However, I can't help
but to wonder what is next. While the scenes I've
listed above may seem shocking to the non-porn viewer, I think we all
know that these activities are pretty common these days. Indeed, we
may
soon consider these activities to be run of the mill, same old same
old.
So what could possibly be next? What on earth could they come up with
that would be more shocking then the above scenes?

Rodger Jacobs aka Martin Brimmer, former editor of New Rave and Dirty Magazines, says: "How did Fred Buccolini not manage to fit my name into that piece he submitted? It could've been under the reference, 'how come people speak nicely to me [Luke] on the phone than slam me in print?' That's not me. Hahaha. I'm a gentleman. I would never stab anybody in the back."
Luke: "Speaking of stabbing in the back, what are your reflections on working for Yoram Dahan at New Rave?"
Rodger: "Yoram operates Citicolor Imaging www.citicolor.com which does pr-press layouts and box covers [and taking away work from Great Western Litho]... Many of their clients are mainstream. I worked for one of their vendors writing advertising copy and Citicolor did layouts. Jeff Hickey had left the magazine in early 1998. One day in March, 1998, I dropped off some advertising copy. Yoram sat me down and asked me if I'd like to work for the magazine. I took the job to assemble some credentials as a print journalist.
"I took the magazine home, flipped through a couple of issues, and hated it. Jeff Hickey is an excellent writer but the magazine had no editorial voice and no point-of-view. They tried to cater to a Gen-X sensibility and that wasn't working. One of the first issues I picked up had a feature article in excess of 3000 words on the Stephanie Swift gangbang. The most minute details such as what was being served at the craft services table. I pitched Yoram $500 an issue to be the editor and contributing writer. He said that's way too rich for my blood, I was thinking $300. He finally relented and raised it to $350. I hung in there from the July issue of 1998 to May 1999.
"I was editor under my own name and then there were seven contributing writers. All seven were me (Claude Espee, Martin Brimmer, Candy Bytes, Todd Hacker, Hank Hobart, Wolf Larsen and Mistress Damnation). I was basically responsible for 7000 words per issue. [That works out to 5c a word. Most freelancers for major magazines get $1 a word.] I wrote 12 video reviews per issue, letters to the editor, toy reviews, and a feature article. Swank's Video World pays $100 per video review.
"At first I enjoyed the unique challenge of writing under so many different psuedonyms and try to give each moniker their own personality. Candy Bytes was a bisexual married woman who reviewed the lesbian videos and toy reviews."
Luke: "Did you try out these toys you reviewed?"
Rodger: "No. Normally I didn't even get the product. I just got the box leaves and had to write a review.
"Claude Estee was a cynic who hated most gonzo porn. So if I saw a gonzo that I really hated, I'd write the review under Claude Estee. Mistress Damnation came from a fetish column (Damnation Alley) I created. Before I came on board, all the video reviews ran together. There was no distinction between fetish videos, gonzo and story driven product like Vivid.
"Damnation Alley was a big mistake. Our art director loved the idea of having a fetish column. But there are only so many ways of saying spanked, whipped and beaten.
"I am glad that I got Roger Pipe into print. He's a good writer but he needs a strong editor..."

