the epitome of my type favors me in return. Being a 24 year old with the usual insecurities that age can bring, (yes, I have them too, despite the superhero shell!) I felt certain that I was not going to be the object of Mac Turner's affection and I was fine with that. Fine, that is, until I found out that I was.

Mac, of course, didn't expect it either. He, four years younger than I, has only had intimate feelings for one other man in his life. (Who happens to look a great deal like me! Who'd have ever guessed I was anyone's "type?") While he enjoys messing around with guys from time to time, he's predominantly straight -- especially when it comes to his social life. Needless to say, he never saw me coming, but then I suppose I have based an entire career off of a dear friend of mine saying long ago, "You may be straight, you may be gay, you may be bi or bi-curious, but everyone is just a little Jason-curious."

You know who did see all of this coming was Mac's agent and manager, David Forest. He was sending me photos of the stud, telling me how much I was going to adore him and said the same to Mac who replied, "He's cute and all, but I don't really like guys. Why am I going to like Jason more than any other cute boy who wants me?"

We're not "boyfriends" per se, though we've both let the term slip on a few occasions.

ASHLEY BLUE'S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT ON THE WAY

From Jasoncurious.com:

JM Productions contract girl Ashley Blue plays herself in her forthcoming directorial debut, Missing & Exploited. "I got the idea from the way porn stars just kind of disappear. One day they're on a set with you, the next day they're gone," Blue told AVN.com. "So that's the basic concept - I try to figure out where they've gone to."

Naturally, Blue gives up her pussy and her ass to get information on her friends who include Julie Night, Tyla Wynn and Katrina Kraven. One is found picking up male hookers on Santa Monica Boulevard, one is found trying to become a groupie for a hair band, and one is a crack whore.

Blue says Missing & Exploited is a comedy, but very different from Girlvert, the series she stars in at JM Productions. "I'm not beating people up and there's not as much torture," she said.

In addition to directing and starring in the film, Blue also took on many other production responsibilities, including writing, casting, and wardrobe but quickly credits Jim Powers as her discordant muse. "We would talk about dialogue for the scenes and he would suggest a line of dialogue and I would say, 'No, that's stupid.' Then I'd come up with what I wanted to do," Blue said. "It makes for some great behind-the-scenes footage on the DVD."

Blue is also proud of her "director's commentary," a bonus audio track on the DVD. "I basically drank some beer and watched the video and made jokes about what was going on," Blue explained. Missing & Exploited gets found on July 6.

HOT OFF THE PRESS JESSE ON CLEO:

Digital Playground's exclusive contract star, Jesse Jane is featured in the June 2004 issue of Cleo magazine. "Chick Porn", by Georgia Cassimatis, showcases Miss Jane as one of the stars helping to create new sex products for women. Jesse leads the article, telling her story over a beautiful two-page spread as part of a larger story that encompasses the history of pornography and the recent, growing trend of females addicted to it. Cleo is the top selling women's lifestyle magazine in Australia, with a circulation topping 250,000 and a readership reaching 1,000,000 monthly. In a country with the population equal to Los Angeles, Cleo is a demanded read.

FEATURED REVIEW SIN CITY'S "SWEET OBSCENITIES":

Cheers to the publicists who make the journalist's job easier by practically reviewing a movie for you! On days when there simply isn't enough time in the day, I can't appreciate a pal like Devan over there at Sin City more. Here's his own hyped-up take on Sin City's latest effort with contract girl Aurora Snow. It's called Sweet Obscenities.

Autumn Rayne Loves Visiting Greece

Doc writes: I have spoken to Autumn several times and have read her consistent "Highly Recommend" reviews from several boards and all indications tend to one want to add her to our MUST SEE list. Oh! BTW, she fluently talks Greek.

XXX: 30 Porn Star Portraits

Brian_Wallace writes on AdultDVDTalk.com:

In October, Bullfinch Press will publish a book entitled "XXX: 30 Porn Star Portraits" by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders. I'm not a shill for this book but this is what the press release says:

XXX is a provocative look at today's leading porn stars combined with insightful, offbeat, and engaging texts by an all-star literary lineup. The photographs are by renowned art and celebrity-portrait photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, who has made paired portraits (one clothed and one nude) of the top stars in pornographic film. A cross section of straight and gay men and women is represented, from industry legends to rising stars. Performers in the book include celebrities such as Jenna Jameson (the leading porn star of our time), Ron Jeremy, and Nina Hartley, as well as fast-rising names like Sunrise Adams, Belladonna, and Chad Hunt.

The book includes short essays on the intersection of pornography and culture by a wide range of distinguished contributors, from Salman Rushdie to John Malkovich, Nancy Friday to John Waters, A.M. Homes to Lou Reed. Candid photographs with personal biographies and top-ten film lists for each porn star appear at the back of the book. XXX is a landmark artistic work that will contribute to the ongoing debate about the pornification of the culture at large.

