Where Was The Coverage?

LT writes on RAME: What happened to the coverage of the FSC lobbying trip to Sacramento? Last year I remember seeing a couple of short clips on L.A. area newscasts, it was on Sacramento's local news and I saw articles in the Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Francisco papers. AP picked up the story and it even ran in my podunk local paper.

So, where was the coverage this year? Gene Ross mentioned a number of camera crews being there, but I saw nothing (were they only local Sacto cameras?). I could find no item in the San Francisco, Los Angeles or Sacramento newspapers this year. The only item I've run across was on Wired News.

Yet, I'm sure certain parties will call it "an overwhelming success featuring
extensive coverage by the print and TV media".

Uh huh.

Luke's heard that the FSC spends about $40,000 a year for publicity, most of it has gone to promoting the outgoing FSC executive director Jeffrey Douglas.

Mike Ross says: Two years ago was when the FSC received a TON of press. That is because of myself, and the PR firm that they hired for about $10,000 worked night and day for two weeks to get publicity. It was also because it was the second time that the "porn industry " was up. Additionally, we were doing something... fighting a bill.

As for last year, after reviewing the media thanks to clipping services, there was just about zero coverage of "condoms over the capitol." As for this year, Sacramento stations carried only one story. As for "clips" from services, I received none, which makes me wonder if it was carried anywhere?

With respect to Gloria Leonard's lovely and flattering comments and the FSC's Sacramento fundraiser.... Don't you think its funny that an organization that professes to be "professional amateurs" and wants to hire a lobbyist to represent them in Congress, has them both at the helm?

To make matters worse, Mr. Douglas, who was fired as FSC executive director, is now saying that for the FSC to be effective, they need a national lobbyist? What happened to the concept of a lobbyist in every state, where the action really is? What about the concept of helping local businesses in their fights against local governments? Once you stop laughing, think seriously about "condoms over congress" and see where that gets the industry at the national, state or local levels.

Additionally, I am glad Gloria can count, it shows just how smart she really is about politics, finances and law.... and its with that intelligence in mind that i want to ask her these two very specific questions:

1) If I am a liar and "Luke" prints my lies (thus making Luke a "partner in crime"), why does she and others continually read your material and thus your site? Philosophically, if we are such "Liars" its amazing that she and the others have an "official opinion" on both of us...... I guess she doesn't  understand that every statement she makes towards us is actually a form of defacto recognition.

Additionally, her, your and my actions prove that the First Amendment protect both you and I, as well as her and the members of the industry. If that is true, why is she so pre-disposed and hateful towards us and our issues, especially since we are just doing what the internet was created for and allowed... the ablity to publish "thoughts and words and feelings" as the First Amendment provides?

2) Why is it that after advertising for about a month that the FSC event was going to happen at a Sacramento Night Club, that now you are asking questions, things are "changing"...... it was an advertising  "mistake" on the part of the club?

As intelligent, educated individuals let me ask you this.....If it was a mistake, why wasn't it corrected after the ad ran a couple of times (as opposed to over 25)? My guess is that she either didn't review it (didn't know about it), or that she agreed with it. Either way, that is unprofessional. Additionally, why is it that the FSC and Kat promised 10 "participants," yet delivered only six? Was that also a mistake? And the club is at fault for that also? Using their logic, I expect it was, huh?

So that the industry and America's consumer know, the event was advertised continually as a Fundraiser for the FSC for over 25 days, and at the event, they even announced it that way (and let's not forget the fact that they handed out paperwork on every table with both the FSC and NACT information on it, remember?)

As a Free Speech Coalition Member, it is my understanding that Kat is paid to lobby for the FSC? If so, why is she conducting fundraisers for another organization? If the FSC is so "poor" as we have all heard, shouldn't the money be going to them? Additionally, isn't she paid by the FSC to put that "Free Speech Lobbying Days Event On?"

I guess this goes hand in hand with the confusion surrounding the question, who owns the Free Speech X-press.... It says that is is sponsored by the FSC, but owned by Kat Enterprises. Who owns it?

I know I am not the smartest person in the world, and yes, as a male I do
have testosterone, but that doesn't affect my ability to read or count.
For instance, the advertising continually said the event was for charity, yet
we as a public have never been told which charity it went to. Was the
charity her own and called N-Act?

Isn't that hypocrisy? Is that whom we want representing us before politicians at any level?

With that in mind, we must ask this final specific question..... what
charity is the money going to? AIDS research? Childrens burn units? Domestic Violence Shelters?

