Ex-Porn Star Wanted For Murder

English Language Publisher Sought For Great Book On Private

Thomas Sjoberg, thomas-sjoberg@swipnet.se, a Swedish journalist who's written a book on Berthe Milton Jr and Sr and their Private corporation, seeks an English language publisher for his work.

Private Affairs - A summary In November 1998 Private shares began to be sold at the Berlin Stock Exchange (Berliner Freiverkehr). Germany is Private's most important European market. A few months later Private had been accepted for trading on the U.S. Nasdaq National Market as the first adult entertainment company to be listed on the largest stock market in the world.

The global market for adult entertainment - video, strip joints, magazines, phone sex, escort service, cable-, satellite- and pay-TV, CD-ROM, Internet etc - was calculated by Private to be worth some 50 billion dollars in 1998. At least 30 of them should belong to the company, which released 70 new videos a year, distributed through some 50,000 points of sales, and toward the end of 1998 Private had over 210 titles in its library. The four magazines - Private, Pirate, Triple X, Private Sex - were printed in hundres of thousands of copies and were pumped into the market through 180,000 points of sale around the globe, even in countries like Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Zimbabwe and the Seychelles. Add to all this two, three new CD-ROM each month, the new DVD-techique and all Privates other products like street wear and latex clothes, leather garnments, sunglasses, energy drink, sex aids, fragrances, sex stimulating pills, condoms.

In Private's application for the listing on Nasdaq's National Market, the American porn market was presented, and thus Private's chances to succed in the U.S. In 1996 the American people spent more than eight billion dollars on hard core videos, peep shows, live shows, cable-TV, sex aids, computer sex and sex magazines. There were more than 60,000 video film retailers and more than 25,000 of these rented films. The total sale of hard core videos was in 1997 more than 828 billion dollars.

There were four major cable-TV operators: Tele-Communications Inc., Time Warner Cable, MediaOne and Comcast. There were the soft core channels Playboy TV, AdulTVision, Spice Channel and The Adam & Eve Channel. And there were the seven hard core channels: Eurotica, Exotica, Exxxtasy, True Blue, X!, Xxxcite and XXXplore. The market for CD-ROM was estimated to some 300 million dollars a year.

The real potential is Internet. Private's Internet manager Björn Skärlén stated in the fall of 1999 that private.com had two million Internet visitors and 100 million hits each month. Private Club had 15,000 members doing 60,000 visits every day. They also made some 150,000 purchases a day. One year membership was 150 dollars and allowed access to private.com, Private Magazines, Private Videos, Private Style, Private Livesex, Private Channels with its videos, Private Models, Private Stars, Private Party, Private Pleasure, Private Line. Private sometimes cleaned its stock and sold old videos in package; four videos for 40 dollars.

This resulted in a turnover of 576,000 dollars the third quarter 1999, inclusive all Private's licence holders that used the company's products and hosted their own web sites. The sale through private.com increased by 45 percent each month. Add to this 250,000-300,000 dollars every month through sales on other web sites or shops that Private didn't control. The sale the same period in 1997 was maybe 30,000 dollars.

200 million people had access to Internet in the fall of 1999. In 2003 that figure would have increased to 500 millions. Private's future was definitely Internet and broadcasting. The goal was to have two million private.com members in 2003, out of a total of 500 million possible users. If so, Private would have a turnover of 300 million dollars. Around Private there is a global cooperation to make porn even more easily accessable. For instance, Spanish Telefónica, that transmit live sex-broadcastings, American Interpacket Networks, that is responsible for the satelite connection between Spain and the U.S. and Netsat Express, that provides DNS servers, and a Swedish Internet Service Provider company. Private's net sales in 2000 was 25,8 million dollars. The net income was 5,3 million. In the fall of 2001, Private was worth 450 billions dollars.

On October 6th 2000 the renowned investment bank Ladenburg Thalmann & Co in New York published a report of the Private share and Private Media Group as a company and stated that the major growth potential was the company's Internet activities.

At private.com the members had access to every magazine published since 1965 - a total of 311 titles - and more than 700 video sequences from one hundred movies. They had access to sex games, chat rooms with porn models and pre views on new releases. The traffic through the web site concisted more than 100,000 links; 2,4 million visitors and 144 visited wed sites every month.