The thirty adult actors and actresses included are:

Seymore Butts
Aiden Shaw
Belladonna
Briana Banks
Chad Hunt
Chloe
Christy Canyon
Gina Lynn
Ginger Lynn
Heather Hunter
Janine
Jenna Jameson
Jeremy and Jason
Jesse Jane
Kira Kenner
Lexington Steele
Lukas Ridgeston
May Ling Su
Mariposa
Michael Lewis
Nina Hartley
Peter North
Reina Leone
Ron Jeremy
Savanna Samson
Sean Michaels
Sharon Mitchell
Sunrise Adams
Tawny Roberts
Tera Patrick

These seems like the kind of book that will get some press when it is published and the author has a right to interview who he wants. It appears that he does have a nice cross-section of adult performers (new/veteran, male/female, gay/straight/bi) but does anyone else think the line-up is Vivid heavy?

Of the twenty women featured, nine either are or were Vivid contract performers. Is that an accurate representation of the adult industry?

Not to blow smoke up the ass of any of the adult performers who regularly post on the Adult DVD Talk message boards, but if I had to profile thirty adult performers who are today's leading porn stars I would definitely interview Kylie Ireland, Jewel De Nyle or both. Both have seen various sides of the adult industry, are intelligent, do not tolerate stupidity, are making their marks creatively and are strongly opinionated.

The same can be said for the absence of any of the Wicked contract actresses. Since the mid-90s, the three main companies producing adult feature films have been Vivid, Wicked and VCA. VCA is represented (Ginger, Chloe) but no Wicked actresses?

Wicked productions always show an attention to detail. From the sets to the costumes to the scripts, it is obvious that care has been put into the films. Just look at the box covers. Look at Beautiful and Space Nuts and Stiletto.

Plus, the Wicked contract actresses always demonstrate a sense of intelligence and wit in their performances. This isn't just my opinion. Look how many awards (acting and otherwise) current or former Wicked contract actresses have received. Serenity, Stephanie Swift, Devinn Lane, Stormy Daniels, Sydnee Steele, Jessica Drake, Julia Ann &the list goes on. Devinn recently spoke at Yale during Sex Week and was articulate and intelligent. That type of adult performer isn't worth profiling?

David Aaron Clark writes:

I don't pay much attention to these carpetbaggers who make their little forays into the industry for their coffee-table books -- they all think they're the first intelligent life-forms to examine the job of making smut. That said, there was a pretty damn good one a few years ago, Pornstar. Savannah was on the front cover and Ron Jeremy on the back. The photographer [Ian Gittler], who wrote the accompanying text, had hung out and shot a quite wide range of porners, from the standards Vivid types to Pat Collins, Joey Silvera.

New 2257 Law Freaks Out AdultDVDTalk

Steph writes:

For those of you who don't check polls - please see this poll about the future of adt due to proposed section 2257 record keeping changes.

Reviewers - We may have to remove all screenshots from our site. So it's not worth your time right now to create additional screenshots.

Webspace Users - We will not be able to host any websites with sexually explicit images.

Studios - Please keep sex acts on the backs of covers. Otherwise sites like ours and retailers who don't have the resources to keep detailed records will not be able to display your covers. If we know that a certain studio sometimes puts sex acts on the front cover it will be easier for us to remove all the covers from that studio as we don't have the resources to examine every cover.

Wiggle Stick 2002 writes:

Steph, It very specifically states that this records rule change applies to "whoever produces" the material, and: "does not include distribution or any other activity which does not involve hiring, contracting for (,) managing, or otherwise arranging for the participation of the performers depicted" This site has nothing to do with the production of anything, so why do you believe that it is going to require changes to this site?

Drew Black responds:

A producer can be primary or secondary. From the definition of secondary producer in the new rule: A secondary producer is any person who produces, assembles, manufactures, publishes, duplicates, reproduces, or reissues a book, magazine, periodical, film, videotape, a computer-generated image, digital image, or picture, or other matter intended for commercial distribution that contains a visual depiction of actual sexually explicit conduct, or who inserts on a computer site or service a digital image of, or otherwise manages the content of a computer site or service that contains a visual depiction of, actual sexually explicit conduct, including any person who enters into a contract, agreement, or conspiracy to do any of the foregoing.

This site falls specifically within the boldface criteria and therefore will be required to maintain records.

Drew Black writes:

I was just reading the proposed section 2257 record keeping changes and I'm a bit freaked out. In a nutshell, the new rules would make it practically impossible for us to keep and maintain records for all of the items listed in the price search on this site. At a very minimum all of the screenshots will be removed. We may also have to remove many (most?) of the boxcovers. This could happen in as little as 55 days. Would you still visit ADT if we had no screenshots or boxcover images?

Tricia Devereaux writes:

I've talked to several internet sites that have ALREADY spoken to their lawyers about this.

It does apply to any site who posts pictures of sexually explicit things. Not nudity, but sexually explicit. I admit that I am not sure what the government considers sexually explicit for a photo. A spread shot of a pussy? Masturbation? Or does it need to involve more than one person doing something sexual? Needless to say, this is a question that I need to find out a definite answer from, preferably from a lawyer.