Finally, during the event, didn't Bobby Lilly introduce Kat as the
"Executive Director" of N-ACT? If so, why is Dave Hall now being "touted"
as the Executive Director?

As you can see, there are a lot of "why's" on the table, and none of them
have been properly or professionally answered, not just for me or you, but
for the American public.

Gloria, since you obviously know how to count so effectively, but have
failed to "read and answer" the questions... how about this one.... Let's
not focus on actual laws that were possibly broken, lets focus on how many
ethical laws did the above action(s) break?

If I was them, I would be embarrassed, not only for shaking down consumers and not delivering what was promised, but for just not telling the truth.

Michael Ross, Adult Entertainment Advocate

P. S. I forgot.... lets look at the Anti-trust aspect of the Mexico "deal"
we are currently reading about .... it's crazy.... we have an industry, sitting
down together to industrywide policy....and they are doing it at a resort
in a foreign country NO LESS! I believe that is the making of the "anti-trust" environment I have spoken about.

Kat Sunlove writes Luke: "You're wasting your dime sending me these e-mails. Clearly, this pathetic, driveling egomaniac is pathologically obsessed with me, Gloria Leonard, Jeffrey J. Douglas and the Free Speech Coalition. (He's long been obsessed with the industry!) He has obviously become completely unhinged. I'll not respond to his hysterical rants.

If we ignore him, perhaps he'll just dry up and blow away like the straw
man he is.

Kat Sunlove,
Lobbyist
Free Speech Coalition

P.S. I've decided that he's compelled to behave in this unseemly way
because, until the Free Speech Coalition hired him, he had no real clients.
(He told me this himself.) It was quite a blow to his ego to have lost this
position due to his own personality quirks combined with his inexperience
in this industry. No wonder he's lost his wicket.

In Cancun, Mexico, www.geneross.com quotes AVN publisher Paul Fishbein: "The Free Speech Coalition for a relatively small amount of money uses a P.R. firm to get us media. We got tons of positive media this last year for the industry from local TV stations and newspapers. As a media contact, people will call me, and I'll say things like its on cable TV, it's available on pay-per-view, a new generation of kids turning 18, etc. - most of the media is really positive. The wire service picks it up, and it goes out over the Internet wire services. Little bits of information sink into the nation's consciousness - positive, good information. The organization doesn't spend a lot of money. When the Sacramento-stuff was happening the first time, we got tons of media. All of a sudden Nina Hartley and Juli Ashton are on national television fighting a certain bill. The perception of the adult industry has come around in the last 10 years. It would be great if Ed Powers could get syndicated [his radio show]. He could be like the Rush Limbaugh of porn."

At the conclusion of the AVN Cancun conference, convicted felon Eddie Wedelstedt said: "AVN is the bible to our industry. This industry cannot survive without AVN. You're the one who has to bring the word to the people." www.geneross.com.

Nena Cherry writes Luke

The reason that I felt compelled to write you was because I feel that you have stepped way over the lines of Christianity and have no remorse whatsoever. Do you not know what it is like to be a human being; who is respectable and has feelings for others around you, besides causing intentional harm to others? Do you not realize that part of being here on this earth is to serve and to experience joy and happiness with others. Life was not intended to intentionally cause damage to our counterparts.

By reading your website ( only because I was once in the industry ), I have
witnessed the terrible conclusion that you have no guilt and no remorse. You
seem to delve in the misery of pain, disease, death, rumors and , LIES; like it has no bearing on your soul. If you were truly a practicing Jew, it seems to me that you would have some remorse for your transgressions; to the ones you have so deeply hurt. What I do see is a man that feels no guilt from his wrong doing and continues to hurt others.

Those are the obvious facts I have witnessed from your website. In real life and not on , " porno time " ; I would have to say that a man such as yourself ; Luke, who claimed to have a college degree [wrong, Luke dropped out]. Did you take classes such as Critical Thinking 101, Psychology , and the Developmental Composition ? I ask you only because, when dealing with critical thinking, a person who has no sense of responsibility, and they lash out at others as you have, do not feel guilt and do not feel crummy as you should for your sins against people. If you were more slighted towards your education and spirituality you would be a critical thinker and have some responsibility. The fact of the matter is that you have no responsibilty or reagrd for life or your actions. That is sad.

Psychology plays another issue which I do not care to elaborate too much.
Have you ever heard yourself out loud saying some of the things that you
write to people? Have you thought about how that may affect them, and if so, how would you feel if this was done to you?

I wanted to note that your website`s composition was very far from being
headline material in any major newspaper. The meek would never spend a
second to give readership to that wickedness. I hate to break the bad news
to you , but porno is a small percentage of what the rest of the world cares
to think about. The rest of modernized society is more focused on family,
education, and the well being of their male and female counterparts.