The Private Club mailing list had over 300,000 addresses and increased with some 1,500 new ones every day. The possibility to sell this computerized address bank could be very lucrative, according to Ladenburg Thalmann. Its analyze showed that Private was in a moment in hyper growth; the digitalizing of the gigant library was only the first step. It had already been profitalble, a rare thing when it comes to Internet services. And with more than 200,000 points of sale Private operates a distribution network that reaches over 35 countries all over the world. The company was embarking on a major initiative to capture one-third of the market in wich it competes, either alone or in conjunction with other solid industry players.

"We believe that Private Media Group is extremely well-positioned - both operationally and financially - as one of the largest owners and distributors of adult content in the world. If the company can continue to execute on its business plans, we expect Private to continue to be one of the few investable companies in its industry," Ladenburg Thalmann wrote in the report.

Millennium

BERLIN Six of Private's top actresses stepped onto the stage at Metropol, Berlin's largest discotheque. They were there for one reason --- to give two thousand people something in return for their patience by showing them what it was that Private actually sells.

It was two in the morning and the people gathered there were tired of the fashion show, the laser show, the latex show. They were tired of the huge crowd and waiting forever to get a drink at the bars. They were also all riled up from spending the day a the erotic fair Venus '99, where they'd walked around the displays and stared at crotches spread wide open, naked breasts with mousetraps clamped on the nipples, anal sex, gay sex, golden showers and "normal" sex.

They'd stood in line to get autographs from porn stars. They'd posed with women in front of their friend's cameras. Some got to grab the women's tits. And they'd seen the poster for A Private Night, which promised an "erotic show" with "original Private girls" in the colossal neo-classic dance club at Nollendorfplatz 5. At this point, the party had been going on for six hours.

The tickets for the show included free drinks and the alcohol, smoke, low lights and heavy dance music were only increasing expectations. The crowd had seen Monique, Bettina, Anastasia, Caroline, Vivienne and Wanda climb all over each other on the couch next to the VIP bar, where they sat with the cherubian, cigar smoking Hungarian adult film director István Kovacs and the tiny little skin head who went by the nickname, "the porn dwarf."

Private was the biggest and best in the industry --- that's how the company marketed itself on all fronts. Biggest because their name was the world's best-known brand for hard pornography. Biggest because the company pumped out 65 films a year and was leading online development. Biggest because it existed in 35 countries around the globe. Biggest because it was the only pornography company listed on the Nasdaq exchange in the United States. And best because Private made the world's most profitable porn. Best because it was the only company in the industry to translate its films into 11 languages. And --- in order to distinguish it as better than all the rest --- best because it was the only company that didn't allow its actresses to be on display at the erotic fair.

Visitors to the fair were, of course, disappointed. It was possible for people to think that Private was distancing itself from its target group, since only trade industry types were allowed into the displays or VIP lounge --- a rule that was clearly displayed on a neon sign. But that was the way Private wanted it.

People, not least the journalists in attendance, were supposed to learn that the company didn't work like the competition. Private was all about modern business with big ambitions to spread its special lifestyle concept throughout the world. And the business was always "tremendous," the impact was always "enormous," --- Berth Milton's favorite superlatives in his interviews with the German, English and French TV channels.

If you wanted to rise out of the porn gutter, it wasn't going to happen by being vulgar. The way to do it was to prove you could mingle with the elite crowd, and that's why Private's actresses would wear clothes when clothes were appropriate and strip down only as a special treat at the end of the evening. Before Venus '99, Private's promotion manager Ole Nicolausson had it all figured out --- the actresses would definitely take their clothes off, but not before Metropol and only as the last number of the night. Until then they would represent the company in either the recently launched Danny Cook line from Private Circle or in latex from the Private Collection.

Nicolausson's strategy was to get the girls to show their personalities even when they weren't naked. Journalists and folks in the industry would see the women as interesting people to talk to and interview. The girls would then add to the suspense by surprising VIP guests during dinner at Hotel Berlin before the party, where they would hand out tickets to the evening's festivities. And thus the powerful contrast in seeing them naked on the stage at Metropol.

Ten minutes only. Anyone who missed it would have to wait a year at least to get another chance. A catwoman in red and black latex with a huge rubber dildo strapped to her hips, a couple of half-naked dark-skinned girls and the traditional group of fitness-types with their swollen muscles and washboard stomachs brought the Latex Fantasy Show to a close.

Metropol's owner had decided to go for the Egypt look. The place was filled with sphinxes and Egyptian dogs and the walls were covered in hieroglyphs. A gigantic pharaoh statue was rolled out onto the stage and on it perched Lilo Wanders, the transvestite host of the German porn show called Wa(h)re Liebe. Over the loudspeakers a voice boomed, "Let's start the music, come on Private strip girls!" and Bettina, Monique and the other actresses climbed on stage. They started dancing, fumbling at first but then more provocatively.