As for Steph and Drew - I understand their concern. From what I remember, it was a couple years ago or so when they both quit their jobs to be able to run ADT full-time. If the business-side of ADT was hurt because of this, it could mean that they would have to stop devoting all their time to ADT, and potentially ADT would no longer exist as we are used to seeing it.

I'm also happy to hear Gonzophile bring up a possible shortterm solution that I also thought of and was hinting at in my previous post. From what I've heard from some other site owners, posting links to images does not make the site posting the link a secondary producer of that image. So a price search or a review of a movie with no boxcover, but a link to one on either the studio's site or a retail site, as far as I could tell, would serve the purpose of letting a person see the cover (with an additional page view), AND of not putting you at risk of non-compliance.

There are studio reps active here on ADT in various levels of participation from MANY of the major adult studios. We all value ADT, some on mostly a business level, some on a personal level also. I for one will say that anything I can do to make the switch easier (if the bill becomes law), I will do my best.

Look on the bright side - our government is so messed up, that this is not going to happen overnight, so there will be some time for adjustment. Also, I don't know what percentage of your business end is from novelties and what is from videos, but I would make a guess that some is from novelties. Pictures of novelties don't fall under 2257. I mentioned this to Drew in an email, but I wanted to say it here too: Hang in there - the whole industry is going through the same thing.

EFF Publishes Patent Hit List

From Wired.com:

The Electronic Frontier Foundation is spoiling for a fight, and on Wednesday it named the top 10 patents it wants killed, or at least redefined.

The EFF said all 10 patents are in some way illegitimate and are being used to limit free expression.

As part of its Patent Busting Project, the EFF in mid-June began soliciting the public for submissions of patents that were both potentially invalid and used to stifle online innovation. The organization received nearly 200 suggestions, 10 of which it will now formally ask the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to re-examine.

Homegrown Video's Response To CE Cash

Farrell Timlake writes on GFY:

Please be advised that CEcash (Trade News Corporation, N.V.) has decided that it will no longer promote the www.homegrownvideo.com website and that effective immediately it is terminating its marketing relationship with homegrownvideo (TM). As a CEcash affiliate and pursuant to paragraph 3 of the affiliate agreement between you and CEcash you must therefore immediately remove all CEcash 'homegrown' program materials, including any banners and text links that advertise the homegownvideo.com website via any CEcash affiliate program.

This came as surprising news since I had to hear it first from one of our now FORMER affiliates on a web board... All I can really say right now is thanks to all the people that have supported Homegrown Video. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. A more official response will be forthcoming.

I am truly humbled by the kindness and generousity of these posts! This news really caught us off guard and I only expected very negative backlash. My thanks reaches to the heavens and returns twice as gracious.

How the hell could Timlake be caught by surprise on this? Homegrown has sued CE, and publicly and severely criticized CE, so why should they be surprised that CE is terminating its relationship with Homegrown. I have no dog in this fight but I certainly wasn't surprised by this news. I yawned when I read it on AVN.com.

I constantly bash AVN. So am I surprised when its publisher, president and editor tell porners not to speak to me? No way. Am I surprised when they run a story trashing me without calling me first for a response? No way. I constantly write things critical of the porn industry. So am I surprised when porn people get mad at me? No way. I refuse to take orders on what is legitimate for me to cover as a journalist. Am I surprised that few people want to hire me? No way. If I run stories bashing Ron Levi and CE Cash, am I surprised that they don't return my emails? No way. There are a lot of porn people who I've run devastating articles about. They have never responded directly to me. Will I be surprised when I've found out how they've worked behind the scenes to get back at me? No way.

I used to use the Homegrown/CE webmaster program and it converted gangbusters for me.

The feedback here is incredible and I hope that whatever we do going forward that we will do it in a way that honors your generosity and faith in Homegrown.

We are still in a state of uncertainity and frankly shocked by CE's announcement; we do not know what we will do exactly because this took us completely by surprise. I do know that we must weigh all options in the interest of maintaining and growing our business.

Latinafind writes on GFY: "Truly bizarre."

What the hell was bizarre about CE's decision? I'm laughing at all the mystified responses on GFY to this CE decision. It's the most obvious decision in the world and one that most businessmen would have taken. Why would you want to stay in business with someone who sues you and criticizes you publicly? I see nothing wrong with Homegrown suing and criticizing CE and Voice Media. They're lawsuits make compelling reading.

I just don't think they should expect to stay in business with the 800 pound gorilla. If I sued Paramount, I'd expect them to come down on me like a ton of bricks. I wouldn't expect them to make my next movie (though in Hollywood, you do do business all the time with people you've sued).

We are still waiting for some kind of official notice from CE... I still only have third party hearsay to go on... and that notice to affiliates only affected that aspect of the relationship so we are confused and trying to find out what is going on.

Farrell, why weren't you prepared for the obvious?

Mike AI writes: "HomeGrown made a mistake by working with a snake. Glad they have free themselves and I look forward to doing business with them in the future!"

