Vivid Halloween Party
2002-10-31 23:41:50

The party started at 9PM.

Hugh Hefner showed up around 10PM with half a dozen Playboy Playmates.

Shaggy, a big Jamaican reggae star, showed. He had last year's biggest reggae song, "It wasn't me."

The wait to get in lasted up to an hour for people on the low end of the prestige bar.

Steve Hirsch and the Vivid executives arrived around 11PM.

Director Michael Bay, all 6'5" of him showed. Before he married, he went through almost every blonde porn star including Houston.

I arrived at 8:20 PM. Luckily I brought a book on tape that I listened to through my Walkman - Johnathan Franzen's Connections.

I stood beside the rope on the walk in with half a dozen paparazzi photographers. A Los Angeles Times photographer went straight inside.

A few stars from TV reality shows like Big Brother appeared (black guy Marcellus Reynolds and white girl Lisa Donahue).

Tori Spelling was one of the few stars who refused to pose for pictures for the paparrazi.

I only recognized a handful of porn stars including Wicked director Brad Armstrong with date Stormy, a new Wicked girl. Sydney Steele came. She had a big Afro and didn't want to be photographed.

Scott Fayner from Hustler walked in early.

Sheera, a girl I know from Jewish singles life, walked in.

The desperation by the people outside to get in was palpable and a quick measure of a person's status. The less status, the longer the wait.

A guy walked up and told the security guards, "I'm the owner." Guard didn't know him. Called over another guard, who said, "I don't know you sir."

Five minutes later, he got in.

Men stood with their dates, trying to demonstrate their pull by getting into the party.

It seems pathetic to me that people over 30 years old still want to go to these things.

MFSD writes on www.theeroticreview.com: I saw a piece on TV the other day. Hugh Hefner was giving a guided tour of the Playboy mansion and surrounding grounds. While interesting to me, in the sense of, this is how a rich, famous guy lives, the closet full of pajamas and smoking jackets was a bit silly.

As much as I admire the guy for his ground breaking lifestyle, the image of this 75 year old cavorting with his cavalcade of post pubescent betty boops, is getting a bit tired. I mean really, what in the world does he talk to these women about, the majority of which are young enough to be his grandaughters.

I spoke with a gal who has visited the mansion and knows one of Hef's 20 something girlfriends. Her take was the mansion wasn't all that, Hef was downing viagra by the box, his "act" was a bit lame, but that he was basically a nice, generous man.

Hef get out the PJs, buy some dockers and top siders, stop insuinating you're the world's greatest stud, and date a woman who's only young enough to be your daughter.

Director Michael Bay and his stunner girlfriend Lisa Dergan worked their way through the crushing, costumed crowd -- a human nightstand, a flock of French maids, a towering Anna Nicole Smith -- to a series of "interactive rooms" where scantily clad porn actors entertained passers-by with suggestive antics.

Out in the back parking lot, the Lakers' Rick Fox (as Santa Claus), hip-hop artist Shaggy (as himself) and Tori Spelling (as a genie?) mingled among hundreds more as several naked women dazzled the crowd from a small stage.

The Halloween party in West Hollywood, a 1,000-strong affair with a modest budget of about $35,000, was a group effort, funded by adult film giant Vivid Video Inc. and co-hosted by hotel heiress Paris Hilton, Flaunt magazine and Pony sportswear. It brought out a motley mass of actors, writers, rock star progeny (Jack Osbourne and Ahmet Zappa) and exotic dancers.

"This is the only party where the porn stars dress like lawyers," said guest Josh Etting, a writer for the WB's "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment."

Bay, himself an experienced partygoer, was trying to make sense of it all. "What is this place?" he asked. "We've been walking around for the last 10 minutes trying to figure out whose party this is!" Dergan nodded furiously, her eyes wide.

The event was held at the Live Acts Video Inc. building on Beverly Boulevard, a two-story place with blank white walls where couples rent out theme rooms (a dentist's office, a barn, a psychedelic lounge, a Pottery Barn bedroom) to create their own videos.

The most popular room on Thursday night was the dungeon, where an enormous bare-chested man flogged a blindfolded, topless woman. With each strike, voyeur Tori Spelling cringed and then giggled.

AVN.com reported: VAN NUYS, Calif. - Vivid Girls Sunrise Adams and Taya joined hotel heiresses Paris and Nicky Hilton and several celebrities at Vivid's Halloween bash in West Hollywood.

Vivid, Flaunt magazine and Pony Sportswear sponsored the event at the two-story Live Acts Video building that attracted a crowd including Hugh Hefner, Lakers forward Rick Fox, Vin Diesel, Tori Spelling and hip-hop artist Shaggy.

"We were expecting about 700 but we ended up with about 1,000," T.J. DiReda, director of marketing and publicity for Vivid, told AVN.com.

Other personalities spotted included Jaime Pressly, Brittany Murphy, Mickey Rourke, Jack Osbourne, Ahmet Zappa, director Michael Bay, Lisa Dergan and Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson.