The view was blocked occasionally by an irritating group of photographers who zoomed in on the actresses private parts as they removed their clothes --- a top and skirt from Private's latex line --- and threw them up to Wanders on the statue. None of them were used to being on stage, so Nicolausson didn't require any solo dances. But together in the spotlights they seemed comfortable and eventually they started going wild with each other on the edge of the platform.

A guy from the crowd gave Monique a glass of wine and with a mischievous look poured the liquid over her breasts. The girls continued to dance, but the number almost too long and the actresses did their best not to look bored. The only one who seemed to be having any fun so far was Monique.

The show closed a little clumsily and received an applause that sounded a touch let down. Afterward, in the VIP bar Monique and Bettina, both now fully clothed, were sitting on a couch with Philippe Dean, one of Private's few male stars. Dean held a microphone shaped like a dildo while the blond, sinful Monique and the dark-haired, somewhat more sophisticated Bettina sat like objects in front of German RTL's cameras. Milton had already generated substantial attention in Great Britain for the Private Circle clothes line, which was marketed as street-smart style. And he'd also received good media coverage for the fact that both Massive Attack and Prodigy had written music for The Uranus Experiment.

PARIS Berth Milton felt he had good reason to spend big on the Millennium party in Berlin. Not only because the company was going to celebrate its 35th birthday, but because things had never gone so well for Private. Its stocks fluctuated between fifteen and twenty U.S. dollars and the large investment banks were waiting in line for the next big move. The company's website was visited by hundreds of thousands of surfers every month.

The media watched the company and its leader like never before, and not just the traditional porno rags and men's magazines, but international business publications like Forbes and The Economist and glossy lifestyle magazines like Vogue, Germany's Max and Spain's Man. The BBC had done two documentaries on the societal complications of modern pornography with Private as a main example. The German channels, of course, were close behind. Even the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet --- which had long chased after Private's founder, Berth Milton Sr., and then shifted its hunt to Milton Jr. --- had given its female editors a two-page spread to write about "the new, hip porn," under the headline "The porn king's new clothes."

It was quite a move from the elitist, indignant tone that had otherwise been evident in the newspaper's previous coverage of him. Milton was most proud of the fact that Private and the American porno mag Penthouse had during the summer of 1999 signed a partnership agreement and produced films in both hard and soft versions. The victory had a special sweetness to it.

Milton Sr. and Penthouse's founder Bob Guccione had always had plans for a cooperation of some kind. But dad had never quite been able to bring the agreement to a close. The news about the agreement between Private and Penthouse caused Private's stock to jump a few dollars, which led to a call from Nasdaq exchange officials to Johan Gillborg, CEO for Milcap Media Group --- the Swedish division of the Private concern that had administered Private's entry into the exchange --- in Nacka, outside of Stockholm, to find out what had happened.

Gillborg yawned, checked the press releases in his computer, found the one that seemed to have the right date and told the curious woman on the other end of the line about the agreement. The agreement, considered a historic one in industry circles, included co-production of films for video, DVD and cable TV. Everything was to be marketed in each of the company's magazines and on the Private and Penthouse websites, which meant Private's brand would have unsurpassed exposure worldwide.

To celebrate the agreement --- the crown on Private's recent marketing efforts in the United States --- at the end of October, the company invited journalists and industry insiders to L'Etoile, a restaurant in Paris, only a few weeks before the Millennium party in Berlin. Private's PR department took care of the press coverage by sending invitations to a select group of publications and TV channels; there were 100 journalists in all. Each guest would cost 300 francs for appetizers and drinks at the bar. The bill for 30,000 francs is the equivalent of what it would cost to buy an ad in the French trade magazine Hot Video.

"An interesting event and very cost effective," wrote Private's marketing department in an internal memo. L'Etoile was packed with industry people, reporters, cameramen and women. Star director and producer Pierre Woodman sat in one of the couches with his velvet-eyed stable of ladies, that night made up of a Tania (Russof, his wife), a Susanna, an Inga and no less than three Gabriellas; the actress' stage names occasionally resulted in rather comic effects.

