AVN Blows Bowen, Screws Slammy

Adult Video News, through its VP of Editorial Operations, Gene Ross, has spilled much ink of late praising the new John Bowen movie Hardcore Championship f---ing which features wrestlers from the World Championship Wrestling League. But AVN never mentions the creative force behind the video (Slammy), as Esperanza writes:

Who is the creative genius behind John Bowen's wrestling movie, who conceived, cast, wrote, directed and edited the movie for the notoriously undertalented T. Bone?

He edited Indigo Moods and will edit FIVE feature projects for Casino Productions this year, including a project of his own.

Gene Ross fails again miserably in his responsibility as a journalist. He'd rather lubricate his buddy's ass with a puff piece than tell the truth.

The director for Hardcore Championship f---ing is Slammy, a well-known porn editor who put together David Clark's Asianatrix. Gene Ross interviewed him for AVN, but chose to not mention him. Perhaps Slammy forgot to send Gene hookers? Slammy's girlfriend Laura Palmer participated in a wrestling match in a similar way to Kendra Jade's recent appearance, but Ross chose to not mention it.

Porn Star Steals Car

Nina Hartley, a 15-year veteran of adult movies with no plans to quit, is in Canada until May 9, dancing at clubs and holding "personal instructional seminars" from Toronto to Vancouver, arranged by Adults Only Video.

At the $5 per person seminars -- the money goes to Canadian AIDS research -- she relates her experiences and answers questions.

She wants to talk about sexuality and appeal to teens to refrain from sexual intercourse until they've at least left high school.

Hartley, who's tested monthly for HIV and has never contracted anything more serious than pink eye, says teens must protect themselves against AIDS and unwanted pregnancies.

"I did not lose my virginity until I was 18. Sexual intercourse for high schoolers is inappropriate and foolish. Death and babies are really big deals," she emphasizes.

So when should people have intercourse?

"There is no ideal time," she says, "but it must be when you feel you can handle the emotions and potential consequences. And I'm not telling teenagers not to have sex. There are plenty of ways to be intimate without intercourse."

Her films have not brought riches. She gets $1,000 a film, with no royalties. Her exotic dancing, she says, makes her between US$5, 000 and US$10,000 a week.

Hartley has recently received news that she personally will have to come to terms with.

She was told it's unlikely she'll ever be able to have a baby. No blame, just bad luck. A physical problem that may have been found long ago had she thought to be checked out.

"It seems to not be possible for me to have a child. It does not look like it can happen," she says softly.

An aunt to two neices and five nephews, she says she's upbeat despite her distressing news.

"It's sad, yes," she says softly, "but at the moment it's not a big deal in my life. Right now I'm not desperate to have a child, but ask me the same question in 10 years."

Jesse Jackson Prays With Paul Fishbein

First, so you know, I have sponsored legislation for several years dealing with "intellectual property rights," and the last time it was introduced, I couldn't get the FSC to support it. Jeffrey is full of s---.

Second, Jeffrey says a lot of things but two words are missing.... Michael Ross. All of the events that he spoke of meant nothing, unless their "lobbyist" did the hard work, and that lobbyist was me. In fact, Sunlove was trained by me.. .she attended 4 of my seminars on how to lobby, and in the last 2 years, has received an education from me that shows eveyone in the nation that I am the lobbyist for this industry. I don't lie, I don't steal and I am trusted by more than just the FSC Cartel.

Third, there is only one lobbyist who is qualified to not only lead this industry into the 21st century, but also congress.... and that is Michael Ross. In fact, I have just been hired by a coalition of clubs to represent them in Congress and 20 other states. There is no need for the FSC to try and go "national".. s---, they can't even do Sacramento. In fact, so you know, by the time the Gentlemen's Club Expo arrives in September, I will have started over 20 PAC's and have taken positions on over 200 bills, somthing that the FSC can and will never match. I have sponsors, and have raised over $165,000 to do the job (and that is since Jan 1, 1999). Can the FSC match either of those claims?

Fourth, if things were so good for Douglas, why did he get fired? No matter what he said, he was fired, and for consumers and the industry, that is great news.

Fifth, Jeffrey wants to start another organization to combat forgeries? Don't you think that is kinda crazy, considering the fact that he and the FSC have done nothing except take money from the industry. Why pay him to do another job, when he can't do the job he is supposed to do now. Oh yeah, I guess that his firing helps foster confidence in his abilities to start another organization.....