MikeB_CE writes:

This matter is currently before the courts and therefore CECASH will make only a very limited statement. The termination of the CECASH affiliate program for homegrownvideo.com is precipitated by the actions of Homegrownvideo in repudiating its agreements and filing a lawsuit against Trade News, the owner of CECASH. The reaction of the representatives of Homegrown on this board are remarkable and in our opinion reflective of the disingenuous character and tenure of their lawsuit given the fact that Homegrown is seeking in its own court documents to prevent CECASH from "...marketing...or issuing passwords for access to the www.homegrownvideo.com site..." The actions of CECASH in terminating the affiliate program are therefore directly in line with the Homegrownvideo's own wishes and actions.

Farrell Timlake writes:

All I can say is that what is on the public record reflects clearly the many issues that we have with CE that they would not resolve when we asked nicely first.

I am very sorry to see that Mike B has to put the spin on for CE since he was well aware of our efforts to rectify many of those issues before we became obligated by CE's actions to seek legal remedy.

The Judge said clearly on the record that she "would have likely granted the injunction". CE can act as though they shut us down in response to our suit, but the record clearly shows that they were unwilling to do it when we requested that they do so because of their abusive practices and egregious actions.

The fact that they took it down without notifying us or negotiating any sort of appropriate plan for closing down the program demonstrates a lack of concern for "doing the right thing" by us or our affiliates. They can spin this any way they like but the facts will continue to speak for themselves.

We have no problem that they took it down.... That is what we sought all along as a remedy so we count that as a victory in our ongoing efforts...

We were just surprised that when they finally did, and in light of our legal status, that they did not bother to tell us first or give us a chance to make any statement except in response to their abrupt notice.

We wanted them to take it down and they kept refusing, then they did it out of the blue. under the circumstances you figure that they would've noticed our attorney first. no big deal. not surprise in terms of horror. surprise in terms of humor.

Tyler Cash On Lara Roxx

James DiGiorgio writes on www.simplyjimmyd.com:

My business partner, Tyler Cash (or TC as most know him), became a bit incensed after reading the Canadian Time Magazine article about Lara Roxx. He decided to write a letter to the editor of Time. Here's what he had to say:

"It's not a good sign when publications that have earned the trust of millions of subscribers--from years of accurate and timely reporting--switches direction and goes tabloid.

Your Canadian "HERO," Lara Roxx, is anything but a "HERO." What you printed in regards to her being some sort of hero is completely false.

Whatever happened to "truth in journalism?" Be honest! Your magazine simply couldn't help being a whore to that issue-selling keyword: PORN. You knew that porn would attract readers and their interest and that is why you're exploiting both the word and the unfortunate young woman who has tested HIV Positive.

Perhaps you should consider publishing a retraction of this story in next month's edition because, to be honest with you, I don't think most Canadians are as stupid as you seem to think they are.

(JimmyD sez: I don't think Quasarman would agree, but ok...)

Here are some suggested corrections:

1. "Under the hot lights of an adult-film set in Los Angeles..."

Lara Roxx performed in "gonzo" style sex scenes. For the most part, this means the nearest "hot lights" on any sort of real "set" may have been a mainstream soundstage in Burbank or Hollywood. In fact, it's more likely a 100 Watt bulb was used; and 100 Watt bulbs don't put out much heat. Another small correction: the scene was most likely filmed in or around Chatsworth, California, and not L.A.

2. " .producers confronted Montrealer Lara Roxx with a stark choice: Either have unprotected anal sex with two actors or lose the $1,300 job"

So let me get this straight...You propose to your readers that porn producers assemble a bunch of porn stars (who show up on the day of the shoot hoping to get some work) and then they "confront" them with what they want them to do (not knowing if they are willing to do it are not), dangle a monetary carrot in front of them, and wait and see who bites?

Are you guys smoking crack up in Canada? You aren't doing your job and that's a fact. In other words, you're not checking facts nor insuring the content of your stories are accurate.

Apparently, you don't understand that--prior to even talking to a girl like Lara Roxx--a producer looks at her picture and a description of what she is willing and not willing to do. She then is hired or not hired based on the information SHE provided. Do your research and check out some of the adult modeling sites that supply the majority of talent to this industry and see for yourself.

3. "Her story helped grind Los Angeles' porn production to a halt for a month and may eventually change the very nature of the $9 billion industry, which employs 6,000 people and produces 4,000 videos every year."

Wrong again! It was the industry reacting to the first news that a male talent (Darren James) had tested postive for HIV. That's what grinded the industry to a halt. And as far as what changes may or may not take place as a result of this tragic event, those changes will come from inside the industry. Not to sound callous, but Ms. Roxx is not and will not be the sole catalyst for any potential changes. The same goes double for her Attorney, Mr. Lighter.

4. "Lighter says. "Her situation is almost a result of her naivete," he says. "But she's come out of this with a plan." The porn industry should be grateful."

Lara Roxx's situation is the result of her own doing. It may have been greed, or it may have been lust for stardom, or maybe she was just trying to escape an abusive past from abusive parents. I think it's great, though, she's come out of it with a plan. It's a shame the plan involves Mr. Lighter, who appears to be unenlighted when it comes to facts.