The journalists who covered the branch were all there: Massimo Bonera, a small, balding man from European Promotion Masters in San Marino, who looked like he'd just emerged from the boys' room and whose glasses were steamed up from all the beauty that surrounded him; David Chrizo from Hot Video, who had been covering Private since 1993 and whose only assignment was to write about porn industry; the anemic Joel Daguerre, who was working on a TV documentary about Woodman; and Yves Trevalec from RTL in Luxemburg, who was always anywhere there was nudity and whose huge camera always looked like it was about devour the porn stars.

Private had also shown up in full effect: marketing director Mårten Kull; production director Javier Sánchez, who had started his Private career with Milton Sr. in the 1980s; J.C. Jougla, Milton Jr.'s personal image consultant and friend of Swedish supermodel Emma Sjöberg and Ace of Base star Ulf Ekberg; press secretary Xavier Escolar from the headquarters in Barcelona; and Nathalie Michel from Private's Paris office. Kull was especially pleased by the fact that the Canal Plus program Journal du Hard was there. They had filmed Milton in Barcelona, they had footage from the first Private/Penthouse production shot the day before and they had filmed the move of the majority of Private's Swedish operations down to Spain. Journal du Hard constantly had fifteen to twenty million viewers.

The hours passed. The party was missing its main ingredient. Everyone was waiting for Berth Milton. Kull was worried that the Canal Plus crew was going to get tired and leave before his boss arrived. Extremely late --- fog in London and thrown off flight schedules --- Milton finally arrived like a presidential candidate on the campaign trail. Flashing cameras and the bright lights from TV cameras followed him from the sidewalk into the restaurant. Milton shook hands and nodded his head left and right as recognized people in attendance. He was wearing a three-piece business suit, a white shirt and tie and was clutching his cognac-colored leather briefcase. The hero had arrived.

Milton apparently hadn't had time to eat any breakfast that morning, having jumped straight into work at 7 a.m., but during the day Private's stock had gone up fifteen percent. He had just been at the prestigious Distripress conference in Rome, where new continents that had opened themselves up to his Nasdaq-listed hard pornography. Private's products would now be distributed in counties like New Caledonia, Ivory Coast and Tahiti. Milton made a point of it, just to show that Private was breaking down all boundaries.

In addition, in the next few days he would sign a contract with one of the largest Spanish and South American media concerns, a contract that would give Private exclusive rights to provide the porn content for a new Internet portal for the Spanish-speaking world. Porn in Ruins?

In the 80s, porn films came out at the rate of several per week. Leaving aside the compilations and the Euros, they were all "feature" style movies. There is an argument often stated that having a story creates greater interest and, hence, greater eroticism. Ultimately, arguing about this is a bit like claiming that Elvis was better than The Beatles. He wasn't, but there's no convincing some people. Nevertheless, I'll try.

Films with plots have to be about something. Whether it's comedy or drama, telling an interesting story is incredibly difficult. Look at your TV guide. Look at the cinema ads. Browse your local video/DVD store. How much of this stuff do you really want to watch? How often have you watched something and then decided it was no good? Whatever your taste is, you will agree that the vast majority of what is on offer is of little or no interest.

And yet, movies and TV shows are produced by legions of dedicated, enthusiastic and (sometimes, even) talented people working with significant budgets and the resources of multinational corporations. Despite that, much of what they produce is uninspired, derivative or just plain boring.

So, what hope has the porn producer who is working with a $50,000 budget, a crew of three, and a cast chosen on the basis that they look good naked and are prepared to have large objects rammed up their rectums? Especially when the shoot has to be completed by 5 o'clock this afternoon?

It was NEVER a realistic hope. The so-called "great" feature pornos of the Golden Age were all rubbish when judged by the standards of competent filmmaking. Take out the sex scenes and you are left with poorly scripted, unconvincing, badly acted crap that would not even come up to the standards of the afternoon soaps.

In fact, these films merely served to frustrate the viewer who wanted to see some sex. Endless scenes of cars driving around and kitchen table conversations between clichéd characters do not make for eroticism, no matter how well lit they are.

If I want comedic or dramatic interest, I've got Woody Allen and Stanley Kubrick. (Actually, I've got to admit that old Stanley could have made a decent porno, although I would have left Tom Cruise out of it)

This is not to say that some sort of characterisation is a bad thing. I quite like the vignette style of porno that you see in Rocco's films, or in the Hustler/Girl Power or even Max Hardcore or Zupko movies. Context is OK, but once a pornographer starts thinking he's Steven Spielberg and tries to get a 19 year old f--- bunny to be Meryl Streep, then I hit the FF button, COZ IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

Gonzo was a major step forward in porn, because it stripped away the bulls---. Stagliano gets a load of credit for realising the Absolutely Bleeding Obvious: that porn viewers want to see good-looking people nude and having sex, and that that could be done with a hand-held camera, no script and some good performers.