I am sure you have sought some approval from the public for whatever reasons to carry you across the long journey I have witnessed through the last two years. I feel very bad for the people you have hurt , and the family members involved. I may not ( NOW ) approve of what it all stands for, but I am still a heartfelt person. I know the pain involved, you have no right to judge others and hurt people, as you have.

I am going to college now, I have been for quite some time. I have seen you
attempt to write about me on your site, once in a blue moon. But like a broken record you are a skip from the beat. You never posted the last emails from me, was there fear driven in you that delayed the post to your infamous site? Or did you not want the public to see you for what you were, in the eyes of a truthful person who had no motives or vindication’s ?

I feel sorry for your mom, and also for you and the silly people in your life.

A real person with a real life,

aka. Nena Cherry

Kelly Jade writes Luke: "I think everyone needs to lighting up aliitle. they bash you for what you do but thiers not that much diffrant from what the tabliods due every day and they sell millions of them every day. Even the people that the stories are about buy them. Its like the industry has its very own . I don't think the writers of them papers aren't human they have a job to due .Sell papers. I don't think you put your real feelings onto the stories or they would'nt be as trueful if you have to worry about peoples feelings. I' v e been on your sight alot and most of it wasn't so nice but I feel that your doing your job.I don't really think your out to get me . I guess I feel as if I really don't care what anyone thinks of me its how I care about my self that matters. rumors will always go on . who really cares."

A beautiful woman writes Luke: "Do you know how hard it is NOT to sell yourself, through stripping, or porn?"

Luke: "God gives each of us talents. We are then obligated to use them for God. God gave you beauty, He gave me an ability with words... We must not prostitute ourselves. I'd think that usually a religious upbringing would innoculate against doing porn. Most of the women I know would never even consider it, but we all face our different struggles. I wonder if some of the hatred for porners is a splitting off of hatred we have for ourselves...that we
prostitute ourselves in our different ways."

SNeece1234@aol.com writes: "Glanced thru latest HUSTLER and saw Jeana Fine's column, DEAR SLUT. She is a convert to Judaism as are you. In giving advice to a guy who bemoaned having a misshapen penis she consoled him by telling him that "God doesn't make junk," and that if he persevered he would find the right woman (vagina). To another person she advised that God made assholes to be licked (among other activities.) Is there a Mosaic law on this or is she merely being creative? Maybe the two of you can have a dialogue on this?

"It never fails to astonish this atheistic recreational blasphemer how many religions are represented in porn. Annie Sprinkle is a goddess worshipper, Hyapatia Lee follows her Native American beliefs, Herschel Savage is said to be a Buddhist, Kay Parker is into the New Age ways and numerous others follow various branches of Christianity. It is my hunch that those in porn that are still practicing Christianity, and probably Judaism, are in the industry because they want to be punished. Porn is merely an expression of the Judaeo Christian hatred of women.I wonder how Mila was made to feel growing up? Did she constantly hear men thanking their God for not making them a woman? What a marvelous boost that must have been to her self esteem! Brooke Ashley was right when she spoke of religion causing more suffering than any other institution yet she still persists in believing in a higher power. Let it go! Believe in the tangible and your T cell count may increase due to stress reduction.

"Speaking of blasphemy, have you seen Robert Black's "Acid Sex"? If it is what they say he may give the Gay Classic LOADSTAR competition as the most blasphemous porn film ever. Plan to see it soon and wiill report my findings. Does this signal Jasmin St.Clairs renouncement of Catholicism? Did Robert Black cut a deal with the church to donate a certain percentage of the profits from the vid to them to save his soul? Is Jasmin saving money to insure hers? I will know more when I see the vid."

Luke responds: I would not advise seeking wisdom or religious advice from porn stars. I'm not aware of any Jewish law against analingus though there is a provision that one should maintain dignity, even in sex.

"If you are an atheist, then there is nothing divine for you to blaspheme. Blasphemy only carries a charge if you are open to the existence of the divine. You write about how many religions are represented by porn. Make that misrepresented. Almost nobody in porn takes organized religion seriously because no serious organized religion would allow its practicioners to have anything to do with porn. A vague spirituality, popular with porners, is wonderful in that it makes no demands, as does organized Judaism, Christianity or Islam. As for Mila, she went to an orthodox Jewish day school with friends of mine. As for porners and Brooke Ashley turning heavenward, it's the old saying, 'there are no atheists in fox holes.'"