Rodger: "It's always frustrated me that the nudie layouts contained ads for phone sex. Everyone knows that magazines survive by the advertisers dollars but you shouldn't throw it in the reader's face like that."
Luke: "I think that lacks integrity."
Rodger: "I (Hank Hobart) once got a letter from Pam Winter of Winter Publishing. Under the moniker Hank Hobart, I had reviewed a hairy video. She wrote: "...I came across your review for a hirsuite video and came across your comments that the women 'are so butt-f---ing ugly.' I wanted to show you that hairy women can be attractive." And she sent me a copy of her magazine Hair To Stay, the world's only magazine for naturally hairy women and several hairy videos... Unfortunately, she didn't disprove me.
"I also received a letter of complaint after I revealed the age of Catalina L'Amour. Her business manager wrote a letter. Her age was on her web site.
"I wrote all the letters to the editor. Sometimes I'd praise my own writing."
Luke: "Were you ever pressured to change video reviews?"
Rodger: "No, that rarely happens in this business. Once, Yoram was courting All Good Video to advertise. And there'd been a review of one of the Freshmen Fantasy videos, which included a segment "Won't You Be My Stalker." It was about a girl who wanted to be raped. The review was negative because of that. And All Good Video called Yoram and complained vociferously. [All Good Video tend to be the biggest whiners about bad publicity. Eli Richardson accosted me at the XRCO with a stream of epithets because of some negative coverage on my site of his snotty company.]
"I watched the video and it was a rape scene. So I compromised my ethics and wrote a new review of the video and did not mention the rape scene. All Good thought they were justified since it was in the context of a fantasy.
"Then there was a client called Video Select Productions that produces videos of 60 minute trailers of phone sex ads and swingers ads. And I was asked to provide a positive write-up.
"Yoram Dahan did have an enemies list. We could not review or write anything favorable about Wicked Pictures, Video Team and All Good Video...because of his [Yoram] checkered history with AVN. [Yoram was fired by Paul Fishbein in early 1996 because he was trying to solicit advertisers from behind Paul's back to start up a competing magazine.]"
Luke: "What else can you tell me about Yoram?"
Rodger: "He's a poser and a smoothie. What happened to your gig?"
Luke: "Has this experience soured you on working for Jews or just Israelis?"
Rodger, shocked silence: "That's an unfair question. It hasn't soured me on either."
Luke: "How will you eke out a living now that you're not getting checks from Yoram?"
Rodger: "I still have advertising clients. I write for Hustler and Swank's Video World [for which Rodger is penning an article about Luke F-rd]. I write features for Wicked Pictures."
Luke: "Do you think you would've had more success in mainstream Hollywood if you'd been gay?"
Rodger laughs and repeats the question to his girlfriend who says Rodger would've had more success if he'd been Jewish.
Rodger: "If I'd been Jewish and gay and mafia..."

1) Spallone and Jim
South peace accord. Spallone's loose cannon ways
made for a large part of the interesting behind-the-scenes gossip on
l-keford.com. Spallone seems like a true character, not a carefully-
crafted gimmick like Extreme's outlaw image and Kid Vegas's
gen-X posturing.
2) His boneheaded move
of posting Porn industry ethics rankings. Why
make those judgments and alienate potential/actual sources? Just present
their activities they way they are and let the reader draw his/her own
conclusions.
3) Geneross.com. An
attempt to co-op Luke by persenting an alternative
outlet for porners to get their side of the story out. A much safer
bet for
the industry, since Gene and AVN have none of Luke's moral/ethical
problems with porn. Their allegiance is already bought and paid for.

FSC (the porn trade group the Free Speech Coalition) insurance commissioner Greg Zeboray writes on RAME about Marc Wallice: "The question remains, what evidence [that Marc worked while knowing he was HIV positive]? If you are referring to anything from Luke, that's NOT evidence, it's creative and biased reporting.
Doom replies: O.K., Mr. Zeboray, I will examine if there is indeed any evidence that implicates Wallice in the HIV breakout a year ago.
1. Wallice is HIV+.
Hmmm...Luke broke this story IIRC. It would seem
to the unbiased observer that this is indeed a key piece of evidence.
After
all, if he weren't HIV+, there is no way he could possibly be the source
that infected Brooke Ashley and/or the others.
2. Wallice had sex on
film with each and every girl who got the virus in the
outbreak a year ago (also reported by Luke.) This would seem to be another
piece of evidence in the Wallice affair. If he didn't have sex with
them, or share needles, or give them his blood for a transfusion,
there is no way he's the source for the Ashley and/or the others.
3. The allegedly fake
HIV tests came from an address that was defunct for
a year before the "test". Other irregularities about these "tests".
Reported
by Luke and Gene Ross. Seems to indicate that the tests might have been
faked (A/K/A evidence.)
4. His extremely high
viral load so soon after a supposedly clean HIV bill
of health. Reported by Luke and Gene Ross. I personally am not qualified
to evaluate this evidence, as I am not a medical professional. However,
perhaps this is significant evidence. Perhaps it is irrevalent evidence.
It is, at any rate, evidence.
So, Mr. Zeboray, how
are the above not evidence? How has Luke's
"creative and biased" reporting caused the above points to be invalid?
Should we turn to Ben Bradlee Fishbein, Carl Bernstein Ross and
Bob Woodward Kernes to ferret out the truth with reporting that is
neither creative nor biased?