From there it grew, and we have producers like Anabolic, RLD, Extreme, Evil Empire, Seymore, Max and so on who produce videos that do not attempt to do any more than what is required. In a 140 minute Diabolic video there is more proper sex than in any three 70 minute Golden Age films.

But, if you don't like that, we also have producers like Vivid et al that make "nice" porn for people who like plots. Also, we've got all sorts of hybrids, like Hustler and Private, and every other possible variation: GGW, Jim Powers, Jim Holliday, and God knows what else if you take the Europeans into account.

And then there's the inevitable, ultimate, unprovable Matter Of Opinion. This is it: There are more hot girls doing porn now than the 1980s could ever dream of. Yes, there were good-looking girls in 80s porn. Just check out Frank Simmons' sig line for a listing (it's time to put Nikki Charm back in, Frank). There were also a lot of woofers. I won't name them, because they deserve their dignity, but they were there. There are girls working today who are not perfect 10s. But we do have many first class beauties, and a lot who are hot just because they are so into it. There must be dozens of new ones every month. Some of them are as good as Gauge or Aurora Snow.

The 80s threw up twenty or more good actresses. Now, we get that many every year. Go to Europe and you can double or treble the numbers. And they all routinely do stuff that the precious 80s girls either didn't do, or made a big fuss about. Up the ass? Sure. Swallow? No problem. Lick his ass? How deep? You don't think that's erotic? Try one of the other 50 new releases this week.

Finally, a word about the male performers. It takes a lot for a male performer to register in my consciousness. 80s performers like Jeremy, Byron and Leslie became recognisable to me only through their ubiquity. In the 90s, Dave Hardman achieved the same feat. Current performers like Lexington Steele and Brandon Irons make it because their work is good. They know what they are doing, and they do it well. To criticise Brandon Irons because he is not Martin Scorsese is to miss the point. Brandon Irons has the right tool for the job, and some concept of how to use it.

Every week I visit the Smut Shack, and every week I am able to pick up two, three, even four new titles that deliver properly lit, well staged, explicit sex scenes with no bulls--- interspersed through them. I couldn't do that in 1988.

Gay Porn Star Mike Henson Dies

Tim Evanson writes on RAME: Mike Henson, the legendary veteran porn star of the 1980s, died two days ago from a drug overdose. Henson had a long battle with drugs, which led to his first departure from the porn world in the late 1980s. And Marc Snyder's a scum bag.' And he cried, 'Oh, he's got Michael Raven there.' Jim used to shoot for them [Sin City]. Jim used to make good money off them and Jim got dumped. America's Most Wanted

America's Most Wanted aired a segment on Saturday night regarding the crime involving William Welch aka The Messiah.  Here's a recap courtesy of socaluncensored.com:

America's Most Wanted - Messiah Segment

September 21st, 2002

The segment started with America's Most Wanted showing clips of the WWE and John Walsh talking about how AMW teamed up with the WWE in the past to solve a crime. He then says "tonight we are going into a different world of wrestling".

They start with an interview with EPIC owner Gary Yap who talks about how underground and "guerilla" indy wrestling is. He also mentions how most wrestlers have jobs during the week then on the weekends they go to a swapmeet or marketplace to wrestle hoping to eventually one day get noticed by a larger promotion. They show clips of a battle royal from some promotion back east.

Clips are then shown from the Messiah versus Nick Mondo Fans Bring Weapons Deathmatch at EPIC from July 14th, 2002. New Jack is shown all cut up.

Tom Morris, the correspondent doing the segment then goes into a little background information on indy wrestling. Showing clips of the ring being setup. Disco Machine is interviewed. Doesn't really say anything new.

William Welch AKA The Messiah is interviewed and clips of him wrestling is shown. AMW mentions he has a cult following, they show a fan with a Messiah tattoo. Welch says he told him "you might want to get that removed".

The story of his attack on August 1st begins. Welch was playing video games at home, he heard people come in and thought they were with his roommate. He saw their reflection in the TV arguing about which was going to get him. The two attackers put him in a chokehold and held him down. Then he saw garden shears, they cut his thumb clean off. He got to the door but couldn't open it because he had no thumb. The attackers hit him with a chair and a fishtank was thrown at him. He mentions they wanted to cut off his penis, but he fought them off and they ran away. They took the thumb with them.