And what does he mean, "the porn industry should be grateful!" Sounds like a threat to me. Instead of making threats he can't keep, he should be looking into why this happened: Lara Roxx left her home in Montreal, Canada, and traveled thousands of miles to the other side of the North America for the sole reason of finding a way into the adult industry. I'd like to see a copy of Lara Roxx's U.S. work visa. I'm sorry, I just don't find any evidence that she was made a victim.

Perhaps you can do your job and correct the rest of your article because the misreporting continues.

Before I close, I'd like to enlighten you to few things that might help you do a better job when you next decide to report on something from the dark side: This type of reckless reporting always has a downside. It turns away readers who can read between the lines and who take exception to being spoon-fed BS when they hunger for the truth.

Lara Roxx is not a "HERO." She is, however, a very unfortunate young woman who has now paid a heavy price for a decision she alone made. No one in the adult industry intended for this to happen to her or anyone else. Regardless of the safeguards that are in place (in the adult industry), to prevent such a thing from happening there will always be a risk; a risk that performers know about and accept.

You may think your article serves the best interest of Canadian citizens but I believe you are wrong. All this article does is give cause to untold numbers of young Canadian women to start packing their bags because there's gold out there in California. porn gold. And its waiting for them. All they have to do is spread their butt cheeks and say "Ahhhh." It's like money in the bank.

All because of blockbusting, and the tendency of violence-averse Jews to flee at the first sign of trouble. And that's what you orthodox jews have done here - shvartze Luke shows up, and you run like a bunch of sissy yeshiva boys.

Tabitha Stevens Update

I heard a wild rumor she was getting married. She calls me Tuesday to set me straight.

"Nobody," she laughs. "No. I'm not getting married. I've been single and living by myself for the past year. I can't even date to save my life. If you know any cute guys I could go out with. I haven't gone on the road [dancing] in I don't know how long. I haven't shot a movie in three years. I mostly do Howard Stern and make appearances signing. I was supposed to be on Howard this week but we changed it to next week. So I'm in New York. I have stuff to do for Revolver [Maxim-like] magazine. I'm involved in all these different projects. In adult, you make a helluva lot more money than you do in mainstream but it's fun.

"Is the whole AIDS scare gone?"

"Yes. If I do one, it will have to be a big project. I will let you know so you can come on set. If I'm doing it, I'm not doing it half-assed. It has to be really big and fun. And I would be in every single scene.

"I've been working with The Erotic Network for a few years.

"I do plastic surgery all the time. They had me on this show, Dr 90210, on the E! channel. I can't wait until it airs. But I didn't like the doctor. I thought he was a dick. I told him too. I was nice about it on air. He didn't know how to do botox. All right, I'm going back to my regular doctor to do this. I've got a bunch of stuff coming up. I'm going to take an inch off my waist."

"What are you doing on Howard Stern?"

"A date thing. It's the craziest thing. I got really lucky with Howard Stern. I've done 14 in-studio appearances, on TV. That's not including phoners. I've made friends with all the people who work there. I don't know why. Maybe because I'm honest and I don't swear on air.

"Everybody asks me, what have you been doing? And the answer is, whatever the hell I want. I just like to make people happy and to be happy.

"I was married and divorced three times before I was 30. I've had six boob jobs, three nose jobs, and I'm doing a nose implant and a chin implant.

"My hair is a deep brown with tiny carmel highlights. I have a new hairdresser. We went really dark. My eyes look really blue. They're real. My teeth are fake.

"I was dating someone who liked short hair and so I cut all my hair off. Now it is down to the middle of my back. I ended up breaking up with him."

Sin City Update

XXX writes: Sin City is doing the best it has done in years, all's quiet down there and running like sh-t downhill. We have satellite deals with both Playboy and TeN, Mayhem line is selling well and we are the first company to distribute our movies over the internet via peer to peer networking just like KAAZA but Sin City gets paid for each download. David has settled with his old Israeli friend Ari Ovadia. So no more Paul Cambria legal bills. The whole AIDS 60 day moratorium is over so productions are back in swing, so things are good.

Lensman's All-Star Team

Lensman of Adult.com seems to want to assemble an all-star team on his payroll. The guy pays well and like clockwork. He wants the category killer. He wants to knock YNOTmasters off the top spot for resource sites. He wants the number one news site. He'll probably hire someone soon to run Adultbeat.

"Why would he want that?" asks a porn observer. "Gossip sites are more trouble than they are worth. He's got traffic. Why would he need more traffic from a gossip site? It would be a liability for him."

Alien the designer told Lensman to f--k off on ICQ

Mutt writes on GFY: "That really doesn't sound like Alien - he's a screwball but never seen anything out of him like that."

Jacko tells Duke: "Consumption Junction doesn't have money to burn by awarding $10,000 for the person who posts the most in a thread. No wonder Lens wanted to kill off that annoying thread. People were spamming it. It was the dumbest thing you've ever seen. They had bots hitting it with spam. Alien had posted the most. Lens told him to let the thread die quietly, which meant nobody was going to get $10,000, which it what I expected from day one."