Sixth, something needs to be done regarding the problem outlined in your column. When are you going to get in the game and realize that there are others who are doing the same thing, for less money, and more effectively? Douglas, like Sunlove, are only out to line their pockets, and I have
proof... In fact, I did ask you to follow up on the question of "where did sunlove donate the money she raised at the last FSC function?" For some reason, you have failed to follow up on it... why?

Victims of Pornography Awareness Month

WASHINGTON, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- "For far too long, we have underestimated the devastation caused by pornography's exploitation of women and children. Marriages have been shattered, careers ruined, and souls destroyed by pornography's grasp," Family Research Council's Senior Director of Legal Studies Jan LaRue said Wednesday in acknowledgment of May as Victims of Pornography Awareness Month. "Pornography is not a victimless crime, but a heinous one that should no longer be ignored in this country."

During a press conference Wednesday, LaRue joined Concerned Women for America and other pro-family groups to recognize the casualties of pornography.

The May 10, 1999 Fortune cover story says: "Addicted to Sex -- A primal problem emerges from the shadows in a new -- and dangerous -- corporate environment." In the article, a nationally recognized sexual addiction therapist says that in the last year he has treated four Fortune 500 CEOs with problems of compulsive sex, prostitutes, porn and cyber-porn.

"Pornography addiction is an epidemic in this country that has affected millions of men, women and children," LaRue said. "But, the addict is just one of the many victims of pornography."

A 1983 study of convicted rapists and child molesters revealed that 86 percent of convicted rapists admitted to regular use of pornography; 57 percent admitted imitating pornographic scenes in the commission of their crimes; and 86 percent of those who molested girls and 77 percent of those who molested boys admitted to regular exposure to hard-core pornography.

"In spite of mounds of evidence pointing to the destructive effects of pornography, little has been done to address this serious problem," LaRue said. "When Adult Video News, the leading trade publication for the porn industry, declared in October of 1996, 'It's a great time to be an Adult Retailer,' it meant these would be trying times for parents, spouses, and children. The Justice Department is not enforcing the federal obscenity laws as President Clinton promised to do when campaigning for office, and as a result our communities and now our homes are over-run with filthy depictions of child molestation, rape, torture, bestiality, and excretion. These are plainly and simply outside the protection of the First Amendment and the Justice Department should stop acting as if they aren't."

Jim L. writes: RE the "family research council" - it's a front for Pat Robertson's gang of right-wing bible thumpers. The name is just something they picked out because it sounded "scientific". Their research and their science is a notch below that of the Weekly World News. The results are known before the research begins. The dogma pre-declares the conclusions to be reached.

These rednecks are part of the entire big-budget wing of the conservative movement. They get money from gullible guilt-wracked people, and they spend it attacking what they percieve to be the enemies of the theocracy they'd like to create. They think that the Taliban thing in Afghanistan is just about right, except that they picked the wrong religion (islam).

They are rabidly into a lot of causes, and it's pretty predictable (though hilariously inconsistent at times). They are against abortion, even if it's a case where a woman might die. However, they are *for* capital punishment. It's all in the timing, I guess. They are against porn, homosexuality, pretty much *any* sexuality other than 50s style mom-and-dad-concieve-a-new-kid-with-the-lights-out kind of thing. Yeah, you read that right - in Robertson's mind, he sees a bunch of Jewish people sitting around a table in New York, plotting the destruction of the american family with such things as "Beavis and Butthead", porn, "Quake", rap music, and the internet.

Has anybody noticed that porn has had a free hand since the Dems took office? And does anyone remember that lots of porn-biz people were going to jail during the Reagan and Bush years? You don't hear much about the Meese Report these days!

AP: ...the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families, and other conservative activists asked the Clinton administration to step up prosecution of pornography-related offenses on Wednesday. They said hard-core sexual imagery has been linked with molestation, rape and other violence against women.

``Research has shown that pornography contributes to sexual assault, including rape and molestation of children,'' Rep. Joe Pitts, R-Pa., said at a news conference called to observe May as Victims of Pornography Month. He said that of child molesters studied, 87 percent of those who molested girls and 77 percent of those who molested boys admitted using hard-core pornography regularly.

``The laws are already in place. We need the Justice Department to enforce the law,'' said Rep. John Hostettler, R-Ind.