Detective Victor Lewandowski from the LA County Sheriffs Department is then shown explaining how the attackers taking the thumb leads them to believe that it was a hired hit, as taking the thumb would be for proof to whoever hired the hit.

They then go into the possibility that Rob Black is behind the attack, talking about Messiah's anti XPW promos over the last few months before the attack. Then they mention how Messiah had an affair with Rob Black's wife Lizzy Borden. America's Most Wanted went to XPW to get comment and the doors were locked up.

They show Welch coming back to indy wrestling at the EPIC benefit show for him from August 18th, 2002. He said "something like this is not going to stop me from living my dream" as a professional wrestler.

They ended the segment by showing artists drawings and descriptions of the suspects.

Here are a few thoughts on the show:

I thought the segment was well put together. It was a little disappointing that nothing new was revealed, despite being told before hand that there would be, but I guess America's Most Wanted can only reveal what the police give them clearance to reveal. However the LA Daily News even talked about forensic evidence, while AMW didn't mention it all. Those police sketches are probably not enough to catch the attackers. At least the police have more to go off of.

America's Most Wanted is all about ratings. It's a television show and while it strives to catch criminals, there is a bottom line. A lot of XPW fans were saying that Rob Black wasn't a suspect, but now that shouldn't be an issue because this segment proves that he is a suspect. But America's Most Wanted didn't say if there are any other possible people behind it. Like any TV show it seemed set up to tell the story it wanted to.

America's Most Wanted also didn't show the interview they did with New Jack. New Jack has stated that XPW Vice President Kevin Kleinrock offered him money not to go on America's Most Wanted, so I'm sure whatever New Jack had to say was golden.

VCA Shoots Sopornos 4

With help from director Jim Malibu and his VCA crew, Rob Spallone shot Sopornos 4 this weekend.

He shot until 1AM Sunday morning, capturing three sex scenes at a hot sweaty dump in the San Fernando Valley. Meanwhile, at another location in the Valley, Skeeter Kerkove shot his much-heralded reverse gangbang with a schoolteacher who got to have sex with 20 different women. It was billed that the man would climax 20 times. With about 50 representatives of the news media around him, he did not climax once. The presence of the media and their cameras bothered him.

He shoots me, putting me in the hospital. They put me in the ambulance. I'm going crazy. All I see is everybody f---ing. I see the two ambulance paramedics f---ing in the ambulance. My driver was Rick, Tawny's husband.

"Today Tony will f--- Sabrine Maui and Tawny Roberts. He is f---ing my daughter. Then, I'm in the hospital room and she comes to visit me. I picture her f---ing the doctor. Then, Shayla LaVeaux plays my wife. I picture her f---ing Herschel and Tony. Tony's already dead.

"But I got shot in the face yesterday. I put Joey Buttafucco's brother and his girlfriend in the movie. They played two vice cops yesterday. And Joey lent us an old Convertible Lincoln. We put Tony's body in the trunk."

Rob gets in a conversation with the operators of the stage. They agree what filthy rotten animals porners are.

Rob: "When I owned RealPornWorld.com, it was live 24/7 on the internet. It was babysitting. I'd come in at 7AM and leave at midnight. I'd go home and go on the computer to check on them."

Operator: "That's what I've got."

I got my money back from the bank because it wasn't my signature. But they'll steal anything. It doesn't even matter if they need it. And filthy dirty? When I had the houses, you could go in the closets and find food."

Operator: "All the lunch meat on the ground."

Rob yells at Sabrine Maui, who just drove up. "Get your f---ing ass in there. I told you to be here at 8:30 AM. It's 10AM."

Sabrine: "I got lost."

Rob: "Let me tell you about Sabrine. She's engaged to Don Fernando.

"Don goes to colleges. He parks his car. He walks around the campus and hands his business card out. He says he went to a school one day. As soon as he pulled into a spot, he saw these two [Philippino] girls walk by. They were sisters. He handed them his card that he was a still photographer. He got them to his house. Took their pictures and got them into this. He ended up getting engaged to Sabrine. He's the luckiest guy in the world.

"I don't have any daughters but I have six nieces. If any of them ever call me up and say, 'Uncle Rob, I was in college and this guy gave me his card, I'd come hunt you down and cut your head off. The girl's in college and you talk her into leaving school and doing this?

Luke: "Do your kids see you smoking dope?"

Wayne: "No."

Gary: "Mine do. They're in high school."