Recollecting in Tranquility

A few months ago, I had a flirtation over the phone and online (never in person) with a beautiful shiksa. She was 22 and she told me she was majoring in "media studies" at a community college. We talked a lot about spirituality. I asked her opinion of Dennis Prager's essays on "Why young women are exposing themselves." Part Two.

She replied: "Hmm, Bassicly that guy covered all the basis. I myself am self contios and hate getting in a bathing suit and try to hide my tits so if I hade the body I did when I was 16 I would tastfully wear less clothes, and I hate when girls show there stomach. But I think Its all over thought, you should dress how you feal without embarassing yourself, you know! Some girls just have no stlye or class and the kind of attention they want they will get. Being a parriniod hermite I prefer no eyes on me most the time. Anyways, how are you, I am in Ixtapa, the pretures of everyday life forced me to once again flee the country. The good news is I went to a very spirituil city for Samana Santa and went to a very nice church to pray. I also went to a rodeo and a cock fight, I plane to go to an Island today because Its getting boring. What have you been up to. Oh yah I wrote a great little story on the city of Petatlan and I have pictures."

I asked her what she was passionate about. She replied: "Luke, I really don't open up for most people but I like you! I am passionate about making love, I mean really being hate f-cked, chocked out, smacked around and verbally abused. I also love Jesus Criste and every morning I wake up and cook me some Farmer John honey baked ham with a side of yeast. It taste so good in my mouth, It makes me just sooo horny! I am also masturbate to Woody Alan movies."

It made me sad that this girl was so pressed by her need to get a job that she didn't have the time to fully develop her writing abilities. Today I found out she is in prison, charged with cocaine trafficking. She could get ten years. At least now she will have the time to recollect in tranquility and make a contribution to modern American literature.

Are There Too Many Porn Stars?

Fast Eddie writes:

I'm constantly amazed that almost every day I read this board and see someone inquire about a girl I've never heard of... and I consider myself to be somewhat of an authority on porn; I've been whacking off to it for long, long time. Has it gotten to the point where there are just too many girls doing porn?

Not to be unkind, but so many girls I see doing videos these days would be lucky to get picked up in a bar before the lights come up for last call. Maybe I'm showing my age, but I'm partial to the time when a pornstar was bigger than life; big hair, sexy makeup and false eye-lashes, three-inch bright red painted fingernails, six-inch "cum f-ck me" heels... Taylor Wayne, Seka, Tori Well, Keisha, Amber Lynn, etc. were my idea of a pornstar.

If the girl dresses in jeans and T-shirts and looks like someone you'd meet at a local bar, where's the fantasy? Shouldn't a pornstar stop traffic and cause heads to turn when she walks down the street in a mini-skirt and high heel pumps?

I guess my question is, has the demand for product so diluted the talent pool that the fantasy aspect is gone, or is it just that it's changed with the times, and I haven't? While I'm not a big fan of condom only movies, I still enjoy the Vivid and Wicked releases because to me their stars still look like what a pornstar should look like. Jenna, Stormy, Jill Kelly and Brianna... now that's who I'd call a pornstar. Just wondering...

Strippers off hook

Charges dropped; prostitution was alleged in clubs.

The exotic dancers and strip club managers busted last month in prostitution sting operations will not face criminal charges, District Attorney Kamala Harris announced Thursday.

The decision angered police officers, who contend that their investigations clearly demonstrated that prostitution and code enforcement laws are being flagrantly violated at several of The City's 17 strip clubs.

"Basically what the District Attorney is saying to the pimps, the panderers and traffickers of women is, 'Keep doing what you're doing because we're not going to do anything about it,'" said Capt. Tim Hettrich, who heads up the vice and narcotics division.

Autumn Rayne writes: "The Market Street Cinema still has the Lawmakers in thier pockets so to speak...guess I will go back to feature there someday after all!"

Are porn stars addicted to a life of drama?

Smelly Monkey writes:

In the past week there have been reports that Chasey Lain's drug dealer boyfriend/pimp was murdered and that her husband and baby are on the run. Along the way he has threatened to kill either chasey or their child or both. Which has made me think about some of the other similar relationships and situations other high class porn stars have found themselves a part of in recent years.

Then it lead me to the question I pose now, 'Are porn stars addicted to a life of drama?'. I mean I'm sure when chasey decided to have a child (or forget to take her birth control pills?) with this drug dealer boyfriend she knew it wasn't going to have a happen ending, there wasn't going to be any home with a white picket fence, no 2.3 happy children playing in the front yard, no normality in her life. Yet she puts herself in this position, to be in a failed relationship and a life of drama. She isn't alone in doing this, it was only a few years ago when taylor hayes went out with john wayne bobbit. A man who is a borderline rapist, woman beater and career criminal (not to mention what he is infamous for). Then there is Briana Banks and Bobby Vitale, a man who is well aware of what the inside of a jail cell looks like and has shown an aggressive side towards women (I'm not saying he has beaten women before but some comments he has made it wouldn't surprised me if that was the case) who has also battled his demons with the bottle and drugs. Another example of my theory is Janine and Jesse James. Is it just pornstars that are unlucky in love or is there something drawing them to relationships that deep down they know will fail and lead to a life of drama.