Wayne: "If I were doing crack cocaine, I think that might have something to do with f---ing your children up. But I try to teach good values and morals. At the same time, I use it as if it were medication to keep my moods down so I don't snap."

Gary, who has four kids between 12-21: "I've told my 12-year old daughter that the reason she's alive sometimes is because I get high."

Dynamite: "It's the only way I can deal with her. And I love her to death."

Wayne: "We all have vices that we depend on - jerking off, cleaning guns, golfing, paintballing."

Dynamite: "I'm signing a two-year exclusive contract with Forbidden Fruit to represent a new line of glass dildos. They do these [bongs] too, though. Skeeter has three things he wants to use me in. I just shot for Showtime. That will air next year. We went to the Playboy Mansion for the Cutty Sark Sex and Rockn'roll concert series. I had a great time. I got to go in the grotto and the hot tub. I walk in and see makeup artist Red Velvet. She's lost about 20 pounds on a low-carbohydrate diet. She's going in for breast implants soon to move to a full B cup.

Tawny's friend Shane has cancelled because he's sick. They look around for a guy to play the doctor and settle on Steve Hatcher. Rob keeps threatening to get a black guy, to Tawny Roberts' displeasure. She's from Texas.

Ron Sullivan: "I'll be the doctor."

Rob Spallone has four new front teeth. He was in a car accident about six months ago. "Somebody cut me off on the 118. I hit the steering wheel."

Rob bites into a hard apple.

The porn industry had a big drug problem this summer. People are cooling it. It disrupted many productions, as did directors who've been dating the talent. Many blowups on set. There was a venereal wart outbreak in the industry last winter. Says a male performer, 'Hey, you just have to f--- around them.'

I hear that many directors are trying to squeeze their crews and put the savings into their own pocket. One director did this on a New Sensations shoot, firing the 2nd camera and tech guy. New Sensations head of production came in and shut down the set and made right with the crew. The director is back shooting gonzo.

I talk to Skeeter Kerkove about Saturday's disaster.

Skeeter: "There's no control of this. It's not like we're hiring Marc Davis or Eric Everhard. These guys always have wood. My goal was to make sure there was an appropriate cable version. I had it properly lit. There was plenty of pretty girls and striptease. We had a boom mike. We had a behind-the-scenes guy cover people doing blowjobs and having sex acts in other places."

The operator of the stage was upset that the porners starting having sex on a balcony where a little old lady, out for a walk, could see and loudly protest.

Skeeter: "The short period of time where the guy did have wood, there's enough to put together a movie."

Owner of the production says he had a demo tape of the guy popping about 11 times with one girl in a hotel room.

Skeeter: "I wasn't responsible for any of the casting. I was responsible for managing the circus."

DUC: "Who were the top chicks?"

Skeeter: "Nakita Denise. She's a multiple-award winner. Then nine-time award winner Bridgett Kerkove hosted and had some fun making out with Nakita. They love each other.

"We were on the Howard Stern Show in August. It was 12 days after Bridgett gave birth. She was looking hot. Bridgett's straitlaced. She's a good woman. She looked good for having just given birth but now she's looking stunning. She's already down to 124. She had the baby nine weeks ago today. She was at Nakita Denise's house when she went into labor.

"The Howard Stern Show were here covering it yesterday. They loved what was going on. Bridgett will go back on the Howard Stern Show in October.

Skeeter shows me his new Jaguar, which he paid for with a check. His wife Bridgett wants to sell her immaculate Jaguar for $32,000 so she can buy a silver XJ8 "but she wants an ivory interior and mine's oatmeal. They're work vehicles. We carry equipment in it.

"I shoot two series every month for Metro - Skeeter Kerkove's Anal Excursions and Skeeter Kerkove's Teen Patrol. I have the girls on leashes. They're hogtied. I give Metro the proper amount of European footage and a guaranteed Playboy sale. It's happy and lovey and no cussing. Passionate french kissing. Give them lots of nice pictures that can be sold at Fry's Electronics and Tower Records. I envision a romance novel when I'm putting the movies together.

"Danny Gorman at Metro is happy. The first movie completely sold out in three weeks. I'm getting ready to shoot Anal Excursions 4. It will be all double-anal."

Director James DiGiorgio was not involved in the shoot because he and Rob Spallone broke up a couple of months ago.