ANOTHER GIFTED ARTIST MAKES ART OUT OF PORN

James DiGiorgio writes on www.simplyjimmyd.com:

The July/August issue of American Photo magazine includes a porn-related story. I don't usually find porn stories in this magazine-and I read most of its 6 yearly issues-so I was kind of surprised when, thumbing through the pages, I came upon a pic of Mister Marcus standing, naked, in the doorway of some non-descript shooting house. That certainly got my attention!

I backed up a page or two to find the beginning of the story. That's when I found a photo of my good friend, the beautiful Rebecca Lord, in her back yard with her boxers. No, I didn't say "in her boxers." I said "with her boxers," i.e, her dogs.

The article, written by Jeffrey Elbies, is this issue's "Inside Photography" feature. Elbies' porn story is titled: "In Focus: Larry Sultan Photographs Home Sweet American Home-In Which Porn Films Happen to be Shot."

Here's how the article begins: "California's San Fernando Valley is for fine-art photographer Larry Sultan what Victorian London was for Charles Dickens or 1940s Los Angeles was for Raymond Chandler: a real place whose psychic dimensions give an uneasy form to life."

I guess that's a literary way of saying that gifted artist Larry Sultan (after all, Larry's being subtly compared to Dickens and Chandler) was slumming when he took all these porn pics at porn sets for his coffee table book, "Larry Sultan: The Valley."

The article also notes that Larry's porn location photo-art will be on display at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art through August 1. Hmmm. that's the second time this week I've posted something about porn qualifying as art.

Personally, I kind of took exception to Mr. Elbies' opening, ostentatious words, so let me get this off my chest: f-ck you, Jeffrey! Okay, I feel better.

Anyway, the piece talks about Sultan's five-years of photographing porn sets in the Valley. American Photo's Elbies comments on Sultan's five-year stint, claiming Sultan's work will result ".in what is sure to be one of the most talked-about photo projects of the year."

Do any of you porn people suddenly feel like a backward citizen of a Third World nation that's been visited by some guy who's akin to a prestigious National Geographic photographer? I know I do.

In the article, Sultan is quoted as saying, "I was using porn as a decoy, a way of looking at our desires." Ya think, Larry? Ya really think porn's about looking at our desires? Gee! Why didn't WE think of that? Good thing you came along to show everyone what this sh-t we do is about.

Here's some more from the story: "Sultan says that getting the trust of the porn actors was not that difficult."

I'm sure it wasn't, Larry. Not for a gifted artist like you dealing with a bunch of dumb-sh-t porn Carnies like us. "You use code words to describe what you're doing," he (Sultan) says. "I would just say I was shooting 'behind the scenes.'" In other words, Larry, you gained everyone's trust by resorting to lies and deception.

At the end of the article, Sultan tries his best to say something nice about us porn aliens, but in the very end, he takes a last, little stab at what we do. Sultan says, "There are lots of stereotypes about porn people, and some are true," he (Sultan) says. "But many don't bear any resemblance to what I saw. There was lots of goodwill and camaraderie on the sets. The actors and crew talk about retirement plans and child care-what people at work talk about." In other words, what we do doesn't really qualify as work. huh Larry?

Sultan continues: "Then you realize you're on a porn set, and you realize there is this total sense of dislocation." I agree, Lar... It feels like you just woke up from a really weird and whacky dream only to find you're still in some weird and whacky dream. (Sigh)

I just love it when real people come to the Porn Zoo and then share their experiences and insights with all the rest of the real people out there. It's so, uhmm. real and insightful.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE, PART 2

Mike Albo writes on Adult Stars News:

Leave it to Luke to ponder the most inane topics. Consider his lat night e-mail to me... "Who do you think is the highest paid employee in porn in CA? I'm guessing Jim Kohls, maybe $250,000?"

Luke, you have the unerring ability to ask me questions for which I have no answer or interest. I think you're low-balling Jim Kohls, a man who is the living embodiment of the adage "Only assholes drive Porsches." However, I can assure you, without doubt or hesitation, that I am not in Jim's tax bracket. And, since you get what you pay for, how the f-ck would I know anything?

Top Five Net Player An Alcoholic

How come there are so many drug users and heavy drinkers among the biggest players in porn?

Is this disproportionate to business success in the real world?

I keep hearing reports on someone I know moderately well, a top five Net player, that he is an alcoholic who uses cocaine at webmaster shows.

Almost a month after a federal judge called for arbitration in a New Destiny Internet Group infringement suit against Trade News, Voice Media Inc., and Internet Business Services, Trade News said it was closing its CE Cash affiliate program for New Destiny's HomegrownVideo.com, and countersuing.

Trade News official Gary Luedke said they decided June 28 to close and countersue based on New Destiny's February lawsuit alleging copyright and trademark infringement against Trade News, VMI, and IBS.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE?

Mike Albo writes on Adult Stars News:

I always knew that Aussie-geek Luke was nuts, but I don't think I ever truly gauged the depths of his insanity until he sent me the the following e-mail yesterday.

Mike, Are you concerned about LA's absence of shared myths, symbols and collective narrative? If so, what are you doing about it? Sincerely, Luke

Huh? To paraphrase Elvis in Jailhouse Rock, "Lukey, I don't know what the hell you're talkin' about."

Besides being a pretty gay topic to broach with another guy, it's ignorant. My suggestion? Head out to Union Station, cross Alameda and go to Olvera Street. Check out the old town plaza. Better, pay a visit to Mission San Gabriel. Take a trip up Azusa Canyon past Morris Dam. Better yet, just open your eyes. Los Angeles is crawling with "shared myths" and history, you f-cking tourist.

Asia Carrera's Pregnant

Don and I are very excited about having a baby together, but I have no delusions about what pregnancy is going to do to my already hyper-inflated ass, and it does get awfully depressing to have to keep looking at pics of "Super Slim and Sexy Asia"! I'm actually perfectly content puttering around the house playing housewife and planning for baby, and Don is so loving and sweet to me every day that I really don't mind that I'm not a glamorous centerfold anymore. It's only when I have to sit and sort through all my old pics for the paysection or pic of the week updates that I start feeling bad about myself, because I don't look like ME anymore! I've cut my hair, I've put on weight, I'm 30 years old now, and I'm going to be a mommy... I'm really NOT "Asia Carrera the Pornstar" anymore, which makes me sad, but I guess all good things must come to an end, right?

Best Drugs For Watching Porn

No Spam writes on RAME:

I prefer alcohol. If I'm sober (and the porn is really hot) I can only watch and wank a short time before I come. But if I drink a few beers I can get into a zone where I'm buzzed enough to delay coming for about two hours and when I do get off it's quite the nice pop. Obviously, too much alcohol makes it tough to get hard. But for me, a few drinks works well.

I've never tried Viagra right before watching porn, because I don't need it to get hard. But I did experiment once or twice with "recreational" Viagra use during f-ckfests with my sweetie. The results were as expected. But I was in for a surprise 24 hours later when I fired up the DVD player for a little porn viewing. The Viagra still had quite the effect and it was like being 17 years old again. At least in terms of getting wood. Unlike when I was 17, I had no trouble postponing my orgasm. Now if I'd just had that combination years ago with the high school chicks . . .

Babydol: She's Back!

Former Hollywood Madam Reinvents Herself as Fashion Designer By Caroline Ryder

"All I wanted to do was make videos for MTV," sighs Jody 'Babydol' Gibson. We're in her Beverly Hills apartment and items from her new Babydol collection are draped everywhere. The line is being debuted at this month's Golden Needle charity awards at the Regent Beverly Wilshire, where she is competing for the title of "Best Fashion Designer". Her gregarious Sergeant Pepper-style jackets and fur-trimmed jeans are something of a "John Galliano meets Los Angeles" fusion, as she puts it. "I would love to see Christina Aguilera or Britney Spears in my stuff," she giggles, huge brown eyes framed by bottle-blonde tresses.

Fashion is just the latest chapter in the extraordinary life of Jody 'Babydol' Gibson, who was released from prison last year after her high-class escort service was busted by police.

A wannabe pop star, Babydol moved to Los Angeles in 1984 from New York's Upper East Side, fed up after years in the shadow of her talent manager mother Tobe Gibson who discovered Tom Cruise n and soap star sister Amy.

By day, she was Babydol, pushing relentlessly for a piece of the celebrity pie, spending thousands on studio time and song rights. She even had her own billboard on Sunset Boulevard overlooking the Chateua Marmont for a month, at a cost of $25,000. It read 'Babydol.coming soon'.

Chasey Lain's Mob Boyfriend Gunned Down In SF

From SFgate.com:

"Dmitriy'd been bouncing from town to town for weeks." L.A., Vegas, Frisco. "He wants to get out of Dodge. He's helping his porn-star girlfriend, Chasey Lain, get custody of her kid."

"The cops also told me Dima had a porn-star girlfriend."

"I personally have the privilege to know that woman. She's very manipulative. She's telling him she'll introduce him to Dr. Dre. and P. Diddy.

"She is probably my age. Her brain didn't function that well to know his age. She was not a girlfriend. How is that possible? I have been telling my kid, with this kind of girl, you can get a headache."

Chasey Lain is obviously not her favorite subject...

"What about Chasey Lain?" I had checked her out online, where I learned that she was, "a beautiful goddess," who had "several award-winning performances for Vivid Video," which offered a $49.95 three-pack of Chasey classics. If you wanted to see her in "Interview with a Vibrator," though, you had to buy it individually.

"I haven't been able to locate her," Stasko said. "Apparently she isn't where she's supposed to be. People don't even know how she fits in. There's been a lack of cooperation in talking to some people in this case."

"I finally caught up with the porno queen, down in L.A.," Stasko said in early April. "She's scared. She's on antidepressants and god knows what else. Eyes dilated. Mouth dry. She told me Dmitriy threatened the life of her kid. But everything else we heard, he was trying to help her get custody. And she's got Dmitriy's name tattooed on her wedding ring finger, in scroll.