The Dark Side Of Hollywood

Mike writes: I've been an occasional reader of your two Internet websites for quite sometime. A friend referred your sites to me, in case you are interested. I saw the Nudity Required: The Dark Side of Hollywood awhile back. I'm a big fan of the B films from the mid 1980s and before. Visions of Claudia Jennings, Mary Woronov, (okay, I begrudgingly admit) Sybil Danning and other actress specializing in the B films industry decorate my video shelves. Sadly from the mid 1980s and up, there have only been a few decent trashy B films I can fondly remember without being embarrassed. Nudity Required was a documentary that explained the entire shebang. I don't know who to really feel sorry for? The actresses? or the viewer. It doesn't help much that Maria Ford shows incredible skills as dim bulb. "I was exploited! I was exploited!" She cries. Uhm, how many movies did it take for Ms. Ford to realize she's been exploited? She certainly knew what she was getting into.

I hope I don't come off as a sleazehound. I enjoyed the best and (sometimes the worst) of the seventies to early eighties. There are dozens of films I wouldn't have any problem admitting to watching and enjoying no matter how inept some of them come off. Including Corman's New World cycle. I'm certainly a good boy who says his prayers and doesn't enjoy real life violence, and can whip up a damn good pizza on top of that! It's a shame the B fan of yesteryear has to deal with the B product (direct to video crud) of today. Those movies are so bad, it makes people like me buy the older titles in bulk on DVD and video. Sadly, the myth that video store owners don't really care how bad the film the newest release of direct to video film is on the shelves as long as there is something on the new release shelf for the customer to rent. I think I'll feel sorry for the viewer.

A friend sent me a copy of Give Me Your Soul. And I would like to know whatever happened to the mother and daughter act featured in the video? It's been quite awhile, but I recall a young wannabe porn queen named from the South who by the end of the documentary, the mother decided to get into the act and do a threesome with the denfather of the porn starlets? Just curious.

Dennis Hoff - New Boyfriend of Sunset Thomas?

According to rumor, Dennis Hof is a likely candidate to be the father of Sunset Thomas's new baby. The Real Linda Lovelace

The Real Linda Lovelace airs in Britain's Channel 4, September 26th, 10.00pm

Linda Lovelace, who died in April this year as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash, became the iconic symbol of the porn industry in the early seventies and a new documentary, The Real Linda Lovelace, explores the extraordinary and contradictory life of this notorious pin-up.

Lovelace shot to worldwide prominence in the groundbreaking film Deep Throat that not only helped make "adult" films an acceptable part of cinema-going but also propelled Lovelace to the status of spokeswoman for a formerly derided industry. Yet behind the public image of 70s sexual liberation enthusiastically endorsed by the media-friendly Linda, in the 1980's disturbing stories of physical, psychological and emotional abuse on the set of Deep Throat involving her former husband Chuck Traynor, came to light.

The former catholic schoolgirl denounced her role as porn superstar and spokeswoman as she became a born again Christian, an ardent feminist and a virulent anti-pornography campaigner, in turn associated with right-wing activists and the anti-porn leagues of America. As accusations flew between the two sides of the debate, Lovelace's story exposed a dark underbelly of the industry that many had chosen to ignore in the heady rush of the 70s.

Written and narrated by critic and broadcaster Mark Kermode, The Real Linda Lovelace includes footage from a 1996 interview with Lovelace herself and a rare and candid interview with Traynor before his sudden death from a heart attack, as well as featuring contributions from many collaborators and friends (as well as feminist campaigners Andrea Dworkin and Catherine McKinnon).

The Real Linda Lovelace also looks at the social and historical context that saw a film like Deep Throat play in mainstream cinemas, becoming a date movie and the subject of middle-class dinner party conversation, exploring too just how a film that only became legal in Britain last year, became a touchstone for the debate on consent, consensus and freedom of speech. Ultimately the documentary asks the question, was Lovelace just a child of the free love generation realising the error of her ways, or an innocent, used as a figurehead, first by the porn industry and then by the anti-porn leagues of America?

Remembering Club Med

Pat Riley writes on RAME: Back in the dim dark ages of the sixties and early seventies the place to go was Club Med (do they still exist). It was said that if you couldn't get laid at Club Med you might as well join a monastery and although I personally never went, I did know some guys who did. They got laid alright--probably many a virgin both male and female lost it at Club Med--but it was by no means an orgy of promiscuous sex that was implied. The guys I knew got laid with one girl and she only with him (that he knew about anyway) and it was all nice and romantic watching the sunset and holding hands etc. The girls put out in such places because of the lack the contraints of family and friends and threat to reputation and it's easy given the proximity of private quarters and lack of clothing. This is not real day to day life though.
